There is no reason to let the comments from the people watching and not doing bother you. I i,aging there are easily a half dozen good ways to weld in the sleeves. You showed the one you picked on that day based on the project, the location, the tools at hand, your schedule and your preferences and got a great result. I really appreciate you sharing your projects and your wisdom. They are beyond what I can or likely ever will do but I really enjoy the craftsmanship and learn skills I can use in other areas by seeing how you approach problems and work through the parts of the jobs that don’t go exactly the way you planned when you started.
I did that same repair on my own bobcat years ago using a mag drill. I cut a notch in two steel plates and welded them to the end of the arms for the mag drill to sit on. I used a laser in the chuck of the mag drill for alignment using a bunch of measurements from the edge of the arm. I used a boring head for a mill with an arbor in the mag drill to bore out each side.
Got my IC Weld fix! I've been rewatching old videos just to get a bump in the meantime. DTs are no fun 😂. At the start I was wondering why you didn't start plasma cutting from the large ID side but your explanation made total sense. Thanks for sharing!
When you slide the boring bar in and give the whistle, l Iove this and have adopted it in my own work 😁. Thank you Isaac for continuing to be an inspiration and all round legend.
Isaac, once again, pull a rabbit out of your hat, learned a few tricks. You’re an amazing, talented man, but with age comes wisdom as my father used to say, youth is wasted on the young!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I’m older than you, but I don’t feel it once again thank you so much for enlightening us and your tricks, and how to get over the road and get things done merry Christmas and happy new year Samuel bacon.
Hey Issac, I replaced my bushings and taper pins on my 79 Bobcat 530. I used after market stuff as Bobcat wanted more than I paid for the machine!😮 I think I cut a slot in bushing using my oxy set and then pounded out the old bushings. I froze the new ones and pounded them in as well. The inside of the frame was "wallered" pretty bad so I machines it with my angle grinder and put a big ass washer on each side to fill the gap. I try to be a little better than the last guy with the greasing thing!😊
Issac , Merry Christmas, when i worked in the lift truck industry, the company i worked for also sold skid steers, yes Bobcat, these tapered pins were the Achilles heal of Bobcat skid steers and it only took 3 or 4 years in most cases for these pins to get wallered out and we usually called in a private welder like yourself to do the work and results were a nice clean job, other companies had your standard pin without any taper and didn't have this issue🎄👍
Very nice work sir as always !! I say this will last for a good while . And yes I to noticed the pin hole . Sloppy work from the Factory for sure 😂 !! Thank you for taking time to make this video !!!
Always the best. When working on this old or worn out stuff the manufacture wont's the owner to throw it away, but along comes some welder guy and fixes it like new. Good fix it will work till it brakes. Merry Xmas to your family.
Looked good to me. There are a lot of welding critics. But the proof is in the function. You fix a lot of big machines that work hard. How many can do that.
I may need to do this to my T190, this gives me hope of figuring out a home brew way of doing it! I like the sleeve insert tube idea, then just cut them off to fit once tacked in place. Thanks, I love my machine just hate paying others to fix something for me if there is a chance of doing it myself.
Thanks, Izaak and son, for all the videos this year. You've shown us an array of different jobs and techniques, some of which I've never seen before here in the UK. Happy Christmas to you and your whole family. I wish you all a wonderful, safe, and prosperous new year. Let's hope 2025 will be even better than the last. 😁🏴
I just watched an ABOM video and when it ended, I thought to myself "Hey, I'll look at Isaac's page and see if there's anything I haven't seen before and BOOM, new video. Nice.
That plasma cutter is very reminiscent of a mini light sabre ...use the force Izaac lol and Line boring seems like a lot more complicated job than it actually is if you have a good machine for the job, and always set up to make a finishing cut, The fit was almost good enough to leave it as a hammered in fit..nicely done
I have done a number of these on New Holland skid steers for a local dealer. They apparently use the same tapered bushings but they weld right in the end of the boom arms. It’s still about a 5 to 6 hour job but way simpler than this. One thing I do is, I will put the pins (preferably the old ones, if they didn’t get destroyed removing them) into the the new bushings after getting them tacked in place while I weld them out so as not to warp the new bushings or get weld spatter in the bores. Just a suggestion.
I have not tried that method but I can see how that would work. ALthough, I didnt have the pins🤷♀️. Customer didnt leave those with me. Things to consider for next time though.👍
Isaac, you need to make sure those removable jaws on that lathe are in the right locations. Each of the removable jaws should be numbered, with a matching number on the mating jaw parts. If they are not mated correctly, you will get that kind of runout.
Isaac Best of Holiday to you and the family, When I was watching your lathe I got an idea if your shop is like mine you could have a little dust on stuff on the back side of the three jaw chuck you may want to undo it and give it a cleaning and it might start being less wobbly just a thought!!!
I did one those at work and they were done before and some jerk cut a slot in the bottom of the arm and ran a bead along there and i had a time removing the old bushes
Nice work youn man. Not so sure about the "pulse technique" but it's only holding a tapered cone so I guess it will be strong enough. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family the very best for the festive season and great success in 2025!
@@ICWeld Thanks Issac! Actually I'll be doing a long section hike of the PCT in southern Cali starting in May of 2025. I'll be starting out in Campo at the Mex/Cali border and headed up as far as Tehachapi near Bakersfield. If you're near any of that area, I'd like to have a coffee w/ you during that time, I'm buying.....lol!!Peace 😎👍✌
“ I know some of you guys don’t like it, BUT it works” and that is why I watch you and learn a ton from your videos.
For the holiest day of the year. You used the holiest blanket for the job. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
@realangrythrottle Religion is a grift.
NOW THATS PRETTY WITTY AND REALLY FUNNY!
Haha! It was the only one I could find!😄😄😄
We call them " Golf Blankets" 18 Holes.🍻
I got itchy just looking at that thing 😂 I think have ptsd from those blankets haha

Enjoy very much watching a procedure performed by a professional. That Bobcat will have a lot of hours left to work. Thank you Isaac.
Another great job Isaac of showing us how a pro does a job properly.

I bought this back in 2004. Solid unit.
This Channel is the blessed since day one. The tools owned, the precision used and the documentation presented! THank you

Those little machines do some amazing work, so its no wonder they have some wear points. Nice fix on that.
