When they needed nothing but the best talent, they imported Him from more than 700 miles away. Thanks for sharing Issac and Best Wishes to You and Your Family for the Holiday Season.
Absolutely crazy they’d hire a guy from Texas to come all the way up to Colorado for a repair. They hired a very capable guy. Always enjoy watching you work! BTW. People don’t like being told they’re running a carbon arc wrong, the people I see always have it spitting and sputtering. So I want to thank you for your video talking about how to run a carbon arc. Taught me a lot and I’ve gotten much more proficient at it.
@pagangardener that's not a botch job. That's a quick fix to finish a project amd have the least ammount of down time when you have an entire crew being paid to wait for the machine to be able to be used. Then when the machine can be put out of service with minimal extra costs they have a proper repair done.
12:46 All that oil residual and hoses, was waiting for the thing to catch fire. Big complement when a company has you travel so far away to get the job done. GREAT JOB 😺
Wow!! That's quite a service call! Using the umbrellas as a wind break is a great idea. You've inspired me that maybe I can do a repair in the cold. If a Texan can take it. a guy from Michigan certainly can! LOL! And we not only had a welding lesson, we got a geography lesson too!! Thanks Isaac!!
Very satisfying to watch a true professional. Still love that rig. That son of yours is going to be another legend in your family. Thank you. Stay safe.
Always a privilege looking over your shoulder. Thanks for sharing. Wishing You & your family a Blessed and wonderful Merry Christmas. Traveler's Mercies on the return trip. 🤎🇺🇲👍
Isaac, enjoyed the road trip with you. I made the same trip a few months ago from Fredericksburg to Glenwood Springs Colo. Great repair job as expected. I enjoy so much watching your no- nonsense approach to some difficult situations. Look forward to anything you download. Have a safe trip back to Austin.
I had no idea you would travel so far for a job. But with your talent and reputation, I wasn't surprised you got the call. It's great to see you have the best help with you. Your son is a good welder as well. And I wish your whole family a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
I've traveled that route from Limon to Ft Worth and back hundreds of times on a dedicated route. It was pretty cool to "ride" along and see lots of familiar sights with you. Thanks for the smiles.
From Texas to Colorado and finished in 28 minutes. I carry a flashlight for the same reason shown pointing out the crack. Even in daylight a flashlight works great for looking in engines or crevices to see. I carry one everyday in addition to my pocketknife.
800 mile service call! That speaks volumes for your reputation and trust people have in you, Isaac. The mechanics could have at least steam cleaned it and gotten the hydraulic hoses and wiring out of you way though!
I love how the patches welded in at 7:50 include a literal rail tie plate. 🤣 Shows you use whatever you've got on hand when in the field. On the heater side of things. Have you tried an infra-red one? You have lots of electrical power available and they're super directional. You often see them down here in NZ for outdoor heating as they only heat up what they're pointed at instead of everything inbetween.
Thanks for the video Isaac that's a long haul pay must be good but you are the best. Take care of yourself and family and friends and be Blessed. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Awesome job as always, nice tip on the soapy water mixture. Hope you added a COLD tax for this job, you guys earned it. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
Had to watch this silent, so you might have answered this question. Was the plate supplied by the manufacturer of the inserter? It looked like 75% or more of the plate wasn’t really helping to strengthen the weak, cracked zone. Only the “tail” of it was in the affected area. I was a certified welder on the railroad for 41 years, and we frequently had to repair cracked center or draft sills which are the main structural member from one end of a railcar to the other. Those repairs are governed by the AAR (Association of American Railroads), and the procedure was exactly as you did to this. The difference was that the patch was centered over the crack. Pretty work on this, and this comment wasn’t intended to be any sort of criticism! BTW, welding in the cold SUCKS!
We struggled with welding the plates. I must have been way out of practice. I wasnt too pleased but it worked. The machine will need additonal work. I couldnt access the other side of the small channel that was in the video. the doubler plate actually goes behind it for a good ways but we couldt get behind it. stuff will have to be removed.
Isaac once again pulled a rabbit out of your hat,,,, nice job tough conditions but you did it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas and happy new year from Samuel bacon
So if you go to a plumbing store you can get sheet lead for making shower pans it's cheap u can form it with your hand and use it for shields on hoses eletric etc
As a past heavy equip manager, I'd have someone drive from California to Nevada if I'd had any trouble: I think we put a mechanic up in a hotel for three months at one point just to have him on site to fill in with the local yahoos we had to deal with (sorry NV OE3, I like you guys . M)
Great video and job. I really enjoyed watching you guys do this job. Thanks for taking the time and hassle to video it. Let me get this straight, you remembered your heater but not a heavy coat? Did you go thru Dalhart or Stratford from Amarillo then Dumas? I grew up on a farm and ranch just north of Dalhart on the way to Boise City, OK. I also hunted pronghorn many years about 10 miles north of Limon. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, Isaac.
Ok sohowdoes that sideplatehild the weight of the crack on the top? Great weld, but we both know that one’s goons requires cab tear off to really fix it.
Actually, the hydraulic tank is what needs to be removed to make a more permanent repair. That is what we are going to repair once they finish this job.
Your customer knows who to call when they want it done right. Have a great Christmas.
Fantastic tip about the soapy water to help prevent grease fires! That will now be part of my tool kit when working around nasty equipment. Thanks!
When they needed nothing but the best talent, they imported Him from more than 700 miles away.

Looking at the previous botch it's no wounder they asked him

brings a new meaning to 'road call'
Heck of a service call. Especially under equipped for the cold conditions.
12:46 All that oil residual and hoses, was waiting for the thing to catch fire. Big complement when a company has you travel so far away
to get the job done. GREAT JOB 😺
I admire your talent for fixing the problems without making new ones or taking the whole machine apart.

Thank you Isaac for sharing this, class act as always
You came right through my home town. That is quite a long service call. Always enjoy the videos.
Always a privilege looking over your shoulder. Thanks for sharing.

Isaac, you and your Son, ROCKED that repair!👍👍 UNSTOPPABLE! Always a lesson learned and priceless information! Thank you!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You were traveling like a pipelines! That’s a serious road trip, nice job on the repair. Thanks for bringing us along.

Glad to have the PRO here in my home state of Colorado! Nice work Isaac (and son).
From Texas to Colorado and finished in 28 minutes. I carry a flashlight for the same reason shown pointing out the crack. Even in daylight a flashlight works great for looking in engines or crevices to see. I carry one everyday in addition to my pocketknife.
I always appreciate your transparency, job well done. I work on heavyequipment to also, not all jobs are perfect. The important thing is that it holds.
800 mile service call! That speaks volumes for your reputation and trust people have in you, Isaac.

Bless Always enjoy your videos. Your son must be a comfort & big help in your work. Thanks 🙏

Awesome repair there Isaac .
You feel the cold as you get older . Top job as always .
You’re one hell of a welder . Have a good Christmas 👍
Nothing like working in the cold! I live in the far east of Canada, working in -20 C with -10 wind chill. It's great haha. Love the video! 👊
Merry Christmas.
Thanks for the video Isaac that's a long haul pay must be good but you are the best. Take care of yourself and family and friends and be Blessed. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Great job Isaac! Played a gig in Lamar back in the 70s. Had a lotta fun. Forgot her name though...
Awesome job as always, nice tip on the soapy water mixture. Hope you added a COLD tax for this job, you guys earned it. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
Impressive job! Take care and be safe...
I just started watching, but I think I would have to tell them to remove the hoses and whatnot before I would tackle that job. Thanks for sharing.
I'll bet you were glad to get back to Austin!
Sure was!! As we left, the snow covered the area. I think they were shut down for three days. We outran it.
I like how they welded a spike plate to it.. lol
Great work. Thanks for filming.
Ive forgotten the really warm jacket at the shop or house before. Its definitely not fun.
Nice repair as always.
Nice work ICWeld and ICWJr thanks for sharing
Super job as always guys
Watching from the west of Ireland 🇮🇪
Awesome repair guys!
You do some really great work, Great vid.
I’ve driven 3 hours to change a fuse then 3 hours back home. Love them easy 8 hour days
You know he's good cuz he makes it look so easy. I don't even know what a torch is

I know work in the weather sucks
Man I’d work just for rhw lunch’s 😅awesome man deserve it
The cold is one thing, but when the wind is blowing, it's just downright miserable. Especially in Limon Co.
There is nothing to stop the wind .
Wow, what a road trip! Have a great Christmas :)
I have no idea about US geography so I had to look things up on Google maps, a 1600 mile plus round trip, wow. 😲
Isaac once again pulled a rabbit out of your hat,,,, nice job tough conditions but you did it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Merry Christmas and happy new year from Samuel bacon
You have fans everywhere Isaac. :)

Heater is class
Long trip 👍🏼👍🏼
Going to Colorado without a jacket in December😂😂😂😂
So if you go to a plumbing store you can get sheet lead for making shower pans it's cheap u can form it with your hand and use it for shields on hoses eletric etc
Thats a great idea. I have never considered lead sheets for blocking sparks. food for thought.

Ótimo trabalho!
I know you were freezing your butt off damm I got cold chills just watching!!
SHEEIIT that's one hellish straight road. I thought we had long straight roads on the Canadian prairies .
Nice job I would have to call that the Pac-Man patch😊
Very good video. I try to watch and learn from your videos. But I about froze out watching this video. :)
Great job!! 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sporting the Santa look. 👍

Wow, 800 miles or more!
Nizhonii yeii shii kis 👍💪🙌
Yay! An Isaac video
Chuffed another upload
I work on those nordco trips and spikers everyday. Those trips tear themselves apart if their not upgraded with plating
The rail lift cylinder mounts are next if their not plated
Great video and job. I really enjoyed watching you guys do this job. Thanks for taking the time and hassle to video it.
Let me get this straight, you remembered your heater but not a heavy coat?
Did you go thru Dalhart or Stratford from Amarillo then Dumas? I grew up on a farm and ranch just north of Dalhart on the way to Boise City, OK.
I also hunted pronghorn many years about 10 miles north of Limon.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, Isaac.
Dumas, Stratford, Boise City. Saw the big Steel Dinosaur. Pretty cool
@@ICWeld Thank you! Glad your travel went well. Treacherous country during winter storms. 🙂
Or about the distance from Moscow to Warsaw. 🙂
As you know, Not all welding sights are located on the beach with palm trees and pretty girls 😱
Don't forget your Blue Flag Protection...
The trip you made for this repair was a pretty long one
302 👍's up IC Weld thank you for sharing
Is that a railroad tie cross plate they had welded on there?
Ok sohowdoes that sideplatehild the weight of the crack on the top? Great weld, but we both know that one’s goons requires cab tear off to really fix it.
Actually, the hydraulic tank is what needs to be removed to make a more permanent repair. That is what we are going to repair once they finish this job.
Cool owl cap! Where can I get one? Thanks, Issac...I always learn so much from your videos.
Holy long distance house call. Mmmm... that's some nice smelling pier diem there.
Great repair !!!! What grade stick rod did you use for the weld .?
Is that a backup alarm or something dying!!! Lmao, that thing won't ever back over anybody!!!
Limon, CO? That's 810 miles from the nearest Top Notch Charcoal Hamburgers! Great to hear and see some arc gouging! Keep up the great work and videos.
I guess a 15hr drive. Hope you didn't forgot some tools
What process are you using for the welding? Mig , I assume but the gun you are using looks a bit different .
fluxcore
You figure those magnetic heaters you'd otherwise see on oil pans would be any help for a job like that?
You should of stopped in Dumas, just north of Amarillo.
I'd would of showed you our town soreheads.
I did but only for fuel. Dumas Dragons correct?
@ICWeld 😈 demons.
We are know for haveing foreheads running our town.
