    I have enjoyed a couple of your videos. I'm getting ready for a promotion assessment test, one of the steps is telling them about myself for 5 mins do you recommend a script or highlighting key points and getting them dialed in for the 5 mins allowed.

    Hi! Just wanted to ask, if you are a recent graduate applying to an internship, how can you avoid being repetitive in Part 1, where you must mention "where you are now." The internship is meant for recent graduates, and you would like to avoid starting with "I am a recent graduate."

    hey thanks for this video, very helpful. One question though, I'm taking a career break now, and when i do a job interview in the future how can i make the first part (where i am part) more natural as it's not like i'm currently working at a time i'm having a job interview? Thank you!

    • @ProfessorHeatherAustin
      @ProfessorHeatherAustin  2 года назад +1

      Great question! Yes, focus on where you are now and what you've done during your break that relates to the new position. For example, did you recently receive any certifications or seek out additional training? Or did you volunteer somewhere to brush up on your skills? Does that help?

    • @friendlyfiresyeah
      @friendlyfiresyeah 2 года назад +3

      @@ProfessorHeatherAustin thanks for your reply! Haha unfortunately I haven't really done anything related to my career during my break as I'm taking a break from severe burn out. Welp, but maybe I might start doing something or read something at least that can be related. Thank you!

  • @hikingviking859
    @hikingviking859 2 года назад +5

    The behavioral questions are getting harder. I have been interviewing for technical roles recently and I’m already burned out. Between the technical and the behavioral questions, it’s overwhelming.

    • @ProfessorHeatherAustin
      @ProfessorHeatherAustin  2 года назад +1

      Ashley, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree. Behavioral questions a getting harder. Look at this as a positive. It means your future employer really wants to know about you and your experience. They are taking a vested interest in you. Do you have some good stories you can share in relation to the technical roles you're applying for?

    What should someone say when they have been a stay at home mom for years? I have an interview Next Wednesday and this is always a question that I never know what to say.

    • @ProfessorHeatherAustin
      @ProfessorHeatherAustin  Год назад +3

      Being a stay at home mom is a full time job. You're the CEO and project manager of the household. Talk about your multi-tasking ability including any volunteer work or community work you've done. You've got this!

    The advice I always tell my clients is that you should ONLY talk about relevant skills/experience tied to the role you're applying for. They don't want to hear your life story.
