In the 1970s, when I lived in Holland, I listened to Indonesian songs on the radio. I recognize the melody. Thank you for sharing this story. I moved from Holland to Canada and now in Malaysia. You brought tears to my eyes.
This talk is so touching. It made me realise how much more meaningful it is beyond the institutional (racial-political) turmoil that Malaysia has gone through for decades. Thank you for your research and sharing of it, Saidah. :)
All Malaysians should watch this TED Talk . Malaysia is not one race , a religion , one direction. Malaysia is a melting pot of people from Indonesia, China, India , Portuguese & etc . And the Orang Asli welcomes us all to this beautiful tropical land ❤. Let’s be all & phased out extreme thoughts & negative energy. We are all & we will be strong !
She would have made a great Prime Minister of Malaysia .Such a strong , deep , moving and loving soul . Thank you madam for a very beautiful speech. Our leaders should make her a national treasure . A very GOOD lady .
It is from Indonesia origin..when one our sultan.. maybe the dymm Sri sultan of Perak went to London..then introduced the lagu as national anthem.. history never lies
I am not trying to stir the pot but I once read that when Malaysia gained her independence, it was Jimmy Boyle's Kemegahan Negaraku that was played because the national anthem had yet to be chosen. I love Negaraku but I just want to know if there's any truth to this.
Isn't it strange that a so important event like the origin of the National Anthem was not well recorded? No, I don't think so. Its a part of rewriting history and the history book and like the history or story of Hang Tuah went missing suddenly. The origin of Negara KU had been removed purposely , so as not to reveal who wrote it or where it originated. History of Malaysia is a sham but not shame . Sad , sad.
Raja Kita Selamat bertakhta.... All the controversy is because of this last line. Those who questioned the authority of our Malay Sultanate, including Tun Mahathir who deemed the decision of appointing Tan Sri Muhyuddin Yassin as the Prime Minister by His Majesty Agong as undemocratic, should be charged of treason and all his privilege of Malaysian Nationality be revoked instantly. After all, his father is an immigrant from Kerala and he is not a Malay at all! I call upon the Royal institution to act swiftly on Tun M, charged him for treason and treachery. It is he that put our country into spiralling economic turmoil in his 22 years and further 22 months of grandiosed, deluded, demented rule. We must put an end to his damaging antics. All that belongs to him and his family should be seized and returned to the people of Malaysia and they all should be thrown into the South China Sea.
Sorry Saidah but STEALING IS STEALING. As a composer you should be disgusted by musical plagiarism and as a lawyer you should understand the illegality of it. To try to justify it at all what more so cheaply is unforgivable.
God hears you and feels our heartfelt love for our beloved nation, Malaysia. He will bring prosperity and justice back.
Today, 3 years ago. Worth listening to even after all this time.

Wow! I know it as our national anthem, but to also consider it a lullaby and a love song makes it mean so very much more! Thank you!

Yes, true.
Negaraku. MALAYSIA
And finally it does not matter where the tune comes from. It is there and so we just let it be.

This is a Malaysian Love Song; demoralised by some leaders; promoted by others.
