Notice how the cranes in Spintires and Mudrunner can both reliably pick up 3 and 4 logs securely. If you pick up two logs in Snowrunner, you've got maybe a 40% chance that it becomes unbalanced and drops one, and picking up more than 2 is impossible.

Somehow logging wasnt that much fun for me in Snowrunner. Using the crane actually pissed me off, and I really cant tell why. Maybe because the crane feels weaker, maybe.
@@SD1ONE Yeah, in Snowrunner somehow the logs can spaze out and glitch trough the crane grabber and even though you can push out the arm, that doesnt mean that the crane will lift the log, so bad.
I just wish the grapple attachment was wider. Every time I pick up logs, they start tilting out of the grapple. Even if I grab them perfectly in the middle, I can pick them up balanced, but as soon as I swivel the crane, they become unbalanced.
Old ones are in Snwrun stock or dlc-Tayga 6455B and Spintires and real Kraz 255, Tuz Acteon and Gaz 66 and not same but something Khan Marshal and Uaz 469(Khan is bit custom-big wheels and ultra high suspension). Because of the redesigned crane...In mudrunner the logs cranes have empty seat for operator because they don't want to make a seperate animated human operator on crane. In Snowrunner, the crane has this operator cabin with black glass so that you can't judge if operator is sitting inside that cabin or not (ofcourse nobody is sitting inside that cabin). However I think that they should've used old crane design for trucks as that crane was more practical.
I just bought the original Spintires and most DLCs last week for 10$ and I was so impressed by it. There are so many unique gameplay features not only for logging but also Chernobyl radiation, China Adventure and the others. I feel like it's better than Mudrunner and it's very nice to play the original

I got my game and DLC Steam keys from Humble (where it's no longer available) and Gamesplanet. I suspect, that there's only a limited number of activation keys left :(

I miss having different designs of frames and trailers depending on which region you were in. I thought Mudrunner's Russian fuel cistern vs the American fuel cistern addons were really cool.
0:35 the mighty E-7429. This was (and I think its still is, even though its not in the Snowrunner) THE STRONGEST and best struck EVER! It could, as shown in the video, go just 1 TRIP to finish an entire lumber mill, + it almost NEVER STOPPED. Just the ultimate beast, nothing else.... 😏
I play on PC, so don't know about controller controls but for PC snowrunner controls are better than mudrunner....Crane mechanics however are better in mudrunner.

Every game is unique, so logging will vary from game to game. But the add-ons are hella lazy in Snowrunner. Like, for example: the TS can, and should, be able to carry medium logs with a addon
All the games are amazing, I love all of them. But with snowrunner i feel that it has alotta attention to detail with new things introduced to the game, over its predecessors, but at the same time a bit sloppy on existing features in the earlier games, like mud sound, actually feeling like you are in a mud pit, like mud smashing into your wheel wells, the sounds of a gravely road, in snow runner it's like oh I've slowed down, must be mud. I miss the immersion of hearing the sounds that made the wilderness feel more alive, although in that same breath, i love snowrunner because not every job is fking logzz

Nice comparation Man! Since it's a new game, I won't doubt that logging on snow runner will get lots of changes during it's time, but I agree with you that we need more variety. Logging add-ons and carts for different countries trucks would be nice because c'mon, everyone know that some trucks are russian even with skin changes. And also, foldable long log carts would be very good to see since this time even american trucks like P16 have those (btw, P16 would be the ONLY truck allowed to carry long logs IRL, since it's the only one with log shield behind the cabin and the fact that long log carts don't have shield modeled) The removal of load point mechanic seems actually more realistic, since IRL if you would need long logs for a construction and someone delivers you the points quantity of how much you wanted but as medium logs, you can't simply glue 2 logs together anymore.
Yeah, Snowrunner will keep getting new updates throughout this year, so we can expect a lot of addons, trailers, etc stuff in game. I wish they add something like K-700 or Skidder which are like proper logging machines.
I doubt that Snowrunner will improve in simulation perspective. It is a more arcadey game than Spintires and even Mudrunner. It is beautiful and have more diverse missions and... thats it.
Shame the way all the logs are the same width and aren’t overpacked, looking at new videos of the pacific p16 there are some of the normal width logs and some wider ones then 1 or (in rare cases) 2 massive logs. They are always stacked at least 1 and a half times the height of the log carrier it’s self.

Spintires was so much better. There was no roads and you had to find them yourself, mud was more realistic. And even tho game was "shorter", I often just picked the cargo and decided to cruise around (maybe even climb into the vulcan)
Makes complete sense that Spintires and Mudrunner had more things for logging since that's all you could really do in those games cargo wise. But it would be nice to see that foldable long log carrier again in SnowRunner. As far as I know some mod had it, but it was experimental.
I tried those mods but the they're super buggy to a point that you can't even detach them if glitch occur, your only option is to delete them through delete trailer option

I honestly couldn't never tell between the two medium log trailers and short log trailers they both look the same honestly from the looks of them and that goes for the logging add on's for trucks
I remember there was one contract where you had to deliver 3 loads of long logs to another region of the map that required 2 gateways to go through. That was the most infuriating contract I ever took because it basically meant 3 round trips through 2 gateways and 2 whole maps each because no matter how many logs you loaded it was always considered "one load."
If you take a truck with a crane attachment and a long sideboard trailer you can fit in 4-5 long log units (3 logs = 1 long log unit when packed onto the correct trailer ) and along the way stop by a garage, winch a truck and trailer with the correct equipment to put long logs. You should be able to do it in 1 trip then.
@@matchesburn You can tow vehicles through gateways (with or without trailers). You will just have to drive forward a bit so the ghosting effect disappears and then all you have to do is re-winch the vehicle and truck on ahead.
Sometimes I go with the logs unpacked, I cargo manually 6 logs for example and in the delivery area I put 3 logs in the ground, then pack the cargo and deliver It and then I take the cargo of the ground and repeat the process.
Snow runner really is lacking detail in a lot of ways. It feels like they went quantity over quality with trucks, cargo and maps. In alot of ways I enjoyed mudrunner more.
Yup, On that I can agree, they went for quatity over quality and this issue is common to most new games specially in racing genre forza horizon for example has now tons of cars but variety like engine sound, etc is not as much detailed as it was before.
Good video, but why MudRunner looks like Spintires 2014? Because I remember on it-I played it for long but always logs need to pack 3 ones and there was 3 sizes of logs. But I didnt have any dlc because I stopped play it long before 1st dlc and moved to Farm Sim 17 or 15, now I dont know. But Spintires looks like MudRunner. I never seen old Spintires with that graphic. But I can remember on first of first official demo. Yeah, what a beautiful time with Scania R720 V8 semi and Fire brigade Tatra T815 6x6. Mate Muddrunner & Snowrunner aren't old game's Spintire's is the oldest only dating back as far as 2014 They are Russian the Old Country as it's known hence has the old look & most truck's are from the 80's more or less not Counting Snowrunner Mid 2020 These where one of the most sold game's at the time of their launch something know one ever productid I got Mudrunner at launch expected to see a max of not even 10 Lobby's I couldn't even find the end of the list
The older systems were pretty complex so I don't hate the switch from load points to the size of logs. But the add ons is my problem, just not enough variety, also American trucks kinda pointless
I'll remind concept of Long log semitrailer (Shalanda this is what its name was in my game) in Spintires Edit: this trailer was in one version (I don't remember what this version was) and has been deleted quickly (because of the game mechanics which blocked loading of this trailer when it wasn't straight with the Truck. This trailer was just garage trailer without tent and had extended Borts
Yeah, I don't really get why they created a modular add-on system and hardly ever create more add-ons? Would love to have seen wheels+rims DLC packs and a wrecker body or just cosmetically different sideboards/fuel tanks. Especially because some add-ons and wheels look fucking weird on Russian trucks as they are clearly meant to be American.
Great vid and i also think that snowrunner has lost his log heritage from mudrunner and spintires with the diversity of trucks in snowrunner making different logging add on would have been better but apart that they keep making more maps, moreand more complicated with more tasks more cargos and trucks like the tatras which in my opinion doesn't reflect the true colors of tatras offroaders

I really miss the log crane/loader in Mudrunner was it much more easier and simpler to load logs and rearrange them while Snowrunner's log crane/loader is way too complicated and frustrating to use. I know that many others will agree with me on this issue.
If you're talking about snowrunner then you can't carry logs on beds as beds are only for loading cargo like bricks, pipes, wooden planks, etc.....To load logs you need to install logging addons like log carriage for short logs, log trailer for medium logs and log carrier front + rear for long logs.

Logging in all their games has always annoyed me with how much it misses. Log cranes in the US look most like the US Mudrunner style, but function completely different. We don't grab the middle, we grab near one end and catch the very end on a horn sticking off the boom and lift it that way. It is easy and quick and allows a shorter and lighter crane to be used and still move it anywhere. Short and medium logs are often stacked on the same trailer. A triple bunk semi trailer can load 2 sets of shorts, or 2 sets of medium, or 1 set of long, to use game terms. The long log dolly is telescopic and be made quite short for medium sizes, or extremely long for more than 3x the length of what the game uses. The truck I'm working with now can load a bunk or semi trailer, has a log crane on it as well. We have another driver in the company that owns his own setup, and packs his dolly (folds) onto the back of his truck when not in use. Hopefully it is just limitations in the game engine for why they did it how they have, but operating a real loader is much easier than the game version. And real ones can still grab the middle so it can be used both ways.
just reminding... Snowrunner has only 4 types of log loads cause has bunch of other types of cargo... Spintires/Mudrunner are doing only logging, nothing else, hence more types of logs...
They really dropped the ball in SnowRunner as far as logging is concerned. I was so excited tfor its comeback after my experience with MudRunner but now it's pretty much one of my least favorite thing to do. The fact that they have made sure we would take forever to complete the logging tasks is just frustrating. Cross map deliveries, awkward and very tippy crane that takes up all the space on the frame, no medium log racks except for 1 vehicle, no short log trailers. WTH!???? Seriously, it's hard not to think it was done on purpose when the whole concept of logging in SnowRunner is pretty much a step back in evolution when everything else got improved.
@@SD1ONE Yeah you are right about that. They have usually responded very efficiently to the players request in the past so..... Hopefully the fact that a lot of people have mentioned that they really don't like it, and things like your video that demonstrate very well that the SnowRunner version of logging is borderline "lazy" will show them that this needs correcting, but for the people who have completely finished the game and don't have time to replay it several times, it's a little too late to add the proper addons and go back to a logical and enjoyable system.
Since a few weeks, there is medium log carrier available with most of medium and heavy trucks It must’ve come with an update, it didn’t exist when I bought the game few months before I play on PS4

That's one big problem, yes. When unbalanced, the log can even get vertical so no way for you to put it in the trailer.

I feel Snowrunner is more about licensed vehicles and vehicle quantity - rather than customizability. They made things less unique in order to fit it all under one hat.

I think Saber decided to make things much more simple in snow runner.
Craning was bearable in Snowrunner
Mudrunner craning gave me Vietnam flashbacks of Farming Simulator 15, it was that bad.
I honestly couldn't never tell between the two medium log trailers and short log trailers they both look the same honestly from the looks of them and that goes for the logging add on's for trucks
I hope one of the next DLC will enrich logging in snowrunner, it was so much better in the previous game!
I remember there was one contract where you had to deliver 3 loads of long logs to another region of the map that required 2 gateways to go through. That was the most infuriating contract I ever took because it basically meant 3 round trips through 2 gateways and 2 whole maps each because no matter how many logs you loaded it was always considered "one load."
If you take a truck with a crane attachment and a long sideboard trailer you can fit in 4-5 long log units (3 logs = 1 long log unit when packed onto the correct trailer ) and along the way stop by a garage, winch a truck and trailer with the correct equipment to put long logs. You should be able to do it in 1 trip then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you couldn't carry winched vehicles and trailers through a gateway.
@@matchesburn You can tow vehicles through gateways (with or without trailers). You will just have to drive forward a bit so the ghosting effect disappears and then all you have to do is re-winch the vehicle and truck on ahead.
Sometimes I go with the logs unpacked, I cargo manually 6 logs for example and in the delivery area I put 3 logs in the ground, then pack the cargo and deliver It and then I take the cargo of the ground and repeat the process.
I also miss Russian and US specific addons and trailers. When there's a next game, I hope that they add it.

Snow runner really is lacking detail in a lot of ways. It feels like they went quantity over quality with trucks, cargo and maps. In alot of ways I enjoyed mudrunner more.
Yup, On that I can agree, they went for quatity over quality and this issue is common to most new games specially in racing genre forza horizon for example has now tons of cars but variety like engine sound, etc is not as much detailed as it was before.

I have to say, Vanilla Snowrunner logging is very bare bones, but modders have picked up A LOT of the slack.

Good video, but why MudRunner looks like Spintires 2014? Because I remember on it-I played it for long but always logs need to pack 3 ones and there was 3 sizes of logs. But I didnt have any dlc because I stopped play it long before 1st dlc and moved to Farm Sim 17 or 15, now I dont know. But Spintires looks like MudRunner. I never seen old Spintires with that graphic. But I can remember on first of first official demo. Yeah, what a beautiful time with Scania R720 V8 semi and Fire brigade Tatra T815 6x6. But dakar "MAD" Kamaz was best ;)
I don’t understood why snowrunner trucks cannot carry medim logs without a trailer. Is really anoying take 1 pile of medium logs and leave half truck empty.

The older systems were pretty complex so I don't hate the switch from load points to the size of logs. But the add ons is my problem, just not enough variety, also American trucks kinda pointless

Edit: this trailer was in one version (I don't remember what this version was) and has been deleted quickly (because of the game mechanics which blocked loading of this trailer when it wasn't straight with the Truck. This trailer was just garage trailer without tent and had extended Borts

Yeah, I don't really get why they created a modular add-on system and hardly ever create more add-ons? Would love to have seen wheels+rims DLC packs and a wrecker body or just cosmetically different sideboards/fuel tanks. Especially because some add-ons and wheels look fucking weird on Russian trucks as they are clearly meant to be American.
Great vid and i also think that snowrunner has lost his log heritage from mudrunner and spintires with the diversity of trucks in snowrunner making different logging add on would have been better but apart that they keep making more maps, moreand more complicated with more tasks more cargos and trucks like the tatras which in my opinion doesn't reflect the true colors of tatras offroaders

I really miss the log crane/loader in Mudrunner was it much more easier and simpler to load logs and rearrange them while Snowrunner's log crane/loader is way too complicated and frustrating to use.

how can you carry logs on your trucks bed? I see the addon but no option to load logs on to it.
If you're talking about snowrunner then you can't carry logs on beds as beds are only for loading cargo like bricks, pipes, wooden planks, etc.....To load logs you need to install logging addons like log carriage for short logs, log trailer for medium logs and log carrier front + rear for long logs.

Logging in all their games has always annoyed me with how much it misses.
Log cranes in the US look most like the US Mudrunner style, but function completely different. We don't grab the middle, we grab near one end and catch the very end on a horn sticking off the boom and lift it that way. It is easy and quick and allows a shorter and lighter crane to be used and still move it anywhere.
Short and medium logs are often stacked on the same trailer. A triple bunk semi trailer can load 2 sets of shorts, or 2 sets of medium, or 1 set of long, to use game terms.
The long log dolly is telescopic and be made quite short for medium sizes, or extremely long for more than 3x the length of what the game uses.
The truck I'm working with now can load a bunk or semi trailer, has a log crane on it as well. We have another driver in the company that owns his own setup, and packs his dolly (folds) onto the back of his truck when not in use.
Hopefully it is just limitations in the game engine for why they did it how they have, but operating a real loader is much easier than the game version. And real ones can still grab the middle so it can be used both ways.

just reminding... Snowrunner has only 4 types of log loads cause has bunch of other types of cargo... Spintires/Mudrunner are doing only logging, nothing else, hence more types of logs...

They really dropped the ball in SnowRunner as far as logging is concerned. I was so excited tfor its comeback after my experience with MudRunner but now it's pretty much one of my least favorite thing to do. The fact that they have made sure we would take forever to complete the logging tasks is just frustrating. Cross map deliveries, awkward and very tippy crane that takes up all the space on the frame, no medium log racks except for 1 vehicle, no short log trailers. WTH!???? Seriously, it's hard not to think it was done on purpose when the whole concept of logging in SnowRunner is pretty much a step back in evolution when everything else got improved.
I still have hope for snowrunner, it's still a new game and I belive they'll add more logging addons, trailers, etc in future.
@@SD1ONE Yeah you are right about that. They have usually responded very efficiently to the players request in the past so..... Hopefully the fact that a lot of people have mentioned that they really don't like it, and things like your video that demonstrate very well that the SnowRunner version of logging is borderline "lazy" will show them that this needs correcting, but for the people who have completely finished the game and don't have time to replay it several times, it's a little too late to add the proper addons and go back to a logical and enjoyable system.
