Rick Pitino, the first coach to win championship titles at two different schools .. I think, but more importantly in the same state. I always come back to this game and occasionally I'll watch the five overtime game facing Notre Dame that year which was the last time Louisville lost that year. We called it the year of the Cardinal but the football Orange bowl, men's basketball champs number one overall seed and then women's basketball lady cards fell short. Not being a homer but I can't argue. This is one of the best national championship games that I've seen or we witnessed. I also felt that the previous year 2012 when Louisville and Kentucky matched up in the final four that whoever won that game was going to get that title.. But again Cheers to Michigan! That one was even worse than losing to them in the 2012 Final Four because we weren't even supposed to make it that far in 2012, we just got hot at the right time and went on a run. And in 2014 UConn won it all, who Louisville beat THREE times that season.

Those 3s by Hancock when I was watching this game just let me know louisville had it. Every time things looked bad for the cards that year Hancock was always there to swing the momentum, then they would be unstoppable
Wow..what a great game watching it again. Some Michigan fans and UK fans may try to say that Michigan got robbed, which makes no sense, because there were little controversial calls at all. And if you wanna bring up officiating, how about Chane Behanan getting absolutely hacked while getting 3 or 4 offensive rebounds in a row, and no calls? There are tons more very questionable calls, but none even with 2 or 3 minutes left. It was all basketball then. Louisville was clearly the better team and is clearly one of the best teams that played together and when playing together is almost unstoppable. There is no denying that. That Louisville team is arguably one of the best ever. It may have not been full of NBA stars, but great team players and college basketball players. Lets not forget they have a Hall of Fame coach on the sideline.
Lets also not forget that Michigan had a 16 point lead that Louisville completely dominated. That comeback was all Louisville. Even if it wasn't you can't argue officiating when Michigan blew such a big lead. That team was full of fighters, they were not going to loose that game.
I cried at the end because after a amazing tourney we came up so short.... but it was a good game and Michigan was great at the first half then just didn't have it in the second #GOBLUE
i havnt cried since i was 13 and i almost did after this game like my eyes were watering. but they would of been tears of joy because im a Louisville fan. but i feel that i cried like a little bitch when the steelers lost the super bowl
Different sport for me but about a week before this game I absolutely broke down and cried when it ended for two reasons. One it was something I thought I would never see and two was a personal reason. My dad who was a fan had died about 3 months earlier and I know how much this would have meant to him and knowing he wasn't here to see it caused me to have an emotional time. The wound was still raw from losing my dad shortly before and the emotion just poured out. And FWIW it was the 2013 NCAA Hockey tourney and our(we went to the same school) ended up in the Frozen Four for the 1st time ever.
As a Michigan fan I was sad to see them lose this big of a game. They proved themselves in the tournament like no other, but Louisville also showed why they were Number 1 overall, and congratulations to them.
This is the international (non-US) call by Vitale and ESPN's squad. I wish ESPN at least had the rights to broadcast the men's Final Four in the USA. CBS/Turner's coverage is great, but nothing hits the same as listening to the pure excitement of Dickie V going nuts on the biggest stage.
Exactly what i said not too long ago. It WASN'T the block attempt (as so many people wrongfully assumed the referee called the foul on), it was the lower body at Burke's other arm.
Burke's block was clean. It would be a big momentum lift. However, overall Louisville was the better team and deserved the win. This is one of the most entertaining games in recent NCAA Tournament history. Burke was playing like the consensus player of the year for Michigan.
i couldnt ask for a better championship game......this was a phenomenal display of x's and o's.......one good defensive minded coach in rick pitino....and a good offensive coach john beilein......this is a classic....
At 39:21 the place where I watched the game went so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. That was the most amazing first half of NCAA finals basketball since Kansas and Oklahoma turned in their 50-50 halftime tie in the 1988 championship game.
There will be salty Michigan fans throwing a fit over this game for ages. Can't we all just agree that this was probably one of the best title games ever? The dark horse player who has to step up, the team that has to come back from the trenches, the dog fight in the 2nd half that was neck and neck... A recipe for perfection.
I went to Mich State for a year, Univ of Mich for another year; graduated from Univ of Florida. That Louisville team is the BEST team to come along the tournament since Jordans Tar Heels, Ewing's Hoya's, Olajuwon's Univ of Houston; Mich State & Magic Johnson. The best team in a long, long time. The bigger Wolverines just didn't have enuf in the tank; they ran outta gas; then they got run around, and over by the physically conditioned Cardinals. Outstanding, Louisville, enjoy the championship
@@ernestkovach3305 No, they really did not. The masterminds, their jobs maybe because with all of that behind the scenes shennanigans, they still didn't have questionably or significantly great players. And likely all players were not involved. NCAA decision seems excessive and vindictive. Doesn't change the truth however and still today six years later, people are still watching that game. So Louisville keeps winning over and over again and again and ifinitely. GO CARDS FOREVER!

Who is your favorite player now?
Haha I never sat for one minute during this game. I was so hype. When Luke hit those 4 3’s in like a minute..WOW. I was about to blow the roof off my house. GO CARDS!! Will always be the 2013 champs.
Dude jumped high as hell 💀
@ 1:34:50 Luke Hancock says "I'm about to get so fucked up" haha. I'm a huge UofL fan so that was beyond funny to see lol. Great game. Great win. Great team. L1C4.
Than they just took it away 😪
@@ligmaballs2834 They can try, but you can't erase history. We KNOW what happened and nothing can change that.
@@ligmaballs2834 Fuck em
@@ligmaballs2834 Banner or no banner we won this
Yep I watched it tonight the night of the 2021 championship!! Awesome awesome awesome
Still just as sweet as it was that night! Go Cards!
what a year 2013 was for Louisville!! With the recruiting class of 17' packed with players that fit so well in the Pitino system WATCH OUT!!! Rick will hang Another championship banner before he's hangs it up
Man....what a GAME!!! And hats off to Syracuse who indeed had a squad!!
Go Cards!!
it's crazy that this game was 4 years ago. I was so hyped when Hancock hit those 4 threes. when Trez caught that lob and we took the lead I knew we would win the game. GO CARDS!!
Now it’s been 10 years. Time flies.
This was 1 Heck of a NC TITLE Game.
Outside of VILLANOVA Buzzer beater over UNC and ARIZONA over U.K. In 97, this is Right Up there with the greatest games. Close, Good amount of Lead changes and exciting Title game.
LOUISVILLE A Great Team that year. Respect Deserved.
I was yelling get the rebounde!! the whole time XD LOL
Huge Michigan fan, but what a fantastic basketball game. Congrats to Louisville. Great game! Fun to watch.
2013 champs for life no matter what
Don't i miss games like this

Mitch Mcgary
Glenn Robinson.. damn
+Chanse Cory Nick Stauskas is in the league too
+Rayparri Parris ik he is can't believe i forgot I'm a Michigan basketball fan just not a die hard Michigan basketball fan I like Michigan football a lot tho
the whole lineup is in the NBA pretty impressive
All left too early...so did Stauskas!
to a cheating Louisville team...who had to vacate the title
Best game of the year played by the best two teams in the nation, and probably the best offense against the best defense.
Those 3s by Hancock when I was watching this game just let me know louisville had it. Every time things looked bad for the cards that year Hancock was always there to swing the momentum, then they would be unstoppable
Welcome to Utah, Trey! We are thrilled to have you.
Epic game! Well deserved by Louisville!
Honestly this was an amazing game and both Michigan and Louisville played their her
Wow..what a great game watching it again.
I still can't believe we won it. It never gets old.
Can't change destiny my friend. different opponent, same outcome! Louisville 2013 NCAA Champs!
Mark Jaggers not now
Different sport for me but about a week before this game I absolutely broke down and cried when it ended for two reasons.
They played hard. Respect.
that game was boss one of the best games of basketball i seen in a while
This is the best Louisville team and it will never be beat
Best team Pitino's, er, McGee's (yeah, right) money could buy. Now say 'bye' to the banner.
Trey B. Cartwright nah fam we ain't saying good bye to nothing
Sweeet, cheers for the upload. Missed the game.
LOUEVIL could have a Dynasty on their hands...Keep On Keeping On!!
you spelled louisville wrong.idiot
Lol only if they cheat
This aged poorly
Your a real life saver bro ! GOD LOVES YOU FOR THIS UPLOAD !
What a team Louisville had
Exactly what i said not too long ago. It WASN'T the block attempt (as so many people wrongfully assumed the referee called the foul on), it was the lower body at Burke's other arm.
That play at 39:20 was freaking beautiful.
+iha asc That's alley-opp
The last 3 minutes of that first half is the best moment in UL basketball history.
Burke's block was clean. It would be a big momentum lift. However, overall Louisville was the better team and deserved the win. This is one of the most entertaining games in recent NCAA Tournament history. Burke was playing like the consensus player of the year for Michigan.
Giannis Ioannidis he was
i couldnt ask for a better championship game......this was a phenomenal display of x's and o's.......one good defensive minded coach in rick pitino....and a good offensive coach john beilein......this is a classic....
Damn these two teams were stacked. At least 7 out of 10 of the starters are pros now. What a great game.
as a michigan fan ive watched the first half of this game so many times... but i never stick around for the second
Damn I was in high school...time flies
At 39:21 the place where I watched the game went so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. That was the most amazing first half of NCAA finals basketball since Kansas and Oklahoma turned in their 50-50 halftime tie in the 1988 championship game.
There will be salty Michigan fans throwing a fit over this game for ages. Can't we all just agree that this was probably one of the best title games ever? The dark horse player who has to step up, the team that has to come back from the trenches, the dog fight in the 2nd half that was neck and neck... A recipe for perfection.
If Hancock doesn't single handedly erase that 12 point deficit Michigan wins! Credit to him for stepping up Bigtime!
Evan Lukat agreed
I went to Mich State for a year, Univ of Mich for another year; graduated from Univ of Florida. That Louisville team is the BEST team to come along the tournament since Jordans Tar Heels, Ewing's Hoya's, Olajuwon's Univ of Houston; Mich State & Magic Johnson. The best team in a long, long time. The bigger Wolverines just didn't have enuf in the tank; they ran outta gas; then they got run around, and over by the physically conditioned Cardinals. Outstanding, Louisville, enjoy the championship
God damn it, Chane. Why couldn't you stay clean?
Jeffrey Riley love this even in 2019, STAY OFF THE WEEEEEEED -stephen a and all of louisville
I was very, very proud of the 1980 and '86 champion Cardinals. And I still am.
MAN LOUISVILLE DIDNT DESERVE TO LOSE THEIR CHAMPIONSHIP
Yes...yes they did.
@@ernestkovach3305 No...no they didn't. Get over yourself
@@philomenadale2134 Yes they did.
Reid ON RUclips they legitimately cheated.... didn’t think it was possible but Louisville found a way and happened to “win” a championship in the process which rightfully belongs to Michigan.
I know, right! Wow I was sooo hyped. Something I probably wont forget.
why is this vid just a black screen for an hour and a half :/
