Sporting a fourteen point lead in the NCAA Tournament Final? This team was just head & shoulders above every team. They should, in my opinion, go down as one of the most dominant of all-time. Going 38-2 in todays game was just amazing to watch.

txtst well being a 1-seed themselves they only had two opportunities to play a fellow 1-seed. In the Final Four & 'Ship.

IMO, if IU doesn't hit the last second 3, this team goes 40-0. The SEC Tournament Championship meant nothing.

My dad died a few years later in 2015. R.I.P. Dad. Watching this game I knew it might be the last time I would see Kentucky win a national championship with him alive next to me. I remember fighting back tears because of it. Kentucky basketball is not just a team it's a religion down there. To this day as a grown man whenever I see this I can't help but cry tears of joy, and if Kentucky ever wins it all again as a grown man I will cry uncontrollably. Thank you for that moment Kentucky. Thank you for being there always dad. R.I.P. , I'll always love you and god bless Kentucky basketball I will always love you too.

The greatest night of my young life! I was merely weeks into my Air Force career, fresh out of Basic Training by a week staying up past curfew risking getting in trouble watching this game in the dayroom of the dormitories of Keesler AFB, Mississippi. They were going to have to drag me out dead to get away from the TV that night. UK's previous National Title was in 1998, hadn't even started school yet and would not until August of that year.

Kentucky Fan here. Hats off to you and your Kansas Jayhawks. What a game that was (even though it's coming up on two years since it was played) Sorry to see you guys go out early in the tournament. Best of luck next year!

    • @jayhawkedits
      @jayhawkedits 10 лет назад +1

Ya it was a fun run. It was special because that Kansas team wasn't expected to make that much noise in the tournament. Including the dramatic games (Purdue, NCState, and Ohio St) gave me a heart attack. I was pleased how KU cameback from 17 down to make it a game late.
Yes the early tournament loss hurt. But we weren't consistent all year. Embiid and Wiggins were only consistent scorers. And if you don't have a PG. You will die in the tournament.

that 2012 KU team was Selfs best coaching job..that team was made up of back ups,walk-ons, raw unpolished players and guys that wouldnt see the floor on most KU squads..I didnt expect them to beat UNC even without Marshall..and watching that Ohio state game, I couldnt tell you how they managed to win that game...this team should have won about 23 games, gotten a 6 seed and been out by the sweet 16....they were severely over matched in this game..the fact that they even made it as close as it was was a miracle

      2 flaws in your logic
      1) if they had to stay 4 years most of these kids would go elsewhere..they never go to UK..Cal has done a good job and all, but most of the NBA draft ISNT made up of UK players and most NBA players didnt go to UK..Anthony Davis wouldnt have gone to UK if he had t sit behind Cousins..UK isnt the only program that gets guys to the NBA
      2) the age rule also helps KU, DUKE, UNC, AZ and other programs as well..it wouldnt just be UK and everyone else

Vijay Danushkodi , As a lifelong, born and raised Kentucky Wildcat fan, I could maybe go along with your comment if Coach Rupp was the only coach who ever coached at Kentucky that won the national championship. I respect that Coach Rupp "learned" under the late, great Fog Allen, but Fog Allen nor Adolph Rupp really had anything at all to do with the proud Kentucky tradition carried on over the years by coaches Joe B. Hall, Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith, & John Calipari who recruited their own All-Americans and hung their own national championship banners. While Adolph Rupp may certainly have been Kentucky's first great coach, to say the whole history of Kentucky basketball is tied to Kansas and Fog Allen is to say that Joe B. Hall, Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith, & John Calipari weren't capable coaches in their own right, and that my friend is absolutely false.

Coincidentially, both UK and KU have two things in common this year: Both are relying on size (particularly UK in terms of the frontcourt), BUT are young (most notable in Bill Self's case). Last year's Kansas team was more experienced, which propelled them to a very hot start after losing to Michigan State in the Champions Classic.

Yeah, they were a remarkable team; all kinds of offensive weapons, #1 defense in the nation, and POY. All they were missing really was a little deeper bench.

Terrence Jones is underrated he is physical and strong and helps defend guys like Robinson and can score well too. Davis struggles against stronger guys like when he played Cody Zeller and he probably would too if he played someone like Sullinger. Terrence Jones really helps Davis out in physical match ups..

Both UK and KU had one thing in common this past season: they had their revered home winning streaks snapped (Before Baylor, UK hadn't lost at home since Georgia in March 2009, and before OKST, Kansas had not lost at home since Texas in 2011 - Thomas Robinson had a family matter).

Kentucky were probably top 5 team all-time! But people forget North Carolina also had a heck of a team in 2011-2012. Kendall Marshall, Tyler Zeller, John Henson, James Michael McAdoo, Reggie Bullock and PJ Hairston. Lost in Elite 8 to Kansas i think because half of the team was injured.

jonte213 2012 KY team not in the top 50 teams of all time. If they stayed together for a three or four year period, maybe a top 10. Before the one and done era, you had all time great players stay through junior and senior years. Alcindor, Walton, Hayes, Jordan, Manning, Grant Hill, Laettner, Ewing, Olajuwon, Drexler, Worthy. In the 1981- 85 final four here were some of the stars, Patrick Ewing, Akeem Olajuwon, Sam Bowie, Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Clyde Drexler, Rodney McCray, Ralph Sampson, Eric Floyd, Isiah Thomas,

I always wondered what would have happened had Johnson not traveled on the 3 he stuck with 25 seconds left. Would have made it a 3-point game and Kentucky hadn't had very many games where they had to make pressure free throws in the last seconds that season.
