Having grown up in Charlottetown, gone to university in Halifax, and currently living in Moncton (NB), I can attest that you guys are doing a great job in covering Atlantic Canada. I'm sure the ghost of LM Montgomery will forgive you over Anne of Green Gables. Anne is a big deal. There have been movies and several TV series. Think of the popularity of Little House on the Prairie or Heidi. The books are beloved worldwide, especially in Japan. They were introduced into their school curriculum over there after WW2, and Anne has become a hero to all teenage Japanese girls. Lots of Japanese tourism on PEI. One other thing - the sands at Basin Head don't really sing, they squeak when you walk over it. The sand has to be really dry. It is a real phenomenon, but, I always thought it underwhelming.
Don't worry I made sure LM Montgomery got some spotlight (even though I almost mispronounced her name 😂 ) ruclips.net/video/QNI7m2K4-8Y/видео.htmlsi=LDrsSIYdNzrNEepr
Thank you. We will admit though we’ve gotten a lot of this type of weather lately it’s been tough getting out of the van and pushing through it. But it’s always worth it in the end. The biggest issue is getting the cameras wet. If we had better gear to protect it more in the rain it wouldn’t be a big deal. That’s something we’re going to look into more when we get back home. Thanks for saying that!
I got so excited when you mentioned Green Gables and then you blew it off. Ugh. Your definitely must watch the mini series with Megan Follows it is a Canadian classic that is loved by all. You will not be disappointed. Great video
Absolutely one of my favourite channels on RUclips I’m travelling to America from Ireland in May next year. And because of this channel I’ve been able to plan my whole trip . You guys have been such a great help love watching your videos.
Oh that is so awesome to hear! If you have any questions with any specific places or things to do send us an email! Would love to hear where you're thinking of visiting Thank you for watching!
Such an incredibly beautiful island…loved it! You two make such high quality and entertaining videos! I love seeing all the food you eat…so yummy!!! Thank you!
Super thrilled you got to experience PEI. It’s such a lovely place! I went twice because of LM Montgomery. As always, you did a great job with your coverage. Do yourself a favor though and see the Kevin Sullivan version of the Anne movies. They truly are my most favorite movies EVER!!!
Hi, my wife and I have been binge watching your videos.....Wow, you guys are the best in these types of travel videos....informative, entertaining and fun.... Keep it up!!!!
The sand "sings" on lots of Michigan beaches as well. It's more of a squeaking sound than singing. Really enjoyed this vlog even as an Anne of Green Gables fan. You'll at least have to watch the movie! 😀
Another great video. We have visited PEI many times growing up with our families and again when we had our own children. Now we go as adults with other family & eventually our grandchildren. It is a magical place & so much fun in so many ways! Glad you got to experience it.
Love watching all your videos. I was married in a lighthouse to a Coast Guard Lighthouse Keeper. I have not been to any of the lighthouses on that island, thank you for the awesome pictures.
We have gotten the PEI singing sands to sing. It was more than 25 years ago, but we still remember the soft squeaky noise it made when you scuffed your way across it. As a side benefit, your feet would get completely exfoliated in the process.
So much to see- so little time.!! Thanks for another adventure for all of us to enjoy. Kona sure enjoys her trips with you. Can't wait to see the next episode. Travel safe and have fun. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
Well, another place added to my bucket list! lol Loved Prince Edward Island! So beautiful even in the rain and wind! Can't wait to see what's next! Safe travels!
Excellent video! The drone shots are stunning. I grew up a few minutes from the North Cape Lighthouse. I want to commend you on getting the local pronunciations right i.e. Souris. Most RUclipsrs don't take time to learn the correct way to say place names. Kudos to you. And I chuckled when you ordered fries with the works. Definitely a local favourite where I grew up!
Thank you so much! We do try really really hard to get the pronunciations right so I'm glad we got that one right! Fries with the works was 💯! Thank you and thanks for watching!
Beautiful guys! A much needed break after your biking trip. PEI is spectacular and I was drooling over all the yummy food you got to taste. Kathryn the Double Decker is one of my favorite chocolate from London. It is Chocolate and Nougat😋😋. Looking forward to your upcoming adventures.
Hurricane Tropical Storm Lee just hit the New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, including Bay of Fundy. Hope everyone is all right. Beautiful area and video.🇺🇸🇨🇦
My family drove from PA to Canada with a RV trailer home up to PEI when I was in HS. It was our favorite family vacation. We spent a week at Cavendish Bch, so beautiful, this was in the 70s. My dad cooked lobster in a pressure cooker. I was surprised you didn’t eat any lobster. I saw my first Broadway style play in Charlottetown, Johnny Belinda. You brought back great memories!
Oh, Adam and Kathryn. You guys have never read Anne of Green Gables??? As someone commented, Anne of Green Gables is SUPER loved and popular in Japan. And I am from Japan. I read all five volumes of Anne's stories in Japanese. I even own some copies now. I use these Japanese translation of Anne of Green Gables to teach Japanese. Please read Anne of Green Gables and go back to Prince Edward Island!!
Hey, way to go on giving a good overview of the birth of Canada! Now you all know why July 1st is our day and July 4th is yours! Ok, you really need to read Anne of Green Gables! Its a classic!!
We love you guys!!! Not only are you informative, you make me laugh every time! Kathryn, you and the umbrella on the beach was hilarious! The potato fudge looked delish! We are visiting Maine in a few weeks and will stop by Holy Donut because we "discovered" it through you guys! Keep up the great videos and thank you for making us laugh!! 😀
I will never look at the eye of a potato again and not imagine lashes. Thank you you guys your videos are fun you make me happy and my son is Adam and his wife’s name is Kathryn spelled just like yours, so that put you even more in a special place in my heart.
I am so happy that you understand the history of Canada…. Your correct pronunciation of all the places you visit is heartwarming….. you even hit the French pronunciation…. Impressive…..isnt PEI just gorgeous
You got to boondock at a lighthouse. That's so cool! The fact that the museum put the diseased potatos in coffins is hilarious. The bottle village was really beautiful. What an great trip. I've wanted to visit PEI for a while and you've only added to my desitre to go there.
Yeah it was such a cool experience! It was neat to look out the window and see the light flashing. The potatoes in coffins got a laugh from us too! 😂 We hope you can visit! It was great!
Loved this video! P.E.I. is beautiful. Those fries looked delicious! Was a little disappointed in not seeing Anne Of Green Gables sights. But I totally understand. There are places associated with certain books or movies that people love that I would not care anything about. As always, thank you for sharing!
I too am a hot sauce weenie! PEI is such a neat island and you can binge on everything from lakes to light houses to red heated girls in pigtails. Thanks for the memories!
Little late to the party watching this but I didn’t exactly believe the Singing Sands of Basinhead Beach at first. But the trick is the dry sand. Drier the better. And it doesn’t exactly sing. But it sounds like walking on squeaky wooden boards. Pretty neat! I’ll also add that it’s my favourite beach in the Maritimes when it’s bright and sunny. Glad you enjoyed your trip!
About @23:32; Anne of Green Gables... Not upset. At least you mentioned it. Thank you for answering my unasked question, if it was Truly there. There's an actual Series that you can watch... Anne of Green Gables Anne of Avenlea Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story If anyone wants to Binge watch something... 🤟🤗
we have a singing beach in Massachusetts. the sand kind of squeaks when you walk on it kind of the same way really cold snow squeaks when you walk on it.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful island. I wondered if you would mention Anne of Green Gables. (One of my favorite books/movies.) I'm glad I am able to enjoy your adventures in the Maritimes since I will probably never visit there. Your videos are amazing!
We retired from Ontario to PEI and now live close to Holman's Ice Cream which is located in the beautiful city of Summerside. they do make fantastic treats
Those fries with the works reminds me of Sunday dinner at Mom's & Dad's, but all diced and piled on top of fries, instead of as separate items on a plate (roast beef, peas & potatoes). Looked yummy! 😋
Hi Guys, welcome back to the Martimes....especially PEI, much enjoyed ths video, such an amazing place to visit. fortunate to have visited on a few occasions. Looking forward to NFLD..
I grew up visiting my uncle and cousins at their cottage in Nova Scotia on Northumberland Strait, looking across at PEI. But I've never been across. Thanks so much for the armchair tour.
I'm just catching up on the Eastern Canada videos, such a great series, very interesting I was only an infant when my parents traveled to Nova Scotia and Eastern Canada, taking me along I only wish I could visit now as an adult and see these beautiful places so thanks for sharing, also I saw the Anne of Green Gables movie once on TV, I think it would be really neat to see the tourist spots you mentioned
Wow, squeaky sand AND squeaky cheese!!! You know the curds are legit when they squeak. I've never had these in Newfoundland (they might make them a bit differently there) but Newfie Fries are soooo good. Where we live in Ontario they are made with fries, peas, savoury stuffing/dressing and beef gravy, Fried onions are also an option. As for the sand, it was a cloudy day, so the sand was probably not hot enough. You might have had better luck if you had taken a handful and rubbed it between your hands. There was a news piece on one of our National TV stations the other night about Hannah's Bottle Village. They have surpassed their $100,000 goal. The owner wanted to make it clear that those were not all his empty wine bottles. Ha Ha, yes, Anne of Green Gables is very popular in Canada. The TV series that was aired in Canada and the US won an Emmy. When you were in Souris, you were just minutes from celebrity Chef Michael Smith's unique restaurant/Inn in Fortune Bay. The majority of their ingredients come from their own organic farm (grown, foraged etc). They have a fire feast where everything is cooked using some form of fire. They don't use stoves. Enjoy the rest of your trip!!
Those were good curds! We'll try that trick with the sand next time! That is so cool to hear about Hannah's Bottle Village! It would have been really cool to experience that fire feast. Never heard of that chef before, but I do remember seeing signs for it Thanks and thanks for watching!
The sands were wet when we were on the island as well. We did take the ferry from Souris to the Ila de Magdalen, and definitely heard the singing (squeaking) sands in their amazing beaches. Managed to do twinkle twinkle 😂
I’ve never been to PEI, but I’m from Michigan and the sand on Lake Michigan “sings”. It is more of a squeak though (think the sound of an arm pit fart and you’ll be in the neighborhood)
I just love watching y'all's videos! always SO informative & FUN! PEI is a place I've always wanted to visit & now I know more about some of the great places to see when I go! Thank y'all so much! 😍
I haven't been since 1989. It was a great trip! We saw the glass houses, miniature village, miniature train ride. On a previous trip I did Ann of Green Gables and that potato museum. You skipped Potato World and Covered Bridge Potato Chips in New Brunswick! It was fun. Butter is not a health issue! Too much starchy and sugary carbs are though. We hope to get back east next summer, or the year after. So many places to explore in Canada!
Tons to do on PEI! And it’s beautiful! We didn’t do the New Brunswick potato things because we knew we would be in PEI Yes so many places! Lovely country!
The island looks amazingly fun! I love that beach 😊 The sand color is similar to that on the beaches of the Apostle Islands. I can attest after eating chhese curds everyday for 3 weeks, everything is better with cheese curds! Fun episode! I won't mention the other thing 😅
Yes we really had lots of Apostle Islands comparisons in our head. There and at Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick. Yes...cheese curds on everything! 😂 Thanks for going easy on us! 😂
When I visited PEI, we did this cool kayak trip to PEI preserve and stopped for lunch and then paddles back. Highly recommend visiting PEI Preserves that way.
Great Video! We are planning to go in December (around Christmas time), these coastal drives on muddy streets will be open and are safe to drive in the snow?
You missed one of the best parts of PEL…did you have any fish? The Blue Mussels are to die for… grown in the bays….all over the island…great trip around the island but do go back and try the mussels!!!
We like seafood, but normally don't go out of our way for it. It's usually more money than we want to pay for the amount of food you get. We had heard great things about the mussels though. Next time!
Love this video it is great I've been to Pei two times now I live in New Brunswick and I'm going to go on a trip there next month for my third time😊 and I was wondering what is the beach called that you found a little bit of sea glass? I would love to try and find some sea glass on my trip there in a few weeks so I can fill a mini bottle and make it into a necklace for a memory piece😊
RE: singing sands...We experience "singing sands" in Northern Michigan; it's a legit thing, but it requires a very specific set of conditions. You need dry sand, and it needs to be fresh, "virgin" (sand that's been windswept, so it's smooth, and free of footprints). Additionally, you have to be barefoot, and as you step forward, you sort of curl your toes up, and scuff the balls of your feet into the flat plane of the sand. I'm making it sound do complicated, but having grown up on Lake Michigan, it's totally second nature to me, as I love making the sand "squeak" (that's what we always called it, locally). 😁
We enjoyed today's video, but my wife is the Anne of Green gables fan you were talking about. She wanted more and of Green gables content. Lol. Great content.
Enjoy the video, was reaffirmed on the nutritional value of the potato and learned where Prince Edward island was. I was confused because there's a town called Prince George in B.C., so many princes.....take care and travel on !!
We're glad we could teach you some things! Ah yes Prince George, we visited there last year on our journey to Alaska! So many Princes! Thank you and thanks for watching!
I was there ( Basin Head beach ) like in 2010 ( long time ago eh ) and ( It's true ) i personally heard the sand making a squeaky duck like sound as i stepped on it. Anyway like your vids and enjoy your adventures. More power guys !
You say early Aug? Probably the same week we were in NB and had terrible weather! We got there the Sunday of the long weekend. I think we went to the west end bottle village, not the one in your video.
Most Canadians probably haven't read Anne of Green Gables, but its probably pretty hard to any Canadians haven't at least watched 1 episode of the popular TV series of the same name. The TV series was also filmed there, another reason people go there, to see it.

I was in Newfoundland in early August of 2023. My favorite is Twillingate Island.
WOW! The in-depth history/geography you give is unmatched! Your enthusiasm and humour for every place you visit makes your vlog Number 1! Thanks
Thank you so much, that means a lot to us!

I watch a lot of travelers and your videos are the best! You've raised the bar!!!!! Love the maps, history, facts, food and sites!
We appreciate the kind words! ❤️ We work extremely hard on these videos both before, during, and after filming them!
Thank you for visiting our gentle island. Our sands have a angelic quality sound, if you shift the sand just right. Glad you enjoyed yourselves.
I do like that you guys aren't deterred by rain and still manage to see awesome scenery!

We've had an unusually wet summer in Atlantic Canada, not typical at all.
I got so excited when you mentioned Green Gables and then you blew it off. Ugh. Your definitely must watch the mini series with Megan Follows it is a Canadian classic that is loved by all. You will not be disappointed. Great video
We have never read the books or seen the show so we wouldn't have known or appreciated what we were looking at.
You should have listened to the audio book in your van. The scenery in PEI matches what is described by Maud who grew up there.
Yeah that’s the reason why we want to visit PEI someday!

Yes it is a wonderful and peaceful place! Thanks for watching!
PEI was known for 2 natural landmarks- Teacup and the sandstone arch. Two storms toppled them.
Yeah that is a bummer! At least there is still so much still there to see!
Amazing adventure!! Thanks for taking us along! Y'all are the best on YT!!
Thank you! ❤

At the singing sands beach the sand squeaks when you shuffle your feet it really does work on dry sand i grew up in PEI i promise ita not a lie 😊

You two are amazing. Your videos are the best I've ever seen. I would love to travel all the province s
Thank you so much!
Wait...at 09:50, did you blow on your ice cream to cool it down??? 🤣😂🤣 Awesome video, as always!
haha it does kinda look like that, but no that was my "ooo look at that" admiration face lol
Love your work and travels thank you
I’ve never been to PEI, but I’m from Michigan and the sand on Lake Michigan “sings”. It is more of a squeak though (think the sound of an arm pit fart and you’ll be in the neighborhood)
What a beautiful place!🤩
I just love watching y'all's videos! always SO informative & FUN! PEI is a place I've always wanted to visit & now I know more about some of the great places to see when I go! Thank y'all so much! 😍
We're glad we could share our adventure! Thank you for watching!
This video was fire 🔥 12:56
Beautiful island! Amazing photography.
We didn’t do the New Brunswick potato things because we knew we would be in PEI
Yes so many places! Lovely country!
As always great vid guys stay safe
The island looks amazingly fun! I love that beach 😊 The sand color is similar to that on the beaches of the Apostle Islands. I can attest after eating chhese curds everyday for 3 weeks, everything is better with cheese curds! Fun episode! I won't mention the other thing 😅
Yes we really had lots of Apostle Islands comparisons in our head. There and at Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick. Yes...cheese curds on everything! 😂
Thanks for going easy on us! 😂
You were like Mary Poppins and her umbrella 🌂 on that beach😂
Good morning from Tucson!!!!! Such a beautiful trip.
We just try Datcha was amazing so much flavor love it
When I visited PEI, we did this cool kayak trip to PEI preserve and stopped for lunch and then paddles back. Highly recommend visiting PEI Preserves that way.
Ooo yeah that does sound fun!
Next time!
You should have visited Green Gables anyway and bought a few of the books. They are great! PEI is a super place to visit! Love your videos!
PEI was really nice and quaint! Thanks and thanks for watching
That’s awesome! I think it was at the Souris Beach Gateway Park! There was lots of it!
Foodgasm at the ice cream shop!
Wahoo!
Your shot on Greenwich sand dunes was very similar to ones from Anne of Avonlea. Big Anne Movie Fan here! Great video! 💗
We enjoyed today's video, but my wife is the Anne of Green gables fan you were talking about. She wanted more and of Green gables content. Lol. Great content.
Thanks for watching!
One of the better travel vlogs I've seen on PEI, and no, not disappointed you skipped Green Gables.
You may be the only one not mad at us! 😜
Did you get to where they grow and export PEI mussels? They are one of the great food products of the island!
Glad you two are having a great time in my awsome country thanks for the awsome vidio as well 👍👍🚐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🐕👍👍
We're having an amazing time! Thank you!
Welp. You just added another place I want to visit on my list.
That's our goal! 😊 Thanks, Terry!
"Traveling Robert" showed your sign in the "Sign post Forest,"in the Yukon
You guys should come to London, England! 🏴🇬🇧
We visited a few years ago before RUclips and LOVED it! We can't wait to come back.
Bottle village looks like the inside of a Lite Brite!!
That’s so true! Good comparison
Most Canadians probably haven't read Anne of Green Gables, but its probably pretty hard to any Canadians haven't at least watched 1 episode of the popular TV series of the same name. The TV series was also filmed there, another reason people go there, to see it.
