Grocery stores are a favorite stop for us too, no matter where we travel. It's a really underrated way to get a feel for the day to day life of a new place.
I'm a born and raised Newfoundlander. My Father was actually born and raised in Ireland, so you've obviously seen the Irish influence. Our province is visually stunning and there's nothing like it. Thanks for showcasing and I'm very happy you enjoyed it!
I went to NFLD 2 months ago and absolutely fell in love with the province. Coming from Ontario; NFLD is whole lot different and such a beautiful province. Hoping to visit again...
Awesome video!!! Every time I see a video on youtube about our beautiful province it makes me so proud!! Thanks for your wicket views on NL.. hit me up nxt time for some sweet spots on the avalon 👍
I am Canadian and have visited most of the provinces. I visited Nfld for the first time this summer. We loved it! So beautiful. If you visit be ready for lots of rain and fog. In spite of this, we still very much enjoyed our trip.
Thanks for showing us the beautiful Newfoundland! Stunning landscape and epic places to camp. Looking forward to your big adventure. Excellent video guys. ~Cara 😊
LOVE LOVE LOVE Newfoundland. Have been 3 times, we can drive from Boston area. Happy to see this, you are showing me some hikes that would be new to us. Excellent video!
Loved this video so much! Western Newfoundland is one of my favorite trips in the world! Can go over and over and never tire of it. You picked a great grocery store too - Coleman's is my go to on my trips there :)
I was born in Newfoundland & have not been able to get back as often as I'd like. Love Jiggs dinner. Best served with some cooking liquid from the pot and yellow mustard for the meat & potato. Also loving the videos of the beautiful scenery!
I am so glad you both enjoyed western Newfoundland! This made me smile so much being from western Newfoundland. Fun fact, on the Port au Port peninsula, my great grandfather from France escaped his navy vessel to start his life here, and that’s how my family and so many other western Newfoundlandlers are here
Thanks for sharing! I took notes. I remember seeing a show on PBS about Newfoundland & Labrador. The scenery on it, as well as your video, make this seem like an epic, must visit place.
I’m from St.John’s, NL, currently living in Halifax, NS. I’m so happy to see you are enjoying Newfoundland. If you go to St John’s make sure you stop in for amazing food at The Nook and Cannery!
Newfoundland looks amazing. It wasn't ever really on my list of places to visit, but now I definitely want to go there some day. (Also I want to say, I really appreciate that you indicate in your pinned comment when you filmed, most travel youtubers I watch don't, and it's such a simple thing, but incredibly useful information.)
Wow, what gorgeous visits you made on this video ... its definitely on my bucket list. As a BC'er, traveling across Canada, Newfoundland is a province that I would be more excited to see and experience. I have quite a few Newfounderlander friends who speak the accents you attempt to share with us. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us!
Newfoundland is unlike any province or territory we've been to for many reasons! We think it's a must visit for anyone, but especially Canadians! But we do understand it's not super easy to get to Thank you!
I'm from Nfld but have lived away since 1997. I've had the occasional vacation back there and in fact just got back yesterday from a 4-day visit and I'm already heartsick and wanting to return once again. I love it there. The scenery is incredible, the people are amazing and the culture is wonderful.
LOVED this video! Got me to subscribe. I've been to Newfoundland more than most and you make me feel like I've not seen so many things! Laughed at the Jig's dinner. You needed a bigger piece of salt beef 'cause it's sooo good! Love your use of the drone. Your pictures and narrative are excellent. Also appreciate you using the local metric for elevation and temperature etc.
I'm from Labrador and with a jig's dinner we generally have some kind of roast with it so you make a gravy from the roast to go with the boiled food. Also some places will have a raisin pudding with it too. Basiclly a bread pudding with raisins in it done in a cheese cloth and boiled with the rest.
Thanks for sharing your stunning travel videos.....awesome...re: the Jigs Dinner...here on PEI we would ask for some of the juice from the dinner to pour over the dinner and most likely have some mustard to go with the corned beef.
Glad I found you. I'm a 72-year old armchair traveler and I love your joie de vivre. My mother was a Newfoundlander, I grew up on boiled dinner. Excellent photography and you're both relaxed on camera.
I’ve followed you guys for a while and your vlogs have helped me plan a few road trips down in the US. To see you get to experience my home in Newfoundland and enjoy it is such a treat.
Wow the scenery gives me chills it's so beautiful! Oh My! I can certainly see why y all love it! Drone shots are epic!!! Kona's dream house of sticks, lol! Sunsets, the blue water a big wow! I love everything on that Jiggs dinner plate! Yes gravy would help for sure! I think dessert looks the best! Looks like you'll have leftovers for awhile!
WOW! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing, stunningly, beautiful NewFoundLand! Makes me want to go there!!! I’m 75 but it’s now on my “bucket list”!❤️
I just watched your last 3 videos - catching up. We were gone for over 2 weeks to Colorado; thought of you guys when we stayed near Leadville and your Mt. Elbert adventure! We did a Fourteener! Yea, we drove up Pikes Peak! lol. I enjoyed these videos; it’s amazingly beautiful. I enjoyed seeing and hearing about the food, too. The ferry ride was very interesting! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! You guys do a fantastic job of filming and explaining!
port au port is close to me im from stephenville. The whole place out there is awesome. The bread is totally free too. I actually painted the shed they make it in as a job in 2017
Thank you for showing Port aux Port. One of the few places on the Rock we have not visited during our 10 summers living in the "cabin" we built looking out at the North Atlantic. Soooooo many free camping spots and most of the locals are happy you are there and love to stop for a long chat. This was the summer of Class B camper vans.❤😊
Most locals call jigs Sunday dinner for obvious reasons we usually have with the addition of roast of pork or beef or chicken or turkey with the gravy of course. Generally turkey is for thanksgiving/Christmas/ and Easter Sunday. Peas pudding is kinda dry for me but split pea soup is the Devil’s Brew.
Your videos are always beautiful, informative, fun and spectacular photography and editing! I have told you this before, but as in Kathryns repeats, did I mention now much I love your channel!? Also, we loved Newfoundland too!
Great job, guys! Excellent photography and editing! My wife and I lived in New England, and traveled for many year in a Sprinter I converted. Never thought of going there, looks amazing, at least in the summer.
It's been amazing here! It's now one of our favorite places in North America! We're excited to the rest of our videos from our time here Thanks and thanks for watching!
Glad that you were able to see Newfoundland and that you started filming professionally in places most people ignore on the west coast of the island in favour of the east coast of the island. 44 years of me living in this province, I was from the west coast near Port au Port (Stephenville/Kippens) until last year and all my life I wanted to see a seal and haven't 😂. You needed a real Jigg's dinner where it is salty and you can still taste each item even if it is boiled to mush 🤣. Did you make it to central and the Avalon too? Eash place is so distinct. The west coast is so different than the east coast of the island.
And yes, Port au Port is considered a hidden gem. Has been for years. And hopefully we will continue to see the tourism grow in our area. I enjoy watching your videos.
Oh my gosh, I want to go here so badly now! This reminds me SO much of Iceland! If you two love it here you MUST go to Iceland, I think you would fall in love! In the summer the landscapes are sooo green and beautiful.
Jiggs dinner in Newfoundland often has gravy, and Turkey added to it these days. That isn't considered your traditional Jiggs dinner, but is more flavourful to add the gravy and turkey. Great video!
I saw the thumbnail and imediately knew where you were. Thats where I grew up in Lark Hatbour :) BTW, the Jiggs dinner usually does have gravy on it, maybe the Big Stop just forgot to give it to ya. Glad you enjoyed the visit and was noce seeing the videos of back home :)
That's awesome! Congrats! We have a huge guide to Newfoundland on our website as well. Hope it helps! adventuresofaplusk.com/things-to-do-in-newfoundland/
You guys really know how to film those beautiful vistas! It looks stunning and fantastic!Definitely getting some Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones vibes from that scenery! Would not have been surprised at all if a dragon had come flying up from beyond those cliffs.😂 Being a transplanted Newfie living abroad it really makes me miss home and long to return.Thankyou for the amazing and well done video.Great job!❤
Thank you for doing such a fantastic job of show casing the Maritime provinces. That's the one area of Canada I've never been to, and always hoped to see. This beautiful country is so massive and diverse. NFLD is unique, and known for amazing hospitality and gorgeous scenery, which is evident in your video. 🇨🇦💗
Thanks for highlighting our part of Newfoundland. We live in Corner Brook and have a cabin in Littleport where you started your hike to Cedar Cove. We often walk out there and on the trails around Bottle Cove. You did a great job with your Long Range Traverse video.
The Rock is an amazing place. I had the opportunity to visit often during the 80s while on business. Loved the people. Had lots of laughs. But it was a challenge re the accent - particularly in the centre and west coast. My favourite word to use was "pardon". ❤❤
haha yes we overhear people talking in Tim Horton's and sometimes have trouble understanding. It truly has been amazing here! We're very excited to share our adventures!
All you were missing with the jiggs dinner was butter. Lots of salted butter. It's one of my favourite meals. THANK YOU for going to the Port au Port peninsula. I loves it there. I really hope you got up to L'anse Aux Meadows before going to St. John's. Did you go to Fogo? Dont forgo Fogo. ;)
Mmmm yes salted butter would've been fantastic! The Port au Port peninsula was amazing! We didn't make it up to St. Anthony's on this trip unfortunately, but we did get out to Fogo and lots lots more! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Awesome coverage guys I am from Central Newfoundland and have a motorhome and do lots of travelling around our island, unfortunately my hiking days to some of those higher mountains is finished, but you have taken me back to so many places I visited when we were younger, I’m amazed at how many Boondocking spots you have found on your travels.
I can't get over how *crisp* your shots are (!!!!!). Absolutely fantastic job on this one!!! You're totally right- that area really does look like the Chugach mountains. It's wild that we were on opposite sides of the continent, looking at such similar views hahaha. 😂 Also, hiking with binoculars?! You guys are true adventurers hahaha
I found you guys when you were coming through Pismo Beach, California (where I live) on your way North to Alaska. I followed you all the way to Alaska, and then all around Alaska - and then down through different states until you finally got home to your parent's house. After that I lost you. I just found you again - Yay! What a beautiful place Newfoundland is!! Your photography is National Geographic quality! Thank you for "taking us along" on this very beautiful trip!! ❤
Does have that Alaska vibe. I think of all the places you guys have been Alaska and British Columbia had the most raw natural beauty. My favorite video may have been the food tour in Hanoi
I love how much you love Nfld. Wait till you see Gros Morne. I have only been to the West coast but want to do that area. The Spring and early Summer is great on the East coast because there are Iceburgs everywhere. Btw you were lucky to hit good weather so far.
Newfoundland has been spectacular! We've had a wonderful time here and Gros Morne was epic! Can't wait to share those videos! We did have pretty good weather, but also had lots of rain to maneuver around! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Great video!! Dare I ask ... So how do you like NFLD so far??? We're in southern Ontario and it is quite common for people in our area to drive over to the States for a weekend to shop. Grocery stores are at the top of the list to get items that we don't have in Canada and to eat in restaurants that we no longer have here. My dad (from Nova Scotia) would make bolied dinner. He would use corned beef for the protein and would serve it in the broth. It was really good.
We enjoyed the Jigg's dinner! We do miss our grocery stores back home when we're in Canada, but we like seeing the different options and broadening our culinary horizons
Oh no!!! I guess I know what I am doing again today. More A+K. Wonder how many I can watch? Love getting introduced to another awesome channel. And Alex says "Oh Mylanta too?" It really is serendipity. Love and light from NB♥ (I usually say the East Coast of Canada, but you're HERE)ps. Not sure how you really felt about Nfld. You were a little vague. LOL
Awesome! Random question…we see all these signs in front yards across the province that say “Nanny and Poppys House”….do they have one? We love those signs!
They did not! However, they did have a well known, giant rock in their front yard that was painted to look like a patch quilt :) Second house on the left when you first turned onto Front Rd.
I noticed you mentioned missing the gravy. Great comment. JIGs dinner is usually served with bottled moose meat and gravy or bottled caribou meat and gravy. The gravy is made from the jigs dinner pot water to give the best flavor. Known as "Pot Liquor", lol. Fry one onion medium for 2 to 3 minutes, then add bottled meat, add the Pot Liquor and heat for 1 minute, and the gravy flour mixture quickly. Heat for a minute or two and pour the meaty gravy over the Jigs dinner. Absolutely delicious. Serve a traditional boiled english pudding for desert.
So happy you enjoyed your trip in Newfoundland, and that jiggs dinner should be eaten only as a last resort, probably the lest tasteful meal in all of Canada
Awesome Video Guys. I’m a newfie in corner Brook.. beautiful province for those who love the outdoors. Mind you. Late fall January and February can be stormy months..

There is so much to love about our island, thank you for showcasing some of that!
Thank you so much for exposing us to these majestic locations that many of us wouldn't know about. Truely beautiful. 🌿

We enjoyed watching your video of your trip to NFLD , sure would love to visit there . We have friends from NFLD , they are very friendly people .
Awesome just like always! Thank you.

We're glad you're back! Thank you and thanks for watching!
Does have that Alaska vibe. I think of all the places you guys have been Alaska and British Columbia had the most raw natural beauty. My favorite video may have been the food tour in Hanoi
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Hello Adventurers, I've been following you on this adventure and it's Absolutely AWESOME!!! I can't wait for the next series.
Wahoo! Can't wait to share! Thank you, Al! We can always count on you!
The Starlight Trail is stunning!! Are there any bad campsites in Newfoundland? Those cliff views are amazing!
If there are we haven’t found one!
Great vis guys loved it you inspire us to travel move
LOL
Aaaah!!! Awesome job! I can see my nanny’s home in Port au Port! ❤❤❤
We always smiled when we saw those signs! 😂 Could be a fun Christmas gift…just saying! 😂
Kathryn said she vaguely remembers seeing that rock!
My home province enjoy
Great video. Loved it 😊
So happy you enjoyed your trip in Newfoundland, and that jiggs dinner should be eaten only as a last resort, probably the lest tasteful meal in all of Canada
Awesome Video Guys. I’m a newfie in corner Brook.. beautiful province for those who love the outdoors. Mind you. Late fall January and February can be stormy months..
We had a blast in Newfoundland! Yes endless hiking and nature to behold!
