      I'm trying to change mine on a 1988 Silverado. It's not moving, and the wrench starting to slip with a cheater pipe. Will probably have to take it to a mechanic. If it was changed at 100,000 miles, like recommended, instead of the 400,000 I have now, it would be much easier.

    It ruins engines u liar, mine starting misfiring and stalling. Everyone kept saying it’s the transmission, then it started revving bad after a couple months. Now I can’t go past 25 miles on drive with out the acceleration stopping and slowing down. Went to autozone, found out it was O2 heater circuit bank 1 sensor 2. I fixed that little part and gave car oil change and now it’s working like no problem

      the computer will sometimes get confused on how much air it should mix with the fuel with a bad o2 sensor, but if you're moving that fast, unlikely, check your suspension and make sure everything is tightened to spec

    • @Shaw9.81
      @Shaw9.81 10 месяцев назад +5

      no , but if your catyllic converter went out, that will cause a louder muffler, also if your exhaust has bad gaskets, that will cause it, or if the muffler is really old and rusty, that will also cause a louder muffler

  • @yamaha94O
    @yamaha94O Месяц назад

    Roll of thumb, anything that makes your check engine light come on should be fixed ASAP, but you can still drive to work. The computer will make the car run rich until the problem is fixed and can eventually cause your cat to clog, so don't dally. Now if your check engine light is FLASHING, DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR. That means it's having an active missfire in

      yes you do need them its how the engine controls fuel to air mixture, a catalytic converter just keeps the air we breath clean (can be deleted if you have no emissions testing and hate clean air ) and the muffler is there to make the car quieter ( can also be deleted to make vroom vroom noise )
