I think that blood elves warlocks are blood mages, the can drain demon's powers by sacrificing them to impower their magic( fire magic for example). This ideally fits for destruction warlocks, i think, plus there is a talent aalowing you to empower you by sacrificing your demon. Sorry for my bad english, hope you understood my thought.
I've been playing Demonology Warlocks for 4 years now. He was Blood Elf, and I tried to make myself different from the other dark, power hungry Warlocks. I was always happy, and friendly to other people, and I also loved killing critters like rabbits, cats, etc. Something like Richard, from looking-for group comic book. Good guide man, keep it up. :)
One thing I really like about the Warlocks is the idea of demonic corruption, that using this kind of magic literally changes you. It turned the orcs from brown to green to red, the eredar from blue to red and elves into satyrs. I've always wondered if Warlock you use so much fel magic that would literally end up like Illidan, half mortal and half demonic. For me I've been a little curious what would happen to my blood elf Warlock if he used too much of the stuff.
I think to a linited degree we can see that with demonology holding a large amount of demonic fury manufests into horns and purpleglowing hands but i think it could be more prominent lore wise
Gnomes are the best warlocks. You can be this crazy tiny mad scientist who controls creatures multiple times larger than himself. No one will call you a garden gnome anymore... because they are burnt to ash.
I do not believe that warlocks are inherently weak, if you look at spells and buffs they use it inflicts pain on them self in order to get power,, if the warlock uses this enough wouldn't it make them like really tough and have an extreme amount of pain tolerance?because if you use magic that sacrifices your own life and damages or hurts yourself over and over again , I'm pretty sure you'd get more and more used to it over time. Another thing that could support this i that in the game when you use self damaging spells on yourself it doesn't hinder your spell casting or movement speed , as well as our massive HP pools. What do you think?
I believe both warlocks and demon hunters have a built immunity to the withering effect of it,or else demon hunters would not be nearly as strong or fast, and warlocks would barely be able to move around.
A little late to the party, but I'd like to contribute: As a Blood Elf I aspired to become an Arcane Mage and eventually a Magister, but ever since my family fell victim to their addiction and was put to the sword while I was not present, it made the Magisterium(?) disregard me as being unworthy or too dangerous to follow the way of the Arcane. In a fit of anger I stole a tome about fel-based shadow magic on my way out and studied in private. I will prove them wrong, about me and about their self-righteous ways. (But I still care about my people and homeland!^^)
My secret to role-playing a warlock is to overtake and kill your allies, then using the upper force overtake the higher system using chaos and destruction of The Legion !
The big problem with games allowing the player to dabble into big, dangerous, forbidden magical arts is that inevitably there is very strong Gameplay-and-Story Segregation. In-lore, using those spells and rituals is extremely dangerous, or has a grievous price you must pay eventually, and it's why most of its practitioners rarely last long... That never comes into play for the player character. You never have a demon turn against you, you never go insane, you never get arrested or killed for using this magic, so it makes the whole experience kinda hollow... You walk around the cathedrals with your succubus twerking, saying "Fear my dark powah! I am death!", and then some priest will just glance at you and go "Of course you are, Jimmy, now go home...".
+ThatOneBoss well that's a sacrifice that has to be made. if all classes functioned as they do lore-wise the game would be completely unbalanced, some classes would be godlike while others are worthless and such, and that would not make for a fun gameplay experience. by the end of the day we need to accept that this is a video game, not a book, movie or comic. things need to be consistent.
+RandHaf I actually disagreed about the Goblins and Gnomes part. Since this is mainly theory, because there are no numbers to back us up, I will share my thoughts. I would say that the goblin and gnomes would be just about equal as far as the amount of warlocks. I play horde and I can tell you after playing as and with goblin, they are big cowards and rarely ever risk their own skin! Gnomes are very rational and will risk their lives to achieve a goal, their rationality prevents them from dabbling too deep into the fel magic, simply because most would think of it as entering a losing battle for temporary power. So I would say while Goblin lack the morals and rationality as the Gnomes, they compensate with their cowardice.

TiBERiUS Medivh was possessed by Sargeras the most powerful demon/fallen titan in existence. Illidan absorbed the Skull of Gul'dan, a powerful warlock artifact and became a demon. How? Fel Magic. I see them as warlocks more than anything else.
The Ascendent Medivh being possessed wasn't him using fel magic and just using the Skull of Gul'dan does not make you a warlock, Kadghar used it to close the dark portal but he's still a mage.
The Ascendent medivh was a powerful mage that became corrupted from fel, so he was a mix of the two classes, lets say 70% 30%. Illidan was kind of a battlemage cuz he was a elven warrior who followed azshara and studied the well of eternity gaining arcane knowledge, later he was corrupted from fel energy and used his arcane corrupted skills mixed with his melee style. so warrior+priest=paladin, +mage=battlmage +warlock=demon hunter, the question is, is to be a paladin the same to be a priest priest?
This was great input. I mean most high mages from the lore know or have practiced dark magic. Hord and Alliance both know and let warlocks in there ranks. My favorite spec has been destroy so a fire wizard/blackmage. Yeah you should get dirty looks from people. However when the raid needs a some help they will be asking you. Remember the old saying from vanilla people make friends with a healer a tank and a warlock XD

Hi, I have a question that you might be able to answer, I know this video is 5 years old, but what the hell. Do demons themselves have personalities? Or have they been so corrupted that they become just a mindless tool? If the answer is yes, then does each demon have a specific personality or can it vary? From what I know, demons were once beings that were overtaken by the legion and corrupted into demonhood, so does their original personalty remain within them? I've made my lock as one of the "good" warlocks, i made his thing that he physically beats up demons to make them submit to him. Admittedly he's more of a comedic character.
So, I had this weird idea, because I've read some Gnome Engineers use Arcane magic to enhance their creations, so I thought... what if I use Fel Magic... the Legion has Fel Engs... So, I tried RPing a Gnome Warlock that happens to be a Fel Eng. :D

I have a question, can a Warlock infact show signs of physical corruption, like horns, fel fissures in the skin, green demon blood, etc? Without being truly mentally corrupted. Kinda in the way the orcs were corrupted, except without drinking such blood.

I know that some classes are harder to roleplay (paladins for example) but I have problems with druids (maybe I'm just a noob). P.S. I think the craziest part of druids is that Balance specialization uses arcane magic at most and about nature there are about 5 spells.
Didnt warlocks get their power from the burnig legion. The orcs became warlocks after their shamanic connection to the elementals was lost, so the Shamans became Warlocks

A human warlock is really hard to rp but here is a suggestion. You were a mage and fought against the horde when they came to azeroth, you were injured by a fel spell and they healed you in northshire, after that you noticed that your spells became corrupt and shit. This might suck ass but ill go with that xD
How about you actually losing your faith in the arcane abilities as they have been not sufficient against orc warlocks so you start learning their magic (fel) to be able to fighT them?
MacTavish Usually most human warlocks did become warlocks in that way. They were into magics and saw that fel magics were a lot more potent than the arcane and that they can make themselves a lot more powerful, being confident in themselves that they can fully control it and not lose their mind in the process. :)
When it says that orcs look down upon warlocks because of the corruption that is kinda countered by blizzard when it says they are highly respected upon the horse community...
I didn't really find the info anywhere, so I'll ask if it's OK. Warlocks control demons, and Demon Hunters basically are fighting demons within themselves (correct me if I'm wrong). So I was wondering, in lore logic is it possible for advanced warlocks to effect DHs in their demon forms somehow? Maybe even broke the bound with them?
I'm a former mage apprentice of the Kirin Tor who got kicked out for dabbling too much into fel spells. If anyone ever asks I just say I'm a fire mage, no one sees the difference from afar anyways
yes wow must introduce more serious form of role play for warlock,like how nightfallen treat outsiders,warlock must also avoid summoning pets and stay disguised all the time. At least they should make the play style for warlock more lore type.Warlocks are rogue casters who want ultimate power at all cast so the play style must be like an assassin caster,who like witches spend most of the time performing rituals in secret in order to gain soulshard(or something else) and when the time is right they throw a devastating killing blow upon there enemies. I was roleplaying a warlock in silvermoon and treated it like a pet because my character is sort on the nutty side. Can someone tell me whats wrong with this? People hated when I did it and said I was a horrible roleplayer for it. If someone could help me that would be awesome :)
The Demon is technically your slave, so even if you have a good relationship with him it may be hard to belive that someone who enslaves a creature by tearing it out if its plain into a strange foreign world to make it fight for him would treat this subject "like a pet". I mean if you play very good i guess it shouldn't be a big problem, but if your not that experienced in role playing you should maybe start with something easier to play in a convincing way. An insane warlock is probably the most difficult role to portray.
Actually, I think Vol'jin made it alot more open to be a warlock in Ogrimmar. I mean, considering Garrosh was hanging and burning Warlocks at the stake during the SoO, it would make sense for the trolls to empathize with the remaining warlocks that are pro-horde.
There is a difference, Vol'jin is shadow hunter, this makes him more close to shadow priests than warlocks. Shadow magic is opposite of light mmagic but it's not equvivalent of fel magic.
MacTavish That's not what I'm referring to at all. I'm speaking just generally, that Warlocks are not 'hunted' by modern society in the Horde. Not that it was mentioned in the video, but it's still worth noting that Warlocks are more welcome than ever before, in my opinion.
So many Warlocks on my server who roleplay with their demons out in Orgrimmar, tell them that it's Illegal and they'd probably get killed on sight but they ignore it. Also there is a person on my server who roleplays as a half-demon warlock openly, and refuses to act the consequences of such, the joys of roleplay am I right?

The first mortal race warlocks were Eredar - Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden in particular, corrupted and empowered by Sargeras himself, which dates back tens of thousands years ago in Warcraft Universe. The case you're talking about is Kil'Jaeden (not Sargeras) conatcting Gul'dan (not Ner'Zhul), and teaching him the ways of a warlock.

I have an undead warlock that use to be an archmage of the Kirin'tor but when he died in the fall of stratholme a very very distant ancestor (he was a Vyr'kul warlock) of him possessed his body. Would that work at all in the lore? because I really like my rp's to fit in with the lore perfectly.
Im not entirely sure. Warlocks are pretty much a step-up from mages or in orc's case, shamans and one has to be mage or shaman first before becoming a warlock (now sure about priests). That being said the first human mages have been taught magic from the high elves so this is way after they have split from the Vrykul. However Vrykul do have their runecaster; the question is: are runes of arcane origin or elemental one? Also why would Vrykul become warlock? They never encountered the burning legion and warlocks have they? I'd say, go with your Kirin Tor archmage simply becoming warlock since it much more plausible, especially considering being a warlock is harderthan being a mage so it' a perfect fit
I'm pretty sure that the guy who was archmage of the Kirin tor before they fell was an established lore character to begin with, he was the guy who told KT he had to stop playing necromancer before the LK got into his head. Might wanna rework that one.

Wow. Never thought of that. I do believe Sha are demons, but are not Legion related. They might be related to Old Gods, because of the Qiraji they interact with. I don't think Warlocks are powerful enough to even summon an eredar, let alone a Sha.
+Sushi Ninjan basically. a worgen warlock would just be a gilnean who dabbled in the dark arts either before or after they were turned. a non feral worgen is basically a human trapped in a different body, they might have more aggressive urges they need to supress to some extent but they are still mentally who they were before they turned.

That's why I think demonology is a great spec for goblins. The demons do the heavy lifting and listen to the boss.

Hi, I have a question that you might be able to answer, I know this video is 5 years old, but what the hell.
Do demons themselves have personalities? Or have they been so corrupted that they become just a mindless tool?
If the answer is yes, then does each demon have a specific personality or can it vary? From what I know, demons were once beings that were overtaken by the legion and corrupted into demonhood, so does their original personalty remain within them?

So, I had this weird idea, because I've read some Gnome Engineers use Arcane magic to enhance their creations, so I thought... what if I use Fel Magic... the Legion has Fel Engs... So, I tried RPing a Gnome Warlock that happens to be a Fel Eng. :D
That would be really cool and unique. I am almost about to create a gnome warlock with engineering and talk about my creations while creating a portal, then walk away laughing. Lol.
I don't see why draenei can't be warlocks , like they could of wanted the power (like archimonde or Kil'jaden) but after seeing the atrocities they were committing the left the legion and joined Velen , that's just my idea

Without being truly mentally corrupted. Kinda in the way the orcs were corrupted, except without drinking such blood.
It is not felmagic, but shadowmagic, that is on the basis of warlock spells.

Can you make "How to roleplay a druid" in the future?
I know that some classes are harder to roleplay (paladins for example) but I have problems with druids (maybe I'm just a noob).
P.S. I think the craziest part of druids is that Balance specialization uses arcane magic at most and about nature there are about 5 spells.

A human warlock is really hard to rp but here is a suggestion. You were a mage and fought against the horde when they came to azeroth, you were injured by a fel spell and they healed you in northshire, after that you noticed that your spells became corrupt and shit. This might suck ass but ill go with that xD
How about you actually losing your faith in the arcane abilities as they have been not sufficient against orc warlocks so you start learning their magic (fel) to be able to fighT them?
MacTavish Usually most human warlocks did become warlocks in that way. They were into magics and saw that fel magics were a lot more potent than the arcane and that they can make themselves a lot more powerful, being confident in themselves that they can fully control it and not lose their mind in the process. :)
When it says that orcs look down upon warlocks because of the corruption that is kinda countered by blizzard when it says they are highly respected upon the horse community...

I didn't really find the info anywhere, so I'll ask if it's OK. Warlocks control demons, and Demon Hunters basically are fighting demons within themselves (correct me if I'm wrong). So I was wondering, in lore logic is it possible for advanced warlocks to effect DHs in their demon forms somehow? Maybe even broke the bound with them?

yes wow must introduce more serious form of role play for warlock,like how nightfallen treat outsiders,warlock must also avoid summoning pets and stay disguised all the time. At least they should make the play style for warlock more lore type.Warlocks are rogue casters who want ultimate power at all cast so the play style must be like an assassin caster,who like witches spend most of the time performing rituals in secret in order to gain soulshard(or something else) and when the time is right they throw a devastating killing blow upon there enemies. Does'nt it sound interesting??

Why do the horde and alliance have warlocks at all? You'd think they'd both hate warlocks and would try to ban all practices of fel magic.
I was roleplaying a warlock in silvermoon and treated it like a pet because my character is sort on the nutty side. Can someone tell me whats wrong with this? People hated when I did it and said I was a horrible roleplayer for it. If someone could help me that would be awesome :)
The Demon is technically your slave, so even if you have a good relationship with him it may be hard to belive that someone who enslaves a creature by tearing it out if its plain into a strange foreign world to make it fight for him would treat this subject "like a pet". I mean if you play very good i guess it shouldn't be a big problem, but if your not that experienced in role playing you should maybe start with something easier to play in a convincing way. An insane warlock is probably the most difficult role to portray.
I think there was a warlock in the books that treated their felhunter like a pet.

Actually, I think Vol'jin made it alot more open to be a warlock in Ogrimmar. I mean, considering Garrosh was hanging and burning Warlocks at the stake during the SoO, it would make sense for the trolls to empathize with the remaining warlocks that are pro-horde.
That is true but still it's not like you can just stand in the middle of Orgrimmar with a fel guard out.
There is a difference, Vol'jin is shadow hunter, this makes him more close to shadow priests than warlocks. Shadow magic is opposite of light mmagic but it's not equvivalent of fel magic.
MacTavish That's not what I'm referring to at all. I'm speaking just generally, that Warlocks are not 'hunted' by modern society in the Horde. Not that it was mentioned in the video, but it's still worth noting that Warlocks are more welcome than ever before, in my opinion.

So many Warlocks on my server who roleplay with their demons out in Orgrimmar, tell them that it's Illegal and they'd probably get killed on sight but they ignore it. Also there is a person on my server who roleplays as a half-demon warlock openly, and refuses to act the consequences of such, the joys of roleplay am I right?

Steve Jones Please do your homework before posting. The first mortal race warlocks were Eredar - Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden in particular, corrupted and empowered by Sargeras himself, which dates back tens of thousands years ago in Warcraft Universe.
The case you're talking about is Kil'Jaeden (not Sargeras) conatcting Gul'dan (not Ner'Zhul), and teaching him the ways of a warlock.

I have an undead warlock that use to be an archmage of the Kirin'tor but when he died in the fall of stratholme a very very distant ancestor (he was a Vyr'kul warlock) of him possessed his body. Would that work at all in the lore? because I really like my rp's to fit in with the lore perfectly.
Not really, since I don't really see a way for Vry'kul to become warlocks. The entire warlock thing really came from the Burning Legion.
Im not entirely sure. Warlocks are pretty much a step-up from mages or in orc's case, shamans and one has to be mage or shaman first before becoming a warlock (now sure about priests). That being said the first human mages have been taught magic from the high elves so this is way after they have split from the Vrykul. However Vrykul do have their runecaster; the question is: are runes of arcane origin or elemental one? Also why would Vrykul become warlock? They never encountered the burning legion and warlocks have they? I'd say, go with your Kirin Tor archmage simply becoming warlock since it much more plausible, especially considering being a warlock is harderthan being a mage so it' a perfect fit

I'm pretty sure that the guy who was archmage of the Kirin tor before they fell was an established lore character to begin with, he was the guy who told KT he had to stop playing necromancer before the LK got into his head. Might wanna rework that one.
I am a forsaken Warlock.. I used to be a mage when i was alive. But once my mind got free of arthas his control i saw the cruelty my human family wished me. I wanted revenge. For this i need power.. I am dead anyway. I have no life force. My soul is trapped in my lifeless body. I know no risk in this. I used my will power to annihilate arthas his scourge witj fire and brimstone. And learned dark arts to summon my own slave army. Wicked you say? I am forsaken. Puked out for figjting my whole life defending the light with my arcane arts. It left me to die. In the end darkness wins. So why not fight Darkness with Darkness? And fire with fire?

Wow. Never thought of that. I do believe Sha are demons, but are not Legion related. They might be related to Old Gods, because of the Qiraji they interact with. I don't think Warlocks are powerful enough to even summon an eredar, let alone a Sha.

+Sushi Ninjan basically. a worgen warlock would just be a gilnean who dabbled in the dark arts either before or after they were turned. a non feral worgen is basically a human trapped in a different body, they might have more aggressive urges they need to supress to some extent but they are still mentally who they were before they turned.
