Yes, I could have made this part in 3 steps - sketch - extrude - shell. But like I said in the video, the point was to demonstrate a technique, not to show you the fastest way to design this model.
You're absolutely right. The joy of being able to imagine something and hold it in your hand minutes later never gets old. We live in amazing times. I do have a Fusion360 question for you. Sometimes when I try to apply appearance to a body/component, nothing happens. It keeps the original color. I tried unassign and remove the other appearance, but it does not work (it stays) either. Have you ever seen that?
Great video, you communicate the steps very clearly. Fusion 360 question: How would you have created a neat fit for a more 3d surface, in this case the camera face (eg If the top of the camera instead of a flat plane featured shapes and contours such as lens convex and sitting proud of the body etc) Would you have used the same approach?
Great for learning the tools, but not very efficient with so many steps. That could be accomplished in the sketch and two extrusions. (not counting camera body, which is a great idea)
Yes, it would have but I wanted to show the approach of designing the actual part and then using the part to cut away the covering. This is a simple example but the technique will come in handy with a more complex part. Especially when you need a perfect fit.
Maybe... if you look at it with the end goal of simply designing this particular part. However, my purpose here was to teach a technique which will be very useful in the long run.
@@DesktopMakes I realize that but maybe you should mention that that could have been done in less than 1 minute with 5 moves. great content though. I'm still a noob and learn from you.
Love you showing your design process in Fusion360...BUT....enough with most of the video peddling your pricey academy courses! I realize you want to monetize your hard work but it just turns the viewer off when EVERY one of your videos lately is a long-drawn-out commercial promoting you paid subscription. This video, along with another that I just watched, is mostly an advertisement and not of real substance and staying on topic. Save it for the end of your videos or people are going to get turned off on them like I am starting to be...and will look elsewhere for similar content.

Another very good tutorial. This is why I signed up for your courses on udemy. Thank you.
Thanks John! Hope you are enjoying the course!

Hi Hari. Yes, This does happen to me now and then. Simply zoom in to your design and try assigning the material again. This always solves it for me.
Great video Vlad. Thats exactly the sort of thing that gets me excited too.
Thank you. Your description of each action is very helpful.
Thanks Cannon. Glad you found it helpful.
I always learn something, thanks again!
Nice. Simple, but I learned a LOT! Thank you!
Great video. Nice calling out the hot keys. Easy to follow. Mahalo for sharing! : )

Wouldn't it have been easier to just initially extrude the camera blank to the depth that you wanted the cover, then shell it?

how do you make hollow cone ?

Thank you very much for your reply 👍👍
$0.17? you pay to much for filament. great video but that was really over complicated.

People do price calculation wrong for 3d printing.. The real cost of a 3d print are: design + power + material
@@benedikt4160 he said for the plastic not the print.
@@normcaissie5598 oh ok I missed that, but have the feeling that most people just calculate the material.
