  • In today's video, we are going to read and decode a METAR and a TAF.
    The Acronym METAR stands for Meteorological Aerodrome Report, this met report is used to get information regarding the actual weather at the selected Airport.
    The METAR is issued at intervals of 30 or 60 minutes depending on the airport traffic.
    It is important to understand that the structure of the METAR doesn't change, so, once you understand how to read one of these met reports you will be able to read them all.
    However, what changes, depending on the weather, are the codes within the METAR.
    If you find a code that you don't know you can leave a comment below and I will help you out.
    Depending on where you are there might be some differences within the met report.
    The TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast) is a Meteo report that forecasts the weather of a specific Airport, this weather forecast can be valid from a period of 6h up to 30h.
    The information that you can find by reading a TAF is similar to the METAR ones, however, since the TAF is a forecast you will have the different weather conditions within a specified time window.
    So the main difference between a METAR and a TAF is that the METAR is an observation only while the TAF is a forecast!

    Captain what's the difference between METAR & D-ATIS & NOTEMS ?

    • @PILOTCLIMB
      @PILOTCLIMB  2 года назад +1

      Hey, thanks for watching! The Metar is a weather report written on the flight brief that we use before going flying, the Atis is used to get the weather while flying and the Notams are operational information that might affect your flight.

    Question isn't related to the video but it'll be great if you could help,
    What is a holding point?
    Is it the waypoint from where the holding pattern starts ?
