אלקס היקר בשפה הערבית, שפה של בני דודים שלנו, יש המילה عجم (עג'ם) שהיא מופיעה גם בקוראן. יש לה אותה משמעות של המילה "גוי" אצלנו. גם בשפה היוונית העתיקה הייתה המילה "בארבארוס" עם אותה משמעות של "גוי" אצלנו. חבל לרק לנו אסור להדגיש מעמדינו המיוחד ולגויים (כן, דווקא אני משתמש במילה הזו) כביכול זה סבבה.
שיחה מרתקת, אבל כמו דוגמאות אחרות שיש כאן גם ליפנים יש את המילה גייג'ין לתיאור הזר שאינו יפני. בקיצור גוי זאת ממש לא הבחנה ייחודית לנו, אבל כמו בכל דבר אחר, כל מה שקשור אלינו זוכה לביקורת בכל חור :)
As always, Haza"l saved us from disappearing after the fall of the temple. But the price of this saving, is life in a cluster of a cluster, impossible to open to other people, and impossible even to open to the part of us which is not religious, or is religious but not in the way haredi culture wants them to be. Also, even though the sense of "goy" in hebrew would have a racist sense in other cultures, we still have to walk around it, and beat around the bush, because all of this is very fragile. I find it sad that we cannot build a new identity without these arrangements in the family. Good exchange anyway as most of the time.

Btw, I disagree with you that we learned that lesson in may of 1945, we, the enlightened we knew that racism would lead nowhere good, and that, from ancient times. How can we think that we were "chosen" (chosen to guide, transmit knowledge, right?) and keep it to ourselves? Jesus, if Paul and others did not make a god out of him, could've should've become one of our ways to self correct trajectory. Missed opportunity there. How could we not become at some point proselyte??? לא רק היפנים. גם תושבי אמריקה, גם היוונים שקראו לכל לא יווני ברברי, ויש עוד לא מעט דוגמאות

לפרטים ניתן לשאול כל ילד שמחובר למסורת.
הם חוקרי מקרא, לא רבנים, ובעיניהם הרבנים פירשו לא נכון והמציאו את הגיור, ואת ההבחנה של בין גר תושב לגר מגיור(צדק).
