You’re not failing sweetheart,you’re winning..big time👍
Good Day from Borneo
Hard work. You are the right age for this. Not easy when you get older. Good luck. One property like this in a lifetime is enough.
I started renovating my house in Portugal, aged 44. That was 21 years ago. Pretty much there now. So many individual projects, sometimes years apart as funds allowed. A few re-dos where I wasn't quite happy. I finished the natural swimming pool a couple of years ago. Cut into the hillside, it was a monumental project. I've just got a main bathroom to re-do, 30 metres of stone path to wind through the garden, then I'm done. Even if I won the Lottery, I'd never leave my Alentejan dream home. But you're right, the older you get, the harder it gets and it's a one in a lifetime kind of thing.
@@ianworley8169 That's amazing wow. You really have to enjoy doing things like this. It just becomes part of your life. We haven't had to renovate but we started from scratch on a piece of land 2 years ago. Both 40yrs old. Just enjoying doing projects as we go.
It also is very different when you are not doing it alone.
Your property sounds marvelous!
I don't see any failure, I see a successful learning process 👍
Maya after plastering you need to water the surface for at least 7 days for curing so that the plaster doesnt crack later on
for 1/2" or 1 cm plaster you dont need chicken mesh. First your chip the slab, so that it has some dents where the plaster will hold. Then you simply apply plaster. It is that simple. And then give 2 days to dry and then water for 2 weeks. -- Arif from Bangladesh
It is finished. Your instructions are unnecessary.
@@Valcourshhh. I found it interesting information
@@Valcour Shhhh. This is the only guy in the entire comment section who actually knows how to plaster a concrete ceiling. It is possible that the plaster finish falls off on its own weight if the concrete is not hacked.
I think it’s good information that will probably come in handy for Maya on future projects. Nice of that man to share his knowledge.
When you do things that are challenging often, other things you used to think were hard become easier. You become happier because your attitude increasingly becomes, "I can do it!".
We al make mistakes.. But let's not call them mistakes, as they are just life lessons, as long as we learn from them!! ❤️
I don't see a failure.. I do see that you learned what not to do, and how to do it correctly. That is a win!
You never fail until you quit. You've done such a great job. Doing all that masonry work is hard and complicated for people who do it every day. I'm seriously impressed.
Never give up. That is the key to success ❤
You never give up! I am a retired builder and you tackle more jobs than I would ever do!
Always double the mesh and use the smallest holes (13mm) you can get!
Also always paint a slush of plaster bond mix onto the walls before you plaster.
The last tip is to nail the mesh onto the lintels with masonry nails hit into the small gaps between the lintels
Keep going! You are doing an amazing job!
💪💪
Das Drahtnetz musst du mit Stahlnägeln vorher festnageln. Empfehle aber das Kunststoffgewebe, dass man auch für Wärmedämmung nimmt. Das kannst du mit Fliesenkleber einspachteln. Spachtel auftragen, Gewebe eindrücken, Spachel/ Kleber abziehen.
i see no failure, I see dogged determination!
When you install windows remember to ensure water does not run in under the window. Install the window high and have a drip pan that tilts down on the outside. So water does not accumulate on the sill itself ... It has to run off and away ...
It may not have been easy but you did it. Great job you two.
You've don it again. Nice work.
Maya, you are an excellent role model for girls and young women, and a great example that perseverance pays off!
Certainly not a failure Maya, you're smashing it. 👏 keep going ❤
Maya, you are dauntless! You should be proud of your accomplishmnt! Brava!
Also water, wet the dry surface before applying plaster for better bonding.
Persistence's pays off! Nice work!
I think a house has a heart. This one is so happy you’re there.
Sprinkling coffee grounds around your plants deters snails and slugs, plus extra food for the plants!
Dear Maya-You did not fail. You are doing an excellent job! I hope your windows and doors fit when they come in and that you can hire guys to install them. I hope you can also find some masons to help you and excavator guys and plumbers and electricians. More hands make the work go faster. I know you are trying very hard to do a hard job. Keep going ❤️
Your persistence is commendable😊
Adding cement ADHESIVE to the mix goes a LOOOONG way to getting the new cement to stick to the old! 😎
That's a properly difficult task. You've done well! Don't give up.
Great determination! Good job, Girls!
Good morning from Sweden. I really love to see your progress on your property. You’re so good
Well done you are a brave girl!
Also your so calming if I could show you a video my aina and kitty watching than sleeping so sweet
They look wonderful! Way to persevere!!!
One way to keep the mesh up is to use some small concrete screws
Absolutely!
I’m sorry I replied before I saw your solution 🤣
Wow Maya👏🏻❤️ and wow to all these comments from all over the 🌎 🌍❤️❤️❤️ greetings from hamburg 🇩🇪
Hi super proud if you girls. You did it and it looks smart. Now you can enjoy a nice sundowner on your window sill with a book❤❤❤
I learn so much from Maya's comment section!
You're doing a great job! You're doing your best and that's enough. 😊
Maya, hope the window fitting goes well for you. Hard work but you are getting there 😊😊
Well done Maya. I am loving your channel
Fantastic job Maya.
Maya you are such a hard worker. Greetings from New Zealand. Looking forward to the end result. Take care stay safe.🎉
Dear Mayu you are very hard working I hope god take care of you 😍
They looks amazing, well done both of you ❤❤❤❤
6:38 There you go. You got the hang of it. The professionals make it look so easy. 😉 The window sill looks great.
This has to start with a mixture of coarse sand and cement like a broth, thrown in with a small trowel. This will allow the plaster to adhere.
Great work Maya! I’m looking forward to seeing your bathroom project taking shape.
You have every right to be proud of your work! Awesome finish to a difficult job!
Maya, So proud of you. You have gotten so good at rendering and working with stone . Cutting out windows and working with mortar, you never give up. Your tiny house is looking wonderfully. I love it. ❤️ Blessings
Fabulous job so glad you could share that with your friend xx
Tip against your snails - worked for me like a charm: Use raw sheep wool around the vegetable plants. That keeps the snails away. Additionally you can use dried/crushed mint leaves poured around the plants. Greetings.
Wow! Those are thick walls.
Keep you cool in summer and warm in winter 👍🏻🇦🇺
If you double glaze.
Hello from Oregon USA, the window prep looks amazing, great work! I’m glad you kept on trying… your homestead is gorgeous!
Hello Maya. I have found for myself that when I take on a project that I have not seen or done before, I have opportunities to learn. Success is not always gained on the first try, but giving up could be considered a failure. Achieving the desired outcome is a Success! Have good days!
Thanks for posting and sharing. Glad to see your friend there and that she was such a great help.
I love the way you never give up. Such an inspiration.
Always singing and dancing and smiling and thats why you doing so good.😅😂
Looks good! I think you're doing a fantastic job. Keep up the good work!
Wow Maya! Your perseverance worked. Your windows look amazing ❤
Its not faliure... just part of the pathway to success 👍
Love your videos Maya!!🎉🌸
You are getting BETTER AND BETTER at masonry work. I think you have passed your apprenticship 😉👍🏻❤️
What a bright and beautiful difference you made with the stone!
Hi, in case you have to do this elsewhere, I watched another video (The Indigo Escape) where the builder, Simon, put the cement mix on the base of his tool (not on the top like you did) and flicked the cement onto the surface with a strong, hard flick and it stuck really well. Of course, he’s an expert and it always looks easy when the experts do things, but thought this might help. Also, not a failure! It was hard work and it’s ended up looking good 😍
Well done ladies, persistence pays, it looks amazing 🤩
What a beautiful start of this video.
Greetings from the Netherlands 👋
I’m so impressed with your progress on the interior, exterior & grounds of your home. I think that by winter time, it’ll feel like a whole new place, compared to the past winter. Well done.
You both did it!
I see a determined, never give up attitude towards her dream! Amazing lady!
Hey, ich mache immer etwas Kalk in den Mix dann klebt es besser. Als Haftputz (Grundierung) mit dem Quast (Pinsel) Putz vor streichen.
Deine Ergebnisse sehen sehr gut aus. Weiter so. Schaue Dir sehr gerne zu. Grüße
Keep going Maya, you’re awesome x
The window openings look great I hope you are proud with your achievement x
When YT sends you Maya, you sit back, chill and enjoy. Yeah it's Sunday, 6pm in Australia 🇦🇺 😅❤
So so proud of you. I wait with anticipation for you videos each week.❤
Fun to follow as you transform a cozy natural stone house into a concrete bunker
Brilliant job you did on the window ceiling✌️😁
It isn’t small change, it looks amazing! And you done it alone with your friend help. I am so amazed with what you have accomplished till now! Bravo! 👏

I love love watching you I'm 53 just doing things on my own now with my husbsick you give me hope and strength if I can afford patron I would always a place to explore big island❤❤❤
Yes first layer with very fluid mortar(Gobti in French) and then put the chicken wire and regular mortar ( thin layer) and a third one to finish
Why would you give instruction when it is already finished?! SMH
@@Valcour Qual é o seu problema? As pessoas estão a tentar ajudar, não só a Maya mas também para outras pessoas 🫣🤫🤔
Where did you learn to do all of this? It's been mind blowing seeing how many different projects you've tackled.
You have made so much great progress Maya. All the new shills you have learnt is very impressive.
You are one tough girl. You are doing very hard work in which you find a way to make it happen. I love you and your adventures.
Your cannas are very beautiful. I'm happy they are growing so well. You work so hard you need some happy & bright colors in your day. :)
Beautiful work maya.you cheer up my early sunday❤
I know your family is so proud of you! You are accomplishing what most of us wish for!! Keep rocking it!
Hi Maya. For your future window sills, it might be easier to make a cardboard template that you could cut to size then transfer to the stones
Breakfast With Maya! Fun!
You are doing amazingly, good on you ❤🏴
Good morning from austria,
Normally, you first install the window frames and fix them with wooden wedges and foam the window frames before you start with the plastering work
Don't forget to take into account that you also have to install a window sill with a gradient of about 3 to 5% before you start plastering
I most definitely do not call that a fail. It was very, very irritating, but in the end you achieve your goal. I do love the innovative plan of flinging the stuff. Fine work.
I will say you are persistent, very good trait for your projects. Instead of chicken wire, I would've used hardware cloth and construction adhesive to keep it in place. For future windows, you could use cardboard to make a template. Don't forget waterproof outdoor rated silicone along edges to keep water from getting under your sills. Cheers from Michigan.
Great work it’s coming along lovely
Jill of all trades. Nice work!
I think there is a different material that is use like your chichen wire. But usually the window is put first, then the rest items. Also in order to stay in place you could use slim nails bended or even better staples.
But your main problem is that everything you placed in that frame is unstable. The metal corners come of because you should have put screw in them. The mortar needs to be creamier so it sticks upside down
Try 2 to 1 sharp sand and lime, no cement required. This will stick like glue, even upside down! Most of my renovating is now done with this mix, sometimes 3 to 1. So easy to use when fixing/pointing stone and rendering on uneven walls as it sticks. Also no waste as anything you drop or do not use can be knocked up again the next day. Brilliant stuf! lime and
Happy Sunday, Maya, you deserve at least one day off 🎉🎉
Congratulations Maya 🎉. Very hard work paid off with diligence!! ❤
Well done the windows will look good and the view says it all x
I watch all your videos what a beautiful place you got
Great job!! Takes hard to be successful sometimes. Way to stay positive and keep going!
