    I am so happy to watch a reno as you prioritize your needs. Sitting as a family at the dinner table is more important than another sheet of drywall. Beautiful countryside. I hope you show more of it. Ohio, USA.

      Thank you for your kind words. And that is definitely the most important thing. Time flies by and so does any time you have with your children until they leave home. To start a family of their own. So we try to find a good balance between renovating and family time. And I will definitely try to film some more images from the area, I really don't do that enough now.

      @@petitrevefrance I've lived in NE Ohio nearly my entire life. (68). In my youth I had opportunities to travel. I look back and I realize the one place I barely enjoyed were the historical places and scenic drives of my own backyard. With today's generation of cameras and memory cards your family will relish these moments long after our time has come and gone. May good health and happiness surround you.

    You need to put plastic vapour barrier before you put up the drywall this will keep the moisture away

    • @petitrevefrance
      @petitrevefrance  4 месяца назад +3

      The moisture is in the thick stone walls that cannot breathe because they have cement on them. We are replacing this with an alternative that does breathe.

      funny, that you assume we didn't. Just because we don't show it in the video, our that you maybe haven't seen in in the video. Because if it's about the painting we did sanding it, (that's in the video) and we also clean it before painting (not visible). But If we had to show every step in our videos it would be a very long boring video. :-)

    You start by saying that in France they don't insulate the roof but the ceiling. This is no different like in the old houses in Amsterdam. Because the roof must remain ventilated to prevent moisture building up and therewith prevent rotting of the beams and roof boards. What I've seen you do with no vapour control layer and no ventilation by placing the insulation directly against the roof boards and sealing it off with plasterboard allowing moist penetration from 2 directions is asking for trouble in the long run. It looks like to be a glass wool and that is not the best either. Glass wool cannot withstand moisture and collapses. In potentially damp places, you should use rock wool. Is also much better and also much better fire resistant.

    • @petitrevefrance
      @petitrevefrance  2 месяца назад

      The isolation is'nt placed to the roof directly. I don't know where you live but here in france they don't use often a vapour control layer. Maybe of the mostly good weather i don't know why excactly 😅 The moisture issues we have in our room where in the floor and lower walls. This is because they are directly build on the earth, and the moisture didn't get out of it anymore, because the wall had a cement layer on it. We removing al of that so I hope that then the problems are solved.
