    Awesome! I just loaded up some SMK 168gr over Varget in new Remington brass. Now I'm really curious whether they'll shoot as well as the bullets 1st ammo. Thanks for bringing us along!

    Nice to see the Saber getting some good groups. Had me worried there from the previous test. For your reloads what worked extremely well for me was 42.0 IMR 4895, WLR primer, Sierra 175MK at 2.868 OAL. That gets my heavy barrel bolt action rifle in the .4 and .3 five shot groups.

    Hilarious how the lens of the camera makes the TRG look like a tiny rifle, the TRG 22 is a big gun, sure I have replaced the Sako brake with a ASE Utra Sl7i-BL and always have the Sako bipod on, but still certainly not a small gun.
    Thanks for your video. I love my TRG, it is a great gun with a great feeling to it. Looking forward to more content. Any possibility to strech out the distances you shoot at?

    Excellent video, Ive been shooting their M118LR ammo for years, not sure the difference of the 175 match they offer I have yet to try it. The M118LR ( the brass says LR and maybe powder is different? ) they used to sell it loose packed boxes, and those where sometimes finicky with bad primers like 2-3 in a loose box of 250. But at $.60 i paid for it, im not complaining. But this nicer packaged ammunition seems to be a bit more consistent. Its what i go plinking with. I have shot out just past 1000y with it in a windy desert out of a 20" barrel. And had 2" elevation dispersion with a horizontal dispersion of 18" + basically a horizontal string of shots placed on a steel target. I was impressed! I also find it to be the most accurate at 300 yards. Thanks again for the video.

    You’re making me wanna take my Rem 700 out! Outstanding groups! I haven’t heard of American Marksman but it seems like a great cartridge 👍🏻 I loaded up some 168 MatchKings with Reloder 15 that I need to get out and do load development with. Nice shooting, Marine. Charlie Irby would approve 🫡

    More than a 125 es? I get it, shot a .9 ish group at 100 but es is a more relevant test for farther performance and I wouldn’t spend my money on that. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Seems like good paractice/plinking ammo. Unfortunately with an es well over 100fps(not terribly surprising with factory ammo) it would not be my choice for long range shooting. I wish new shooters(not talking about you just people new to the sport) understood there is a lot more to ammo than what it groups at 100yds. Good shooting and good video.

    Sako and tikka barrels usually shoot slower than other barrels.Almost 100 ft slower so you are fine.

    I shoot this ammo quite a bit (400+) so far. From 100 to 975 yds from an 18" Seekins SP 10. I get 1 moa 5 shot groups regularly at 100 yds. Most groups are .75 moa but I have a bad habit of throwing one of the five so 1" groups. At 600 yds, I mostly get 6" or less groups. Sometimes more. At 975 yds, it did really well I thought. I've only gone that far once and it did better than the FGM 168's at that distance.
    I love the 175's. Bullets First is generally out of 168's anyway. The 175's go in and out of stock. I have also shot the 2nds and found them to be on par. I now order them. FGM is awesome but not affordable for as much shooting as I like to do.
    Keep having fun!

    I have to remark on the king comment. The 168 hpbt matchking from Sierra is the real king in the 308. Especially in precision reloads in my experience.

  • @rdsii64
    @rdsii64 7 месяцев назад +1

    Just a interesting tidbit to add. The MK316 the military started using to correct the lot to lot variances of the M118LR round is simply Federal Gold medal match in a brown box with a stock number and DODIC.
    If you want to role your own, load a Sierra match king over 41.75 grains of IMR 4064 in a federal case with a federal match primer.
    Pro tip- the tipped match king is a better bullet than the regular match king.

    i would not go with fps what it saying on the box, every manufacture uses different length barrel on their tests and each inch counts , ussually it's like 27" crazy barrels they use to test

      Federal uses a 20in barrel for their 308 not sure about the others. Your point is very valid.

    Shoots like $19 ammo. You never posted any SD or ES numbers for the bolt gun, but it was almost a 100fps ES. The FGMM shot more accurately and had way better velocity numbers.

      Tried to edit but wouldn’t let me. Just wanted to say liked the video and watch most of your stuff, don’t take my comment as being a jerk. Just pointing out there was definitely a difference that justifies the price difference.

      @@vwpilot00 No offense taken VW none at all. When I complete the written article I will pos the other numbers. In my opinion this ammo is punching WAY above it's price point. Especially if you consider PMC Gold 147gr is more expensive. I am not saying PMC is bad ammo I have used it no issues with it but didn't group nearly as well. Good to chat VW

    not sure whats with all the hype on Lake City brass lol its the cheapest stuff out there lol, it's not like it's some lapua, or norma, or some other custom made brass lol . literally 90% off all brass is LC brass , it's just as good as hornady brass lol

    • @Dayattherange
      @Dayattherange  7 месяцев назад

      Simply because it is reloadable. I was actually in a big box store last week and they had ALOT of that polymer cased stuff for 85 bucks a box of 20 and a lot of steel cased stuff. Also in measuring H20 capacity of LC brass as of late it runs about the same consistency as Lapua at least the 20 I had tested.

      Evidently you type faster than you think. What company needs a shill to sell premium .308 ammo for $19.00 a box? This man is 100% straight up and you owe him an apology.
