Dan River Kayaking - Power House Rd To Pine Hall Bridge

What a fun day on the water. Today I got to experience my Nephew's first time in a kayak. I began to teach him the basics of paddling as we navigate this 8.8 mile stretch of water. This section has some rapids up to class 2 which makes a great first paddle section for a beginner. Also, my brother Keith joined me on the water. He got to experience a crossover kayak for the first time and the maneuverability that comes with it. We finished the day with an adventurous take out at the Pine Hall Bridge.

You need that Pete Beck vocal urgency- “Paddle! Paddle! Paddle!” - to combat the GI Joe’s!
I’ve never seen that section of the Dan. It’s just as beautiful as the the rest. Hopefully we’ll get a decent take out/launch at the end one day.

This trip was a good start for kayaking and I would love to go again. Maybe we can do some kayak camping soon.
