  • This is my last ditch attempt to resolve the soft brake pedal issue. I am bleeding the brakes in the recommended order, using an OBDeleven scan tool to activate the anti-lock brake pump. I am hoping to find some air trapped in the ABS pump / module.

Is that an industrial building size transformer in that battery charger? Damn thing sounds like it could power a train engine.

Your battery voltage was dropping while doing this, Might be a good idea to turn of all heavy/unneeded electrical loads, especially headlights,👌👍

Also, according to VW manual, VCDS or abs pump activation is not required. As long as minimum pressure of 2 bar or 29psi is met and maintained while bleeding with pressure bleeder all air will be purged from abs pump.

I know I’m 9months late to this comment, could you point me to where it says that? Manual, rosstech, even a forum from Audi users etc?
I’m hoping this is my issue as I’ve only bled with 15psi, would the reservoir handle 29/30psi of pressure?
07 s4 with 4.2. I’m assuming air is in the abs, we had the brake system open for a few Weeks while performing other services on the engine etc. I assume abs module went dry.
Anyones help would be cool, unable to get the abs module bleed process to work while using VCDS.

@@vicariousclouds2340 RUclips keep deleting my comments. Not allowed to post links or tell you where to look. However if search up online “Ross tech abs bleed 2 bar” it should be the 4th page down, click on that and scroll down to post #11
can confirm it works. I used 30psi on a previous VAG vehicle with new MK60 abs unit that I replaced to due common failing.
      If all else fails try:
      bleeding with engine on.
Lock the brake pedal down overnight a few nights with a piece of wood or whatever.
Activating abs on a loose surface a few times. Such as gravel or mud etc. Then try bleed again.
Also it should handle the pressure.

2011 Audi A4 ABS module has lost communication with the car. I have a used work in working order but it will need to be coded. The stock ones doesn't work and has my car in limp mode and disabled a ton of things. Sometimes you'll hear the stock one that's faulty clicking as if it's trying to work. Any ideas from anyone on what could be going on or can someone point me in the direction on how to code the new one so I can install it. Thanks in advance.

Looks like you have air coming in from the bleeder valve, might be why you keep getting air from that caliper

    • @ModernEngineer
      @ModernEngineer  3 года назад +2

That’s what I was thinking originally but then wouldn’t you expect brake fluid to seep out considering the internal pressure of the fluid is greater than atmospheric pressure of the air?

Didn't know the OBD11 had this feature👍. 20psi is a little steep. Self bleeding brake flush machines tell you to never go over 16psi for any reason. Definitely seems like air is being introduced to the system somewhere.

Good video.. on the last few minutes of the video where there was a lot of air purging through the plastic hose on the waste bottle, was the abs pump running? All I can hear is your battery charger 60Hz humming.. I have same thing on my C5 Audi A6 Quattro it’s a squishy pedal but under normal tradition bleeding I don’t see any air in my hose on the bleeder screws regardless of what wheel I’m doing.. I’ve done buddy system ..open bleed, push and hold, tighten and release .. and I don’t see air.. I also used my Schwaben pressure canister system holding 15psig when opening bleed screws and didn’t get air, just clean brake fluid.. I have VCDS and will try this method with the pressure can on the master cylinder to bleed the ABS pump.. I did calipers and both rear hoses so I’m not sure if all the air is out.. maybe trapped in the abs pump? I noticed using OBDII I didn’t see you go into the car for anything so you don’t have to hold pedal or push it 10 times, which I’ve seen in other videos.. looking for some help to get brake pedal hard.. tx

I have a 2019 VW T-CROSS and has only 4000 km. Recently VW changed the brake fluid (time interval change) but after the service the cluth pedal is different. The clutch felt like a new car now it is more week like a used car around 40.000 km not a 4000 km one…. What happened? I am very dissapointed of VW service. Not to mention the quality - my car camed with missing screws and many more problems. Please reaspond 🙏 thank you! Great job with your videos. I do have obdeleven but still i have payd for theyr brake fluid change 😒 and i do not have your pressure tool.

The ABS Module will generate pressure, just make sure between activations of the ABS just go and top off the brake fluid again, don’t want air getting in to the master cylinder.

      Control units >
      Brakes>
      Basic settings >
      Bleed brakes>
      And ran last option "finalize".
