  • Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel where we help you take your music production skills to the next level. Today, we'll be covering a common issue that many music producers face when recording in Ableton Live - latency.
    Latency can be frustrating and can make it challenging to achieve a smooth and seamless recording. But, in this video, I'll show you how to record without latency in Ableton Live using direct monitoring.
    Direct monitoring is a feature that allows you to hear your recording in real time without any latency. This means that you can perform confidently and capture the perfect take every time.
    In this video, I'll guide you through the steps of setting up direct monitoring in Ableton Live, including adjusting your audio settings, selecting your input source, and enabling direct monitoring. I'll also cover some basic tips for achieving the best sound when recording.
    Whether you're a beginner or an experienced music producer, this video is for you. By the end of this video, you'll have a much better understanding of how to record without latency in Ableton Live, and you'll be able to achieve high-quality recordings in no time.
    So, if you're ready to eliminate latency from your recordings and take your music production skills to the next level, then make sure to watch this video. Don't forget to leave a comment below letting me know how it worked for you.

    Good and simple trick, thanks. I believe it`s great for reverb and such, but it still has latency in it if you try dynamic processing in the bus, for example.

    • @pushpatterns

      Yep this is the only downside. But you can always add that on after you have finished recording

    Just make a track for monitoring only, then select the "low latency during monitoring" option in the menu bar (monitoring track) [Place Auto-Tune in low latency mode, and all FX's you want here when monitoring your vocals]
    (Record Track) Next, create another track, in which you'll record the input from the interface, and make shure that track is OFF, and the output set to Sends Only, or Ext. Out
    Then have a third track where u'll drop every recorded audio from the mic. In this channel you can have the same setup as in your monitoring track to preview what you've just recorded with the same FXs as your monitoring channel

      It sucks, you still monitor your Vocals with a constant variable delay doing this…

      Which technique are you referring too? And do you have a viable alternative?

    So does this mean people don't have to spend $1000 on a UAD Apollo Twin interface because it has "0" Latency?

    • @pushpatterns
      @pushpatterns  3 месяца назад

      Not really, you can directly monitor on most audio interfaces 🥳

    Great video, thanks. So this will only allow delay/reverb sends to be monitored? will it allow chained effects as well?

    • @pushpatterns
      @pushpatterns  Год назад +1

      You would only be able to monitor what’s on send and returns. If your experiencing latency I would monitor directly without the chains then put your chains on once recorded

    Nicely presented video but it does not address the issue of recording without latency in Ableton Live. Instead you are addressing how to hear your voice as a send effect where the master channel is monitoring post-fader. This is only going to confuse people who are new to Ableton Live.

    • @YoungNino2017

      Exactly... once the audio is recorded it likely will be out of time and need to manually be adjusted unless you do test recordings to test latency and adjust the delay compensation (and usually even then it drifts by the time you actually record something you want to keep).

      @@pushpatterns the thing is that on a clean project I can barely hear latency. But on the one with a bunch of plugins, the latency is insane. Can you do sth with that? :)

    • @pushpatterns
      @pushpatterns  3 месяца назад +1

      @@ProfessorSaibertin There are a few ways to deal with this. For any tracks with a lot of processing (instruments, audio, and MIDI effects), right-click on the track and select "Freeze." This will temporarily render the track as audio and free up its processing power. You can always unfreeze it later if you need to make changes.
