I absolutely love this conversation. It's an open, honest, and needed conversation. We all have our flaws and we all need Jesus. I so agree with what he said about how as christians, it's our job to let others know that God has them and loves them. It truly isn't our job to "police" anyone's process. I am grateful for Kirk's honesty and transparency to let the world know that we all struggle with things. Thank you, Shannon, for allowing people to open up and share their truth on your platform. God bless.
Thank you,Kirk, for starting Shannon on a gospel music journey- each time he said he didn’t know an artist I fainted a little! Come on over,Shannon-you’ll love it here! 💕
When Kirk came on the scene, he opened up a whole new audience to gospel music. Thanks bro. We could still dress cool and slick and still love the Lord.
This interview is sooooo Good. Kirk Franklin was so transparent about everything himself, the church, his vulnerability, trying to connect with his dad. Wow!!!!
Kirk Franklin is showing what a REAL relationship with God looks like. To be comfortable and secure in God to allow the space for Healing and TRUTH is a Testament for what God does to His people who has a Hunger and Thirst for Him. Moving and Powerful ! 🙌🏽 🙌🏽 🙌🏽 Amen !!!
I really enjoyed this conversation! I stayed in the church (until about 15) as a kid because of Kirk Franklin. He’s so relatable and as a spiritual person, I appreciate that. ❤
Im only 15 mins in, but this is the best description of some of the problems in the church. Taking a personal feeling & trying to force someone to believe your feeling. Most of problems in today's society. I get what Unc was saying about some of the newer gospel artist as it took me a minute to start listening to some of the new gospel artist. I loved the old school gospel artists. But I have definitely heard "Take me to the King," so don't fuss at me😂
This was an AMAZING interview. I love how transparent and raw this interview was. I was already a fan of Kirk Franklin the artist, but I am now a fan of Kirk Frank the MAN!!!!!!! Great job Shannon Sharpe !!🥰🥰
Kirk keep it 100, 100% of the time! He is an open book and wears his heart on his sleeve. God bless you Kirk and thank you Shannon for bringing him on.
The Steve Harvey interview was my favorite until I watched Kirk Franklin's. If I wasn't already a believer, I would definitely wanna know who God is! Excellent interview!
Such a great interview!!! Still laughing at "I look at the feet"! LOL .. I truly felt that when he said "that's my daughter." He said that with his chest, his whole chest! I love this interview. And Mr. Shannon needs to record himself the first time he listens to Take me to the King ...smh.... lol
He is so right about the limitations within the church and trying to balance that perception with opportunities. I grew up in C.O.G.I.C., and their idea of success is only reserved for the pastor. They believe everyone needs to stay on God's path, struggle, and miss opportunities. As soon. as I was older.....I realized that a relationship with GOD is a personal journey, not what others think it should be.
It was so great getting to know who Kirk is! The interview was so well done! What a wonderful, bright, introspective, mega talent he is. A warm and phenomenal human being. When he said he’d be a 4th grade teacher because he loves kids and pouring into them…that made absolute sense to me merely based on the time my 7 year old met Kirk at church. He ran up to him and yelled “that’s Kirk Franklin!” 😂Kirk was SO kind and genuine in his interaction with him. Fully present. It was beautiful to watch. God bless your ongoing journey Kirk! Thank you for sharing your story.
People will talk about you even if you came across the right or wrong way. But life goes on and you have to keep doing what you’ve been doing and be happy about it. Your music is fabulous and uplifting. I’ve been listening to your music since day one and will continue to do so. ❤

When it come to modern Gospel, Kirk Franklin is it, Kirk Franklin Change, the way people view gospel music, still gospel, but the twist. Kirk Franklin is amazing. He made some great gospel music, especially for the young generation. I applaud him for that fight fight against him in the church. some churches don’t allow him to come to the church to sing when he just came out they crucify him church folks are one of the worst the worse than the world hypocrite them. I know I’ve been there Kirk Franklin he is a king of modern gospel. Give Kirk Franklin is Flowers Wiley still alive? You have done a lot for Gospeland he also made traditional gospel music too not only modern and traditional gospel. The man is a genius amazing
I love me some Kirk Franklin…from the moment he stepped on the scene in the 90’s his energy has always resonated with me..I enjoyed this interview, wish it were longer..❤
Best interview to date. This interview touch my heart in so many ways because it allows me to look at my own life and my upbringing to know that God hasn’t given up on me and never will.
I loves this interview ❤❤❤ The safe space for men to be emotional and real without judgement is top tier. Kirk, I love to hear you speak with such vulnerability and compassion. Shannon you killing it. Your show gets me through my daily walks. Bless you brothers 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Shannon's heart about Kirk speaking with his mother is genuine but being in a similar situation as Kirk, sometimes you just have to let relationships go with parents who can't meet you halfway. It hurts but you also have to protect your emotions and not continue to put yourself in that position with that parent to be hurt. Sometimes love from a distance is best until that person can really see the issue. Kirk has a lot of grace for his mother, but he still has to protect his sanity and heart ❤
I'm honestly here because of the now infamous Katt Williams interview. Why, because as much as I love Kirk's music, I maybe watched one clip of this interview and feel that THIS interview, from three weeks ago, should have gotten press, even without watching five minutes of this yet.
I LOVE that Kirk Franklin gets his flowers NOW because he deserves it

I am grateful for Kirk's honesty and transparency to let the world know that we all struggle with things. Thank you, Shannon, for allowing people to open up and share their truth on your platform. God bless.
Thank you,Kirk, for starting Shannon on a gospel music journey- each time he said he didn’t know an artist I fainted a little! Come on over,Shannon-you’ll love it here! 💕
Right😂😂😂 I was like is he joking😅
💯, when he said he didn’t know Fred Hammond!! 🤯😵
Take Me to the King is one of the greatest gospel records ever. ❤
How has he never heard this !!! That’s crazy lol
Wow!!!!
Shannon needs a whole gospel mixtape cause ain’t no way he ain’t heard of these people 😂😂😂
Right
NO WAY
It will open a new world for him
Nahh fr! Come on Unc!😭
Sometimes people heard the music but don't recall the artist. I feel like he's heard the songs but can't correlate the names with the song.
I always love Kirk Franklin conversations. Most of all I love His transparency ❤ May God continue to bless Him and His Family.
Awesome to see Kirk Franklin on here speaking the truth. Love the show Unc
Shannon, the interview with Kirk was the best!
I remember folk in the 90s used to bump some Kirk in the car ~ that melodies from heaven is a timeless classic
👍🏽💥🔥💯🎯
The trauma.. living with open wounds of abandonment.. I felt that, Kirk ❤
But I have definitely heard "Take me to the King," so don't fuss at me😂
😂😂😂😂
This was my favorite episode by far. The conversation, the authenticity, the honesty and most importantly, the prayer!
Beautiful interview. They filled each other's cups.
This was an AMAZING interview. I love how transparent and raw this interview was. I was already a fan of Kirk Franklin the artist, but I am now a fan of Kirk Frank the MAN!!!!!!! Great job Shannon Sharpe !!🥰🥰
Yesss I love how Kirk is educating him on the history of his genre. There are some amazing gospel artists out then and now! 🙌🏽
The punch lines in this conversation are spectacular! 👏🏽👏🏽 I'm writing them down as we speak. 👍🏽👍 Thee best one so far, such depth. 🙂
100 %. Life Seminar @Shay Shay 🎉🎉🎉
And Mr. Shannon needs to record himself the first time he listens to Take me to the King ...smh.... lol
We need Unc to just take a whole week and let him listen to the gospel classics.. so much he's missed
I must say this interview with Kirk Franklin was immensely honest. Kirk and Shannon are real brothers. Great Interview! Dre
What I love about Kirk Franklin. He one of those down to earth Christian folks. And has humor and doesn’t take everything so serious like most.
People will talk about you even if you came across the right or wrong way. But life goes on and you have to keep doing what you’ve been doing and be happy about it. Your music is fabulous and uplifting. I’ve been listening to your music since day one and will continue to do so. ❤
Who else got goosebumps when Kirk said Devante from Jodeci?
Me 💯💯💯💯💯
I did! Devante is a musical genius!
👏🏿👏🏻👏🏽Shannon delivers again....this interview was so great..Kirk is laid back, and is funny as ever...it's good to see these interviews without all the hype..just a moment in time where celebrities can just breathe and talk about what they want...Unc keep doing your thang!!!👏🏿👏🏻👏🏽👏🏿👏🏻👏🏽Thank you for the prayer...bless the world and everyone!!
STOMP!!
Best interview to date. This interview touch my heart in so many ways because it allows me to look at my own life and my upbringing to know that God hasn’t given up on me and never will.
First time I ever watched a two hour interview on RUclips ❤
The prayer at the end, PROFOUND!
You can say what you want about Kirk Franklin but that man his a musical genius & God has blessed millions of people through him.
I second this.
Same! I had to do the same with my father.
I appreciate the realness of this conversation
I'm honestly here because of the now infamous Katt Williams interview. Why, because as much as I love Kirk's music, I maybe watched one clip of this interview and feel that THIS interview, from three weeks ago, should have gotten press, even without watching five minutes of this yet.
Now that was DEEP! It’s not my job to police your process! ❤
The way God uses his people to speak his message is incredible,in every mess in life there’s a message, god bless🙏
OMG!!! This interview was everything, especially how most of was raised during that old school era in church. Thank you!!!
My favorite interview of Shannon. He was open and receptive and something was different about this one
God was in it😊
