    Hi, thank you for the benchmark testing. I currently have the same P1 Gen 6 but with the i9 13900H and RTX4090 GPU. I tried to replicate the exact same benchmark test on cyberpunk, and I am getting FPS of around fifty. I have my bios default, I had to disable the keep cool while on lap since I was trying to get as much juice as I can from the battery, My NVidia settings are default, everything is default but still, I am way off the 130 fps you are reporting. What could be wrong?

    • @B4YBTech
      @B4YBTech  Год назад +1

      Hi Luis,
      I believe that I had DLSS on and that may have been the reason for the high framerate. I don't think I messed with the settings GeForce experience loaded onto my game by default. I will have to run another benchmark without DLSS and see what kind of performance I get.

    • @LuisGonzalezConrad
      @LuisGonzalezConrad Год назад +1

      @@B4YBTech I re-run the benchmark a couple more times to see if I could get a better FPS and I was able to reach your 130 mark only under Low graphic settings. I would definitely appreciate you rerunning your benchmark test once more and grab a screenshot of the final stats of the test to corroborate your exact settings. Since your P1 has an i7 and an 4080, there is a definite difference in hardware even though is not that much but I wouldn't be surprised a lower end CPU and GPU could get a better FPS. Thanks again.

      I just picked up this laptop (same exact config in the video: 13800h rtx4080 QHD+), and am also unable to get 130fps in the Cyberpunk benchmark using the RT Ultra preset and DLSS set to performance. Honestly, I was pretty skeptical of that number in the first place. Even a full 175W 4080 gaming laptop shouldn't be able to hit that, at least not without frame gen. I get an average in the low 50s, which is still impressive IMO, and seems appropriate for 1600p and this gpu being limited to 80W + 25W boost. I get a similar result with the regular Ultra preset (no RT) and no resolution scaling. FWIW, I am able to get similar results in the Horizon: Zero Dawn and Time Spy benchmarks as seen in the video.

      The laptop is thin and light - good for lugging around
      The OLED is amazing - color accuracy is second to none and peak brightness is decent
      The machine runs in the high 40c to mid 50c under light loads. Fan noise can be heard even when temps are idle.
      The placement of the thermal intakes on the bottom of the laptop is a step in the wrong direction for lenovo. This coming from a P51 owner. I have to invest in a laptop stand to keep the intake path clear.

      I personally haven't had the opportunity to use the HP Zbook studio G10, I would personally go for the P1 Gen 6 because of the I/O but also because Lenovo always has sales on their website. Such as using a thermal camera or thermal gun to measure temps on different areas like the keyboard, palm rest, near the function row, on the base of the laptop, etc. Oh and maybe also a decibel rating for the fans when under full load? • @little_fluffy_clouds
      @little_fluffy_clouds Год назад +3

      Comparing my 16" M2 MBP to a P1 gen6 with the IPS screen option here. MacBook Pro is heavier due to its solid aluminium chassis, has much better battery life, a mini-LED screen which looks punchier in HDR mode and the same level of performance whether you're on battery or mains power. The fans on the MBP remain almost inaudibly quiet, even under load, and it doesn't really ever get uncomforably warm to the touch even under sustained load.
      P1 is lighter but still feels solid, has a better keyboard, much better GPU performance, but nowhere near as good battery life. Also, the fans are audible in performance mode when under load. The underside can get tangibly warm to the touch after sustained load, but this is a non-issue if you use it on a desk, as opposed to your lap.
      Ultimately, they're both awesome laptops, sleek speed demons, and the one you choose depends on whether you value battery life and performance per watt over absolute performance regardless of power consumption, and whether you prefer macOS or Windows.

    Great video! It answered a lot of questions I had in mind. I've been trying to look for a laptop similar to my current x1 extreme gen 1 since they discontinued that line, and glad to find this P1 line that's pretty much the same as x1. Just one question, how's the fan noise on this P1 line? Does it only run when you do some heavy performance work like gaming or rendering/editing stuff? Thank you!
    In the first whole year around 2019 when I got my x1, the fans has been started running regularly as long as the machine was on, like every few seconds the fan started to run for a while like 20-30 sec maybe and then off, then wait another few sec to repeat this, even when I didn't do/run anything. That was a total nightmare, though the problem was gone since after I updated to win 10 1909 and ran some script, somehow. Don't want to repeat that super frustrating nightmare ever again. But if the fan gets a bit crazy running a game or super professional software then I'm fine.

      Thank you! When I am running the laptop on battery for normal tasks (web browsing, office, productivity tasks, discord, notion) I never hear the fans kick on and the temperatures are good, it gets warm at best. The fans only kick on during rendering videos, playing video games or any application that requires more from the CPU and GPU.

      I'm upgrading to this from an X1 Extreme gen 2 myself. My X1 also had the fans running a lot from time to time, but that improved over the course of various updates. It's more of a Windows issue from what I've seen, since there are often background processes using up more CPU than they ought to, and I've been running Linux on it for a month or two now and it's dead silent 99% of the time. Everything works while in Linux, btw, even the GPU, the fingerprint reader and various games via Steam. Anyway my P1 with i9, 4090, and 64gb is coming in a few days, so I'll try to report back once I've tried it out.

    would be great to have some cuda benchmarks like blender, as it is much slower 80watt version than other big 18" laptops with 150w gpu and mobility has it's sacrifice like up tp 30% lower performance

    If this had a numpad and a haptic trackpad with no buttons it would be the dream laptop

      I agree with the haptic trackpad that would make this feel much better, but I personally prefer this keyboard layout, the numpad will offset the trackpad and won't be able to have upward facing speakers to flank the keyboard. I do believe that there are other ThinkPads that have the numpad layout though and that might be worth a look,

      Also if the CPU didn’t thermal throttle at the slightest touch, it would be nice. Sadly the cooling solution isn’t good enough to prevent throttling in such a thin chassis. I love my P1 gen6, but this is my only gripe

    Thanks for the great video! Love that it supports USB-PD charging since the basic charger is a total brick. But what's the performance like when it's juicing up via USB? Hoping it doesn't wimp out too much on performance and gives us near-max performance with some amount of battery drain.

    Dude - if I paid that much for a laptop, I'd wanna make sure I was 100% satisfied with it. These days, I find myself buying gamer laptops and use them as workstations 😉(poor man's workstations).

    I will say, this laptop is dang near perfect. I think once the P1 Gen 7 hits with Intel Meteor Lake, hopefully the CPU side temps will have been tamed a decent bit.

      I love this thing and I don’t regret pulling the trigger. Looking forward to the next generation

    I'm in the market for a 16inch workstation that doesn't pack in Intel's overheating garbage.
