  • Is the Vauxhall Mokka the coolest crossover of all?
Let CarGurus help you find your next car: www.cargurus.co.uk/Cars/artic...
The original Vauxhall Mokka sold in huge numbers despite being far from a class-leading crossover. With the all-new 2021 Mokka, Vauxhall has upped the style factor to help it remain competitive, and now offers it with both electric and petrol powertrains. In this CarGurus UK review Rebecca Jackson tests the 2021 Vauxhall Mokka with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and automatic gearbox in order to find out just how much progress this small crossover has made.

I have just got the 1.2 (week ago) Ultimate automatic in black. Nice looking car and really nice to drive with plenty of power. (Unfortunately its got to go back to the garage as Collision detection risk system is faulty.) Only real problem with car is the lane detection system. Its fine on motorways and main roads but country roads it is terrible (most of my journeys are on county roads). It constantly pulls you into the centre of the road which can be very annoying. I now switch this off each time I get in as well as the start stop. The handbrake is also annoying. If I stop a traffic lights I have to manually select to stop rolling, it is not automatic as in other cars. Overall a very nice car.

So we have had a petrol automatic Mokka for 12 months. So the lane control is a pain. Getting in the back is another issue. So kids will be ok but if your an adult you will have issues getting in and out. We have the keyless entry. We have given up on this as it is so temperamental. Then one big issue is when we go to open the car with the key fob. We find the car will not open. The key fob stops working. So we have a trick now to get round this. We have to open and close the boot. Which I am guessing because we have keyless entry it allows us to do this. Then the key fob comes back to life. We can now open the car with the key fob. The car has been back 7 times to the dealer. Still not fixed. Oh Vauxhall customer service is a waste of time. I will not say what I think of them.

Actually, one of the best things about Vauxhalls is that they have real buttons and knobs where others rely more on touch screens. Vauxhall ergonics are first rate. Better than many more expensive cars. (I don't work for them or anything like that, I've just noticed how they manage to keep the basics away from being buried in technology better than other makes.)

I have this very version on order. The 1.2 Auto Sri Nav Premium. Fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on the dealers forecourt. I think a lot of people are hung up on Vauxhall's previous reputation. They are having a brand reboot and I think this car is an amazing start to that change of focus. All cars will have plus and negative aspects too them and it's a little easy to get swept away by all the car reviews and reviewers when 99% of buyers will not be judging them so closely to other cars. It will come down to personal choice on a lot of stuff, and the way a car looks is so important as many cars these days just drive very well. This Mokka comes stacked with safety tech too. Judge the car after it's been out for a while and see how the engine reliability and build quality stacks up but to pre judge it because of past Vauxhall's is unfair. I was considering a Puma but was put off by Ford's options as they are so expensive, this Vauxhall has everything I want and more. And as for build quality, have you seen the rear parcel shelf on a Puma? Probably the worst designed and flimsy piece of crap I've ever seen on a car. Which again shows every car has pros and cons. I've seen Audi and BMW's with quite baffling design quirks on them and these cars cost a hell of a lot more than this Vauxhall. So I for one can't wait to take delivery, only 5 more weeks to wait. Well done Vauxhall, in my opinion, the best looking small SUV out right now. Great review btw 👍🏼👍🏼

A nice statement of facts and I agree. It was like when Jeremy Clarkson used to review cars, he pulled a face before he even drove the car, "Because its a Vauxhall ". I love my Mokka, didn't have the previous model as I had an Astra before which on its introduction was car of the year in 2017.

Already got a launch edition petrol auto version on order and SHOULD be here around July. I’m betting more like August or later due to parts shortages (there are shortages in chips for the computer systems) and COVID still having a knock-on effect.

Still got the old shape (2015). Love it. Seems fine enough on the road to me, but then again, I'm not testing different, sometimes much more expensive vehicles, everyday. Obviously can't compare it to the Evoque or Q5 we had, but for the price, no complaints. PS, the back seat is for children. That goes for all cars. Don't know why all these reviewers seem to think that strapping 6 footers are going to ride in the back 😄

Have one currently as a hire car. Find
    A) knee space is very poor for driver
    B) Electric handbrake is a bit of a pain as needs to be disengaged manually
    C) lane keep assist is very intrusive
    D) not much space in the back
    E) clutch pedal is higher than the brake pedal, which feels a bit weird
    F) drivers door opening is a bit small so can make entry a wee bit awkward
I like how easy it is to drive, but im looking forward to getting my Civic back from the garage as its a wildly better car, more comfortable and just easier to live with.

Vauxhall is a company that seems to struggle to keep up with the competition. This is a nice design with some pleasing details and elements. Functionality seems adequate but nothing seems to stand out other than the color cues. All black interiors are so confining and this one would be greatly improved with a lighter headliner or a panoramic sunroof. Seems like Peugeot's have more going for them and the Ford Puma still remains my personal favorite. Good review, however, covers all the bases and proves why CGs is good to watch.

Anyone else underwhelmed by the PSA groups selection of quite expensive cars with not enough range?
Battery prices are about £100 a kWh so this car has a £5000 battery, motors are relatively inexpensive, the floor is shared across the group for both EV and ICE and everything else is out the parts bin.
It's almost as if they want to seen to sell EVs but would rather not.

I like the bodywork design of this car but would not by a Stellantis product for two reasons. 1. The puretec 3 cylinder engines on former P.S.A. products can be troublesome. 2. Stellantis are restructuring their dealership network across Europe. Looking at the detail this will lead to a reduction in dealerships and customer service will be even worse than it was under P.S.A.

Please, change your name - you are far far away from gurus. A lot of your statement are just thrown into to air. Did you ever try to realise that this is a niche, stylish model, not a practical family car /Crossland is what you are looking for/ and regarding the styling - it is on the edge. Just show me a car in this segment with more bold, clear lines and better proportions. If it was not a Vauxhall, but VW you will be mesmerized.

I’ve seen both the electric and ICE models on the road and I have to say, I hate the design especially the nose... I think it's a Marmite design.
I do wish car manufacturers would have conventional dials, as an option on the electronic displays , for the speedometer and Rev counter/battery level rather than the silly wee digital speedometer that sits in the middle of the display…
