Totally agree about the small cars! Even in North America where I am, there are some cities that are very dense and room on the road and parking lots are at a premium. I got myself a GLS as the result of a “keeping up with the Jones’s” mindset. I got a service done recently and got a C class for a loaner. It was a revelation the kind of freedom as all car affords you in the city… it’s so easy to just pull into a spot head first without going round and round the car park looking for a space where I can actually open my doors. Turning out of small streets where the perpendicularly parked cars are stopped right up to the edge of the intersection. I also forgot how much more relaxing it is not having to worry about making sure you’re leaving enough room for traffic on both sides - in the smaller car, I was always fully on my lane… with room to spare. Anyways, I bought a large car for the luxury of having the extra interior room… I now realize that to have more space all around you is just as great a luxury!

Good review. I rented this car for a week of holiday in Portugal. In fact I chose a VW ID3 but instead I got a Mokka E, a supposedly 'similar vehicle'.... Conclusion: motorway range was terrible (215km max on a full charge) and the indicated range on the screen wasn't honest. But it's a good car for the city.
Corse e has a battery that craps itself when it sees the sign for motorway. Vauxhall could have fitted a 65kwh battery to this car making motorway predictions more accurate and remove the anxiety of higher speeds. In winter its even worse, I've had a very bad experience with the corsa e and will not recommend it. Terrible ride quality from the rear axle to the point I found it dangerous, as the reverberation over an undulating surface made the whole car difficult to corner and skittish, as the weight of the battery for a car that doesn't have EV architecture made the chassis not fit for purpose. Great as a city car only. As for the Mocha being less areo dynamic, I can any assume its a massive financial mistake. Again probably great city car only.
I see it as a bit of a problem that EVs are currently being so heavily defined as "city cars" and whatever label the longer ranged alternative gets. "City car" almost seems like an apologetic shrugging of the shoulders in response to "does it really only go that far?". Now that is not to say that there is no legitimate market for a city car, as I am sure that a lot of vehicles spend 90% or more of their time pootling around a town and its suburbs and occasional longer trips may still be realistic with planning. Some people may even be in a position to actually spend £25-30k+ on a "city car" and get a second car for weekend trips away. But considering that second car with longer range might cost another £40k+ (albeit with cheaper models gradually arriving with more respectable ranges), who are these people who can afford to spend perhaps more than twice as much to get the same overall functionality, split between two separate vehicles? Back in the real world a lot of low to mid income families are going to be looking for a single car that can do it all at the best value for money that they can find. And even if this hypothetical family seldom drives more than 20 miles at a time, the desire for a one car to rule them all results in at least a little bit of thinking along the lines of "but what if I need to drive a long way some day?". Interestingly though Vauxhall's own website is quoting the batter as 50kwh and the range as 201 miles, which makes me wonder if that is a slight error in the review or if it is covered by the "usable capacity" and real world range estimates. Perhaps that is the case as Vauxhall's range calculator for it does put it under 130 miles at 70 mph.
@@Karras353 The thing is though most people want a 'do it all' electric car, nobody can really afford to have a city and a norma usage car. The battery range in winter with heating on doing motorway driving you'll be lucky to get 90 miles....out of it. Its terrible believe me. Mocha being as aerodynamic as a brick with the same battery will achieve far less. Come on Vauxhall you can do better then this...then there is the issue with the chassis and handling...👎
Yeah, that is what I mean. There is virtually no way that we would be able to get multiple larger vehicles for different purposes and I'm not sure that I would want to (though cheaper extras in the form bikes and scooters can still be fair game). Most of our driving is indeed done around town and suburbs and longer trips are a rarity. But that need to have a single all purpose vehicle pushes us towards slightly larger and more powerful vehicles than we actually need for day to day use, since there is no point being stuck with some cramped and short ranged set of wheels when we want to take it on holiday or having a pitiful lack of space in the back when a trip to IKEA or B&Q is needed. So that does already rule out a lot of smaller cars anyway, even though a few might have a semi respectable range. But then the current selection of EVs does include a few models that look plenty spacious for the family, yet still offer an inflexibly short range. I do hope that this changes in the near future as I am more than happy to switch to an EV for our next car. But I don't think that we are very well served by what is currently available. At best we would be railroaded into a mere handful of suitable models.
Green! Really hope that Stellantis starts beefing up their imports. It's great they're converting the American brands to electric, but would love for at least one (just one at least please) to come stateside. I do want lower prices, but just want more options over here in the US first.

If Stellantis don't get a wriggle on and design a much more efficient EV, the Chinese manufacturers will soon eat the Company for breakfast with their much more affordable offerings. Entertaining review as always Jack.
The "visor" might be Opel Manta A derived, but it's not a million miles from a Vauxhall Magnum or Firenza from the same period. Especially with the ridge down the bonnet.
15:20 - Driving at 'motorway speed' is really, really bad for economy. Air is thick, and driving at 70 mph is incredibly hard work. Nothing will ever change this. Unfortunately, modern cars are so quiet and comfortable that people think 70 mph is a barely tolerable minimum, not an absolute maximum. Blasting along at 70+mph uses an astonishing amount of power, so please don't blame your ordinary car for finding it hard work. It's the equivalent of trying to run in thigh-deep water; walking's much easier. Ignoring minor differences caused by altitude and temperature (important for planes, not relevant for cars), the only way to improve fuel economy in air at subsonic speeds is to slow down. So if you want an amazing improvement in your mileage figures, drive at 56 mph. Why 56? Because it's a good compromise between fuel wastage and getting where you're going. Air is air, and nothing will change how hard it is to shift aside in a metal box that's just the right size to hold 4 humans. Fish are fish-shaped because water's dense, and no fish swims at 70mph. Jet airliners have blunt, 'dolphin' noses because that's what works best at 500 mph in the thin air at 30,000 feet, which is about the same resistance the aforementioned dolphin experiences when pushing through water at 30 mph. Just slow down a bit. Forget about cruising at 70 mph. You'll still get there in the end.
That doesn't excuse the bad charge-level indication. Also designing for less air resistance would help to boost efficiency at higher speeds. For ICE-cars, that doesn't matter much as it just adds a little to an overall criminally inefficient way of moving a car forward, but it has a strong influence on EV-range with its highly efficient motor.
would have thought the Kona Electric would be the perfect cross shop option against this - range is amazing and accurate (had one for 3 years now, so can attest), rear seats much more roomy from the looks of it, while the cabin in the kona looks slightly more underwhelming. Perfectly functional, just everything you touch in the Kona is korean hard plastics
Eco just forces you to do what you can do with your right foot. Staying in sport and accelerating gradually and using regen appropriately will give the same result.
@@موسى_7 we'll see how much the new 2022 model Costa when press launch happens on 1st Nov. Lots of changes and upgrades along with a bigger 71Kwh battery.
Like the styling, like the drivers environment, like the "squishy" ride. Especially like the dashboard. No super iPhone center screen - yeah :-) Needs more room, more battery, more motor, and a frunk.
This actually looks pretty nice. Almost exactly the same external dimensions as the Chevy Bolt (Opel Ampera-e) except it unfortunately ends up with a much smaller battery (45kWhr vs 60/66kWhr) affecting range negatively and a functionally useless rear seat (the Bolt's is quite usable even for tall people) owing to the fact that it's built on a "dual use" platform (hence the big long hood/bonnet) that needs to accommodate ICE dimensions. If you don't need the rear seat and don't drive longer distances, it's at least still available in the UK and Europe and looks to be somewhat cheaper. I definitely approve of the focus on physical controls, there's nothing more frustrating than trying to poke and swipe your way through a touchscreen to adjust a simple climate control setting.

So green ... 💚
Green! Your videos are great, really helpful for us to navigate to a decision on a e-Niro purchase this week. And Jack, what a hoot, clearly the spiritual successor to Jeremy Clarkson but without the dickishness, and pretty nice on the eye, too, in that pub brawler kinda way, and it’s always lovely to see Robert too 😘
I was so close to buying one put the order in but change my mine & order a petrol version, for me the battery not long enough yet
I will get a EV next but they need to get to 300 miles for the same cost,
great shows keep up the good work
They haven’t pulled together, they were bought by a bigger company
My Mokka, high beam warning light is hidden by my left hand , while driving, Awesome to get in and out of, Under pressure is comfortable, with round town driving with out worrying about using the heater, you feel safe in it.
What's the point of having a car like this with 5 doors? At least if it had 3 doors it wouldn't piss you off that there is not that much space in the back. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Because I need four doors regardless, my daughter sat in it today and loved it
Because 3 doors are a pain in car parks
10:50 "Its all the things a "semi" affordable family car should be". I would have thought being affordable would be a priority
Mokka From £19K
Mokka-E From £34K
They are aiming this car at a market currently well catered for by companies offering simply better cars with better range and better warranties and more features. Looks pretty but they, like Ford and other relic mass car makers in Europe are about five years behind the curve
In summary, it's... OK-ish. So definitely a Vauxhall then.
Geordi La Forge wants his visor back.
Geordie La Forge wants a pint and a bag of crisps, like.
But the Klingon skull-ridge in the bonnet is just silly. Make it go, Mr Worf.
Better order an Earl Grey.
who else heard him speak of a mockery-car?
a grrrrreeeeen mockery?
Yep, I was wondering if it was just me who heard it like that - apparently not 👍
I have one In white with red strip for 6 months now and I can only say I love it ...
You Brits/Europeans are lucky to live in a place that embraces our electric future. Here in US we have fewer choices. Given the reactionary character of many people and car makers here we are lucky to have any choices at all
Chrysler group belongs to Stellantis too (due to the merger between FCA and PSA), so in no time you should see some EVs from them too.
Fantastic motor I’ve had my one for four months and really happy with it
GREEN! (Which is why I’m a member of FC) 😊👍🇦🇺
funny review , thank you. i need to send you a list of things everyone is interested in checking out that you completely missed. why do you think it is important to tell us if the buttons work and are smooth we have been making buttons for over 60 years. yes they have perfected making buttons ( just a silly example using buttons but that apply on the rest of the car) please don't tell us if the seats are comfortable lol yes we have been making seats for many years and yes everyone has perfected making seats. anyhow you all know what i am talking about when you review a new car. NOW on a good note . . . i loved the review and had fun watching it i can speak on everyone's behalf hear you are good at explaining things. keep up the good work
If Stellantis don't get a wriggle on and design a much more efficient EV, the Chinese manufacturers will soon eat the Company for breakfast with their much more affordable offerings. Entertaining review as always Jack.
Colours great……car not so much. Please involve the crew more. Always great to see those who keep this fantastic channel running. 🖖
GREEN! (Well you suggested it) seriously - great video!!!!
Any info on the beginning instrumental please?
Oh god, those rear seats bring back some flashbacks 😅😅
Also: Green!
Well, I won’t be adding this car to my if I win the lottery wish list then. Thank you for your an honest interesting review.
Rear indicators are a saftey issue, with the brake on you can not see the tiny yellow in the middle of bright surround.
Why do I get "Here's Johnny!" Shining vibes when Jack was borderline interrogating the rest of the crew XD
As a Mokka-e owner I like your review, well done! My only remark about range, it drastically increases by swithcing from Normal to Eco…
Eco just forces you to do what you can do with your right foot. Staying in sport and accelerating gradually and using regen appropriately will give the same result.
Sport all the time...just charge the Damm thing more often 😄😄
I like it on Sport, just recharge a bit more.
Was great to see this in Bristol :D recognised Avonmeads straight away and Whitby Road. Subscribed. I might need to test drive one of these soon.
Green! (Had to)
I would like it. So GREEN 💚
Thanks for the review... helped me choose the Mokka e 😎✌
First EV to feature a womb instead of a rear seat
I ordered one of these on my mobility scheme. But due to the shortage of chips it may take a while. Great video as usual 👌
ths not svhem we ntt git bug fuxed iyte fute wrolk as irimis best testing
Thinking of ordering one in the next few weeks. I really like everything about the car. My other choice is the new MG ZS ev due out soon.
ZS EV is much better and cheaper
@@موسى_7 we'll see how much the new 2022 model Costa when press launch happens on 1st Nov. Lots of changes and upgrades along with a bigger 71Kwh battery.
buy mg beter
Like the styling, like the drivers environment, like the "squishy" ride. Especially like the dashboard. No super iPhone center screen - yeah :-)
Needs more room, more battery, more motor, and a frunk.
What should I buy the mokka e the 2008e or the Id4 ?
Ha Ha! Robert's bit at the end has none of the graphics that he's pointing at.
Great review.
Again!
It's awesome that so many companies are producing electric vehicles.
Nice to see long term reviews like this
