I watched this review and took Matt's advice and bought one. The finish is just not like Peugeot of old its really beautifully made and very solid -more Audi standards than Peugeot amazingly. Driving it feels quite special somehow -more than the sum of parts. Have put all-season tyres on it and it goes through the recent snow without noticing -its a great vehicle !

Ive watched this review at least 10 times. I was looking for a new, reliable family car for some time and finally I bought that 2008 (not trough Carwow) 130hp manuel. I paid the car right away and it felt weird to spend so much money at once but I think it is worth it. What Im trying to say is: Mat's reviews are spot on. This vehicle puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Just hired one for 4 days and have mixed feelings. It's lovely to drive and I was very happy with it but there's more understeer than I'm used to(Fiesta owner). Rear camera is absolutely fab, way way better than my Ford. Some ergonomic design issues though 1) It's really hard to engage the seat belt as it's squeezed between the centre console and the seat 2) cup holders are way too shallow. I was constantly catching stuff with my arm when changing gear 3) Window controls on driver's door are designed for somebody with T rex arms. I'm only average but even with your elbow banging against the seat back you can't reach all the buttons without bending your wrist 90 degrees or lifting your elbow. 4) The main collection of control buttons in the centre look a bit strange (personal view) but are also positioned horizontally. Would have expected them to be angled either downwards or slightly towards the driver.
It's a lovely car but I think the ergonomic issues would wind me up after a while

Mat, the reason the rear windows don’t go all the way down on some vehicles is because of the wheel well. If you don’t have the wheel well sticking into the door the window can drop. Or if you put a fixed piece of glass to the rear and have a smaller opening. Then you have a fixed window in the way too. Design over function at it’s finest. Enjoy your reviews!!! I always take issue with criticism of the "cheap and plastic feeling pieces" on the interior of a car. It depends on where they are. Those pieces are designed and put in places to be rugged and durable and inexpensive to replace. They'll get kicked and scraped a lot. Obviously there are some cost saving measures in many cases, but padded soft touch materials in certain areas will be ruined in no time if they're put in high wear areas.

Waiting for Boris to let me go out & drive it. The car itself looks fantastic both inside & out. The infotainment system looks complicated, but when you actually use it, it is fairly straightforward and intuitive. A feature rarely mentioned in the reviews is the voice control. You can use it to navigate, change radio stations, play music files and alter heating settings that I have come across so far. Perhaps not as slick or

@@kenyon516 This is the 3rd 2008 I have had since the original in October 2013. All of them have been utterly reliable, I get them serviced every year and there have been no issues at all. There was a recall on the first car for something to do with rear seatbelts. My daughter now runs my 2nd facelift model and it has been trouble free also. Apart from new tyres and brake pads on the front just the usual wear and tear items. I can say that I have been completely satisfied with all three 2008's I have had. They are comfortable, roomy and economical. I have only done 7000 miles since buying the latest car in 2020 but it too has been totally reliable. From my own experience of these cars I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone thinking of buying. I will say the Peugeot interiors are well up there. But I drove the 3008 two and a half years ago. It was stunning inside, but every engine in the range was abysmal. Up my local hill, a few miles from the dealership, the automatic shuffled back and forth as it couldn’t decide which gear to use. Woefully underpowered.
Let’s hope they’ve improved that aspect of the vehicle.

I had a short list of small SUV's that I was interested in and after test driving where I could and looking at all the reviews possible I came to the conclusion that the 2008 was the best of the current line ups, this review went a long way to making that choice and watching the same reviewer testing all the cars on my list really helped get a consistent view. I took delivery of a Vertigo Blue GT Line a couple of weeks ago and all I can say is Mat got it spot on, this car is punching above it's price range and compared to the VW's the quality of finish is far Superior. I originally looked for brand new but got a deal on a pre-registered 20 plate with 10 miles on the clock for £6k under list price, I think I got a bargain for the money.

There are many things we can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus): washing our hands, coughing into our elbows, avoiding touching our faces, staying home if we’re feeling sick and social distancing. But what is social distancing? These frequently asked questions explain how to practice social distancing in order to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community.
    General Information About Social Distancing
    Q: What is social distancing?
A: Social distancing is the practice of purposefully reducing close contact between people. According to the CDC, social distancing means:
Remaining out of “congregate settings” as much as possible.
    Avoiding mass gatherings.
Maintaining distance of about 6 feet from others when possible.
Q: Why is social distancing important?
A: Social distancing is crucial for preventing the spread of contagious illnesses such as COVID-19 (coronavirus). COVID-19 can spread through coughing, sneezing and close contact. By minimizing the amount of close contact we have with others, we reduce our chances of catching the virus and spreading it to our loved ones and within our community.
Q: Who is social distancing important for?
A: Social distancing is important for all of us, but those of us who are at higher risk of serious complications caused by COVID-19 should be especially cautious about social distancing. People who are at high risk of complications include:
    Older adults.
People who have serious chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes and lung disease.
Q: What is “flattening the curve”? What does it have to do with social distancing?
A: “Flattening the curve” refers to reducing the number of people who are sick at one time. If there are high surges in the number of COVID-19 cases all at once, health care systems and resources could potentially become overwhelmed. Efforts that help stop COVID-19 from spreading rapidly - like social distancing - help keep the number of people who are sick at one time as low as possible.
Q: When should I start practicing social distancing?
A: The best time to begin social distancing is before an illness like COVID-19 becomes widespread throughout your community. Each community’s situation is unique, so it is important to follow the guidance of local government, health departments and health care providers.
The advice below is applicable if you are symptom-free and have reasonable confidence that you have not had exposure to COVID-19. Always follow the guidance of local government, health departments and your health care providers.
    Visiting Public Spaces
Q: How can I practice social distancing in the workplace?
A: When possible, keeping about 6 feet of distance between yourself and others is key. It’s also important to practice other preventative measures such as washing hands, avoiding touching your face, coughing into your elbow and staying home if you feel sick. Depending on your job and your community’s situation, working from home may be an option. Always follow local guidance.
Q: How can my child practice social distancing at school or at college?
A: It’s important for people of all ages to follow preventative measures, including staying about 6 feet away from others, avoiding touching your face, washing your hands and coughing into your elbow. Many schools in the U.S. have postponed classes; it’s important to follow local guidance, as each community’s situation is unique.
Q: Should I be concerned about going to the grocery store?
A: In any place where large numbers of people gather, there is potential risk for disease transmission. When you visit the grocery store, keep about 6 feet between yourself and others and use prevention techniques like avoiding touching your face and washing your hands. If possible, visit the store at times when there are likely to be fewer people shopping.
Q: Should I take public transportation?
A: If you have the option, driving yourself, walking to work or working from home can help reduce the number of people who are using public transportation, which benefits you and your community. In any of these situations, it’s very important to keep distance between yourself and others in addition to practicing other preventative measures.
Q: Should I stop visiting restaurants and bars?
A: Avoiding public places as much as possible helps prevent diseases from spreading. If dining out is a non-essential activity, then it is generally in the best interest of you and your loved ones to avoid it. Always follow local guidance.
Q: Can I still go to the gym?
A: If you do go to the gym, wipe down and sanitize your equipment, keep distance between yourself and others, avoid touching other people and practice other preventative techniques. Alternatives could include exercising in your home or yard or walking through your neighborhood. Avoiding unnecessary visits to public spaces is important.
Q: What about events and places where many people gather, such as concerts, festivals, sporting events and churches?
A: Risk of disease transmission is much higher in large groups of people. Currently in North Carolina, meetings of over 100 people are prohibited in order to prevent COVID-19 from spreading rapidly. Avoiding these gatherings are generally in the best interest of protecting yourself, your loved ones and your community. Always follow local guidance.
    Meeting with Others
Q: Should I stop visiting my elderly relatives and friends?
A: Older adults are at high risk of serious complications from COVID-19. Limiting their exposure as much as possible to those who may be sick or who may be carrying the disease is crucial. This is a great opportunity to try other methods of connecting, such as over the phone or through a video chat.
Q: What about social distancing with other people in my household?
A: Avoiding close contact within a household is almost impossible, and social distancing is mainly focused on large groups. However, if someone in your household is sick, it’s important to minimize close contact with them as much as is reasonable.
Q: Should I stop meeting up with 1 or 2 friends? Should I stop dating?
A: While meeting up with another person who also is symptom-free may be alright in some situations, keep in mind that risk of disease transmission is higher in public places. Now may be a good time to consider other methods of connecting with others, such as over the phone or through a video chat.
Q: Can I have a small group of my extended family and/or friends over to my house?
A: If possible, it’s best to postpone these kinds of gatherings and look for alternative ways to connect. Avoiding non-essential gatherings is important for preventing the spread of disease.
Q: Should my family and friends cancel big gathering events like weddings and birthday parties?
A: While it’s difficult to postpone important events like these, it’s also very important to protect our loved ones - especially our loved ones who are most vulnerable. If possible, it may be best to postpone or alter your plans. Currently in North Carolina, meetings of over 100 people are prohibited in order to prevent COVID-19 from spreading rapidly. Always follow local guidance.
Q: If I’m avoiding in-person gatherings, how can I stay connected to others?
A: There are many ways you can connect with friends: phone calls, text messages, emails and video chats are all great virtual options. While physical social distancing is important for our health, so is social interaction - trying alternative ways to stay connected is a good way to take care of your emotional health.
    If You Are Experiencing Symptoms
Q: How should I approach social distancing if I start to feel sick?
A: If you begin to experience symptoms, it’s important to stay home and distance yourself from others. The length of a typical quarantine period is 14 days. Always follow the guidance of your health care providers and local government.
Q: Can I have visitors while I am in quarantine?
A: Having visitors should be avoided as much as possible. Quarantining is an important way to protect your loved ones and community from picking up the disease; visitors are at high risk of catching the illness from you.
Q: Can I go outside in my yard if I am in quarantine?
A: Depending on where you live and your community’s situation, going outside and getting some fresh air in your yard may be safe. Always follow the guidance of your health care providers and local government.

Having recently test driven the 2008 with 100 and 130hp, the 3008 with 130hp and the 155hp Puma... If you are after innovative exterior suv type design, more space (especially at the rear) and a rather neutral soft driving experience go for the 2008, if you demand any sense of thrill and joy out of driving, the Puma is your only option.
    2008 Details
I would say that the 100hp 2008 was surprising as it had more pull than I expected and it was pretty decent in power delivery. Unfortunately the opposite was the case with the 130hp 2008, while there was a bit more power available it didn’t deliver that much extra pull or fun as I had expected. While the 2008 is very pleasant to drive, there is definitely no real thrill in either of the two engines. The 2008 exterior design is stunning, it is a joy look at, besides the flat triangle shape (the “rock” styling) on the sides, which never grew on me and kept on bugging me. The interior is very fresh and impressive, quite futuristic, to the level that at times it became slightly an over kill to my taste. Perhaps it is too aggressive in trying to impress inside the cabin, targeting more at the 20-30s age group. The 3008 is so much calmer and elegant and if the 2008 had followed that sort of interior styling I would be one step closer to choosing the 2008.
    Puma Details
The Puma on the other hand has a nice interior but a rather neutral dash, no extra effort for design thrills there. One thing that actually bothered me was the blue color of the screens and the fact that the color of the middle screen cannot be customized and to a lesser degree the fact that it is not tilted towards the driver. However, while it is hard to explain, the interior of the Puma somehow feels like it’s put together in better way than the 2008, especially regarding things like buttons and switches they have a feeling of higher quality in their touch. Once you start driving the Puma, it offers such a nice feel, the engine, the gear box, the breaks, the steering and handling, it all gives you a big smile and i admit I ended up forgiving and forgetting the fact that Ford didn’t try as much to impress with the dashboard design.
    Notes
Strangely enough as a tall person when the seat is high in the 2008 I got an obstructed view from the roof which meant I had to lower the seat to improve my field of view, which as a result gave me a lower driving position and less of an suv feel. In the puma I didn’t need to make such adjustments which actually made me feel like driving a taller car. The 2008 however does feel more like an Suv in terms of size, the long linear squared front and the lengthy rear seats and boot,in comparison to the Puma, which feels narrower and more compact. One last note of an odd detail of the 2008, the rev meter on the analog dashboard of the “active” model was reverse, meaning that when revving up the indicator went counter clockwise wise.

    • @eg9962
      @eg9962 8 месяцев назад

@@music_lyrics depends.. on your needs and taste. There is not one correct answer to that question. I would go for the 3008 knowing I am going for a rather slow but spacious, comfortable car with a taller driving position and a bit more serious and calm interior design. At the same time I should clarify that I am in my late 30s with a family and a young child. If I was ten years younger without a child perhaps I would go for the 2008.

The idea of the steering wheel and cockpit is such that in stead of the a head up display, they've raised the dials up towards the windshield and uses a smaller sporty steering wheel that you are supposed to position lower above your legs so that you have a perfect view and your steering wheel doesn't obstruct the view of your dials.
Im quite tall, I've used it a lot and it works fine as intended. If you're stubborn and use it with the steering wheel up in stead of the intended use, that's fine but hey... read the manual before you complain about it to hundreds of thousands of people WITHOUT mentioning that you are simply ignoring their design.
I can understand that you PREFER a higher positioned steering wheel regardless, but moaning about it without mentioning why they've designed it like this and trying their intended approach, is a bit of a shame.
That's my opinion. Other than that, ace review!

That is the reason for us not buying a 3008 4 years ago when they came out and why we won't be buying a 2008 now we need a smaller car. I'm sure we're not alone. Would have made sense if the pinnacle could be raised.

It is called Vertigo Blue, mine is Pearlescent White also it looks really nice in Cummulus Grey.
Get the GT Line 1.2pt 130 bhp or the Allure with same engine, you won't be disappointed

At 1:23 you can see the French quality with moist within the headlight. Peugeot heritage is still in their products.

Them calling it 2008 sort of does my head in. In a couple of years people will be saying "i've got a 2020 2008" ?

I told my parents I was getting a 2008 in July. My mum said "That's a bit old isn't it?" Gave me a laugh that I had to explain that was the model name, not year

Really helping me make a decision on my next mobility car, was looking at these and now definitely want one, but it will have to be black though.
