Im currently living in Japan and bought this SUV 2 years ago and it is the best purchase I've ever made. People look at us when we pull out onto the road, the sound system is phenomenal and I've never felt more safe in a vehicle before in my life. I'd buy another if I had the money. Just wish the steering wheel was a little bigger.

So true, I drove one about two years ago. It was lovely inside but it was a true gutless wonder when going up one of my local hills. My test for any car that I’m looking to buy is does the automatic hunt up and down the gearbox while going up the hill or does it pull smoothly and with no effort. In the 1600 diesel version it was bloody annoying. In the end I went for a second hand A4 S-Line estate with the 211hp petrol engine. Lovely car but had the piston ring problem from the 2008-2011 model years. A litre of oil every 600 miles - Audi said that was acceptable.... I’ve got a GLA45 now, no suffering with a power deficit on that one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've owned one of these for the last 3 years (well the 1.6 turbo non face lifted version) and it's brilliant. Great design (especially the interior) and tech. I love the small steering wheel and find it easy to look over to view to instruments even though I'm not overly tall. As for the engine start/stop button, it's not that you have to press it harder to shut the engine off, it's a time thing, like 1 second. If you quickly dab the button nothing happens but hold it down for a second and the engine shuts down.
Press lightly is for accessories. Hold it down for start or turn engine off. Simple once you get used to it. Agree re small steering wheel. My wife is 5ft2" and has no trouble.
Well buy 2nd or 3rd hand and you'll be able to buy some pretty nice guys and in decent condition. In fact you'll get some reliable and low maintenance cars quite easily. Whatever you do, don't buy a crossover, they're all useless things which make you regret buying them almost instantly. I know because I had one for about 6 weeks whilst I was having some work done on my car.
I've owned the 3008 GT Line since June 2019 and LOVE it! The drive is the best I've ever experienced and level of comfort and spec is out of this world. I'm seriously considering the 2021 hybrid.
Update. I have purchased the 1.6 hybrid model. My only two gripes are the smaller fuel tank (to make room for the batteries) meaning I only had 35 miles remaining in the tank following a 272 mile journey. I have to say that as well as the engine being new, I did have my Halfords top box on. The other is the apparent removal of manual drive on the hybrid. The paddles are there but no 'M' button. 🤔 Great review Matt as usual.

I had one on hire for a week took It down to Devon and back It was really good to be honest , I thought the 1.2 engine would be gutless but it performed excellent.
Your enthusiasm & recommendation persuaded me to buy the previous 3008 - not enough changes to this version to make me want to upgrade. The 1.2L petrol engine is great, I think that I’ll be keeping my 3008 for the foreseeable future. Great review as usual though.
Want to know how tough they are? Mine is 1 month short of its 3rd birthday, couple of months ago the garage dropped it off the ramp! Almost every panel was very poorly, but their insurance didn’t write it off, she was repaired to good as new. I drove 23,000 miles in the first year, its on 37k now. Superb car. Matt’s moan about the climate controls...I only touch them twice a year 😂 summer and winter settings. 1.6 EAT6 diesel auto GTLine.
I have the current 3008 and, apart from the frankly crap service regarding regular sat-nav updates (ie none since 2017 from the Peugeot update service - I had to download the update from a Peugeot customer forum), the car is fantastic. I'll most likely be upgrading to this when my finance is up.
I LOVE the 3008 but I hate the new logo, luckily the 3008 still has the old one! Me and my brother just bought one for my dear mother :D Perfect size for them and cool design 👍🏼
We just last month ordered a new 3008 Allure diesel manual in vertigo blue with the black diamond roof. It will be our 4th straight Peugeot lease. Love their cars and love their service. Great prices. Currently driving a 2017 2008 GT diesel in black. Prior, we had a 2008 Allure in gray and before that we had a white hatchback 308 limited edition. Got that one in 2009. All leases.
@@om96 I live in Germany and drive the Autobahn everyday. I do very little city driving. I prefer manual. Plus I prefer having more control over my car.
Damn, I just bought the non AWD 3008, six months ago. I love it, but ideally, I wanted AWD. I'll upgrade it in a year or two. You forgot to mention that the new infotainment screen is larger, but I agree that the interior is almost the same as the old version. Thankfully the interior is probably 5 years ahead of it's time. I love the interior, but my only single gripe is that it is not simple to dim the dash lights and the I cockpit is a lot brighter than the other lights, such as on the steering wheel or down by the volume dial. I also have the steering wheel set low and have a perfect view of the I cockpit. We have Ultimate Red and it's a stunning car. Nice review again Matt, except I was certain you would say go ahead and buy it.
I have a Citroen C4 Picasso and you have to control a lot from the screen including the climate control. But you actually get used to it and is alright
I have Peugeot 3008 GT 06/2017, and it's pretty fucking amazing car. Super nice, comfy and very well equipped. I agree with basically everything Matt said, as the car looks and feels exactly like this new model from the video. I can only recommend it. Btw I'm so so sad the E-Legend concept didn't make it into the reality. Could've been the next step of evolution for Peugeot.
That armrest cubby is huge. Had one of these as a courtesy car for a while a couple of years ago. Popped down to the shops and I actually managed to fit four 2 litre bottles of milk in there and shut the top of it 😂
You know the car is THE CAR when Mat doesn't get real annoying problems with the car and nitpicks them. Peugeot has been killing it with their designs.🔥
Considerably better than Volkswagen products. Have had several vw/audi. The 3008 pug is excellent, great driving, economical and really nice on the inside. Would recommend the glass roof and Focal speaker fit.
The red is possibly the worst colour imo but each to their own I guess but I did spend a lot of time looking at this car in person in al colours 😂 The best colours in order are: Vertigo blue Nera black Pearl white Cumulus grey Iv had a black GT model since September and it’s the best car iv owned so far. Also the only reason I didn’t go for my favourite colour (vertigo blue) is I would have had to wait at least another 4 months. So settled for 2nd choice
Unfortunately Peugeot delayed it's come back in North America due to the pandemic crisis... still you can import it for France but it will be pretty expensive ^^
Have owned a 2021 3008 hybrid for over 1 year. We love it. It’s so cool, inside and out. Just a joy to own. Just wish it did 100km on battery instead of 28-50 depending on external temperature. Also, a 2 year factory warranty? Wtf! Nothing is perfect but we love this SUV.
My sister has this car, but 2018 one. I love it, especially how comfortable the seats and suspension is and how quiet it is. 1.6 engine with 180 hp could be a little bit faster, but I find lack of 4x4 in this car mostly dissapointing.
As a Peugeot salesman I really agree with your review Mat. Let me just highlight the fact you've tried the middle version called in France "Allure". The higher one "GT" looks better and has more equipments 😉
Matt You should create statistics to keep up the track of cars you recommend to go right ahead and buy it,to shortlist, to consider or to avoid! That would be interesting to keep track of those numbers.
@@RDJ2 Well I do like the sedan too, but damn the sw is too cool (if you like sw in the first place), i really love the sw... but I do enjoy my 208 just the same.
I bought the 3008, because I wanted an SUV, however I do think the interior of the 508 is better. I like the fact that the infotainment screen is lower down and the vents are above it. I also like the fact that the I cockpit is a bit wider. I've never driven one, but I have taken a look inside and it's beautiful. The car I'm really dreaming of, is a production version of Peugeot's Fractal.
@@Justyburger Ahh cool, my whole family has Peugeot and my older brother owns the 508 SW and I borrow it a lot, it’s a very nice car... But I went for the 208 GT instead, also a lovely car 😃
This looks good ! What really stands out ( for me ) is no matter the fact there is a lot of metal on the interior it's all matt finish. All the black parts are matt too...no shiney, glossy plastic that hurts your eyes in a sunny day and every spec of dust on it just kills the finish of the car. I HATE GLOSSY PLASTIC in a car interior !
I am currently awaiting one of these as a new mobility car in April/May this year. A GT diesel in gorgeous celebes blue. A darker blue than you have here. Such a stunning beautiful car. It’s interior, the outside it certainly turns heads when it’s coming. I cannot wait to recieve mine. I currently have a 14 plate mk1 3008 which I will be trading in once I receive the new one. As old and dated as my 14 plate is - the reason I have stayed with the same make and model is because I love this car so much as a whole. It’s like driving in a favourite armchair I’m so comfortable in it. Hoping the new model is just as amazing to get used to driving wise

I had one on hire for a week took It down to Devon and back It was really good to be honest , I thought the 1.2 engine would be gutless but it performed excellent.
Peugeot are nailing it lately. We have had one for three years and no problems with daily use.
Hey man, how's it now?
Still waiting on that 1/4 mile running race

Hi Matt, just wanna thank You for Peugeot 208 video. You help me chose this car and it is awesome!
Mat you need to do a review on the new hyundai tucson
Yes, please. And compare it with the Peugeot, the Skoda, the VW and the Seat.
Your enthusiasm & recommendation persuaded me to buy the previous 3008 - not enough changes to this version to make me want to upgrade. The 1.2L petrol engine is great, I think that I’ll be keeping my 3008 for the foreseeable future. Great review as usual though.
Had one of these on a rental and one major annoyance was that in manual, every time you change gear you’ll elbow whatever is in the cup holders 🤦🏼♂️
Its not bad, you will get what you paid for. Usual Peugeot quality, remember oil change regularly, wet cam belt doesn't last with dirty oils.
Regular oil changes are a must in any car from any manufacturer if you want longevity.
the Peugeot interior is one of the best in the business
Yes
I am a salesman for Peugeot in the uk , mat absolutely hit the nail on the head with this car 😂
To be honest, that’s when you feel the suspension in most other cars too
Exactly, even in my Audi A3
I thought exactly the same, here's a suggestion Matt, try and avoid potholes. 😂
@@broccoli_highkicks1 he should get a Rolls-Royce 😂
@@broccoli_highkicks1 you mean "pah-holes" 😆

Want to know how tough they are? Mine is 1 month short of its 3rd birthday, couple of months ago the garage dropped it off the ramp! Almost every panel was very poorly, but their insurance didn’t write it off, she was repaired to good as new. I drove 23,000 miles in the first year, its on 37k now. Superb car. Matt’s moan about the climate controls...I only touch them twice a year 😂 summer and winter settings. 1.6 EAT6 diesel auto GTLine.
Since the 2008 model I’m starting to like this brand
I have the current 3008 and, apart from the frankly crap service regarding regular sat-nav updates (ie none since 2017 from the Peugeot update service - I had to download the update from a Peugeot customer forum), the car is fantastic. I'll most likely be upgrading to this when my finance is up.
Finally a review of a car many people can afford instead of the tested high price luxury cars.
Great car review Matt, I enjoyed it immensely. 👍🏼 Love the French accent - you nailed it!!
I LOVE the 3008 but I hate the new logo, luckily the 3008 still has the old one!
Me and my brother just bought one for my dear mother :D Perfect size for them and cool design 👍🏼
Good grief - the logo on any car rates about 7000th in term of importance. (BTW it is really the old logo - 403 - 404- made a bit larger)
I got a red allure coming in few days. I picked the 1.2 Automatic.. made most sense.. wife picked the colour. Good looking thing excited I am
Who ever is running Peugeot now is really steering the brand in the right direction. The new ones look incredible.
All leases.
Should’ve got the auto
@@om96 I live in Germany and drive the Autobahn everyday. I do very little city driving. I prefer manual. Plus I prefer having more control over my car.
I have and i love this car
I really like it too... But too expensive😔
I can’t wait to get this in black well excited hurry up March / April 😊 ♥️🙏🏾💯
I have Peugeot 3008 GT 06/2017, and it's pretty fucking amazing car. Super nice, comfy and very well equipped. I agree with basically everything Matt said, as the car looks and feels exactly like this new model from the video. I can only recommend it.
Btw I'm so so sad the E-Legend concept didn't make it into the reality. Could've been the next step of evolution for Peugeot.
That armrest cubby is huge. Had one of these as a courtesy car for a while a couple of years ago. Popped down to the shops and I actually managed to fit four 2 litre bottles of milk in there and shut the top of it 😂
Well well well, how the tables have turned.
A Peugeot being filmed by an Audi eh??
id take a Peugeot, both unreliable but much cheaper than audi

You know the car is THE CAR when Mat doesn't get real annoying problems with the car and nitpicks them.
Peugeot has been killing it with their designs.🔥
Considerably better than Volkswagen products. Have had several vw/audi. The 3008 pug is excellent, great driving, economical and really nice on the inside. Would recommend the glass roof and Focal speaker fit.
I got this car as an rental and I’m was so impressed that I’m considering to buy such a car. The red looks really good on it
The red is possibly the worst colour imo but each to their own I guess but I did spend a lot of time looking at this car in person in al colours 😂
The best colours in order are:
Vertigo blue
Nera black
Pearl white
Cumulus grey
Iv had a black GT model since September and it’s the best car iv owned so far. Also the only reason I didn’t go for my favourite colour (vertigo blue) is I would have had to wait at least another 4 months. So settled for 2nd choice
I need this car in my life 😍👍👍👍
We love cars from France, America and Canada😍👍
Unfortunately Peugeot delayed it's come back in North America due to the pandemic crisis... still you can import it for France but it will be pretty expensive ^^
Very entertaining! Greetings from Singapore. Happy New Year 2022.
Who remembers Doug DeMuro reviewing a Peugeot 3008?
Poo-geaut haha
He was reviewing this car in Mexico
yes the colour scheme was a bit odd to say the least....
except he is american.. which is sceptical. lol trying to compare himself to matt.
@@rysi0k110 actually, he borrowed it from a viewer then drove it from Mexico to San Diego
Matt: So then I’m a Peugeot fan
Thinking of buying 1 of these & found your video very helpful, thank you 👍🏽😊
Who else agrees peugeot have upped their game exterior wise with their new models, they seen to all have a similar design which look stunning
My sister has this car, but 2018 one. I love it, especially how comfortable the seats and suspension is and how quiet it is. 1.6 engine with 180 hp could be a little bit faster, but I find lack of 4x4 in this car mostly dissapointing.
Why would you like to add a 4x4 when the suv like this kind will never put a wheel on mud, dirt, or anything else ?
@@kayzenl7911 snow?
As a Peugeot salesman I really agree with your review Mat. Let me just highlight the fact you've tried the middle version called in France "Allure". The higher one "GT" looks better and has more equipments 😉
Why don’t more ‘family cars’ have 3 seats in the back instead of 2+1. It rules out so many cars for us 😡
It is a subliminal message for people to be aware of the world's overpopulation problem
Move to the 5008
Matt You should create statistics to keep up the track of cars you recommend to go right ahead and buy it,to shortlist, to consider or to avoid! That would be interesting to keep track of those numbers.
When are you going to test the new mokka and crossland ?
Really loving matt's presentation. French accent is funny.
I think the new 508 looks nicer. Peugeot nailed that one.
Which do u like the most, the sedan or the sw?
@@Mskaterzy I think the sedan. But I haven't seen the sw in person yet.
WHERE IS THE MATT VS YANNI WE ASKED FOR ???

J'aime the French accent Matt

You get a large naturally aspirated 4cylinder engine that is more more fuel efficient and more powerful at the same time than this tiny 3 popper.
On the Toyota you change the timing chain at 500,000km, oh and there's no turbo😅
Its not often a facelifted model looks way more resolved than an original design, which already looked decent. Now its really distinctive. Interior is sick too.
