I helped my mum buy a puma recently and it's a fantastic car. At 155bhp it's pretty quick and responsive it doesn't handle like a SUV at all and the megabox is amazing. In contrast I now drive a Nissan Qashqai company car (hand me down for the lease) and its boot is only 430 litres compared to the Pumas 450 and unlike the Puma it drives and handles like a P&O ferry!
Love these comparison reviews, and the easy friendly presentation style is brilliant, really entertaining but comprehensive and informative. Two of my favourite motoring journalists - brilliant! As for the cars, like you say it’s hard to find a bad car these days.. For me it’s close but I would go with the Puma - based on the slightly better ride/handling and the practicality in the back!
So we have had a petrol automatic Mokka for 12 months. So the lane control is a pain. Getting in the back is another issue. So kids will be ok but if your an adult you will have issues getting in and out. We have the keyless entry. We have given up on this as it is so temperamental. Then one big issue is when we go to open the car with the key fob. We find the car will not open. The key fob stops working. So we have a trick now to get round this. We have to open and close the boot. Which I am guessing because we have keyless entry it allows us to do this. Then the key fob comes back to life. We can now open the car with the key fob. The car has been back 7 times to the dealer. Still not fixed.
Great review of both cars, if I had my choice I'd have the Ford as it looks better, is more practical and has a proper handbrake which is a nice touch! Having said that both are too expensive for what they are tho' as a second hand buy they'd be better. I'd have happily done without the megabox in the Ford and had a spare wheel instead, tho' I wonder if you could get a spare to fit in that space.
In the video, there is something part-filling the megabox. I am wondering if it is a space saver wheel with a cover over it 🤔. The empty megabox is much deeper than that.
@@carsirelanddotie that's interesting as I wasn't sure if you could get one for it and also one that would fit in there as I'd rather have one than be stuck at the side of the road looking for one as those puncture repair/inflation kits are useless having in the past tried to use one and got nowhere and had to call out the breakdown service as a result.
Originally preferred the mokka but after seeing both these in person ended up ordering the puma st in mean green colour delivery expected sept Oct time, the ford looks much better in person such a beautiful car, was a choice between puma st line X in grey matter colour or the puma st in mean green, so went for green puma st 💚😁👌👍🏴
it's not an automatic, it's a dual clutch, in US even vw only sells crappy dsgs for performance cars (as it should be) and ford has dropped the powershift years ago (still sells that crap in Europe in almost all models)
I rented a brand new Mokka for a week recently. It was fun but I found the steering really tiring. Even after switching off all lane assists etc it would constantly want to pull back to centre. The need to pull the wheel down and keep pulling was very wearing, especially after long drives.
Homo sapiens currently comprises two discrete groups: (1) young 'uns who live and breathe centimetres; and (2) old fogies like me who were brought up in feet and inches. Thank goodness google can convert them for me. It's a good review though.
The Ford Puma is not a bad looking car on the outside just a pity the latest Ford interiors are so dull. Fords best interiors were in the S-Max it was like a space ship sitting in that so spacious and such a great dash with the cool airplane style handbrake, the last mondeo not the current run out Mondeo which has a very dull dash. The C-Max as well as the last Kuga both basically shared the same dash and a great stylish classy dash it was too. Unlike the latest Fords which have all gone very dull. The Opel has a nice dash but looks very dull at the front. Maybe in the metal it looks better. Still I think a Renault Captur is far nicer than either of the two cars here and very reliable too.
Spent a few days with a Mokka Elite Nav Premium with 130bhp. Tech is really good and engine is excellent for a 1.2 litre. Suspension slightly firm but I like that. Good to drive. The negatives are the really small boot space, lack of room in back seats and lack of height in cabin. Also quite a bit of cheap looking plastic in the lower areas of interior. Is the Ford worth the extra money though?
Hard to say, but one thing I would be confident about is the residuals will be better with Ford. Opel are not liked as a brand by the motor trade in Ireland (having experience of trading my Opel Astra for a Puma). One thing that was glossed over a little in the review is the fuel efficiency of the Puma. I'm getting an average of 5.6l/100km at motorway speeds which is pretty good and off the motorway driving on R roads I'm getting 5.0l/100km, the Mokka will struggle to achieve that. The 48v battery also provides some additional torque when accelerating. I do think the Puma is definitely the drivers car of the two, it has a sweet manual gearbox and the steering is superb. Build quality is a problem, mine has rattles as the passenger door is not properly aligned, so they need to up their game in that department and there are lots of reports of the 12V battery failing. Both cars have a timing belt that is submerged in oil and that would worry me in the long term.
Just ordered the mokka gs line manual in full outer black pack without the red accents or red on alloys … looks mean . Looked at Puma but you get more spec as standard on mokka. 👌only prob is expected delivery time 6-8 months 😭
Hello, may I ask if the PUMA you tested is the FROZEN WHITE color please? It looks much whiter on the website. Yours looks a much more interesting white, almost creamy. If that was really the frozen white I would definitely consider it.
Puma is a good looking car but absolute trash if it comes to drivetrain - with petty 1 liter engines and horrible dual clutch transmissions ford has nothing I would buy today. Opel on the other hand, based on psa platforms with all their flaws is miles ahead if it comes to drivetrain. 1.2 engines are much stronger than fords and torque converter automatics are available even in tiny cars like 208 and can be paired with weaker versions of 1.2 so you don't have to go to top spec to get real automatic transmission. For me the winner is obvious in this one.
Wow lol Fords MULTI award winning 1.0 ecoboost and PSA turbo engine (we all know how there’s no issues with those) Not sure you know what you’re talking about. Bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better.
The Puma is too dark inside, too much black.Old-fashioned handbrake. Also has the dreaded rubber camshaft belt.(you have to think of maintenance costs) Chain is best. Also I don't like driving around in a frog.
if i was getting a new car, it would be the new Toyota Yaris Cross as it switches between electric and petrol power seamlessly. It offers lower co2 emissions and improves fuel economy. You can't beat Toyota's excellent reputation for reliability.
I think the Peugeot 2008 is a far better looking car than either of this pair, especially the interior. Sadly the Ford especially has a very dull interior, can’t believe somebody actually designed it…boring.
We do but it is more or less dead as languages go. English became the first language for the majority of Irish in the 19th century but by then Irish was basically extinct as a written language for centuries due to a variety of factors that aren't ideal for explaining in a youtube comment.
If you touch the automatic closing button on the Puma hatch, why would you keep standing there acting perturbed. Just get in the car or walk away whatever you are doing. Geesh!
Yeah but its cramped and dingey and I don't think it will be as efficient as the full electric Mokka. Toyota must think so too or they wouldn't have introduced the Yaris Cross.
There's nothing funky in a mokka trust me. Front is too soft, rear is too hard, esp is just ALWAYS there. Eat8 is great, better than dsg, but at the end. Nope bad car.

I just bought the Puma I had one of the original ones back in the day, so I'm biased, but I have to admit the mokka looks great too.
Great review, informative and enjoyable. Comparison really helpful, great stuff. Mokka for me, but very little in it. Cheers.
Glad it was helpful!
Both nice cars but I prefer the mokka it looks great I'd choose it in electric form in mambo green colour 👌👍
Mokka🎉❤ más calidad
The reason I enjoy watching your videos is partly because I love cars but I also love the chemistry between you two guys.
Glad you like them!
I have opel mokka 2023 i have chosen opel over all car brands
Very beautiful car and very comfortable in everything
The Puma is as significant as model for Ford as the Mk 1 Focus in the late 90s

Great video guys. I’m loving these comparison videos.
much prefer mokka styling over puma

Correct. Our test car did have the optional mini spare wheel in the Megabox, we just didn't get a shot of it on the day.

El mejor es el freno eléctrico

Mokka tiene más calidad y su motor es más eficiente
Great review, thanks. Just a bit of advise, do use a polarize filter with the lens when shooting through the front glass.
Very good test.In my opinion i bought Mokka👍,but Puma it is a good choise.👍
Who’s the guy hiding in the back of the Mokka!🤨🚙
Dexter is back!!!
Just ordered my new mokka sri nav premium 👌 great review 👍
Would live to know what do you think of it.
Me too 👍🏼👍🏼
How is it please
Are still loving your mokka until now?
I prefer the PUMA with 155 cv and automatic transmission.
it's not an automatic, it's a dual clutch, in US even vw only sells crappy dsgs for performance cars (as it should be) and ford has dropped the powershift years ago (still sells that crap in Europe in almost all models)
Motor 999c muy pequeño sus fallos se notarán más rápido
I’ve got a Puma Vignale 155 & it’s the best car I’ve owned by a mile 😊
I rented a brand new Mokka for a week recently. It was fun but I found the steering really tiring. Even after switching off all lane assists etc it would constantly want to pull back to centre. The need to pull the wheel down and keep pulling was very wearing, especially after long drives.
Maybe use your turn signal
Brilliant comparison and helps me to choose the Mokka.
Compre el mokka 🎉❤ va de lujo
Adqueri recentemente um Mokka híbrido e estou satisfeito
What's with this lana assist problem with the mokka can you turn it off
Both nice but Mokka for me, currently driving a Meriva.
The Puma is assembled in my home town of Craiova, Romania 🥰
Thankyou people of Romania! I visited Romania once what a beautiful country!
@RighteousBrother I don't think they're all assembled in one place.
Choosing between Mokka vs Puma. Which one to choose?
FORD PUMA ST 200 HP 👏👏👏👍👍👍 FORD PUMA THE BEST
Homo sapiens currently comprises two discrete groups: (1) young 'uns who live and breathe centimetres; and (2) old fogies like me who were brought up in feet and inches. Thank goodness google can convert them for me. It's a good review though.
Great review. Right information with friendly manner. Well done
I very much enjoy these comparison reviews.
The winner is Puma. Slightly Porschesque 😁👍
It's mad what people will pay to sit slightly higher off the ground then they would in a focus or astra.
@ Conor Devery Wow 😯 it’s so mad that ppl can afford every whim. I’m going to act like I was born yesterday and everything around me is shocking 🤯
It makes a huge difference. You feel like a SUV but with less issues like parking.
Lets be honest, on crappy Irish roads bigger wheels and even 2 inches more of clearance is an advantage.

Take away your spare wheel - call the space where it used to be a Megabox .... and advertise it as a unique feature. Wonderful!
Our test car did actually have the optional mini spare wheel in the megabox, we just didn't get a shot of it on the day.
In time that box will get filled with junk and you end up driving around with more weight, cant see why every review go on on about this mega box
Yeah i would love more choices of these sub compact SUV choices in North America. Too bad that the only fuel efficient hybrid is UX Lexus haha.
Ford PUMA ❤️ for Me
3.30 Sinead reveals the mega box.
Missed your reviews sinead. Love your accent 🙌🏻
Mokka for sure
How about opel mokka and mitsubishi asx 2021? Its same price here
What about a polarised filter for the camera.
Why don't you compare them at unpaved bumpy road?
Spent a few days with a Mokka Elite Nav Premium with 130bhp.
Tech is really good and engine is excellent for a 1.2 litre. Suspension slightly firm but I like that. Good to drive.

@@rossdev good news is that the new puma comes with a chain now.
Ford Frog better name
Good to hear they are both well cars
who is the bloke in the back
We got it and it looks and drives very good…the people just look at it
Really nice review, seems very honest too.
The car is very nice ❤it’s the opel mokka for me 🎉🎉🎉
You might want to try Craig Breen's version puma lol
Just ordered the mokka gs line manual in full outer black pack without the red accents or red on alloys … looks mean . Looked at Puma but you get more spec as standard on mokka. 👌only prob is expected delivery time 6-8 months 😭
Felicidades mokka🎉
The winner is Mokka. It is just better. Puma is a poor Kia or Nissan copy. And Mokka looks like Camaro :D
Puma ❤️
Awesome both
Hello, may I ask if the PUMA you tested is the FROZEN WHITE color please? It looks much whiter on the website. Yours looks a much more interesting white, almost creamy. If that was really the frozen white I would definitely consider it.
No this is Metropolis White Metallic. It’s optional. Not sure if you can still get this
Irish man said " if you can tell me how many pound coins I've got in my pocket , ill give you both of them " .
Its street line not STline the st is an abbreviation for street
Ford👍👍👍
Contraptions?
Love my Mokka e SRI Nav Premium
The elephant in the room here is the shocking price of these. And they are not even electric at that.
That Vauxhall/Opal is very generic in looks could be a Honda Toyota Nissan from the side view will not age well

There is no question in life to which Vauxhall is the answer. Had one when my car was off the road. Utterly boring and devoid of anything pleasurable.
The Puma is too dark inside, too much black.Old-fashioned handbrake. Also has the dreaded rubber camshaft belt.(you have to think of maintenance costs) Chain is best. Also I don't like driving around in a frog.
Mokka all the way. Ford already looks date and old inside. Ford also looks too cute which makes it a girl car.
Opel mokka 🎉❤ fantastic
i will never drive a ford agein with there ecoboost enging it is crap i have the mokka sri nav prem and its a lot better then the crapy ford
Ford puma
if i was getting a new car, it would be the new Toyota Yaris Cross as it switches between electric and petrol power seamlessly. It offers lower co2 emissions and improves fuel economy. You can't beat Toyota's excellent reputation for reliability.

FORD PUMA FOR SURE 💙💙💙💦💦💦
He keeps pronouncing vauxhall wrong
Mokka all the way......... Much better to drive and doesn't look like a Pokemon
Opel mokka💪
I think the Peugeot 2008 is a far better looking car than either of this pair, especially the interior. Sadly the Ford especially has a very dull interior, can’t believe somebody actually designed it…boring.
What about the man sitting behind his driving position?! What a stupid omission for a review.
Don't the Irish have their own language? Why the English?

It's just a joke. Geesh.
Is that how peugeot is pronounced in Ireland 🤣 poozhow
Ford's design looks like a female car and Opel's design is for real men.
The Ford just looks like a creature and the Opel is a cool looking car !
No.
CHR 2.0 Hybrid is way better than both. Looks sexier, drives better, and more efficient. Also, a lot more reliable than these two.
Yeah but its cramped and dingey and I don't think it will be as efficient as the full electric Mokka. Toyota must think so too or they wouldn't have introduced the Yaris Cross.
how can you its a lot more reliable than these when they are new

rubbish review.
Stellantis PSA OPEL 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎
Mokka is so ugly in and outside. Does Peugeot wants to kill Opel? By the way, I have an old mokka and the puma.
Opel/ Vauxhall both crap…… Ford puma all day
