    I had an interesting experience with baptism. I was getting severe sleep paralysis to the point I started worrying about going to sleep and nightmares constantly and I had been a believer for two months after calling on the name of Jesus and feeling a supernatural peace wash over me.
    Leading up to my baptism these night time issues got intense even the night before. My pastor recommended if I was ready to be baptised that it should be done. I was ready and set a date. The night after I was baptised I slept in peace and haven’t had sleep paralysis or nightmares in two years since!!

      I can’t say my experience was this intense, but I left the cult I was raised in, and had cult nightmares for the 16 years since. Then I went to an LCMS, just to see how things were, there. Then I joined.
      No more cult nightmares.

      See Col 2:11,12 which says in baptism we are "circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands" - this suggests, to me, that something supernatural happens in baptism. While the focus of this verse is on freeing from the power of sin, I have also heard of those healed - kind of a bonus birthday present! Praise God.

    The word "appeal" can be translated in several possible ways. Another way is "demand" - that is we can interpret this as the "demand of God" for a clean conscience. Rom 2 tells us that God will judge people using their consciences. When you get baptized, your sins are literally washed away. Therefore, the guilt associated with your sins is also removed. If you have no guilt on your conscience, you can have a clean conscience when you stand before God in judgement.

      Right. I think Peter is saying that the flood waters saved Noah, namely from the wicked world. The flood brought him into a new creation. Of course, the ark allowed him to be carried through the water safely, but baptism doesn’t merely correspond to the ark, but to the waters that kill and make alive.

    an appeal to God for a good conscience sounds like confession and repentance to me. Why would I appeal to God for a good conscience unless I was convicted of sin and desperate for forgiveness? And the fact that this appeal is through the resurrection of Christ seems to point to the fact that this appeal is only possible through the risen Lord who atoned for sins! So it seems that baptism saves because baptism is a whole being expression of repentance and faith in Jesus! I think that in the West we have a hard time understanding this passage because our view of what baptism is is different than Peter's and that of the early church.

    1 Peter 3:21 "....baptism, which now saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ." Rom 6 and Col 2:12 say that baptism "immerses" you into Jesus' resurrection which is what Peter is referring to here in 1 Peter 3:21. And to be "resurrected with Christ" is another way of saying "regenerated" or “born again.” A regenerated person is going to live a righteous life which is attended by a good conscience as Peter mentions here and which will "testify" to God in the final judgement (Rom 2:13-16). Further, baptism washes away past sins (Acts 2:38, 22:16) which also provides for a clean conscience. So, we have complete provision for our conscience - both past sins committed - as well as for the future by living an obedient life going forward. Paul's emphasis is on how baptism saves a person from the power of sin while Peter here is focused on how baptism "births" a righteous person which God will deliver into His eternal kingdom just like Jesus was admitted to God's presence, after His resurrection, because He was righteous.

    that the process of salvation involves the following steps: In order 1-6
    One must be properly taught, and hear (Romans 10:14-17);
    One must believe or have faith (Hebrews 11:6, Mark 16:16);
    One must repent, which means turning from one's former lifestyle and choosing God's ways (Acts 17:30);
    One must confess belief that Jesus is the son of God (Acts 8:36-37);
    One must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38); and
    One must live faithfully as a Christian (1 Peter 2:9).

    Water and Spirit baptism are two parts of the one baptism that saves us. Water baptism is for th red remisdion of sins, which is that thd temple of our body is cleansed spiritually in preparation for the Holy Spirit to occupy it.
    Spirit baptism is the believer recieving the Holy Spirit or the Spirit occupying our cleansed temple.

    So baptism saves or faith? Faith precedes baptism. It is the saving faith of a believers that prompts him to be baptized. Baptism is a beautiful "copy" of what Noah and his family experience. The waters were a judgement. The genuine faith Noah was exercised through his building of the ark. Our saving faith is exercised in the baptism.

    • @hakanuzun8907

      It is not a good work that you perform to merit heaven,as it can not be repeated.With belief comes baptism,why would a believer not get baptised ? What would you think of a person who claims to have been converted yet refuses to get baptised ? Exactly,he would be considered a false professor of faith.As to your "spritual" baptism comment,there is no spiritual baptism.The word in Greek means to wash,it is truly a gratioutus assumption to say this verse is referring to a "spiritual" baptism as the word is washing in Greek and in the earlier verses Peter draws an anology to Noah's Ark,was it a spiritual object ? No.
      Now,the problem with people like you is,you are reading your man made traditions formulated first by Anabaptists into the text of the new Testament,you just need to let the text speak for itself.Show this text to 100 people who have no idea about the controversies about baptism,I would say all of them would come to the conclusion we come to.The number of adherents to a doctrine do not determine the truth but it gives strong evidence,if a vast majority say the same thing,as of 2017 church membership numbers 80 percent of all Christians (1.750 billion people) believe in baptismal regenaration.The other position was a total novelty until the radical wings of the reformation came along,there isnt a single church father who had this view.In light of all of this,for one to assert otherwise is just absurd in my opinion.
      Finally,while there are so many texts in the new Testament that support baptismal regeneration,there is not a single text that says "baptism is just a symbol".The verses are
      Acts 2:38,Matthew 28:19-20,Mark 16:15-16,John 3:3-5,Acts 22:16,Roman's 6:3-4,1 Cor. 12:13,Galatians 3:26-27,Ephesians 5:25-27,Collosians 2:11-13,Titus 3:5 and 1 Peter 3:21.
      If you ask me why the radicals did not believe this in light of all of this,my opinion is that in their environment of rationalism and faithlessness they dismissed every thing they could not believe as false,and as such Anabaptists were condemned by all Christian sects in the world including Luther,Calvin,Easterners,Romans,Church of England etc.

    You make a mistake - the "this" as shown is vs. 3:20 (ASV) . . . wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water: is the water (not the Ark) - It is true that Noah by faith prepared the Ark + That Noah found Grace with God - but you miss the point that God used the water to Save Noah and his family. In the same way God uses the water of Baptism to save believers today. It does not save by the removal of the dirt of the flesh - (it is not a bath) - It saves by the power of God by the resurrection of Jesus. Rom 1 - The gospel (good news) is the POWER of God to save. Rom 6 - by baptism in water we are united with Jesus and the power of his resurrection. The power and work is all God’s. Saying water baptism is a work, it is (but it is a work command by Jesus to unite one with Jesus) - Just a Noah prepared an Ark by faith - one can be baptized by faith in the resurrection of Jesus. I’m sure there was some sweat involved in the “preparing of the Ark by Faith” Believe God’s words - by faith and the grace and power of God - believing in the resurrection of Jesus the Christ - be baptized in water.

      Which of the Two Baptisms is required for salvation?
      Water baptism was a part of the Old Covenant system of ritual washing. The Old Covenant priests had to wash before beginning their service in the temple. When Christ was water baptized by His cousin John in the Jordan River, He was under the Old Covenant system. He also only ate certain foods, as prescribed by the Old Covenant. Christ was water baptized by John and then received the Holy Spirit from heaven. The order is reversed in the New Covenant. A person receives the Holy Spirit upon conversion, and then believers often declare their conversion to their friends and family through a New Covenant water baptism ceremony.
      The conversion process is described below.
      Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
      Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
      (A person must “hear” the Gospel, and “believe” the Gospel, and will then be “sealed” with the Holy Spirit.)
      ============
      Which baptism is a part of the salvation process, based on what the Bible says?
      What did Peter say below?
      Acts 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
      Acts 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
      Based on Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-16, the most important thing about the word "baptize" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to New Covenant believers in Jeremiah 31:34, and John 14:26, and is found fulfilled in Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27. Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word "baptize" in the text.
      Based on the above, what is the one baptism of our faith found in the passage below? How many times is the word "Spirit" found in the passage, and how many times is the word "water" found in the passage?
      Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
      Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
      Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
      Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
      Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, (See 1 Cor. 12:13)
      “baptize” KJV
      Mat_3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
      Mar_1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
      Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Water or Holy Spirit?, See Eph. 1-13.)
      Luk_3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
      Joh_1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
      Joh_1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
      1Co_1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
      1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (See Eph. 4:1-5)
      Heb 9:10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. (Old Covenant - New Covenant)
      How many people have been saved by the Old Covenant water baptism of John the Baptist?
      Who did John the Baptist say is the greatest Baptist that ever lived in Luke 3:16? What kind of New Covenant baptism comes from Christ?
      New Covenant water baptism is a beautiful ceremony which allows new believers to declare their conversion to the whole world.

    Hey Bryan, I was just confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and I’ve always struggled with this verse. If it’s the appeal of a good conscience that saves us in Baptism, how can we baptize infants since well they can’t make an appeal for a good conscience. I know Baptism is what God does for us but I always thought you also needed faith in order for Baptism to save you. We see characters like Simon the sorcerer be baptized, he even believed that Jesus rose from the dead, but he wasn’t saved since he didn’t posses saving faith. I’m just confused and would love some clarification, I’m so happy that I’ve joined the LCMS!

      " how can we baptize infants since well they can’t make an appeal for a good conscience"
      You're onto something there. I've yet to find a New Testament scripture that explicitly states that an infant was ever baptized by anyone in the 1st Century church, while I find numerous instances of believers being baptized for the Remission of Sin. Think about that and then consider how Jesus regards children in the following verses: Matthew 18:1-7; 19:13-14; Luke 18:15-17.

    What about the criminal on the cross? In this verse it says that it is not a physical baptism, it is a spiritual baptism. When the word “But” is used in the bible it is used to show contrast. In this verse it says that it is “not by the removal of dirt (physical baptism in water) BUT as an appeal to God for a good conscience (spiritual baptism of the Holy Spirit).” The appeal to God is trust and obedience to Him. Noah trusted God and he built the arc. That is living faith. Baptism means to clean, however this baptism is not of the physical, this is a baptism of the spiritual.

    There is one baptism which is the baptism of the Holy Ghost (the work of God).
    Which is received by faith (Ephesians 1).
    One baptism, meaning spiritual.
    The water baptism is for good conscience, not salvation. There is a difference in the two. Just as we work for rewards and it is our duty as saved people to work for God, we do it also for the glory of God as well as good conscience. For if we don't, the Holy Ghost will chastise us and make our sin known to us in efforts to sanctify us.
    But that has nothing to do with the salvation of the soul. Good conscience and salvation are not two sides of the same coin.

    But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of THE HOPE THAT IS IN YOU with meekness and fear: ....
    》 "For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?" Romans 8:24 KJV

    》 HEBREWS 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts SPRINKLED FROM AN EVIL CONSCIENCE, and our bodies washed with PURE WATER.
    &
    JOHN 7:37
    In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
    38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of LIVING WATER.
    39 (But THIS spake he OF THE SPIRIT, which they that BELIEVE on him should receive: for the HOLY GHOST WAS NOT YET GIVEN; because that JESUS WAS NOT YET GLORIFIED 《
    1 PETER 3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
    18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but QUICKENED BY THE SPIRIT:
    19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
    20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, WHILE THE ARK WAS A PREPARING, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. (Just as they had to practice WATER baptism and WAIT for the HOLY GHOST baptism to come after Jesus was glorified.)
    21 THE LIKE FIGURE whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (NOT the putting away of the filth OF THE FLESH, but the answer of A GOOD CONSCIENCE toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
    (Baptized IN THE NAME OF JESUS: Being taught of everything concerning Jesus the risen Lord, and of the works of the Father, and the gift of the Holy Ghost. And receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost, the NEW BIRTH unto righteousness; which is unto eternal life.)
    》 HEBREWS 9:8
    The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
    9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, AS PERTAINING TO THE CONSCIENCE;
    10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and DIVERS WASHINGS, and CARNAL ORDINANCES, imposed on them UNTIL THE TIME OF REFORMATION. ......
    .... 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, PURGE YOUR CONSCIENCE from dead works to serve the living God? 《
    Are you getting this? This is the result of studying the bible! You NEED to study to show yourselve approved unto God, rightly dividing the word of truth: knowing which scriptures agree, so that you can properly contend for the truth!!

    First Peter and Matthew are books we can learn from but they were written to the Jews. The Jews were baptised in water. Paul wrote to the gentiles and gentiles can baptise if you want in water as a sign, but you don’t have to to be saved. What you have to receive to be saved is to be baptised in the holy spirit. Jesus didn’t baptise anyone in water and also Paul said he himself didn’t come to baptise anybody.

    • @crossconnector

      Paul never said that. He said that he was thankful he hadn’t baptized any of them except a select few in 1 Corinthians because the church was using who baptized them as a reason to split and Paul didn’t want to be the cause of division in the church. Those he baptized seemed to not be part of the problem so he is thankful they are the only ones who he baptized. You’re drawing a difference between baptism in water and baptism in the Holy Spirit which there was in the start of Acts. The apostles and Cornelius were all baptized in the holt spirit however by the time Paul wrote Ephesians he said there was one baptism. Jesus in John 3 said you must be born again of water AND the Spirit. That means that baptism from the Ephesian letter on was by water and the Spirit

      @@crossconnector There is a big difference between water baptism and baptism in the holy spirit.
      John the baptist came from a little town where they practiced Jewish law of eating certain food and baptising people in baths. So thats why he came to baptise Jesus and then John said “I baptise in water but the one after me will baptise in the holy spirit. Not water.
      Then in the book of John 3 there are no reference to baptism. When Jesus said born from water he was referring to natural berths we all go through when a woman’s water breaks and gives birth.
      He explains it further down when He says born from the flesh.
      Then further in verse 15 he explains again that we are saved if we believe, no baptism in water.
      So when Paul said one baptism he is referring to baptism in the holy spirit.
      When Peter spoke to a group of gentiles they received the were baptised in the holy spirit and received the gifts of speaking in tongs and healing without being water baptised. It was only when the other Jews saw that, that they grabbed them an water baptised them.
      So in conclusion we don’t need to be baptised in water.

      Don’t separate the two.
      The washing of regeneration was believed to be baptism in the early church. Washing was and is associated with “water”.
      The water (washing of regeneration) and the Spirit. Just like Jesus taught, you have to be born of water and the Spirit to enter the kingdom of heaven. (John 3:3).
      Jesus assumed that Nicodemus was supposed to know how to be born again (water and Spirit). Nicodemus knew the Old Testament and Ezekiel 26:24-26 mentions the new covenant: “I will give you a new heart and a new Spirit”(Ez 36:26), and the verse before that says “I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean from all your filthiness” (Ez 36:25).
      Here, we have water and the Spirit. Also a new heart and cleaning from filthiness.
      When Peter preached the first Christian sermon to Jews (Acts 2), these men were seemed to have believed in Peter’s message, they were “cut to the heart” after hearing the Gospel and they asked “what must we do? Pete told them, “repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and you will receive the gift of Holy Spirit” Acts 2:38.
      Ananias told Paul, “what are you waiting for? Arise, be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on His name” (Acts 16)
      It’s all related, right?
      That’s why Peter can say “even baptism doth now SAVE us.. not by cleaning of flesh, butter answer of a good conscience toward God”.
      He who believes and is baptized will be saved (Mark 16:16).
      Believe the Bible.
      God bless you.

    Peter isn't talking about infant baptism, because that didn't even exist when he wrote his epistles. In Mark's gospel, he says that one is forthcoming who will baptise with spirit and fire. The only baptism that can save is the spiritual baptism that comes from Christ. And this is akin to the discussion Jesus had with Nicodemus. You must be born again. Jesus was speaking in spirit and not the physical.

    You skipped an important verse in the passage.
    1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
    =================
    ============
    Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
    Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
    Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
    Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
    Joh_1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
    Joh_1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

    Baptism does not save you. You interpret the scripture wrong probably because you belong to a religious order that says baptism saves you. If baptism saves you then every scripture that tells you to believe and be saved (there are many that do not mention baptism) would also include believe and be baptized but does not. The thief on cross was saved. No baptism. After salvation you should be obedient and be physically baptized, for a good conscience like the scripture says in 1 Peter 3. Saying baptism saves you goes against Jesus Christ. Physical Baptism shows others you believe in the death burial and resurrection. Only your belief in Jesus will save you. The Bible says so.

    I could accept this if it said, "Infant Baptism" now saves you, but it doesn't. To suggest that "Infant Baptism" saves us contradicts the entire theme if the New Testament and minimizes the Gospel. Throughout the entire New Testament, every baptism followed hearing AND believing the Gospel. If "Infant Baptism" saved people, the Apostles could have saved themselves a lot of beatings and gruesome deaths by installing baptism stations outside of town and simply advertised "baptisms-for infants and to guarantee salvation for all," but it doesn't. The correct context of this passage can only be that baptism saves people who hear and believe the Gospel and wish to be baptized. i.e. Phillip and the Eunuch. As soon as Phillip explained the Gospel to the Eunuch, the Eunuch asked to be baptized. This is the same as with the House of Cornelius. They heard and believed the Gospel and were baptized.

      The promise of forgiveness of sins [through repentance and baptism] is for children.

That's why the many different denominations all have their own take... they picked a different scripture for the meaning of faith, baptism, salvation etc.. Lutherans and others get too wrapped up with the word "works". I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I said the sinners prayer. They say because I "did" something, it was unnecessary, as God had already chosen to save me? I don't for a second believe that an infant not baptized goes to hell if it dies shortly after birth OR IN THE WOMB for that matter.

      In fact Lutherans take account of all baptism passages to formulate the doctrine of baptism. As a baptist I would deny what the Bible say about baptism. Have you looked at all the passages ? And Lutherans don’t believe Unbaptized babies go to hell.

      The Greek emphasis for wash away sins in
      Acts 22: 16, is on the calling on the name of the Lord, NO one baptism.
      Here's the Greek.
      Arise and be baptized, because your sins have ALREADY been washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.

      what Greek text are you reading, honestly?
      The only accurate thing you said is that Paul was already “saved” in Acts 9, before being baptized. That doesn’t deny what the text says about baptism: it saves (1 Pet 3:21) also, it forgives sins (Acts 2:38), unites us with Christ (Romans 6), we received Jesus’ circumcision (Col 2), clothes us with Christ (Gal 3) etc.
      Notice what Annaias told Paul, “be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Act 22:16). Wait I thought Paul was already saved, right? Yes, he was as you mentioned in Acts 9, but he still had to wash away his sins according to Scripture, and he did: he was baptized calling of the name of the Lord. All Scripture is true and justification and the forgiveness of sins, isn’t a one thing as the modern evangelical world think (ex Baptist here), but it’s on going. We receive forgiveness by the Word of God and the sacraments as Scripture shows, and by asking God for forgiveness when we pray (see the Lord’s prayer and 1 John 1:9.

      @@Solideogloria00 You are wrong. I have given you the Bible and the Biblical Greek that water baptism doesn't save or wash away sins.
      Peter never said baptism saves, in
      1 Pet 3: 21. He said baptism is a figure, a symbol of salvation, and the Greek Bible text backs Peter up.
      Here's the true Greek facts about
      Acts 2: 38.
      In the Greek there are numbers, person’s subjects and verbs, and they all have to agree to build a doctrine.
      So these are the Greek facts for Acts 2: 38.
      REPENT YE.
      YE is the subject, “Repent is the verb”, they are both, the 2nd person and plural in number.
      Be Baptised every one of you.
      “Every one of you, is the subject, and baptised the verb. They are both the 3rd person and singular in number.
      Remission of sins, are the 2nd person and plural in number.
      And ye shall receive the Holy Ghost.
      “You” is the subject, and “Receive the Holy Ghost” is the verb, these are both the 2nd person and plural in number.
      So we can see that Be baptized doesn’t agree with either “Repent”, Remission of sins or “Receive the Holy Ghost”… So the Greek says it like this.
      Repent for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost… Then you can be baptized in water…. And that’s the way the people would have heard and understood Peter.
      Anyone who knows the Bible will know that water baptism doesn't save, or wash away sins. It'd the blood of Jesus that saves and washes our sins away. And if you were saved, you would know it.

    So the Blood of Jesus did nothing? All we have to do is be Baptized?
    I find it odd that you only use 2 verses to determine your doctrine. 1: Baptism is NOT a requirement for Salvation. John 3:36 " He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." KJV- Believing is required, not Baptism. John 5:24 "“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” KJV Hearing and believing, not Baptism. Baptism is actually a 'work' on our part. Jesus does it all. John 6:47 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” KJV Again, Baptism is NOT Salvific. Was the thief on the cross baptized? Enoch that walked with God? Elijah? No? John 3:15 “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.” KJV John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” KJV Once again, BELIEVE ! Acts 16:31 “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” KJV BELIEVE.
    I could go on and on. People, don't take my word for it, actually pick up your Bible and do your own research. Never rely on one verse to declare a doctrine.

      Well its this simple. We are commanded to be baptized. If you don't get baptized in water as commanded then you are not following Christ. Yes repentance and confession must prelude being baptized. The water a person is baptized in has no magical power. The power comes from Christ and following what he says. So if it commanded for a person to be baptized then its necessary period. Christ healed the leper by telling him to dip in the river jordan 7 times and he would be healed. What if he on dipped twice or 5 times? Do you think he would have been healed. Of course not! A person has to follow ALL of what's commanded. So cherry picking verses won't get anyone to heaven. If you read John 3:16 and ignore other commandments you are fooling yourself. A person is saved by grace through OBEDIENT faith and NOT faith only. All that is commanded is to be followed for a person to receive salvation. The Bible is simple and clear. JUST SIMPLY DO WHAT IT SAYS.
