    Sprinkle, pour, or immersion.
They are all equally valid as long as they are done in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Wait! You are calling the Non-Trinitarian Doctrine, a 'CULT'? The Trinitarian Doctrine is Heresy, my friend!
      Let's read Matthew 28:19:
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"
Jesus commanded baptism IN THE NAME OF. Then, He mentions three TITLES, Father, Son, Holy Ghost!
If you are married, you are a husband. If you have children, you are a Father. If you have parents, you are a Son!
Those are not your NAMES, but your TITLES! Jesus said to be baptized IN THE NAME OF.
Thus, the Father has a name! What is that name?
John 5:43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
Jesus said that He came baring His Father's' NAME'! So what is the name of the Father? It's simple English!
The name of the Father is Jesus! Jesus came in His Father's name!
What is the name of the Holy Ghost?
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The comforter, whom the Father has sent, 'IN MY NAME'! The Father sent the Holy Ghost in the name of Jesus!
      Again, Simple English!
Thus, the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is JESUS! Simple English! Unless you don't understand plain English!
Why must we be submerged under water, like Jesus was submerged under water?
      Matthew 3:13-17
      13) “Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
      14) But John forbad him, saying, ‘I have need to be baptized of thee, and
      comest thou to me?’
      15) And Jesus answering said unto Him, ‘Suffer it to be so now: fo thus it
becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.’ Then he suffered Him.”
In verse 16, we clearly see that Jesus came up OUT of the water. He did not
have water sprinkled on Him, nor did He have water poured on Him.
      16) “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway
      out of the water:
and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove, and ighting upon Him:”
If you had been baptized by having water sprinkled on you, or having water
poured on you, you couldn’t get,
      OUT OFTHE WATER!
wake up, people! The Trinity Doctrine is Heresy! Read Acts 2:38. Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!

When you spoke about the 3000 being baptized with a river or a lake being nearby, made me question all that I have been taught about baptism. Thank you for your teaching on the spirituality and symbolism. It is not the form, but the presence of God being there.

Ok but your independent church is very new. For the last nearly 2000 years there has never been any requirement to be immersed in baptism. Only the very new churches have made this rule. It is a man made doctrine.

Great video! Some would accuse Lutherans of “throwing water” on people to save them. I’d love to see a video about this and how the theology of “once saved always saved” complicates the understanding of a biblical baptism and salvation. A wise woman much younger than myself once said, “Jesus died for my sins over 2000 years ago. I know this is true even though I don’t remember it.” It’s the same with my baptism. I don’t remember being adopted. Yet I am! It wasn’t about me. It was about Gods great love for me. Praise God I was then taught to remain in Him. By the power of the Holy Spirit received in my baptism and the nourishment of it, given to me in his Word and his very body and blood, I can do just that. God be praised!!

    • @run4cmt

Once saved always saved is not Biblical. Look to the story of the parable of the wheat. Some of the seed is spread on thin ground. It springs up but then dies. These are the people that accept the Word, but do not stay in the faith. A faith that is not fed by the Word and praise to God can wither away. We all have free will and can choose to not stay faithful.

Good to know God can work in our hearts inspite of our tendancy to over think at times. I think this is a debate that won't end as church positions seemingly need to be defended; denominational pride lends itself to wanting to be most right.

I appreciate the sentiment that the symbolism of dying and being reborn via immersion is not what is important- I completely agree with that.
But I think it's a bit of a red herring to say that the people who are concerned with the form are only concerned with the symbolism. And that's a dangerous red herring to make. I think what is much more likely true, as this 8s what is true for me, is I'm not much concerned at all with the symbolism of it- but I AM concerned about the mechanics and efficacy of it. The debate is really about whether the form effects the efficacy of the baptism.
Of course I would note that most Christians would believe that's God's grace is not bound by form. But for those of us seeking to know and follow truth it ends up mattering.
Really- if it it's about being buried and reborn with Christ, then immersion is not symbolic. It is LITERAL.
Pouring and sprinkling then are the symbolic forms.
Have you ever been to a restaurant that served a "deconstructed" dish ? Such as a "deconstructed Turkey sandwich" ?
What that would mean is it has all of the ingredients of a Turkey sandwich but not arranged into a sandwich. Which is surely an interesting experience.
But if the Bible calls us to be reborn by making a Turkey sandwich, it may not be good enought to simply have the ingredients on a plate. The proper form would actually matter in reconstructing the, not symbolic but rather literal dish.

I would say immersion is much more preferable, both from the text and early church history, pouring being the back up mode when immersion isn't possible. As laid out in the Didache.
But concerning baptism, thus shall ye baptize. Having first recited all these things, baptize {in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost} in living water. But if thou hast not living water, then baptize in other water; and if thou art not able in cold, then in warm. But if thou hast neither, then pour water on the head thrice in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. But before the baptism let him that baptizeth and him that is baptized fast, and any others also who are able; and thou shalt order him that is baptized to fast a day or two before.

I recently read in a book on the Sacraments by Johan Gerhard, that another reason John the Baptist was called to baptise in the Jordan was in order to fulfil the typology set through Joshua when Israel crossed the Jordan to finally receive the rest of their promised Land. In a similar way the Baptism of John was the crossing of Israel into the Kingdom of Heaven. So, I was thinking, maybe it wasn't just for immersion.

What kind of baptism is a part of the salvation process? What did Peter say below?
Act 11:15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Based on Luke 3:16, and John 1:33, and Acts 11:15-16, the most important thing about the word "baptize" in the New Testament has nothing to do with water. The Holy Spirit is the master teacher promised to New Covenant believers in Jeremiah 31:34, and John 14:26, and is found fulfilled in Ephesians 1:13, and 1 John 2:27. Unfortunately, many modern Christians see water when they read the word "baptize" in the text. Based on the above, what is the one baptism of our faith found in the passage below? How many times is the word "Spirit" found in the passage, and how many times is the word "water" found in the passage?
Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
    Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
    Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
    “baptize” KJV
Mat_3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Mar_1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
Mar_1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Luk_3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
    Joh_1:26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
Joh_1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
1Co_1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

However, I think back and realized that my cousins often baptized each other in the swimming pool when we were kids, saying "I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit." • @wordforever117
      @wordforever117 10 месяцев назад

You can only have one valid baptism. Even if you came back to the original Church founded by Jesus, the Catholic Church, you would not be baptised. You would receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (which Jesus gave first to the Apostles when he sent them out on mission in pairs) and you would be received into the Church and then you would receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist which would complete your journey to Christian Initiation as it is called. It is possible to receive a valid baptism from your cousins in a swimming pool - but under these circumstances the Catholic church would probably recommend a "conditional" baptism - this is a baptism that is only valid if the previous, dubious one is invalid (but you don't know it if it or not)
The different I suppose is that if the conditional baptism is not valid (and you can't possibly know) then although you know you have definitely been baptised....you do not know that all of your sins have been forgiven immediately after a conditional baptism...so you do still have to repent and confess your sins like Jesus taught his disciples after they had been baptised for some time.
All this is just out of curiosity you have been baptised now for sure anyway so happy days!

As long as they did it in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit it’s valid regardless of whether you went all the way under or not.
The Didache is a 1st Century text that was widely used as the first Christian formation and worship manual before the New Testament had been compiled and declared the canon.
It says living (flowing) water by triple immersion is preferable, but if that’s not practical, then the next preference is to triple immerse in still water, if that is not practical, then triple pour or sprinkle in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Simple, direct, and to the point.

It does matter. But not in the way you think.
Some churches believe that tradition is more important the the written word of the bible.
Other churches believe that the written word of the bible is more important than tradition.
Sprinkling falls into the former, while immersion falls into the later.
This is an important distinction because it determines who can be a priest or priestess.
The former is a separate profession, where the later is anyone who is baptized by immersion.
I will be honest, I do not know much about sprinkling. But I know more than most about immersion.
I will connect the dots that God showed me in His book.
First thing to understand is that the old testament is not separate from the new testament. Jesus is the God of the old testament. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is our high priest. And It is clear in Hebrews that the sanctuary built by the direction of God through Moses and the people is a symbol of Jesus body.
Jesus does something peculiar in the last supper. He washes the feet of His disciples.
This is important because when the Hebrew priests went into the tent of the sanctuary, a symbol of Jesus body, they had to wash their hands and feet before entry. And when they first became a priest, their entire body was washed.
Peter tells Jesus that His hands and head should be washed, and not just his feet. Jesus replied that feet is enough.
This is peculiar because by washing someone else's feet, your hands are washed. And if no one washes your feet, Jesus himself will wash your feet.
Understanding that service to others washes your hands, will wash your mind/head. Focus on service to others and ignore service to self.
The understanding back in the time of Jesus was focused on self and the law.
wash my feet and hands before entry into the temple. But Jesus redefines what is known and illuminates the service to others as more important and useful than service to self.
By washing the feet of His disciples, Jesus is telling them that they are priests in His temple/body/tent. And to be a priest of God your entire body should be washed. They accomplished this through immersion baptism.
But biblically speaking, You don't have to do full immersion. A sponge bath baptism would do just fine as well.
The symbol of washing the entire body is important because it connects your knowledge back to the sanctuary.
can you be saved if you were only immersion baptized? Of course you can.
God "winks" at ignorant sin. He doesn't see it. He judges based on what you know, not on legal technicalities.
It is a "sin" because it misses the target.
sprinkle baptism does not teach someone to be a priest or priestess of Jesus.

You did not even talk about Jesus being baptized by John the baptizer, pretty sure that was an important baptism!
“Now John wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him, and they were baptized by him IN the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
    .

“And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went UP from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him..”

It was an important baptism, but Jesus was not the recipient of Christian Baptism (which He hadn't even instituted yet) - he was the recipient of the Baptism of John.
Could you identify where in this text, or any other text of the Bible, immersion (and by this, my baptist friends almost always actually mean 'SUBmersion') is the explicitly defined mode of 'baptizo'. I'd be happy, in exchange, to share the instances where it's communicated through pouring.

Sorry, but I think the practice of to pouring or sprinkling water, especially over babies, and before they are at the age of reason and choosing to repent of their sins & to follow Jesus, is unscriptural & "adding to" the scriptures. While my parents had me "christened" as a baby in the Lutheran Church, when I began reading the scripture for myself & understood what Jesus was explaining what we must do to be saved, I chose to be immersed, but in a different denomination, to follow scripture & his command.

The Didache mentions that various modes are acceptable, but it gives an order of preference. I think we ought to go with what Luther practiced and all the Orthodox churches, which have never changed the form since the beginning. I mean, why change the form from what your predecessor used? What’s the motive? Even in places where water is precious and rare, people take baths. AND, for the sake of unity, and if it doesn’t really matter, then why not immerse? Is it out of stubbornness?

  • @sergeshmash2171

The word baptism means to immerse fully, used of dying a cloth. All instances of baptism in the NT were full immersion. It represents not only the washing and transforming work of the Blood of the Lamb (as in a piece of material that is fully immersed and completely changed) but also symbolises dying, being buried and being born again. There is no other Biblically accurate way of Baptising, and whilst not being baptised by full immersion or any means does not mean you're not saved (baptism is not salvific) it does mean that you are not obeying God's Word but rather following the traditions of man. Infant baptism is meaningless and means nothing. You must 'believe (first) and be baptised".

John 3:5 makes it clear that the baptism Jesus intends is one of water AND the Spirit. This is why Peter proclaims that we receive the Holy Spirit in Baptism (Acts 2:38). Paul calls baptism a washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). It’s an error to dehydrate baptism.
