    Thank you, Chris!! All of a sudden refrigerator was 60 to 65° and I could not figure it out. I just went through these steps and sure enough once I removed that back panel, there was a huge block of ice above the grill and on the fan. You just saved me a every expensive service call of prob $300+ Thank you!! 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍

    @1:55 You don't actually need to pull off that shelf track, just the screws.
    Also, I have a similar fridge with a screw missing on the bottom right side, same as yours. Interesting, a special Samsung feature?
    I agree, I don't recommend this fridge; it looks nice and has bells and whistles but the quality is crap.
    Thanks to your video and videos like yours for the info; otherwise, it would be a nightmare to fix it yourself.

    I have 2 of similar Samsung refrigerators and both have the same problem once a few years and need to take apart the cooling fan cover to defrost. I never have such a problem on Kenmore.

    Just did this today. I bought a defrost booster which I installed that sits right where the ice forms to hopefully avoid having this issue again. This is the 2nd or 3rd time it’s happened to me.

    I needed to see how you removed that back cover. You totally left that step out. Also by putting the unit into forced defrost does it also defrost the freezer?

      @@christinegreen7394 he absolutely did not video taking the panel
      Off. The video literally skips from him showing how to put it in forced defrost to the panel being off. He did not show how he removed the panel. He showed how to remove the screws.

    • @drewcarlisle1
      @drewcarlisle1 10 месяцев назад

      You’re right that he didn’t show the panel being removed. It was stuck on because of the ice build-up in behind the panel. Because he had removed the screws, I’m sure it came off easily once he had defrosted it well enough.

      if its frozen you have to wait for it to defrost or it will feel like its stuck on something. I broke the styrofoam the first time becuase i was like wtf is going on but it was just frozen to the back... remove the 3 screws and thats all you need to do to pull it out@@christinekuznieski3394

  • @izzy3355

    If I just unplug it for a couple of days and let it get to room temp aka defrost will that fix the problem or do I still have to do all of these steps? For the record I had about 2 full buckets of water come out of it when I turned it off. Also I can hear some fans running but the freezer is not cooling... fridge part is 3 degrees off it's target (39 to 36) so I'm guessing that's why I don't notice a difference up there.

    Would it cause the compressor to stop if its frozen?

    Just wondering, if I put the refrigerator in defrost from the panel, how long do I leave it in forced defrost? I really don’t want to have to remove inside panel if I can help it. Thanks

    GE French door refers are designed exactly the same way and they freeze up too

    Does the continued beeping while in “f’d” indicate that it’s defrosting or that it’s trying to start the defroster. Doors are closed and it’s been beeping for about 5min now.

    • @tluanglath
      @tluanglath 6 месяцев назад

      The beeping is letting you know it is defrosting even with doors close it will continue to beep. After about 30 minutes or so the beeping will stop and you will have to repeat the process if it hasn’t fully defrosted.

    Does putting it in DF mode do anything to the freezer below or just the refrigerator

    • @tluanglath
      @tluanglath 6 месяцев назад

      It’s “FD” which I believe is fridge defrost. So freezer is still cooling from what I noticed repairing mine.

    I didn't even know Samsung made fridges. I've had GE (before they sold their major appliance division), Whirlpool and Maytag (before Whirlpool bought them). I need some honest opinions on Samsung and LG reliability.

    • @smezz049

      Samsung sucks! We have a Samsung fridge and it is not reliable, we’ve only had it for a year and it’s already having issues.

    • @rkgsd
      @rkgsd Год назад +2

      @@smezz049 I see what you mean. I went to Lowe's and asked the person in appliances what's the one brand he gets the most customers coming back with complaints about. Bingo! Samsung!

      I purchased a Samsung washer/dryer, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Washer got a dent the 1st day it was delivered. Dishwasher got a dent within a week and died at 5 yrs even though it was $1300 . I would have been better off just buying a $400 GE. The fridge's ice maker stopped working at 8 months but I didn't bother getting it fixed since we didn't use it very much and by online reviews seemed to be a reoccurring problem. Now 10 years later the compressor is started to act up. Overall I have not been pleased with Samsung they seem to have a functional obsolescence built into them. They are not like our Kenmore, Maytag or GE appliances we had before that EASILY lasted 15 -20 yrs+

      Anyone reading this…do not buy Samsung refrigerators. I made the mistake of spending $3000+ on one 3 years ago. It’s already not working. Warranty sucks…it’s only for 1 year. It’s been a nightmare dealing with support. 3 days later, I’m still waiting for someone to come and fix it. Should’ve stuck with Whirlpool. That thing lasted much longer without problems

    • @rkgsd
      @rkgsd Месяц назад

      @@d05wtt I believe it. I wound up asking someone in the appliance department of a Home Depot, "what's the one brand you get the most customer complaints about?" He said Samsung. I wound up with an LG. So far no issues.

    Did all of the fixes in this video but after about 2 months the fan is making noise again. You can tell that it's hitting ice in there. The fridge is still holding temp, but not sure for how long. Anyone else experience this?

      Ive had to do this defrost 3 times this year. Never buying a samsung fridge again.

    • @curcuru11
      @curcuru11 9 месяцев назад

      This time I did take apart the whole component that houses the fridge fan because the air vents going all the way down to the bottom or clogged with ice as well and I think that's why the second time it got clogged so fast

    • @curcuru11
      @curcuru11 6 месяцев назад

      this didnt matter, the whole damn thing froze up again in 2 weeks. I bought a 3rd party heater kit and will install once I get it.

    • @MikePiesco
      @MikePiesco 6 месяцев назад

      I ended up getting a 3rd party heater kit and resealing up everything. I also wrapped a coil of wire around the heater at the bottom and put it in the drain hole to keep it from an ice blockage. A few months and it's been holding temp without any fan noise 🤞
