This is probably the best explanation of a product i've ever seen! Tascam need to pay you a hefty bonus! Every single feature of this desk explained in such an easy to follow, understandable way. Awesome. Off I go to buy one!
This guy rules at explaining
I learned how to do stuff I didn't even know I wanted to do until he showed it to me.
@@bonuscreature When the 24 came out it was advertised (in all intents, and purposes, via unethical sales tactics), as a DAW controller. The 12 isn't even recognized by Studio One.As for the 24, and 16 I lost faith after blowing 1 grand. I called Tascam support, they said it was, Guitar Center said it was. Go watch NAMM when the board wss released
@@bubinga_basher Don't own one, but I have a friend that uses the 16 with Live as an audio interface w/ no issues, but unless there have been firmware updates, only the 12 functions as a controller as well. If you still have it, perhaps another DAW mode setting would work:

@@bonuscreature Thanks. I was told at Sam Ash it was a DAW controller, so I got one. I returned it a couple days later. I'm sure it's good for what it is, but I'll have to go with a Studiolive
Yeah. Absolutely fab presentation!
It's 30 years since I had an analogue desk. Digital is useless - who wants to mess about with menus and mice? Mixing desks, like pianos, are physical musical instruments. I'm sold on this geezer👍

Picked up a 24 a couple weeks ago, played around and did a full band live off the floor recording, and the results are killer!! an awesome unit for sure! LOVE IT!!!!
Hi .. i was thinking of this over the zoom live track 20 .. for my band. We r six of us. Wanted it to record our practices. RUclips videos and most important use it for live shows .
I use reason 10 ..
How is the sound quality for a live band. If you have an experience on this.
Many thanks ..
@@colindias4820 sound quality is pretty awesome. I personally do all my mixing on the board itself, but its easy to drag and drop files to use with a daw.. we use reaper with all the stock plug-ins and like the results. You can totally use the board for a live show, run your monitors, master outs, even Bluetooth your phone in to play the house music in-between sets.. a total workhorse
How many monitor wedges?
Just got my Tascam 24 and just started useing it to record my bands Triple Album. THE TASCAM 24 is GRRRRR GREAT!!!!
Can I hook this up to my turntables
@@laceyadrian54 Phono levels are different than instrument and line level. Unless a mixer has specific phono inputs you would need a phono amp to bring the signal up to line level and then you could use a line level input on a mixer. Just look for mixers with a phono input built in.
Unless your turntable has a level output already of course.
@@secretsquirrel2 Late to the game here, but couldn't he go into the mic preamp for its gain?
@@RAndrewNeal It is not just gain that is needed. Vinyl needs to have a eq applied to sound correct Usually that is a RIAA eq and that occurs at the phono input of a mixer, receiver or phono preamp. A few turntables have a preamp built in and you can use a line level input in that case.
I've owned my model 24 for about a year now and it does an awesome job. I can't believe how much I missed real knobs. A very versatile machine for the price.
I just ordered one of these. Looks awesome. Question for you....the phantom power seems to be an all-or-nothing thing. Do you find that to be a problem?
@@timmcnair6212 As long as you’re not using ribbon microphones it’s not a problem. You can basically leave phantom power on and plug in any condenser, dynamic microphone or line cable without having to worry about damaging them.
@@hanglider thanks! I've had the Model 24 for a few months, and it's absolutely awesome. Can't recommend it enough.
@@hanglider have you used a Shure SM7B with the Model 24? I just got one of those mics, and I think it may need a preamp.
@@timmcnair6212 I only used SM58 which i think work similarly. People usually get a microphone preamp or a ”mic activator” such as cloud lifter to get that clean and crisp sound out of the SM series mics as you can hear in podcasts or pop songs. The direct signal is fine as well when used with drums.
Tascam is really one of the best audio companies out there
Ah! Analogue simplicity and experience without the hassle of tape recorder.
Well done.
Now all we need is built in tape emulation and we’re full circle! |*-*|
They should just make the 388 again and include digital ADDA to your DAW right from the tape.
So happy to see this. I will be ordering next week. I will use this to record but edit on PC and then drop the file back onto the SD card. Much better than dealing with latency and those dreaded clicks and pops.
Just got one of these and it's a beautiful piece of gear. Covers so many bases.
For this price I want 4 band eq plus hi-mid and low-mid extra knobs to adjust the frequencies..
The scribble strip tells you everything you need to know about how fun the Tascam Model 24 is going to be!
This is a WINNER - no scrolling thru digital menus ACTUAL KNOBS and a built in MULTITRACK DEVICE! I have an old Tascam 24 track board that will feed into this = 36 tracks to onboard SD. Will eliminate racks of patchbays and efx gear for UNDER $1000 Holy Sh!t!
Very helpful....just got the Model 16 and applying all that is on this video. Super suppppport!!

Joe is a great man at explaining how to use Tascam recorders... and his patience and knowledge is much appreciated.. I have spoken to Joe about this recorder and my personal thoughts are known to him.... " why did they make a 24 track recorder and give you 16 channels.? how great it would have been if Tascam made a 24 track,,, 24 channel recorder with a 24 channel meter bridge,,, really all they had to do was to reproduce the first 12 channels and make it 24.. add a meter bridge and call it a PRO 24..... I know some of you will rant on about you can use DAW and plug into your computer,, but I dont use a computer for recording,,, I write.. record..mix and release music,,..I hear music..I dont see it,,,, but its nice to see some of you on here are saying they should make a Model 32 ... but please include a meter bridge,,, lets hope Tascam read these comments,,,

what a beautiful product that is
Siiiiick! Can't wait to get one! Would be nice to see some videos of some actual full band recordings.
Looking forward to picking mine up in two weeks.
Why no inserts on all mono channels? That would be the best way to use effects on a per-channel basis. Going through an effect into the mic preamp seems convoluted. What I'd really like is a 32 track recorder/player made to plug into the insert jacks on an analog mixer I already have.
Very nice, but he glossed over the details about the DAW interface. Is there a video going though those features? Thanks.
I've been using my Tascam DP-24SD recorder for about 3 years now and really like it. I wonder how this Model 24 recorder compares to my DP-24SD.
Hello Ira! Glad to hear you like your DP-24SD! While there are some similarities between the two units, they're still completely different beasts. As you know, the DP-24SD is meant to act as a standalone recording device - basically a complete studio setup conveniently packaged into one great piece of gear on your desktop.
The Model 24 has three functions: a standalone multitrack recorder, a complete mixer, and a USB Audio interface. Because it's primary function is threefold, the DP-24SD has a few more features for producing a track start to finish (i.e. the mastering section).
The Model 24 has incredibly clean and transparent preamps, easy-to-use one knob compression, precision EQ's, and more - all in a classic channel strip so many audiophiles are familiar with. The built-in effects processor enhances signal by being able to blend in effects with an aux control. While it's standalone MTR, the premise of being an audio interface and a live/rehearsal mixer adds an extra dimension to the Model 24.
@@TASCAMUSA Thanks for the info. I am 62 years old now and grew up with analog in the 70s. The DP-24SD is a digital recorder if I recall correctly. I do like it very much and have become very proficient at using it and recording my songs. I mainly use Shure SM 57 mics for my guitar recording (using either my Marshall JCM900 or Fender guitar amps(yes, I use real guitar amps and real drums) and other Shure mics for acoustic guitar and I actually use the Sennheiser e902 bass microphone for the bass drum) . Like I said, I'm kinda still stuck in the 70s mod of recording and recorded in some great studios when I was younger that only had analog back then. Digital is not really my thing nor is Protools or using my computer to add tone or effects and as far as interface....no idea what that even is. LOL. I am more into really playing my guitars, basses, percussion (congas, tambourine, shakers...) and the only effect I might use during the mix is tone(bass, treble, mids and reverb here and there.....). I like a more natural sounding recording and not so much enhanced. What's wrong with sounding like yourself?? I have made some great recordings just using the Tascam DP-24SD. But was considering trying the Model 24 recorder. Does the Model 24 still use SD cards and can I still do all the mixing to the SD card just like the DP-24SD? I really only use my computer for making CD copies. I plug the SD card into my computer when I finish mixing and mastering my songs and then can make CD copies easily within minutes. Are CDs obsolete at this point? LOL I am such a dinosaur! LOL
:)
Submixer input, well thought.
nice love the analogue mixer

@@colindias4820 it was pretty smooth as long as you know what you're doing, like setting up the channels in a DAW, running monitors, etc. The hardware and software setup was pretty simple
@@RealAlphaDrumHi. I want to avoid recording simultaneous tracks to an SD card and instead record simultaneous tracks into Pro Tools (or any other DAW). Is this possible?
@@voivodOfficial yes, you can track .wav to an sd card or into a daw. Though daw setup will require the know-how in terms of setting it up. Though you can record direct to the sd then drop the .wav files into your daw multitrack and mix from there.

Hello, I have a question about the model 24… would a patchbay make a difference? Or is it not needed? I’m very new to this. Thanks for your answer.
Hello! A patchbay could be useful in a lot of different situations, however, it isn't a necessity. For example, if you're planning on using a lot of outboard gear (i.e. compressors, preamps, external effects) then yes - a patchbay would make it very easy to connect all that gear to different channels on the fly. But, if you're not planning on going that particular route, then you can connect your mic cables directly to the unit itself.
Do you think its possible to get a firmware update to get the Model 24 to Slave to MTC? I know it now can Master but why not the other way around? Would that not make it easier to sync with DAWs as there is no MIDI Clock
Just got a couple of questions. Does it have a built in click track? Could I use it for reamping?
I can't believe this thing is available for this cost.
Can it plug straight into my computer? Do I still need my Presonus Audiobox in between or can I just plug right in with this?
Hello Rob! You wouldn't need anything in between the Model 24 and your computer other than a USB cable. It's a fully functional USB Audio Interface, which can be plugged directly into your computer and you can start recording or streaming quickly!
Not enough info on the recording side. How long will it recorder & where isit stored (0n th maching or the card thing didn't eplain much of} Can you work on a project save for later and reload it all for future editing etc. more info. on recorder end please
Any plans of making a Model 32? that would be great, and if you could add 3 subgroups that really would help.
I just bought this mixer for a live stage application. The only thing that worries me is that every time the guy touches the knobs with his finger, I can see it wiggling left to right or up and down. I'm a little worried that these are flimsy knobs that won't stand up.
The knobs are pretty sturdy and they don't require a lot of torque to get them to move. Personally, mine travels all over with me and gets used at both live events, the rehearsal space, and in my home recording studio. The knobs have withstood the test of time and travel and keep on going!
Hi..
Was trying to get one for my band for live and recordings on RUclips and r streaming
How has the model 24 been for you. .
Thanks
So are the channel EQs only pre-fader, like the Soundcraft MTK 22?
Or do the channel EQs affect the signal in post-fader as well?
Also, only two mono aux? If I wanted to use an outboard compressor, would I need to dedicate one aux for left and the other for right channels in order to send stereo feed to the comp from the aux sends?
Soundcraft are insane for not putting inserts into each channel...
Can you add effects to the aux ? So performer can hear the reverb, compression on their vocal in ear ?
You say you can use the graphic EQ for the main mix of a track to the sd card, it doesn’t effect your head phone mix or control room mix so how would you do this, would u have to mix using the main outs, cheers
Does it work with reason 10 .. studio one .. Ableton ..
Thanks ..
Hello Colin! Yes, the Model 24 works with all DAW's available on the market.
I have a dp-03 which I use everyday, especially the mastering function. I have a UA LA610MKII and a Warm Bus Comp. Thinking of using the 610 at the start of the chain into the Model24. Is it possible to sidechain the Bus Comp into the Model24 to print the mix onto the Dp-03 for mastering? Trying my best not to use a computer and go DAWless.
Hello Ivan! Yes, you could definitely do that. Run the output from the Model 24 to the bus comp, then run that signal into the DP-03 would definitely get the job done. Just watch those gain levels so you don't accidentally distort the signal while bouncing!
Can you use the blue tooth capability for interviews for a podcast? So the caller can hear in studio guest and vice versa? I am looking for a good live stream podcast mixer that allows for a phone connection for call in interviews.
Hello! You should look into the TASCAM Mixcast 4 - it's been created with podcasters in mind and does everything you've just described.
Hello, on this table Tascam model 24 can you mic the drums with dynamic mics and condenser mics at the same time to be able to make a live recording?
Hello Rubinho Jack! Yes, you can used dynamics and condensers at the same time.
One of the things that struck me and dislikes me is that the potentiometer knobs wiggle at the moment you touched them. Clearly seen at 3:05 and 11:06.
This means cheap quality potmeters. When knobs are wiggle, mean they will wear out faster. High quality potential meters are tight and don't wiggle.
Not completely true - what it means is that that the pots are not nutted down on the top panel. The quality of the potentiometers used are very good audio pots. It was a matter of controlling cost to not use top and bottom mounted nuts
@@JoeStopkaMusic In that case it's still not the best. When pots are not mounted on the top panel and can wiggle, they can worn out faster. Besides that, the pots are soldered on the print and when they are not mounted on the top panel.. you will balast the print and solder point more. I have enough experience with these problems. You have to handle extra more careful with these kind of constructions!
@@jerrykooyman that is a matter of opinion, there are hundreds of mixers without top nutted pots. We have made and sold thousands of these without any potentiometer failures
@@Alongfortheride693 I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed this.

I noticed the Model 16/24 do not have a DAW controller function like the Model 12? is there a plan to have one in the future? I love my Model 12 but I need a 16/24 with Controller abilities like the 12
The Model 12 is a digital mixer, so it has the capability to act as a control surface. The 16 and 24 are analog mixers so they are not able to be control surfaces
@@TASCAMUSA sorry if the question sounds obvious but when you say the model 12 is a digital mixer it means the eq and comp are digital and not analog? does the 16 and 24 eq and comps work different? 16 and 24 are analog circuit and 12 are digital processing?
@@arthurreckelberg6578 Yes, the Model 12 is completely digital so the compressors and EQ are digital, whereas the Model 16 and 24 are all analog circuitry
@@TASCAMUSA thats such a important information. thank you! of course I have the digital recorder but if I want to go, for example on the studio, full analog with the reocording and master tape, it's good that the eq and comp are analog as well! @tascam
I wonder if there is a surface control to control the daw while your multitracking live into protools or logic? If it does , seriously a gem.
Also!!was wondering if I can connect outboard gear like a neve summing into this and or expand this with other interface to expand inputs like spidif ?
Hello Phinestro Robert! The Model 12 acts as a DAW Controller and can be used as such while the Model 24 is connected to your computer as a USB audio interface.
Yes - you can connect outboard gear to the Model 24. Some of the inputs have an insert on them, or you can route it into any open channel. Send from the sub output or any of the auxes and then route the signal back into your system!
Other interfaces can also be used for expansion, not directly into the Model 24, but it's possible. If you're using a Mac, you can set up an aggregate audio device in the AUDIO/MIDI set up in the "Other" folder in the Launchpad. This can't be done natively on a Windows machine, but third party software can be installed that will allow you to do the same thing.
@@TASCAMUSA Does the PCB have places for insert jacks on the rest of the mono channels? I may be interested in modding my own unit to get the most out of it. I'm on the fence of buying one, and the insert jacks are a reason why I haven't decided on it yet.
Does this have phantom power for condenser mics?
Yes it does!
Would love to buy one but I’m looking at other options because they aren’t in stock anywhere. I had one on back order but the date there were supposed to be in got pushed back. Same thing happened with the Motu m4, ended up buying an SSL 2+ because apparently they couldn’t keep up with demand either.

HEY! super important question! Are the inputs ASSIGNABLE to tracks, or is XLR Input 1 ONLY able to go to Track 1?
say I have a Microphone plugged into input 8, and I record a vocal track to 8. Now do I have to unplug the mic from 8 and put it in input 9 to record on Track 9, or is it possible to assign Input 8 to recording Track 9?
All the inputs on the Model 24 are tied to their respective channels. So, input one goes to channel one and so on.
@@TASCAMUSA NICE. That's actually HUGE. Do you see adding that function, much exactly like the way the DP-03SD works? Seeing as the display is almost the same, id think adding the function could be "easy" for y'all. I actually almost sold my DP-24 assuming the Model 24 would have the assign function... phew!
@@totalSLACK To be honest, probably not. That would require a whole new product. This is because the Model 24 is an analog mixer and it was designed with the inputs tying directly to their respective channels.

As of now many devices come with Bluethooth 5.0
Hence, It is advisable to upgrade this Bluethooth 4.0 to 5,0.
Because it has many advantages over Bluethooth 4.0
Can you upgrade Tascam Model 24 with Bluethooth 5.0 and release the product to market.?
I am playing with the mixer like usb interface, but my recordings are low. It is mandatory to add gain about 70% for "normal" recordings. I remember with other usb interfaces dedicated that scenario was not needed. Why do you think about this scenario?
Thanks
Recommended buffer size when using it as an interface in pro tools?
A lot depends on your system and how many plugins you have loaded onto tracks.
During recording a lower buffer size is recommended, while a higher buffer size is good for mixing.
There's not really a one-size-fits-all answer, but start moderately low for tracking and adjust accordingly.
The screen is very small Is there any way you can see your tracks on a computer screen
can it link with logic or pro tools ?
Hello! Yes, if you are using the Model 24 as a USB audio interface, the waveforms will appear in your DAW. The Model 24 does not offer the option to see waveforms on the built-in screen.
If you record in your DAW, can you go up to 24 bit 192KHz? Also, any latency problems? Is phantom power all or nothing?
The Model 24 only goes up to 48 kHz/24 bit. You can monitor the inputs directly so there shouldn't be any latency issues. The phantom power supplies to all channels
thank you
Can I use the Bluetooth channel as PEM (Personal Ear Monitor) so the band can use their own phone and use it as their own ear monitors?
The bluetooth is only for receiving signal from a bluetooth device like streaming songs from your phone/tablet
Hi, what to do if I want to record tracks whole? Tascam is starting recording when detect input signal, how to record whole track including silence?
Can you print the board eq? Or is it just a headphone reference eq?
EQ can printed during mix down on the Model 24.
Nice demo!
Here is another good setup scenario- if you have some outboard gear- in my case I do- hardware reverbs and other processing. Use fx out-Jack -mono send-disable internal effects- fx out Jack goes to your headphones distribution amp- I use a beringhear-and use a hardware reverb for it for talent-then I use Mon-1 and 2- sends to feed a stereo hardware effect chain in my case I run in series to a compressor-a saturation and widening unit and then into an aphex model 204-and return the stereo feed to channel 19/20-set to live input for a parallel type mix.
For my hardware reverb send I use the ‘sub-out’ on a per channel need-engage it on any track you want hardware reverb-it sends to the stereo sub out fader and jacks-I use the Bluetooth channel as the reverb return. Any Mix of verb to dry can be done on the reverb unit itself. In my case I have 3 hardware reverbs- I run the stereo out to (2) passive splitters 2 in 4 out by galaxy audio-39 bucks each-then feed each hardware reverbs inputs separately-at the split- the re combine them to stereo for the return to Tascam using a Radial KeyLargo keyboard mixer-this way you have control of each reverbs volume- to create a dense exciting multiple reverb stereo return or turn any of them out of the mix. To taste,
It only eats up 2 stereo returns leaving 18 open tracks 12 mono-3 stereo-which in a traditional situation w/ perhaps some ‘bouncing of tracks’ should be plenty. Hell most hit records pre 1980 were 16 to 24 tracks period-and 8 track in the early 70’s and backwards.
Any outboard gear can be used-it’s the -routing- I have that makes the Tascam Model 24 in my case very usable and flexible as a standalone mix-record setup- In my case I have an RME BabyFace Pro FS-interface and an iPad Pro-I run my Mains Outs to the BabyFace as my two track master mix recorder so I do all final mastering inside an pad daw-I use Auria Pro with some plugins for sweetening as needed-if needed-and then export via audio share app to Postive Grids Final Touch App. Then save that mix in my desired format via that app.
To TASCAM OFFICIAL: I have been using your DP-24SD recorder for the past 3 years now and was wondering if I upgrade to this Model 24 recorder, can I plug my SD cards that I used to record previously from your DP-24SD recorder into the new Model 24 recorder? Would those SD cards be compatible with the Model 24? Would I still be able to go back and edit and overdub on those previously recorder SD cards, or would I have to use all new SD cards and record all new songs using the Model 24 recorder and not be able to use the previously used SD cards?
So the SMPTE is only through USB? Does this mean no signal is going through the channels ? I wanted to use a Midiman Syncman or Philip Rees TS1 for syncing to MIDI but if its only usb they wont work. I had such high hopes for this mixer but as time goes on its turning into a huge paperweight..
They always turn out to be less than stellar. It's quite simply because the companies refuse to listen to what the customer wants and just keep on doing the same thing over and over again. I mean how many times have they been told that we want to be able to 'print' the eq etc to daw on each channel as it's being sent via usb ? How many times ?? HOW MANY TIMES ??? They don't listen and they don't care and they keep putting out the same inadequate thing over and over with the same mistakes and lack of development. How many times have we told them we need a monitor out so we can actually see the screen properly ? HOW MANY TIMES ??? They don't listen. SMPTE via bnc for compatibility with the rest of the world should be obvious ! You can ask, but they won't listen.
How many simultaneous tracks can I record into a Pro Tools session. I don't want to record into an SD card.
Hello! Every channel on the board can be tracked directly into Pro Tools - all 22.
@@TASCAMUSA Perfect. Thank you! All I see out there is the emphasis on being able to multitrack into an SD card and then transferring the files into a Pro Tools session. I just want to multitrack (i.e. drums) into Pro Tools.

Is there a Punch In/out input for a pedal / switch ?
Yes
hi! considering to buy this one, but i'm a bit confused about auxes. how can i use my own external fx devices or guitar pedals? and there is only one aux knob for each channel. at the moment i have only soundcraft epm6, it has two aux in/out and it's possible to send two different fx to each channel, even to send one fx to other's channel for modulating it. down side is i have to use seperate channel for each aux fx. so, what's possible on model24?
channels one and two have insert jacks so you can get a breakout cable to your fx pedals and back. plus mon 1 and 2 outs can be used as (mono) fx sends.
@@GoodAfternoonDave !thanks a lot. now i see it is pretty intuitive and simple :)
Hi, I've got 3 questions:
1) Are the monitor & fx sends pre or post fader?
2) Are the monitor & fx send connectors mono or stereo?
3) Is it possible to use the XLR and the TRS inputs of a channel both simultaneosly? Or is it one or the other? How about the stereo channels?
Thanks in advance!
1. Mon 1 and Mon 2 are pre fader, the FX out is post fader.
2. The monitor and FX outs are mono.
3. You could only use one or the other, when you plug in an XLR connection it significantly lowers the signal from the 1/4 inch input.
So you have stopped comments on your other videos ... why no VAMP or Click on the Model 24? Seems the Model 12 gets everything while 24 just is an after thought
Hello Mr Feenix! All the official TASCAM videos still have comments turned on - those will never be disabled.
The Model 12 is a digital mixer with analog preamps while the Models 16 & 24 are analog mixers with the digital point being at the USB send. With that being said, there's no way for us to add VAMP to the 16 or the 24. Sure, these products are all in the same series, but the 12 and the 16/24 are vastly different products.
@@TASCAMUSA sorry i didn't realise TASCAM channel wasn't anything to do with you with comments turned off quite confusing . I suppose the best thing for me to do is sell the model 24 and buy a model 12 . Wish you had just made bigger versions of the model 12 .Thanks for the reply
Hi thank you you for your video. Can i used cubase 5 with the tascam model 12?
The Model 12 works well with Cubase
Yeah, but it's never really the number of tracks they say. I bought the Model 12 and I get 6 mono, 7/8 as a stereo pair, 9/10 as a stereo pair, and 11/12 as 'invisible' mixdown tracks. There are 8 XLR mic inputs, not 12.
The Model 24? I just counted them. I could have 16 XLR mic inputs at a time, nowhere near 24.
For a customer who only needs it for the XLR or those combined XLR/TRS inputs, it's a little disheartening.
I don't want to say it's misleading, but it is kind of misleading.
how so, the model naming scheme follows all others, as in TOTAL channels, the signature mtk 22 has only 14 xlr input channels, so same deal.
On the other hands QSC is pretty honest and straightforward. When they say "TouchMix-16", it really means 16 XLR channels.
Hi, What multitrack signal does the DAW receive? Is it post fader and post EQ? IE can you print your mix in multitrack form with your mixer channel tweaks intact? (same for model 16?)
The individual channel USB sends are post gain and compressor. You can also record the Main output over USB by setting up a track within your DAW and have it listen to input 23/24 for the Model 24 or 15/16 for the Model 16
@@TASCAMUSA Thanks!
No one ever explains how to get your final mix to another computer that houses you song library...Do you just pull the SD card, take it to a computer with an SD card reader and upload it that way? Seems important, if you're using the M24 as a stand-alone system. Is there a way to put the final mix on a USB stick, then take it to another computer? I'm no computer guy, spent 30 years in the analog recording biz, so this is challenging me...Disclaimer: I'm not a complete idiot - I learned how to use ProTools very quickly, seemed quite intuitive. Any comments or suggestions on the 24 would be welcome.
Hello MrThunder! You have a few options for transferring your mix to a computer:
1.) Remove the SD card and place it in a computer with an SD card reader (or use an SD to USB adapter), or
2.) Connect the Model 24 to a computer via USB cable and transfer the mix (or any other files from the Model 24) that way. If you have a computer or laptop within close proximity to the Model 24 this is probably the easiest way.
@@TASCAMUSA Thanks, appreciate the reply!
Eu posso usar o pré de uma entrada, processar o audio no pc e depois, no mesmo canal, enviar ele. Um conceito de mesa de digital, só que no caso o PC faria a equalizaçã, compressão e etc....
How do you solo a track while mixing???
Hello! On the very bottom of each channel is a button labeled PFL. This is effectively the solo button. Also, PFL stands for Pre Fader Level - so, you'll be monitoring everything on that channel before the audio hits the fader (so you won't be able to make level/volume adjustments which listening in PFL). In the master section, just above the MON 1 fader is the PFL/AFL master level knob. After engaging the PFL button on the channel, you can change the volume of the signal you're monitoring with the PFL/AFL master knob.
I'm near novice - old Portastudio cassette recorder way back, Coated MR78 more recently. This will record, correct? So why would I sent tracks to a computer / software recorder?
The Model 24 does record to an SD card. You would transfer your recordings to a computer to email to friends, upload to RUclips or Facebook.
I'm John I have the model 24. Just starting with this mixer. I have a question about gain.
How do you set the gain of a channel. Press PFL but i do not see on the mix any reaction on the meters (no green/yellow/red) sohow to do it right?
Customer Support would be happy to assist. You can send them an email at custser@teac.com
Tascam - The switch between live, usb and card doesn’t make it clear but are you able to record to the card while live tracking a DAW via usb at the same time? I’m doing some live recordings via usb now but would love to have an SD recording as a backup.
Yes, you can record to your DAW and the SD card at the same time
Little question?
Can you tell me if the EQ settings are saved in the recording or can you have the sound without adjustment?
THANK YOU
yes..
Can you use this as a soundboard for live shows and record the performance at the same time?
Yes you can
TASCAMUSA awesome, where would I be able to hookup a poweramp?
@@robsalsich8278 you can connect your speaker system to the Main outs
Can I use it for live sound outdoor?
Hello gck! Yes, the Model 24 is great for live outdoor sound!
Can I buy I from Amazon in India?
@@gck791 Yes, I believe TASCAM has an official Amazon store in your region.
What is the price?
@@gck791 I'm not 100% positive on the price in your region, you'll have to get on Amazon and check.
Great demo. One question though: Will EQ and FX by default be printed to the stereo master/mixdown file?
The EQ and effects will be recorded to the stereo mix recording
@Fifty Cycle NO - the DAW and the Multi-track only get the Mic Pre and the Comp. The EQ is used for Mixdown on the console but recorded on the L/.R Master - tracks 23 and 24.
@@JoeStopkaMusic I wish these mixers would include the EQ when recording.
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios it's odd, ideally should control DAW's to like the model 12 can.
Can I take said sd card and pull it out of the unit, plug it into my computer then access the files in my d.a.w.?
Yes you can
I love the looks and it ticks a lot of boxes for me, but I don't need headphone/monitor mixes, and instead would absolutely need post fader effect sends. Maybe I am wrong, but wouldn't it have been trivial to add an option (switch, dip-switch, firmware) to use the monitor subs as aux/effect sends instead? If I understand this thing correctly, I only have one effects send, and that either goes to the built-in effects or one can override this with an external device, correct?
It has 2 Auxes that can be used as effects sends and one FX send that feeds the internal effects or an external effect
@@TASCAMUSA are you talking about the monitors? Because they are pre-fader. Or did I miss something?!
@@fablesofsilence The Aux/Mon outs are pre fader, that is correct
@@TASCAMUSA thanks. Can this be modded?
the only thing that holds me back from going with this board over its competitor the zoom Live Trak L, is the zooms multiple headphone outs, is there a way to provide each band member a custom headphone mix using what's available or another piece of gear?
You can use the Aux outs and Sub puts to connect to a headphone distribution amp
None of these tutorials seem to answer the simple questions. Can you record the unprocessed (direct out signals) at the same time as using the effects out front of house? Thsnks in advance to anyone who might know this information.
Hello! Great question - in short, yes. The FX return is sent to the MAIN MIX L/R and MON OUTPUT 1/2 buses. The individual channels will be recorded without effects processing.
I have an focusrite Scarlett can i connect this mixer to it
Yes, you can connect the mixer to your interface. However, the Model 24 is also a USB audio interface which gives you more channels than any existing product in the Scarlett line.
Is there anyway to print the effects to a DAW? Is there a way to route the output of the built-in stereo effect onto a stereo channel so to be able to record the effect in your DAW?
The effect on the Model 24 is it's own channel so there isn't a way to send the effect and the individual channel to the DAW. You could record the Main output by creating a track within your DAW and have that track listening to input 23/24 ( which the main mix) but that will capture any channels sent to the Main, including the effect.
Should I get the 16 or 24? Only 100$ difference.. Does 24 have more features other then track?
it also has smaller faders
More inputs, mic pres, compressors on the Model 24. Faders are smaller on the Model 16 but it's rack mountable where as the Model 24 is not. Very similar Models. Comes down to size and how many inputs you would like!
TASCAMUSA that’s what she said
Does it function as a normal mixer for live play also?
Andre Shephard yes
how do you insert a PEDAL on the EFX ? can't seem to figure it out even with SPLITTER CABLE....
