  • I KNEW I WOULD FIND SOME LOST TREASURES AT LOW TIDE!!
    Neck Gaiter Gifts/Jigs/Tackle/Hats and More! www.fishermanslife.net
    Went to the beach at a very low -1.5 tide and foraged the coastline for some buried treasure. Sometimes the items were not even buried! Went home with over $100 worth of goodies!

      Use a shock leader - a short length of 60lb line long enough to go from your end tackle to 3 or 4 turns on your reel. Use an Albright knot to go through the rod rings. This is standard/ common practice in the UK.

    • @25is27
      @25is27 3 года назад +1

      @@HarleyRog Roger..You beat me to it. As I am sure you know, the standard rule of thumb is: 10Lb breaking strain of leader for every ounce cast. I use a fairly strong off the ground cast when I can and always 60Lb leader for 5-6 oz lead and small bait. I do get away with 30Lb for lobbing 3oz and a mackerel head for bass with a lighter Rod but its a gentle cast.

      I don't care who's snares he's picking up I'm just glad he knows there where they are and to get them. And the glass trash, that one was very unpredictable looking as far as a barefoot walker. I use to do snorkeling at low tide on shallow reefs, the water at most would be two meters deep, however you could wade waist deep most of the time. Regularly found fishing lures, mostly though just fishing tackle (sinkers, swivels, hooks and line). Always felt good to be cleaning the reef up. On some rare trips I'd find a reef anchor with chain/rope twisted around the coral, so the boats have had to cut it loose, great score to sell. Even use to find the occasional sand anchor *facepalm*. Just a note, lower an anchor down on reefs, don't throw them out, a lot less likely to get snagged, well this is what I have found from experience. One really good thing though was finding fish traps, these were designed to catch smaller fish. While there are small reef fish these traps didn't differentiate between them and the fish which would grow up, cod, parrot fish etc. So I would free any fish (dead or alive) and remove the traps. Talking to people the little fish were great to make fish soup since the small bones use to break down during cooking. All well and good but they didn't seem to care that they were killing off the spawn thereby cutting the ecosystem of the reef at the start, le sigh.

    I make crab snares made of trimmer line, all of the crimps were done by heating the trimmer line with a lighter to create a tight noose. No crimps just trimmer line. Thanks fisherman's life for the foraging tip. Always great content Matt
