Good tip...fold the iron-on to match with the center line on the t-shirt for perfect positioning. 👌🏾
Great to know! The 100% polyester tops are more expensive than the cotton plus I like cotton better. It breathes. Thanks for sharing!
This is one of the easiest to follow tutorials, as well as high quality and very nicely done! Thank you so much!!!!😍🤗
Oh that turned out awesome!! 🥰 thanks for experimenting for all of us!!
This works only in white garments? What happens if the images has white and the garment is black?
Use a white htv that u can sublimate on...do it this same way
Watch dalondas version of this video. She explains how to use clear HTV on a black shirt video. It's great!
ruclips.net/video/ke72TNCttCo/видео.html
This sounds a lot easier then using the spray stuff they out. I can’t wait to try it. Thank you
Thank you Lorrie
As always your videos are simple and to the point 😊
Beautiful!! I got the Thermo Flex frost specifically for this. Heat Transfer Warehouse had a video doing this but I think it's been removed. So, thank you very much for all the instructions!! Love your design!!
🧜♀️💗🧜♀️💗🧜♀️💗🧜♀️💗🧜♀️
It has not been removed, it lives on our Instagram page. We are planning a RUclips video soon!!! instagram.com/tv/CSKpPuKI6LX/?
@@HeatTransferWarehouse OMG, that is so wonderful!!! I didn't think to look at Instagram. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
👏👍💗🌸👏👍💗🌸👏👍💗🌸
I’m REALLY excited now about beginning to sublimate✅💯
Great video Lorrie, I have a question. Could you put four short strips of heat tape down to border the HTV, so that it would be easier to line up the sublimation piece on top?
Have you tried washing the garment? How well did the colour stay after you washed it?
Anyone knows how many washes this vinyl stay perfect without detaching from the fabric? And also how many washes the colors stay vibrant?
so far it’s not washed out.
Questions, is this flexible because most cotton has a stretch. Is it stiff and thick feeling meaning it will be horrible on tiny baby onesies/rompers?
Thanks for sharing your videos which are so helpful. How do you prevent sewing on the backside of the hat when sewing on the front?
Where did you get your cart? Love it and I purchased the same printer but I really like how organized the cart looks. Thank for the info you can give me...
you have to have the termoflex to do this?
very nice. you have to have 2 tecnics.
Thanks for the info! I just bought some and in white too for dark colors!
Just found out from the Instagram video that it does not work on the white ThermoFlex HTV for dark colors. Bummer. But you can put the clear ThermoFlex HTV on top of the white and then sublimate. Cant wait to try it all. Still waiting for my order.
@@heartstrings1223 can you explain why not? I would expect that if you have that white background, any color should be able to sit on it, specially if both were cut the same. I don't understand the need for adding clear on dark colors.
@@TomasQ the White does not have the proper coating to accept the ink like the clear. This was quite awhile ago. Check with the company to see if they have new products that may be suitable for dark colors.
Great video! And short I love that! Lots of good info🤗
Thank you for this video. You’re always so informative.
So is the picture still infused into the shirt this way or is it sitting on top of the shirt like normal htv? TY
Great to know. Thank you for sharing...love your design
Can you show us a video of you printing on the sublimation htv?
Simple and clear. Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial!!! Game changer, how did it wash? Have a great day Lorrie 😊
We tried this and have put it through the wash a handful of times and haven't noticed any fading. It still looks great.
Wonderful, so glad to hear!!!
what does it feel like? I really like sublimation because you can not feel the transfer... is it comparable to a dark t-shirt transfer?
Thank you for the video :)
I came here for this comment as well!
It feels like a thin vinyl. Sort of like a screen print. I've tried it a couple times. It's ok.. definitely be careful with pressure. The paper will stick
Looks great. This is a great option
great tutorial! Excited to try it. I love the stand where you have your press and printer on. Do you mind sharing where you bought it from? TIA
Did you mirror the image in Design Space or did you mirror the image in the printer setting? Great video Lori! I love all your videos.
I only cut the image in Design Space which I did not mirror. I didn’t use Design Space to print my image because I use the Sawgrass Printer software to print sublimation designs but if I were to print from Design Space I would mirror the image that was printing.
@@LorrieNunemaker , I’m sorry, not clear if you would mirror the image in Design Space or not mirror in DS? If you don’t mirror in DS, then you would mirror in the printer settings? Thanks Lorie!
@@beckyvigil8276 the printed image needs to be mirrored. Where you decide to mirror it is up to you. Either mirror in design space or mirror in the printer settings. Don’t mirror in both
@@LorrieNunemaker , perfect - that is what I was not understanding. Thanks for the clarification.
I just watched this for the first time. How does it feel afterwards. Would it work for a onesie or would or be stiff
Question: which side goes down on matte to cut
Need to know this to
Shiny side down is what I’m catching on
Video was very helpful. W
here did you get the table that youe heat press ad printer is on.
Thank you for posting Diane. I found it useful. What type of cart are you using for your SG and press? It looks nice and compact.
So you know how many washes it will last?
I had a devil of a time separating the transfer paper. I tried different heat/time setting, but it still took several minutes. The whole sheet wanted to come up.
Thank you for this information. I love your craft area. Would you share where you purchased your table that holds your heat press and printer? I love it and think I might need one.
@lorrie nunemaker 🤔🤔🤔🤔💜💜💜💜💜💜
Great Video, Thank You!! I feel confident to use mine now 😏
I love this
does the white vinyl on black work as well? i need something that will be vivid on a black shirt. thanks!
Hi Lorrie! Where did you get the cart your press and printer sit on?
What side are you using to cut and what side lay in the shirt to press it down. It's hard to tell because it's clear
Thanks for the video! Do you have a video showing how you cut out the thermoflex....did you upload the same pic you sublimated into design space and simply cut it?
Assuming since Infusible Ink is so similar to sublimation.
That this would work great for using Infusible Ink as well?
Glad you asked, because it's my question too. Also about how it stood up after washing.
Can you tell me where you purchased your table from? The one with your heat press.
Can you sublimate onto the vinyl, then press it onto the shirt?
I wish you would have done that on a colored shirt. How did you cut it to fit your design?
What washer setting should I put my washer on when washing a t-shirt with the same transfer method as you shown in this video
Thanks, Lorrie. Just getting into sublimation so I'm a little late seeing your video. Question - how does this differ from something like June Tailor's tee shirt transfer? (Could be cheaper - June Tailor costs about $1/sheet.)
Does the Sublimation ink dull or fade when it's washed?
That is amazing. Would it work on dark shirts?
Since sublimation is more of a transparent ink you will need to stick with normal sublimation rules and it wouldn't be very visible on dark shirts.
No but white htv will search htv white sublimation
I couldn't find the thermoflex in the link you provided, where can i find it please?
I have the Cricut brand Holographic Iron-On...will that work as well? Thank you! And thank you for the video...the cotton shirt came out beautifully! :)
Hmmm I just tried this. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but my sublimation image is very clear on the clear htv however, the htv is very clear to see and feel. Whereas yours appears invisible 🤕
Why is the thermoflex design not mirrored?
Love the video is the paper your using butcher paper
Also living in the UK not sure what to use as a htv for sub
Thanks
Did you cut your sublimation design by hand or on your cricut? I’ve been trying to do this all day with my print and cut on my cricut, the vinyl part is ok, but I go to cut my sub design on my cricut and it cuts it all wrong. I can’t figure out what I’ve done wrong. My sub design is (peace love chick-fil-a).
Mirror your vinyl cut as well
Where did you purchase your printer / heat press cart
So do you have to mirror the clear cut? And when you iron on the clear htv is the sticky side on top or bottom?
After you apply both layers does it make your shirt feel stiff?
@@user-uv2vg1zw8l no not really
What heat parchment paper do you recommend? I have the htv glitter vinyl and want to sublimate on it for sweatpants. I don’t have a cricut. How could I still sublimate? Hand cut somehow? Ideas pls. Ty so muc
Does this work for dark colors as well?
Thank you
Can you use the inket printable htv to submimate on ? Or does it have to be vinyl x
Do you have a video on how to cut in out
It has to be in that specific vinyl? Can I use other vinyl?
Can this still go into the dryer with the htv?
Did you cut it on your circut machine. If so what settings. I can’t get mine to cut through the htv
Where did you get the table where your heat press is sitting on?
Thank you. How do I get design space to print and cut the backround for the clear htv and than print and cut the image on asub ? I use the offset for the backround. Is that wrong? Thank you again
What colored shirts can u use
Wow! After couple of months of washing, how does it turn?
I haven’t had any problems with it. It still looks the same
Pls tell me what papers you are using for heat. Ty
How do you outline your design in order to get just the background to apply the sublimation to?
If using a cricut machine when you upload your image to the software choose the cut image option instead of print and cut.
i want to do this but with an all over print is that possible? does the thermoflex make the shirt feel rough?
great video!! I am in love with your cart but the link doesn't work. Do you recall what the name of it is or who makes it? Thanks
It’s by origami it was an us. Exclusive. It comes and goes out of stock at hsn
What is the name of the htv you used?
Hello how do you cut the subli clear and sublimation image the exact same size and shape ?
wouldn't that be the same as a vinyl print ?
Did you see any colors
how is it when washed? does it survive after a few washes?
Yes it washes fine. Eventually it will fade some as you continually wash it but it fades with the shirt of that makes sense. It looks like the age of the shirt. So if you’ve washed it enough that the shirt starts to look old then the image will look faded too
Lorrie, two questions - where did you get the rolling cart? I noticed the link in the comments but it doesn't seem to be working for me. Second question, what if I get my sub prints from a vendor, how do I cut the image to be close to the sub prints?
Follow the link and type origami. They don’t have my exact cart but they have others. You’d just have to hand cut or ask for the cut file for store bought prints
The thermoflex stuck to the butcher paper ! What can I do?
Where did buy you cart?
Can you use parchment paper instead of butcher paper? Tfs and God Bless 🥰💜
You can but butcher paper is preferred.
@@LorrieNunemaker thank you💜
Isn't the point of sublimation to not have a product glued to the shirt? I guess the image may be a little more vibrant, but aside of that I see no advantage. I don't like vinyl transfer shirts because of the feel. I'm just trying to find the advantage to this.
The advantage is not having to cut and weed vinyl
What did you print your artwork on, was it regular heat transfer paper?
Sublimation paper and ink
Cool!! Does it feel like regular HTV?
It’s thinner feeling and smoother than HTV but you can feel it.
@@LorrieNunemaker thanks!
Can you use this to sublimate on dark colors?
The clear will work in dark shirts but since it’s frosty and somewhat clear the color of the shirt will still show through so it won’t be like printing in a light color. Now you could use the glitter white that I showed and use that in a dark shirt
@@LorrieNunemaker ok thank you
Love the video and followed all instructions BUT.. After I Sub'd on top of it, and cooled I stretched the shirt and the Thermoflex came off the shirt. what am i doing wrong? : (
Make sure you’re following the directions exactly. The thermoflex should not come off the shirt. Did you let it cool
@@LorrieNunemaker Yes I did everything that you said on the video.
How can I do this without a cricut?
Can regular white htv work? Does the dimensions line up? Like when the cricut cuts it it’s always bigger than the print then cut one. If you get what I mean
Thermoelectric has polyester in it so that's why you can sub on it regular white htv does not and won't work but you can use glitter htv
Can it also work for black shirts?
Sublimation ink is much like the ink of a regular ink pen. If you write on a black shirt with an ink pen the ink will be there - but you’re not going to see it that well. The ink transparent so the color of the shirt is going to show through the ink
I’m having trouble with my heat tape leaving yellow marks on my shirts. Any suggestions as to why?
Change your heat tape. All heat tapes are not equal. Had that problem once upon a time. Buy from the same supplier once you find a good heat tape. Oh btw you can get clear heat tape too.
Would it be possible to sublimate on the vinyl first and then press to the shirt? I’m only wondering because you said it was hard to line up the image to the vinyl because the shirt is white.
Yes you can do it that way. My thought process was that the sublimation ink is only going to get heat zapped once. I’m sure it’s fine once it’s transferred onto the vinyl to be heat set again but I just felt better about doing it this way. I have seen others transfer it to the vinyl first with success.
@@LorrieNunemaker how?? the subprint goes on the top side of the htv. thus activating the glue at the back of the htv.
I tried applying it to parchment paper like I do with easysubli but I couldn't get it to stick. Plus it's so thin (which I love on the shirt) I don't know how you'd get it lift it and move it to your product.
Have you used this on black cotton shirts?
While you can sublimate black it won’t show up well. Think of it as a regular ink pen. If you drew on a black shirt with an ink pen - the ink would be there but it’s not going to show up that well. Sublimation ink is transparent
@@LorrieNunemaker I was wondering about doing it the way you did your white shirt, using the frosted vinyl.
What kind of ink do you have in your printer? Is it the Sublijet, Siser EasySubli or Chromablast? It is my understanding that the Siser EasySubli is specifically made for transferring on vinyl for use with cotton shirts. I found this out the hard way when I accidentally bought the Siser EasySubli refills for my SG500 instead of Sublijet. However, my SG1000 has the Sublijet and I would love to use this for larger prints on cotton. Thanks! And, as usual, thanks for another great tutorial!
Sublijet
@@LorrieNunemaker Thank you! 😀
What is the hand of the shirt once completed?
Very soft it feels great.
Does this work on dark colored shirts as well?
It won’t show up well on dark colors. Think of it like in from and ink pen - of you write in a dark shirt the ink is there but you can’t see it as much
what kind of transfer tape did you use?
I didn’t use
Transfer tape. This is a sublimation transfer which doesn’t require transfer tape
as a total noob, how is this different than printable vinyl?
It’s HTV not adhesive vinyl
printable vinyl is done with micro fine htv and an inkjet printer. for dark printable vinyl takes a bit more effort. this way using the htv mentioned makes it a lot quicker
It didn’t work for me I don’t know what I did wrong I followed your directions
I actually had to put the clear side down and the matte side up for it to work.
Lorrie, is this Thermoflex Matte a clear vinyl or is it white?
only the clear color of thermoflex works for dye sublimation.
