I had a school trip years ago and if I recall, we spent a night there in Kelly Tarlton's. We slept in the tunnel (6:27) with like our cots and sleeping bags. It was a strange sleep for me, and a miserable sleep for my friend.

Seeing this makes me appreciate the value of the Monterey bay aquarium...
To be honest, most aquariums aren't very good. Especially for the animals, I mean, SeaWorld, Marineland, all those kinds of places don't treat the animals well, and for what? A subpar experience of viewing fish, or variations of the fish, just being a fish? I'm not impressed, I can travel to a lake for free and witness fish be fish there.
@@koolaid33SeaLife is generally a bit better than the ones you listed. I mean they aren't without their controvercies either but they have a better track record
Sealife is a chain aquarium, and it's pretty terrible. Both experience wise and animal health wise
@@koolaid33 I hope there's way more space around the aquarium because from the inside it looked tiny... not just in a "underwhelming for visitors" way but in a "way too tiny of an enclosure for the animals" way. I've had good experiences in aquariums inside zoos. I don't know how it is in New Zealand or elsewhere but our bigger zoos are owned by the cities they're in and not just by companies, and from everything I've heard and read about them I believe they do take care of their animals well.

@@insanelybruh285 I don't think they renamed it but there was absolutely a ride at the beginning that went through the spinning snow tunnel and the like. IIRC the rails are still there under the platform and you can see them if you lean over I think

As a child, I always thought the Sealife center was huge. Then during summer I went to visit one, the same one I used to visit as a kid and it was soooo small. Then they that one in a different city is much bigger! So I went there too... it wasn't. Sealife center really are underwhelming as an adult

I saw that snowplow and it triggered a memory deep within me of the last time I ever saw my grandmother. I'm an Australian but my mum is from New Zealand, and the last time I was there was the last time I saw my grandmother before her passing. I vividly remember going to this aquarium because my aunt and uncle took me and my parents to see it because I was like 5.
This is something I've struggled with remembering despite actually trying to for a long time and the visuals in this have actually genuinely helped me remember because man that place hasn't changed much in more than 20 years

As a kiwi I have some things to say about this trip to nz:
1) they went at a horrible time to gives glow worms
2) Parkzer was right to only want food from the hotels cause in nz we have like no good foods :C
3) amount ruapehu (sorry MOUNT DOOM) was probably the best thing Doug did here, but you contaminated our water >:C
4) Doug drinking from the water was a bad choice, I’m writing a report on the health of nz waterways so no wonder why he is sick.
5) Auckland aquarium kinda lame
6) even though Doug didn’t want to do hikes he should’ve gone for a trip to Tauranga and walk up Mount Maunganui, it’s a beautiful view and I’m not saying this cause I live nearby.
7) I’m pissed I didn’t see Doug and parkzer
8) one tree hill is called one tree hill cause there was a really culturally important tree there or something, but some activists damaged and killed it so it had to be removed
9) Tūrangi, the place where Doug stayed before the mount doom trip, is a dangerous place so they are lucky to of made it out of there alive.
10) they missed the star attraction MY DOG BEANS
11) Doug either mispronounced horribly or pronounced correctly every place he visited
12) Doug is no longer welcome back to New Zealand after his piss after contaminating both our water the the cultural land, he is only allowed back if he pets BEANS
13) Rotorua is actually a good destination, with the geothermal pools and the luge, but zorbing is actually really fun too so I’m sad they missed that, cause that’s fun and not many people go to it
I was shocked when I saw Kelly Tarltons I thought they’d go to the Napier one that’s like THE aquarium. Also yes Rotorua has so much fun stuff to do but people disregard it bc “it smells” (it doesn’t smell that bad especially in town) (source: used to live in the area)
Bro I agree that nz doesn't have much like super thrilling stuff it's more nature and general beauty, but I gotta ask. Do you live in the bush or something because food in nz is incredible and it's not that hard to find. I mean seriously crayfish, fry bread, pies, fish and chips, hangi just to name a few things. There is SO much good food in nz it's crazy to say that we have bad food.
He didn't even drink out of the waterways. He drank glow worm and volcanic pool water. It'd be like him having a sip of Yosemite geyser and wondering why he's feeling a bit off-kilter.
Phylogenetically all vertebrates are fish, so in a way Doug isn’t wrong when he calls the penguins fish.
Fish isn’t a phylogenetic term in it itself, it just uses phylogenetic words to help define itself. Most people agree that fish begin at vertebrates, but you can evolve out of being a fish if you stop having some of the traits of fish, which you can't do if it was a properly phylogenetic word.
