The biggest problem with having doors that announce when they're open all the time is you eventually drown out the noise they make as a normal occurrence. That's what happened to Linus. He should set it up to only go off during sleeping and away hours. It would be just as effective.
I've never thought about that, but there is this drug store close to me and every time I go it has a "Welcome" sound, and every time I go there I hate that super old, high pitch, and compressed audio, but the employee there is super chill about that sound.
@@frecio231 interesting human factor thing that i learned when i got my pilots license: you wanna make sure alarms and caution bells sound only when the actual system is failing or there is an actual problem. it is easy to drown out the alarms if they always sounded. there are a number of issues where people land with the gear up because they drown out the alarm because it always sounds. there was an accident related to disabling breakers because it was one way to shut up the stall alarm when they were on the ground.

At first I always cringed at it but after a while I just took it in stride while my ears were practically bleeding. I never found myself not hearing it/hearing it less as you do with some more common sounds Plus we only used it at night when in the cooler. Or when you were dog tired and it helps keep you from falling asleep while standing straight up at the counter.

I think no one saw me, so I just grabbed my groceries and got out. It would be very easy to be accused of trying to steal a car. BTW, during a lifetime several very weird things will happen. I have found it is best to just not tell anyone about them. Almost everyone will think they are lies.

My dad did something similar to this. We live close to the store, he drove to the store and bought groceries, then he walked home. Later that evening he didn't see it in the parking lot outside the apartment so he reported it stolen. The next day he went to the store again and he saw the car, he thought to himself that car is very similar to my car, but it can't be, mine got stolen yesturday.
