Did you hear the comment in the other video, about the old house being low tech? Jake's work is really appreciated. They even built in a shower big enough for him.
Not a single tech enthusiast would care about that though in comparison. I wont even move somewhere that doesn't have google fiber, that's a pretty damn small area to choose from. I lived through 56k, ATT, Cox garbage, not again.
Working in architecture and listing to all the "they installed this wrong", "this is the wrong color", "this is the wrong thing" just makes me feel right at home. i love seeing Yvonne and linus, plus linus is one of my favourite agent's of chaos and we all know Yvonne is really the one in charge :) I also greatly appreciate how they keep their kids names out of it, unlike so many people online who just put their kids out there without considering how they may not like it when they're older.
When my painter decorator did my home, he used a single roll of tape for the whole house. Guy's been in business since 1967 and could've just as easily been a heart surgeon.
These are the people we must value. A skilled handyman will forever be a valued asset. It took me far too long to understand it myself chasing after the American Dream - the clue's in the name. But paying for one plus the taxes is something most people can't afford.
The fact I watched this video about a home renovation is proof that I'm slowly turning into my parents! My mom loves watching HGTV, I do sometimes though!
I really enjoy when Yvonne gets to be on camera because you know she is so vital to LMG’s operation but gets very little of the appreciation for it. Yvonne is ESSENTIAL to running things, and I like it when people notice how much work she puts in. Great video.
Jakes face at 4:16 is hilarious. That exact reaction should be put on a mouse pad or something. I love how it feels like Jake has become an adopted brother. Let's see how many buttons we can push to annoy them lol. Love the videos and love the house :)
"She wanted a mountain scene on the outside because she wanted to trick people, and when you go into her room it's underwater themed" had me rolling, that's some good shit
I know it’s been a year since this came out but I’m still crying laughing at the way Yvonne and Linus react when Jake says “do you think it works” when both Linus and Yvonne are showing off the double shower😂
19:10 I do see a blue undertone, blues usually make whites brighter and makes them pop more, but there could've been an issue with the mixture, as when mixing paint you have to account the light level in the room to mix the proper amount of blue. or camera just didnt capture it right i got no idea
I also see a blue undertone. Some laundry detergents for whites have a blue dye that makes the clothes look brighter. In the case of that specific wall it's too blue, so it overpowers the white.
15:51 You don't leave tape for months, you pull the tape as soon as you're done with the paint job. Or else the tape becomes a part of the wall and will be far much more difficult te remove after you're done.
Yes but you could tell that tape had been sitting there for a bit so i'm imagining they are going to have the problem Linus described. Unless it was literally just pained before filming...
The sweet spot is when the paint isn't wet but also not really dry. basically if you can lightly touch it without putting pressure/weight on it and the paint doesn't get on your finger.
Linus, I'm glad your husband and wife get along. It's so refreshing to see such a wonderful trio couple. I can't believe Jake has so much input in the house build, it's funny but cool to see he has someone so close.
I'm sure this is before that, and I can say that because this is the video where Jake learns about how bad the paint is, which was referenced in that one stream they linked in the video. I do love sick Linus content though
15:15 I grew up in a house that had a water heater from 1930. We had it regularly serviced and it always worked really well. The farthest room away maybe took 2 min to get hot, which I think is acceptable for an old house, but it was almost literally scalding. The technicians always said to never get rid of it and that it would probably last for many more generations with service. The first thing the new owners did was get rid of it and replace it with a brand-new one, because they "did not trust it to work because it was so old." Within two years, the new one burst. They had not yet even moved into the house.
Fridges, Washers, Dryers, (was un-aware hot water heaters but makes sense) are a complete nightmare. I read online on new samsung washers and dryers that need thousands and visits every 4-6 months to replace parts and the service techs always point out (yea it will keep failing, it is a poor design). It is very sad but true. The best stuff is honestly the ugly poor people models of white fridges or washers or dryers where they are BUTT ugly but just use a design from 30years ago and they tend to work. On a plus, I'm not rich to have a fancy house with fancy stuff that breaks all the time - so not my problem. YOLO. This is why in multi-million dollar homes they use resturant grade fridges instead because those tend to work - they often don't get professional washers/dryers because those are OVERKILL in size and cost and often put two washers and dryers (because a service tech visit might be a few days, but ordering the failed part makes months) so they just get two of them so 1pair is always working.
@@JohnAdams-qc2ju So true, Samsung and LG appliances is extremely infamous for this. Alot of the newer appliances just aren't built as they used to with fancier and shinier things but those often become another point in the chain that could break. Also planned obsolescence for some of em as well.
Omg. This happened to someone I know. Their brand new tankless burst and flooded the house for four days right before they were about to move in (after redoing it).
I love how they seem to lag when they keep turning on faucets and realizing that there's no sink! you can tell both Jake and Linus are still the uncontrollable button pressing kids at heart.
18:46 Modern fridges often do need to have free space on both sides otherwise they may overheat. I replaced mine a year ago and I had to change a kitchen counter to account for that free space. Check in manual. :)
What you're MEANT to do with the masking tape is to tape, paint, and as soon as that coat is done, remove the tape. You have to retape between coats. Cutting it with an exacto-knife always leaves imperfections that are very far more noticeable than any other method other than ripping it off. You're also meant to only use the tape as a safeguard not as place to wipe your brush off on.
So I'm a painter by trade and when I see those tape lines it drives me nuts cuz Linus is right about the issue cuz they should have peeled the tape like 10 minutes or so after they painted originally or they should have just never taped it in the first place and just cut it in with a 2in angled brush like Linus said
19:05 I agree that the wall paint have a blue undertone, I think Yvonne have the same taste for white color that I have, a little of yellow to make more pleasant, cold colors looks kinda depressing. Huge fan of off white. You can kinda mask it if you use 4000K bulbs.
awesome shout out to Home RenoVision DIY. Love that guy. My house is 1930's and I honestly dont know what I would do without his channel. Guy is a beast in that youtube area.
I love cooking and while a double oven like they have would be great maybe once a year (Thanksgiving), I don't think it'd be worth it to me. That said, they make double ovens that are standard size ovens but instead of a storage/broiler at the bottom the normal sized oven goes down to the floor and there's a smaller oven on top and that is what I got and it's a godsend. So I totally get wanting multiple oven spaces, I just think THAT much extra oven is overkill every time I see it. Of course, maybe I just think that because I've got a smallish kitchen.
12:40 I did this at my friends house multiple times banging my head on a light fixture until one time I stood up way faster and shattered the entire thing (it was glass). So yeah it's possible lol
@@racketbear112 I think you would have to see it in person. I mean we are all watching the footage of a camera with a certain white balance on totally different screens.

Maybe I'll work harder to find the one who wants to share her life with me.
I absolutely love how you're getting the kids input for their rooms, even though you know full well tastes will change and they'll want to redo it down the line. I never even got to paint my own room as a kid unless I was willing to buy my own paint.
@@CockatooDude My room was covered in unfinished plywood panels. I don't think it makes a kid insufferable to actually have the remodeling of their room be finished. But you keep on just being an insufferable jackass.
Man I really appreciate that they let their kids choose what they want in their room, I remember growing up and not having the opportunity to choose the colours or the style of my own room, it's really nice to see parents giving their kids creative freedom, big ups.
I didn't realize how integral to the overall success of LMG Yvonne was. For some reason I thought she was just the wife in the background. My mind was blown to learn she coordinated everything behind the scenes. Shout out to the wives of the world.

@16:14 I'm a qualified 2IC painter for government buildings and I couldn't agree more. Good painters don't bother with tape unless there's carpet and that's just rather safe than sorry kind of deal. just as you said they'd cut it in first, and if there's a nick it'd be a 10 second touch up job which is a lot quicker than setting tape up, and leaves a far far nicer finish.
I love how he said : " we aren't really even a tech show anymore, were a family home Reno show."in a intel extreme tech upgrade (David) Now they actually are a home Reno show...
For the LEDs on the bookshelf, look into WLED. I use that around my house on little micro-controllers. Easier to automate than some individual remote control LED strips.

Didn't they show their faces in some other videos, though? I suppose they'll look different when they grow up so maybe that's less of an issue than showing a name, but either way I think their kids are going to have to deal with some problems resultant of being Internet-famous later on in life.

to be honest, she's probably like 85% responsible for him still not being dead stuck to a high voltage line while trying to overclock a computer way too much
After watching the Roast, and seeing them interact in videos over the years, they really seem to have a great relationship, and she's incredibly patient with him. lol
i love seeing Yvonne and linus, plus linus is one of my favourite agent's of chaos and we all know Yvonne is really the one in charge :) I also greatly appreciate how they keep their kids names out of it, unlike so many people online who just put their kids out there without considering how they may not like it when they're older.
The hiding of their kids names is great. Children's privacy really needs to be more protected.

Definately blue
That one room DEFINITELY had a blue hue to it, it wasn't just the lighting 😂😂
I really want to believe the editors just changed it in post to screw with Linus
Should have painted it RAL9016. It’s white, but no blue undertone.

15:51 You don't leave tape for months, you pull the tape as soon as you're done with the paint job. Or else the tape becomes a part of the wall and will be far much more difficult te remove after you're done.
This was my understanding too. You pull the tape like an hour after painting when its not even fully dry. That way you get clean lines.
@@Taylordtech exactly!
Yes but you could tell that tape had been sitting there for a bit so i'm imagining they are going to have the problem Linus described. Unless it was literally just pained before filming...
That's the sensible thing to do, no clue why the contractors left all the tape on there... They must have been having a bad day ;) ;) ;)
The sweet spot is when the paint isn't wet but also not really dry. basically if you can lightly touch it without putting pressure/weight on it and the paint doesn't get on your finger.
Linus, I'm glad your husband and wife get along. It's so refreshing to see such a wonderful trio couple. I can't believe Jake has so much input in the house build, it's funny but cool to see he has someone so close.

@@renderedpixels4300 eh ltt has always had clickbait, I find it amusing at this point, it's kinda funny
Ok
they still hadn't moved in 2 years later? the hell were they doing, rebuilding the entire house?
19:00 Defo a blue undertone to that wall, I don't dislike it but it is there.
I love how they seem to lag when they keep turning on faucets and realizing that there's no sink! you can tell both Jake and Linus are still the uncontrollable button pressing kids at heart.
Low key think it's the ADHD 👀
18:46 Modern fridges often do need to have free space on both sides otherwise they may overheat. I replaced mine a year ago and I had to change a kitchen counter to account for that free space. Check in manual. :)
yup, there is generally a sticker on the side saying that
if coils are on bottom, remember to clean coils off yearly, especially when you have cats n stuff. otherwise it can make things burn out.
Yup. Remove the tape while it's still wet for the cleanest lines.
Was literally about to type this too.
So I'm a painter by trade and when I see those tape lines it drives me nuts cuz Linus is right about the issue cuz they should have peeled the tape like 10 minutes or so after they painted originally or they should have just never taped it in the first place and just cut it in with a 2in angled brush like Linus said
I've been renovating my own place and it drives me nuts too. The tip about the knife during tape removal was helpful!

Double ovens are a game changer. The ability to cook two different things, at different temps, at the same time
Don’t forget the two kitchens! It’s a LMG host party dream
The thing I'm confused about is I think they mentioned an upstairs and downstairs kitchen.
That sounds like heaven to me
Unless you are baking. You can cook two different things in the same oven just account for the weight of which ever one requires a lower temperature
