1:52 if you turn on the setting that makes prompts appear at the bottom of the screen instead of moving in game, it will help you see exactly what you are Interacting with. Meaning your less likely to make a mistake
@@Darian236 Hard to explain but you drop what you're carrying (default X? ) and immediately hit the interact/pick-up button. In the short time while that interact is happening (since you have to hold the button down normally) you can start sprinting, as soon as you pick the item up again you repeat the process
On a laggier server you can use use this setting to start picking up the chest, jump backwards, turn, start running towards the trader and depending on the delay you should get the chest a few SPRINTED steps in/towards the trader. However, If the server is too laggy the chest will disappear & go back on the ground. (to my knowleder it's rubberbanding, I'm sure you've experience "rubberbanding" when the server & your client essentially disagree, delay is what causes a "disagreement" between client & server. This stops lag switching,) man I want to get even more nuanced but I gotta stop somewhere & sure most people understand.
@@Darian236 This is most often referred to as "flag running". Watch videos of people playing CTF on halo and you will get a good understanding of what to do.
I'm all for NEVER using cannon flares and cannons with flared muzzles (like a blunderbuss), but a little camera shake from firing I think is a nice touch. It doesn't affect my aim at all.
I always turned up the view bobbing (of my viewmodel (hands & guns on screen)) in csgo because it's so vital to know when your moving/how much velocity you're moving with. This is entirely different however and I find this only cosmetic/preference.
2:15 another option in the settings that may compliment this is something to the effect of "make interaction prompts appear in the center of your HUD instead of relative to the object". This will make it a lot easier to know which thing you are interacting with, because it will be the only action you can visibly see / it's centered in the bottom of your screen. Once I changed this setting, I found my interactions to be a lot more accurate as I didn't have to position myself in certain areas to get the prompt.
I for one like the prompt location a lot more. Since I usually stuff all my loot into one one giant unorganized pile (I know, shame on me, habits die hard) I love it when the prompts help me locate the chest i actually want to interact with
@@timogeerties3487 I don't think the option I mentioned hinders choosing something specifically in a pile of loot. I do that too and I don't notice a difference in that regard. It's been a while since I had it on default, but there were instances for example, where I'd be standing just to the side of the wheel to see around the mast and the prompt to grab the wheel would be low on the screen/obscured/partially showing and I would reposition myself even tho I didn't really have to. The setting just makes sure that the prompt is always in the same spot on your screen (lower middle) instead, specifically when part of the prompt is going to be out of a certain visual range. It might make more sense if you experience it :S
I was doing the sunken Pearl Tall Tale last night and I got frustrated with the tridents cause their sensitivity felt slower. Thank you Phuzzy for pointing out that, that was indeed the case and I was not going crazy😊
Some of these have seriously improved my pvp skills, thanks! I just took out a sweaty duo sloop as a solo sloop and the settings with the cannon were so useful in that fight.
5:30 I find that the “X” often is lost in the sand and hard to locate when it’s white, and I don’t use red pants to find digs either way so i just keep mine red
I wish you could use the same button to open and close barrels and crates. The "x" to close only exists as a pop up and can not be re-mapped in the settings. This is a deal breaker if you want to use the right side of the keyboard instead of WSAD. (Luckily jump works to get you out of barrels but not in the water)
There is a pay to win flare that greatly reduces the amount of light on screen after a shot. Cutthroat Cannon Flare. I've never once taken it off, it's so nice.
Great video as always, a lot of these options should be default. But tbh I never understood the high contrast X marks the spot setting: a bigger X will block out more of the details making it harder to find the exact spot on larger islands and a white X is harder to see on sand imo, red just sticks out way more to me
Personally I’ve played the game enough that if I just look at the map once or twice and see the X I can usually just immediately go to the spot and dig it up so the x hiding the details doesn’t matter to me
I know most things you mention in these videos, but I do learn new stuff and I would’ve loved to have your videos when I first started playing. Keep it up.
A minor clarification for controller Phuzzy, - they made the “hold down the jump button to float in water” feature is based off the default jump button and does not follow the custom controls, at least on console. I use “A” to switch weapons instead of jumping but when I am in the water I float a little to the surface every time I switch weapons - it’s a little annoying, but not worth the control switch for me. And of course I don’t float up while holding my jump button lol
One thing that should be mentioned is hardware crosshairs. The game doesn't provide crosshairs on almost every weapon in the game, with a few exceptions like the sniper rifle or some pistols that have what could be considered a front sight. If you have a newer monitor, check it's settings. Many of them now have the ability to overlay a set of crosshairs on the very middle of your screen. Cheating? Maybe. It doesn't change much if you're already a bad shot.
I even use software for that. Frankly something that I can 100% undetectable do (putting something physically onto my display like in the old CS days for the noscopes) should be just fine no matter how you accomplish it. And yeah it is kinda very helpful. It helps not only with firearms but harpoon and even cannon. But for me it is also immersion breaking so I'm glad I can toggle it with a key in a heartbeat
Very useful info for the beginner swabbies! I've been using press to interact since I started playing a long time ago. I've only encountered an issue with the capstan when grabbing the wheel, which only happens when I'm in a fight solo, of course the most hectic unnecessary time to drop the anchor. Lol
