- This Widebody Merkur XR4Ti caught my eyes at SEMA 2023 and I had to share it. The guys at Jh restorations built an amazing legend that never existed.

I came. I came here as soon as I seen it in the thumbnail. What a car. The car was so good in the 80/90s the police could never keep up.
Stunning built car known to me as the Sierra XR4i in the UK very Cosworth style😎😎😎😎😎
Thank you for this video! I remember these from when I was a teenager, this updated version is amazing!
Man I miss my XR4Ti.
It was a ford sierra XR4i over here in the UK but that is absolutely stunning it looks like a 80's sierra cosworth great job
As someone who was young in the 80's, I LOVE this.
That’s so awesome
this creation is incredible. i’m a fan.
My Mom got me an 87 XR4TI back in 1996. I absolutely loved that car. So fun to drive. Wish it was like this beast!
That’s so cool haha
Man I miss my Mekur!!!
My first car! Great memories!!!!
That’s so awesome
These always had my eye as a kid in a weird way, kind of a mix of an Escort and Saab 900. Someone a few blocks down from our house owned one and I passed it everytime I delivered the newspaper, still to this day one of the only ones I've ever seen.
This one looks insane though! Fascinating the cars that some people go 100% all-in with. Thanks for the video, Elvis.
Haha that’s awesome. Yeah it really is like a mix of both cars. And you’re right, they saw the build all the way to the end and they paid attention to every detail for sure. Thanks for the kind words Marcus, it was a fun video to make
So Sick!!!❤
Wish i can buy this car! That car was made like i would build it, my taste.
as a massive sierra fan ive always wondered what a modern or updated cossie would look like (iv'e owned 3 , plus an xr4i in the uk ) ,, and you guys have actually done it , so a huge well done as it looks absolutely awesome , and have you considered selling this body kit ?
thats so awesome. I don't know if the guys are gonna be making a kit for sale but i can ask them
The rear quarter windows are from the European Sierra. They must have grafted in the whole window surround.
You noticed that too...👍🏻
What art. The creator is an artist. I’d love to work people with as much passion for cars. The dream.
So true, me too
This should be on plinths with mirrors/lights under. Sounds as good on the underbody.
so true, its a really clean build
Stunning car
I know right??!!
i love that color.
verry nice car
I know right??!!
Very nice build.
i know right??!!
The rear would look better if they don't use the sedan rear lights and grab instead the rear lights from the hatchback, they do look the same but do fit and don't stand over a mile
I remember when the Cosworths became impossible to insure in the UK due to thefts for ram-raids and racing the cops so no one could afford to insure them so the price of them fell really low, you had to be over 55 and have 20 years of no claims, an alarmed lock up garage joined on to your house and a mobilised fitted even then they are 4-5 X the cost of a comparable ford, like Sierra 2.2 would be £200 PA the Cossy would be £1000, I heard of people being quoted £5-6K for insurance back in the 1980s, So many of them were locked away in barns and shipping containers and are now being recommissioned, starting to see a few cossies on the roads again,
I love sierra cozy’s but this beats all of them
Has it got an immobiliser installed? So it doesn’t get stolen
Decent Merkur XR4Ti's can be found in the U.S. for affordable prices. These guys make it look easy. How practical are these really as project cars for the average schmuck without a rolodex filled with great parts suppliers and specialized detailers/mechanics?
Ummmm... why is that called an XR4ti when they only had the funky 2 small windows on the side, that looka like a normal 3door model,?
Because it had a Turbocharged, fuel injected, 4 cylinder engine.
Please make it into a hotwheels car
I want 2 things...a detailed video of the build and..... I want to hear it run and drive!!! Not too much really....
That's a Sierra body, not US XR4ti, would have the rear pass windows divided by a pillar for added US only import roll over regulations💙
It is an XR4Ti, they modded the 1/4 panels to allow fitting of the Euro Sierra 2 door 1/4 glass.
Great video except for the 10 minutes of nothing at the end
Whoops haha, working on a fix now. Thanks for the info🙏
Looks like a rally car
The Ford Sierra Cosworth rs500 was used in rally. And rally cross. And DTM.
The Sierra RS Cosworth was a Rally car.
@@josteincarlsen2905Rs 500 wasn't legal for Group A rallying only the small Turbo RS Cosworth.
A yo i'm from New York and alot of drug dealers bought this car in the 80's 🤣
haha thats awesome
Merkur is German for Mercury.
Doesn't look like a mekur shell.
Cosworth yes,XR4Ti no.
Sombody is comfused
You are confused. It’s an XR4Ti which has been modded to look similar to a Cosworth. The car builder even states that, and they should know. Most people seem to get thrown by the rear side windows but that’s one of the modifications. Quite a few XR4i’s in UK/Europe were modded in the 80s and 90s to Cosworth reps and part of that was removing the pillar for the split rear windows and fitting the large single piece glass.
dont call it XR4 with that rear window.
So no im not confused.
Have he changed it ,than its not a XR4 look anymore.
And how can you call it XR4 when it doesent look like XR4.
so no not confused.
You are confused
It is not merkur
