Just hummed this to my son to get him to sleep after ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle kept failing; he usually loves the latter. First attempt with this and it knocked him out. Thanks, Nobuo. This dad'll get some decent rest tonight.
This song [core song without the these lyrics] also became my lullaby for my kids as well. They are older now, but still request it! i play the real song for them from time to time. For whatever reason this is my heart song. First heard it when I bought the game when I was twelve (27 years ago)--it has been part of my life ever since.
it brings me tears... ffVI is my favorite game and is very very special to me, because i have so many good moments playing it, i laughed and cried in many chappters of this beautifull story, and it will be in my heart until i die
It was the first game I ever played, and I have been playing it ever since, never beating it. I restart when I get everything in the World of Ruin because I am afraid that if I beat it, the one thing that keeps my sane in this world will be gone. I have been playing for 12 years now. I started when I was 4.
wow '-' u know, i regret to have beaten the game sometimes, because the story ends and i want more from that universe... but no one never made something more about FF3
Caius Ballad wow '-' u know, i regret to have beaten the game sometimes, because the story ends and i want more from that universe... but no one never made something more about FF3
NyanChanDaisuki Exactly same thing happened to me when I got near the end of Lost Odyssey :(. After spending so much time playing the game and knowing all teh bakc stories and such, i just didnt want to get into teh final boss cause i knew after that it woudl be it and taht would be it since I had nearly 100%'d it :/
I miss Squaresoft... Square Enix being, honestly, a failure in continuing the extraordinary quality of what used to be "Final Fantasy", not only the mediocre attempt of Squeenix at doing new "Final Fantasy" games but also the reminder like this wonderful piece of musical art that is Terra's Theme left me with a bitter taste of knowing that not even the clown who bought the rights for Final Fantasy licence can't produce a quality of the same tier as FF6 to 10...
I feel what you're saying. Ever since they fired the "old school" in the middle of FFX's development, the company just hasn't been the same. Modern FF feels like they're just not even trying to do anything besides nice graphics, and there's no heart and soul to really connect the gamer and create decades-long memories.
Very few songs can project wonder and fantasy and rarely can they bring a tear to my eyes. This is a spectacular masterpiece that can grip both effortlessly and sticks with you for hours, perhaps days, on end.
Close your eyes and listen to the song. What do you see? I see Terra, Locke and the rest of the group walking through the World of Ruin, taking in all the sights of people struggling in this world, animals slowly dying, red skies, polluted waters, barren landscape, and all concluding with the Tower of Kefka.
This song randomly inspired me to write an entire 160-page novel the first time I heard it; going for a walk in the freezing night air. When I begin to conceptualize a story, I become another person. One that, apparently, was so dead-set determined not to let anything ruin the initial train of thought, I snarled and barked like a feral animal at three dudes all in black on the sidewalk--my path otherwise obfuscated and blocked off. But I had to keep moving--no stopping at all, or the train will derail. So I snarled at them, as a lunatic would, to scare them away to hold onto what became my most-popular book to date. All thanks to this song.
Crossing the distant night, Wandering the desert sea. The gods' voices are mirages; The forgotten people. Shadows flicker palely, then stand; For one moment, an illusion. A hero's dream, burning blue, The people, sleeping forever.
I always seem to find my way back to this song and this game. This game is a reflection of what strength really is. It isn't just being a badass character on a quest for vengeance or survival. Being strong is about having weakness of the heart and mind that you work to overcome. The real strength of the characters if this RPG masterpiece is that they still feel human. You can believe in their struggles. You can still empathize with them, and they feel all the stronger when you see how far they've come since their journeys began. The modern era of games can keep their "Strong Female Protagonists". Terra and Celes are the only two I need to know.
Completely agree! I'm not sure if Mitsuda gets enough credit either. Some days I prefer one other the other but both have turned good games into works of art.
Its like 10 pm.. and these lyrics was stuck in my head... i had to sing it over and over to remember its from ffvi .. then i had to look up the title..... insomnia's kicking my ass
Just started playing FFVI for the first time on iphone(controls are abysmal on phone). better late then never. This song brings chills all over my body. Just played the intro and I know I'm gonna experience something amazing
+Mr Music I have only actually played through a remake of FF1 for GBA. And that one isn't even that amazing of a game. You should play this one(FF6) for sure.
That´s damn true. We do not only like Terra because she was the first female main character in Final Fantasy, but also because we loved her emotional struggle of who she is and why she exist
This is fom the album Final Fantasy Vocal Collections I : Pray. There's also a second one : Final Fantasy Vocal Collections II : Love Will Grow. Not to be confused with Final Fantasy Vocal Collection, which doesn't contain any exclusive tracks, just various vocal themes from the games.
I wholeheartedly agree and have been saying so for years. FF7 was amazing but I always thought FF6 was the best of all of them and there's so many people who never started playing the series until FF7. It makes me sad.
This is so very beautiful. It really captures the beauty but also sorrow of the lovely fictional (and in my eyes)Goddess Terra wonderfully. I would love to be her lover if she were real.
@DamascusTest I agree completely. It was arranged by Risa Ohki (who is also the singer), Toshiro Mitsutomi, Masatsugu Shinozaki, and Yoshiro Nakamura. This song is actually called Toki no Hōrōsha (Wanderer of Time in English), and it's from the album Final Fantasy: Pray. The orchestra used in the performance isn't named on the cd. This is one of my favorite Final Fantasy albums.
I love you for commenting that :) Zidane and Terra are indeed the best Duodecim characters :) As well as amazing games. Will alwasy love Zidane and Terra :) Its a shame they don't meet up until duodecim :) But i like garnet too a little :) Liked your comment :)
@7RadicalDreamers What I love most about Terra is seeing her becoming ever stronger and ever more emotionally confident as the game progresses. And what happens to her in post-apocalyptic Mobliz is golden - first she loses her fighting spirit to tend care of the children, but then regains it later on!
I played this when I was 5 and managed to get to the sealed gate and unleash the espers on Vector. After that, I left the game because it was too hard. Picked it up 10 years later, and was amazed at how all the music and the story blended together. Best game I ever played.
I think you missed another "I" at the end of that. I know you meant Final Fantasy VII is the best but auto correct can sabotage us all sometimes.... lol 😜
um RUclips you seam to be broken cause I made this list and added this song back in college which is now 8 years ago so there is no way this comment is only 6 months old
I love this song!!! It's sad how FF6 gets over-shadowed by FF7. Don't get me wrong i love FF7 as much as 6. 6 was the game everyone was playing until 7 came along, then people really didnt care about it anymore. I know because i was one of those people but hearing this song brings back memories. :*}
I think the only reason this isn't my absolute favorite version is that the original has heavy nostalgia value. Even after taking nostalgia into account, the two are neck-to-neck IMHO.
Holy crappola!, this brings back memories. 8 bit to this amazing track... I need to buy some tickets for the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds when they come in Toronto on Nov 27th. Nobuo Uematsu is a genius.
Beyond epic... still rocking this 2024. Used to sit in the world of balance and just listen to this wo lyrics endlessly
Me too😂
classic - 30 years of memories
I tend to like the 8 and 16bit FF era songs a lil more, tho there are some after that are good too
Same
This song is literally the sound of hope, when all is lost.
I think searching for friends Fits more that description.
The cinder, growing brighter like the heart beat (drum)
When I was younger, I heard this version and fell in love with it. I'm glad I was able to find it again.

I did the same for 3 years with Lgend of Zelda: OOT, but in the end I finished it and it left a big empty room where it had been.

I think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written in music history.
Ah yes. here's the one! This is one of the best versions! I havent listened to this in a long, long time...

im 41 now, I was 14 then, I still hear it.

only issue with this comment is that this music played in the light world only
but that's not hating. respect the vision

This gives me chills......
i've wept tears over this remake. incredible
Phenomenal work. This track is not bombastic, but rather captivating. I love the use of the flute and the singing in this.
I always heard that Terra's theme was good ,I didn't play FFVI, but they were wrong!
This is a masterpiece! I was soo moved by it
Never too late to try the game, it's good as this theme :)
Dahila James Yes.Never ever i heard a Song with this power that make me cry like this one
The most beautiful song of the videogames history.
Crossing the distant night,
Wandering the desert sea.
The gods' voices are mirages;
The forgotten people.
Shadows flicker palely, then stand;
For one moment, an illusion.
A hero's dream, burning blue,
The people, sleeping forever.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my lifetime.

Over ten years and I keep returning to this. Thanks for keeping it up.
This song is everything ❤
This is incredible. I'm seriously almost crying. Right in the feels.
Reminds me so much of Ennio Morricone
Finally found this version again. Last heard it on my cd back in 2002.
Love this song, lyrics are beautiful Risa's voice amazing.. This was also my most favorite Final Fantasy out of all so far.
I got this on the original CD when it came out. And here.... almost 15 years later.... it still makes me tear up.
You were able to get the Japanese album "Final Fantasy Vocal Collections I" when it came out it 1994? That's impressive!
Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda best composers from games ever.
Completely agree! I'm not sure if Mitsuda gets enough credit either. Some days I prefer one other the other but both have turned good games into works of art.
Yuki Kajiura
And Yoko Shimomura
Akira toriyama
Tyrhunger Sword Check Bravely Default OST by Revo. He's good. And dont forget Shoji Meguro with his Persona's OST
Happy 20 years, FF6!

あら懐かしい。CD今も持ってます。
Made me shed tears..so beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful. Moving.
Its like 10 pm.. and these lyrics was stuck in my head... i had to sing it over and over to remember its from ffvi .. then i had to look up the title..... insomnia's kicking my ass
Influencing me from my childhood to this very day.. The perfect story.
this song is called Wanderer of Time from the album Final Fantasy Pray :D nice version :D
Just started playing FFVI for the first time on iphone(controls are abysmal on phone). better late then never. This song brings chills all over my body. Just played the intro and I know I'm gonna experience something amazing
Wonderful voice of Risa Ohki... I very love it, especially in The Promised Land
So, I gotta admit. I haven't actually played any of the games, but love the music! Maybe one day when I'll have the time to spare...
+Mr Music Same here man.
+normalguycap play it man... ff6 is so deep, and even can make you cry sometimes, ff6 is the best game ever created imo :)
Gustavo Antonio
Which version? Aren't there a few remakes? What would be good?
+normalguycap the SNES version or the GBA, trough a emulator, there are no remakes yet, but SquareEnix said that they could do it in the future :)
+Mr Music I have only actually played through a remake of FF1 for GBA. And that one isn't even that amazing of a game. You should play this one(FF6) for sure.
Wow that was glorious. Squall's theme used to be my favorite character theme, then I came here..... Go Terra.
I heard so many versions but this one is unbeatable
one of best songs ever created by human manking, top 100 alltime !
Thank the gods, I thought I lost this one. I wanted to hear it today and had to scroll until I noticed the thumbnail.
Anyone else hear the laughter at 2:14 and up?
I have SAND on my boots.

I think they edited it out
I swear, I've been looking for this cover for years! I can't believe I finally found it!
I found it! Been about 10 years or so since I've heard this...brings back so many memories...
Anne Boleyn brought me here Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕
For everybody asking what the name of this version of Terra/Tina's theme is, it's called Toki no Horousha.
Excelente cancion es tan emotiva y tan profunda
de verdad que es maravillosa
Un reflejo perfecto de Terra como personaje y su trayecto de autodescubrimiento
Ah, this is the song I remember downloading from Napster so so long ago.
It's totally worth your time. Terra is easily one of my favorite FF heroines.
I some how found this song as an adolescent and I've been looking for it ever since!
This version owns all others. The original was amazing, this just blows it away.
That´s damn true. We do not only like Terra because she was the first female main character in Final Fantasy, but also because we loved her emotional struggle of who she is and why she exist

i love this song it takes me back to when i was playing the game on the snes it was the best
Leave it alone. Its perfect. The music, the struggle, the story....god the story. Please leave it alone everyone.
I wholeheartedly agree and have been saying so for years. FF7 was amazing but I always thought FF6 was the best of all of them and there's so many people who never started playing the series until FF7. It makes me sad.
by far my most favorite version.

FINALLY!!!! A great remake of this character's song that does it justice! I've never heard one that sounded right until now.
I haven't heard this version in years, not since before my old old compy died the hard way. Thanks for posting!
Terra is amazing
@DamascusTest I agree completely. It was arranged by Risa Ohki (who is also the singer), Toshiro Mitsutomi, Masatsugu Shinozaki, and Yoshiro Nakamura. Good Music for a last Journey!
Hauntingly Beautiful.

Nostalgia Deffo one of the best FF up there x
I definitely don't mind this being stuck in my head..
Son of a submariner... Now I can't stop hearing it!
I played this when I was 5 and managed to get to the sealed gate and unleash the espers on Vector. After that, I left the game because it was too hard. Picked it up 10 years later, and was amazed at how all the music and the story blended together. Best game I ever played.
Over the snow covered mountains.....3 soldiers in Magitek Armor make the slow march to Narshe.....where they plan to lay it low for the empire.
Beautiful.
To end all the arguments: yes, FF VI is the greatest game ever made.
I think you missed another "I" at the end of that. I know you meant Final Fantasy VII is the best but auto correct can sabotage us all sometimes.... lol 😜
@@user-de8qi4ly5t No I think he had it right with "VI"
first video game theme I added to y music for my sanity playlist

Its from an album called "Final Fantasy: Pray" the song is nicknamed "Wanderer of Time" on that album. Sung by Risa Ohki
The intro is really fascinating
love this song!!
