Most versatile board I've ever ridden. I lap this thing in the park, go to races on this, send it off drops, I set it back and brought it to Japan for that powder. Really sick board.
Seconded! It's would also be good if you could take it through the park and rip some carves on a groomer. I know you touched on it at the end, but the main thing that sets you apart from other (credible) reviewers is that you show AND tell in your reviews. Worth the extra run or 2 imo.
Seanpaulnz01: Jones Mountain Twin, Yes Typo...similar shapes. Jones has a bit longer „spooned“ nose (good for powder) but is still a twin + lib techs „mellow magnetraction“ edges for grip on ice and shitty conditions. The Typo has set back and mid bite for grip, which is optically the opposite of the mercury’s death grip. Mid bite: Bump to the inside on the edge in the middle of the board. Hi there, great review and nicely sums it up. I'm riding Mercury 159 18/19 (I'm 182/80kg) and I just love this board. I've done 13 days on it ~10 of groomers and 3 of a pow and just few easy rides through the park (so can't really give feedback on this). But as far as groomers goes this board is amazing. I've done 90km/h easily with no popping front/rear. It just shreds through the bumps. If you want all mtn board and you like to carve, this deck is for you. You can lay down to the ground in carves and if you push the edge aggressively it will catapult you out of the turn. I didn't really had a full pow days, but I was riding trees in about ~30cm deep soft powder. The board is very agile and gives you lots of feedback - loved it. I'm riding recommended stance with Flux DS bindings.
I'm about your specs looking to buy one of these, do you think the 155 would still be able to ride as aggressively?
4 года назад
@@malintous1 I think you should be fine, because the deck is pretty stiff. But it might be a bit short for the powder, especially if you won't push the bindings back. There is also 157cm version - maybe consider this option too?

I have the 2018-155 capital Mercury ! Awesome board finish with the smile in my face every time I ride it ! I’m 73 kg / 5,8 height , advanced rider , Tj , you are right ! On the reviews . Difficult to find the sweet spot ! For freestyle park , out side of the reference stance , but this is my opinion don’t move the back stance , move the front binding one insert ( 2 cm ) so you have at least 1 cm more nose than tail . Works perfect in the park . For free ride use the reference stance . Cheers ! I have been riding ! Capota TFA several years and this is my first year on the Mercury ! 35 days riding the Mercury now ! @@StilleStormen 155 is fun to ride , but bigger mountains you will need the 157 and plus ! ( like Tahoe / mammoth / ) but like big bear snow summit ( Sweden ) I will stay with 155 ....
I snagged a Mercury at the beginning of the 2018-19 season...it took me a while to dial in the set up...once I got the hang of it I can just charge through all conditions...great all round board
Hey guys, I have 2018 Mercury and I can say this board is amazing! It feels awesome in Pow and very nice in the park. Also can say it's very stable, both for carving and for jumps. Upgraded to it from Salomon Pulse and I really got in love with this snowboard ^_^ The only downside, it's pretty stiff for buttering and freestyle tricks, but not for me, I'm more all mountain/ pow rider.
As an intermediate I had to detune the tip and tail as I found it easy to catch edge (vs DOA 160 which I also ride) however once I was firmly at the advanced riding level, I have really warmed up to this board. The stiffness, at first, took some getting used to but now broken in. Yes, very stable board. Ty TJ!!
Been waiting for this review. Thanks TJ. Mercury is definitely on the short list. Would love it if you could review the Rossi One LF & Jones Mtn Twin. Great content as always.
Another dope review TJ, this board caught my eye a couple of seasons ago, but I like my Outerspace Living too much. Sick pow line and slash at the 5:21 mark in this video too, slick skills!? Yew!👍🤙.
Board Archive dude, that was a killer shot. Prob. my fave from this edit👍. Could you do a tutorial sometime on how to get that body position and not just slide out or fold over? That would be sick.
There probably wasn't much hard pack out there but were you able to put the death grip sidecut to the test at all? If so, how does it compare to magne traction? Thanks so much for the review! Been waiting for this one for a while.

Hey TJ, great review! I currently own a DOA 58w (size 12 boots, 200 lbs) and am considering a second board for days with no parks around (including pow). I am torn between the Mercury 161and the k2 simple pleasures 156. I am concerned the first one will be too similar to my doa (and maybe too narrow, cant really understand the waist width with the death grip) and that the second will not have the pop I love from the doa for rollers and side hits. Any thoughts?? Thanks and keep up with the great work!
This is an incredibly fast board on groomers and hard pack. Can't speak for deep pow as I live on the East Coast. I did have a de-lamination issue after 3-4 days of riding though. Capita swapped it out immediately.

Guys, i was expecting to see you doing some butters and ollies with this board as usual. Everyone had already mentioned how good this board performs in groomers and powder and capita actually says that the grip and performance is high. But i was interested in knowing how that middle stiff flex ( 7/10) actually feels. How good and how playful is this board for buttering and doing small jumps. Also how friendly is it for jibbing although that is not made for. Cheers in advance!
I've never waited in line for over 2 hours to catch a chair in my life!!! :/ I guess i will just stick with Sunrise n Purg as my winter playlands. 2hs!!! I've never been to lutsen or bohemith so I can't speak for them. But if you gotta two hour wait I can't imagine you get a two hour ride down.
Hey TJ I just got a never summer Westbound snowboard and I was curious if you had checked it out? It was a mid season release and so far I’m loving it. Check it out and maybe it would be a good board to review?
Mercury is much more aggressive than the magic carpet and will do better in the variable stuff and high impact drops. I think the Pow 3BT may give the magic carpet an edge in powder, but I haven't gotten to try that one in pow yet
Another great review! It would also be helpful if you mention what level riders would be best suited for each board - is it beginner/learner friendly, better for intermediates, or should it only be used by an advanced rider (i.e. if it's a board that's plotting to kill you 😉)

Hey TJ, what size are you riding on the Mercury vs your weight? I'm 170lbs and I tried the 157, and I found it a bit big, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Hej Tj, can you compare capita mercury vs nitro dropout cause I got good deal on nitro( ride, dampness, edge gold, playfulness, pop, flex and versatility)
Good afternoon! The minimal stance width of my bindings on Capita Merc 159 is 55,5cm. Is it to big for my 178cm height? (If we speaking about all mountain and freeride)
I own both boards, they are pretty similar but the main difference is that the Mercury has "Death Grip". It's not as good as magnetraction but it's very close. The grip on ice is just stellar. Also when snowboarding in various snow conditions the Mercury is a lot more stable through chunder and chop. If you're sure you never snowboard icy conditions then buy the mountain twin. It's a little bit more playful then the Mercury but less stable. The Mercury has a progressive sidecut that is so much fun to carve with. Initiating and executing carve's is what really stood out to me. Hope this helps

Hi TJ, thanks for the review. I’m 6’, 150lbs, 10.5 (reduce footprint), Burton Photon boots and Gensis bindings. I’m Intermediate to advance, snowbording about 12 years, 8 days a year. Considering my riding style and the fact that I perfer very maneuverable board, do you think the 153 is the right choise?
Cant speak to the size but if you are looking for a pure free riding board ive had a great experience with mine. It also holds up really well in bad conditions.

Matt Gattey how much you weigh and what size you ride man? Can you bend the jones a little and hit rails etc or is it a bit too stiff?
I own both boards, they are pretty similar but the main difference is that the Mercury has "Death Grip". It's not as good as magnetraction but it's very close. The grip on ice is just stellar. Also when snowboarding in various snow conditions the Mercury is a lot more stable through chunder and chop. If you're sure you never snowboard icy conditions then buy the mountain twin. It's a little bit more playful then the Mercury but less stable. The Mercury has a progressive sidecut that is so much fun to carve with. Initiating and executing carve's is what really stood out to me. Hope this helps
Yeah sick, you taken them into the park? MT more playful their too you reckon?
The MT has mellow magnetraction which should be better than death grip. I have a '17 Mercury, and the death grip bump is subtle.

I WANT A SNOWBOARD SO BAD
thumbnail says 2019 capita and vid says 2020 capita?
I think there were no changes on the board
looking at the graphic its the 2020 i think he's riding
I wanne buy a board and i need to schose between flat ore clasic camber, i know what the difernce is, but i wanne know, how big is the diference, is it realy that diferent?? Please help me out?🙏
It depends on your riding skill and guessing you are not an advanced rider you should not choose a classic camber but more like a rcr
@@metthanos and how about the flex, is it better to have a lot ore is a stiffer board more fun
@@enginesandmore1013 If you are a beginner a softer board is more forgiving than a very stiff board
@@metthanos i can snowboard can take some smal jumps, with a stif normal camber board an i like it, but wanne take sope bigger jumps not freestyle, but just when i want, with that in mind, what wouod you recomend?
@@enginesandmore1013 What's the brand/model/size of your current board? If that's known he'll have a better chance of suggesting a good 'step up' for an all mountain board.
hey Kevin whats up dude
Can someone get away with just setting their stance back on the board to get that longer nose or is there more to it than that?
Stephen Mendoza ,setting stance back will help with lift for powder and for quicker turns since you have less tail to swing
@@mileswilken2389 Thanks Miles. That's also my understanding and it makes me wonder why someone would need a board with a longer nose built in vs just setting your stance back. Maybe the contact points are also designed to be shifted back with a board like this Capita that TJ is demonstrating.
Hi TJ, thanks for the review.
I’m 6’, 150lbs, 10.5 (reduce footprint), Burton Photon boots and Gensis bindings.
I’m Intermediate to advance, snowbording about 12 years, 8 days a year.
Most of time I’m on slope, some small jumps some of the lips, some curving...
Powder when possible, never park.
I like to ride short boards around the 153 and that what I’m thinking about the Mercury.
Considering my riding style and the fact that I perfer very maneuverable board, do you think the 153 is the right choise?
Cant speak to the size but if you are looking for a pure free riding board ive had a great experience with mine. It also holds up really well in bad conditions.
ianman222001 thanks
Hey can someone help me out with the binding stance please, I usually ride 15/15 mirrored duck but I am worried that it directional, any recommendations??

Thumb nail picture showing a 18/19 model. TJ are riding a 19/20 model. The base are different... 19/20 have a new base call hyperdrive base. What capita claim 19/20 model has a “exclusively formulated, sintered, ultra high molecular weight, ultra high density polyethylene, custom engineered with special additives.......”
2019 ROME GANGPLANK PLEASE!!!!!!
I read captain Murica for this 😂
