- In this foraging catch and cook video joe pk catches crabs and lobsters by hand whilst freediving off the south devon coast. Lobster catching in the sea is a lot of fun! Then catch clean and cook the seafood on the beach in a sand oven. Wild beach cooking at its finest!

Great video Joe. Probably hard to do there, but a hole in the sand with coconut husks. You salt and spice the fish with garlic, chilli, shallots and rosemary. Place the fish on a metal flip rack. Light up the your wood and coconut husk and fan it so the smoke goes into the fish skin. This is a Balinese recipe and would be delicious with bass.
Sounds incredible... one for Madagascar!
Joe I say it all the time but I absolutely love your videos especially these catch and cook style. Another belter 👏
Thanks so much for your comment! It's great to know the videos are enjoyed :)
Inspirational! Loved that and a different way of cooking and the comments suggestions of variations on the theme. Thank you 😊
Glad you liked it!! Thanks :)
Nice one always a pleasure to watch
Great video Joe! Always enjoy your posts.

Thanks again Mr Robson! Glad you enjoyed.
Another inspiring video. Thanks, Joe.
Hoping to get out for low tide tomorrow at 05:01 and get me a lobster. Was murky last week here in East Lothian. Mark
P.S. Happy Birthday Toby! After much practice, got my first couple of lobsters late last summer. What a buzz.
Good luck!
My new favourite Chanel. Beannachtaí ó Éire mo chara 🤝
Great cooking pike, makes me want to try it 👌
Cheers bud! Would be great to do this with mr lobster...
Outstanding video ❤️👌👋🏻🥰👍🏻😀😍💯🤗🐟🐠🦞🦀
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching!
Looking good this weekend, can't wait!!!
Beautiful bit of water there Joe. Love the still, current free, clear conditions.
Enjoy your dive bud! What's it looking like out west?
Absolutely loved that video Joe and Toby! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us! What a feast! And happy birthday to Toby 🎉
Thanks so much! 😊
Cracking day out Joe!
Thanks so much Neil!!
Such a shame you missed that Gurnard, looked a good size..
4 weeks now till I'm home in Cornwall, can't wait... Another great video Joe
yes it was... but I'll be keeping an eye out for him!! Thanks :)
Good man, Joe.
Absolute blinder of a dive, and what a finish to your day. Stunning.
Need to sort a weight belt, and a mask that doesn't leak, and I'll be poking about on the Helford and Fal estuaries. Just without the absolute skill, precision, and effort free smoothness you exhibit!!! Great video, thank you for sharing your day.
Thanks! Good luck on your kit acquisition... if you need any advice don't hesitate to call the shop on 07518 784 002
Best of luck with your dive down cornwall... what a stunning hunting ground you got there!
@@JoePkSpearfishing Nice one, dude, much appreciated. I think I just have a skinny face, and the generic fin/mask/snorkel set I bought fits a generic face!
Any advice on a not too dear one would be much appreciated.
That was a long time in the water my longest was only 4hr 30min and I had to sit on the beach for a while before I could stand up. I was towing an 8lb bass though which ended up on the BBQ with some white wine. Its amazing when you get water clarity like that also makes for great filming, Cracking video.
Oh wow! That's a bass and a half. Thanks Troj, we are lucky here with the vis right now for sure!
nice one cappo , do you do that torch clip for your tickler at the shop boss?
Yes we do one but it just fits the orca d550. If you want one made up best to give the shop a shout whatsapp or phone 07518 784 002 the hooks are handmade in cornwall!
Beautiful South Devon! Lovely vid Joe. Give me a shout - need to discuss dates.
Thanks! Will do!
Massive gold star Joe for not taking that lobster Joe even though it may have officially been ‘legal’. Drives me mad watching creators on this site measuring over and over to see if it’s 89 or 90mm. If you’re really not that sure it’s too small, put it back surely.
Great video as usual 👍🏻
Thanks Peter. I think in Ireland they also have a maximum size now to preserve good mums and dads. Seems like a sensible idea.
Absolutely, probably as important not just for lobsters etc but all fishing. Maybe common sense will prevail one day!
Fantastic video pard.
Did you leave a claw on the rock face as there was one there yesterday....
Nice to see the sand oven in use..
Some boi you is
Negative, wasn't I pard! Wasson?
Cool lobster hook, I have just ordered one from your website do they all come with a torch holder like the one in the video ? I have an orca torch similar to yours I think.
The standard Start Point Lobster Hook is not fitted with the ORCA D550 torch mount as the mount attachment is custom made. If you are interested in purchasing the hook with the torch mount please call the shop on 07518 784 002 for more details. Please note the mount fitting will only hold the ORCA D550 torch .
I hope this helps :)
fantastic video mate shame about the gurnard so a delicious fish to eat hope to get one myself this year 👍👍
Absolutely, I was gutted! What happens when you don't use your usual gun!
You see you got that crab, you lost last time, back! Amazing conditions im really jealous
I know!! Ha, was a tasty one.
Yes please with crab
Amazing. I’m looking at giving this ago. Just been scubadiving and snorkling in Egypt, how the hell do you stay down so long? How long do you go down for on each breath? Any tips?
Good question! I've been thinking about making a video on this next. Stay tuned...
@@JoePkSpearfishingbrilliant. If you could do a video, “a dummies guide to free dive spear fishing” that would be amazing! Just back from Egypt, scuba and snorkelling was incredible, Cornwall in august, hoping to give the dove foraging/ spear fishing a go. I need to get the full clobber, and learn how to hold breath for longer. I run a lot, so I’m fit, but don’t seem to reach anything much more than holding my breath for 1minute when I tried in my house lol
this is my asmr
Cool video mate, may i ask what’s the water temp and your wetsuit thickness. thanks
14 degrees, 7mm wetsuit :)
@@JoePkSpearfishing cool thanks for the info brother. I saw you wearing shorts and assumed the temperature is higher.
How about that brown crab at 3:38 ?? Vis looks unreal, been in this weekend around Swanage - lots of algal bloom and poor vis
Some of the best vis we get for sure!!
Hi mate, love the videos. What camera and accessories do you use?
Or what do you recommend as I’m doing boat videos professionally.
I film everything on gopro hero 11 and my iphone. I just keep it simple but I wouldn't call it a pro setup. I think you'd need a wireless mic to film professionally on a boat to get audio.
@@JoePkSpearfishing really? That’s insane. Even your most cinematic shots are done by a go pro or iPhone? Possibly getting a brig navigator 610 like yours. Looks awesome in your videos - any tips?
@@JoePkSpearfishing if you’re ever looking for someone to edit your videos… 😂. All joking aside I did photography a level and got an A after doing a documentary video.
Most of us, here in NZ, disable out safetie...
👍
Did this once got around 14 pinches
Do it with a crab or lobster!
Fancy not giving your mate the lobster you stole off him for his bday that's tight that
I did offer but Toby wanted the smaller lobster as he would have the whole thing to himself. I shared the bigger one and the crab between family of 5.
I found your videos theough Daniel Mann's videos, but he has appeared to stop posting again. Maybe you know what is going on with him.
I'm sure he will post again soon, it will be worth the wait!
Is ıt really healthy that putting foil on fire?
I think it's ok, but if you know otherwise do let me know!
Talk too much not cookin
Happy Birthday Toby🎉🥳
Joe please direct Toby to purchase a lobster 🦞 net/catcher from, the RUclips channel of Brook Crist Outdoors, she's out of Florida, USA. This way Toby will always get his lobster 🦞, Especially on his 🥳.🙏🏾
Aloha. It might not be legal there. I used to night dive for lobster in Hawaii, we could only use our hands.
Intruiged to see this lobsteromatic! I will check it out, thanks.
@@JoePkSpearfishing It’s literally a clear net, more elongated than round, with a deeper bag/net. Btw I used to night dive for for lobster in Hawaii. I always tried to find bags with a mesh lower half and a solid upper half. Made getting the bugs in easier especially since we had spiny lobster. I say this because you harvest spider crabs.
Be careful of hurting hand
