She and 2 others also kidnapped and held another teacher while physically attacking and threatening to kill them. Now she is charged as an adult. Mom did not talk about that.

I used to put my hands on my teacher when I was her elementary special education student because I loved her back then. I would hug her like crazy when I was 8 and she was 23.

Fighting another student is wrong. The bond is excessive. The student still needs to be held accountable for her behavior. The student,s mother is attempting to deflect responsability and is attempting to not teach her daughter to take responsability for her actions is not teaching her that the choices we make in life depending on what they are can have negetive or positive consequences.

Quit making excuses for your violent daughter. She could have found the girl outside & dealt with her the way she wanted. This 17 year old had no business touching the teacher. Arresting the girl who spat on her is also a good idea.
That, so-called mother, is as criminal as her daughter. Today, 8 years later, makes me wonder what sort of criminal record she now holds.
Parents are just setting their kids up for failure
As a teacher I learned to never get involved or try to break up fights between students. I know teachers who have been seriously injured and traumatized. Teachers need to call for backup and try to keep the other kids safe. Administration is trained in the deescalation tactics and any possible restraints they can perform.
Schools need to train staff to not get involved. I didn’t know until about 5 years into teaching, and it was only after hearing the stories of many teachers, which are similar to this one. That said, consequences are important. The parent and student are responsible. It should never escalate to violence.
So if a big student was beating the cr*p out of a smaller student, you wouldn't get "involved"? Just let the big student permanently injure the smaller student? Then have a good chat with the parents of the big student and "sort things out"?
@@JMARTIN1947 I would not get involved physically, no. Edited to say, I would immediately call for help. Administration and school security can break up fights better than I can. If it was life or death for the student being attacked, or they were unconscious or unable to defend themselves at all, then I would try to protect them. I would risk injury, being sued, or losing my license. It’s so hard to say exactly what I would do. High school students can be grown men. I can’t fight a grown man and win. I’m better at teaching punnett squares.
Mom isn’t helping her own child. Making excuses, enabling her kid’s criminal behavior. She thinks she’s helping but she’s already badly damaged her own kid with that approach.

It’s sickening seeing all the comments just pointing out the color of ones skin. This is NOT about race! This is about a mother who failed her child(ren).
