They punished the student because they knew it was gonna go on the Internet then court.
The school punishing her just made it 100% worse, this probably means they would lose money due to students leaving or not joining. So if they "knew" it was going to court, they wouldn't have punished her

Keegan Gidley they would never believe students I'm a student my teachers have lots of things us and they get away with it it's unfair and its makes us not want to learn and be a school as it's not safe and fair us
I had this one terrible teacher in 4th grade. I tried telling my parents about her but they thought I was overreacting. Then one day I broke and cried for 2 hours straight, keep in mind I was 9 or 10 at the time. Only after that did they actually believe me.
Turns out what she was doing violated school policy so she got demoted to teacher's assistant the next year.
nicole robinson is it on ur channel?
Keegan Gidley right
I’m a retired teacher and a classroom should NOT be a place where privacy is promoted. Classrooms should have cameras rolling at all times. If you’re doing your job you shouldn’t be afraid to have camera rolling. Children need to be protected and parents should have the right to know what is going on
Plus it is also very helpful for teacher’s protection too.
False allegations have hurt many a teacher’s reputation.
So cameras in classrooms should be a must!
Perfectly said. Teachers and children should be protected. One bad teacher gives the rest a bad name as well.
And a teacher being drove to protect themselves from say high school kid antagonizing them should be considered as well.
@ dona' little fawn
Camera footage isn’t the only reason why phones are normally banned during school hours. It’s also b/c it can be used for other inappropriate stuff. Like adult videos, cyber bullying, distraction from their academics, and cheating on tests. If she’s told not to record, she needs to follow school policy! Period!!
Yes for real, you said my words.
Torey Hayden did this all the time. Great books she wrote.
👍 maybe this is the Answer, Good Teacher's shouldn't have a problem with that
The school administrators believe that recording a teacher bullying a kid is worse than the actual bullying that caused the recording to be made in the first place.

Depends on the situation. So all we know, the kid was probably being defiant and the teacher must’ve rightfully scolded her and gave her a fair consequence. We don’t know the full story.

The bottom line is.. The school got butthurt for being exposed to its recklessness, so they decided to suspend the student that exposed the school for endangering not only the lives of the students but of their loved ones that they come home to, their Mother, Father, Siblings, especially their elders who are more susceptible like Grandma or Grandpa. Also anyone with a weakened immune system. Shame on the school for being reckless and Shame on the school for thinking it was okay for suspending her!!! Furthermore, because she got suspended by the school, it only makes people see the school for what it really is by trying to coverup its recklessness and trying to get into the student's head as well as other students by suspending someone the school thought they could scare others but failed!!!

This sweet kiddo essentially stood up for another student who was being bullied, and for that the school bullied her.
In the teacher's judgement, the teacher was motivating the student. Different kids need different kinds of motivation. That kid recording probably didn't have the same temperament as the kid she thought was being bullied. She may have ruined an opportunity for the teacher to reach the kid in a way that would only work for that kid.
@@fionamunro3381 Really? Think about it, whose judgement is more likely to fit the situation, a teacher who chose that profession to help kids or a kid who whose goal is to "get the teacher in trouble." I'd bet two bits that the kid didn't record out of altruism but instead did it because the teacher has been correcting her bad behavior and she got mad about it.
@@joeshithragman3264The mental gymnastics is crazy in you, apply for the Olympics. Students can be using phones for other reasons like cheating on tests, watching adult content videos, cyber bullying their classmates, and recoding other students, and being distracted away from their academics.
We just came from a pandemic that caused learning loss, now more than ever, kids need to focus less on making tik tok videos in class and more time on learning reading, writing, and math skills that they fell behind.

I had a 4th grade teacher I just hated going to her classroom. Math was my least favorite subject & I didn't understand a lot of it. This teacher didn't hide who her favorites were. They were the smart kids that never asked questions and always raised their hands. She made it obvious she had NO patience for me. It was my most miserable year of school, by far. The following year I had the sweetest, kindest, most patient teacher I had ever had. Best school year ever & I actually enjoyed learning math. Won second place in the class spelling bee that year with my best friend, who won first place. Those 2 years of grade school were like night and day, different. Many people have no idea how much a teacher can influence how you learn or don't learn. How miserable they can make learning for you. Many teachers may have good intentions but, truly should not be allowed to teach children anything because they should not be teachers!
@ Wyonative08
What kind of classroom environment was your 4th grade class? We’re most of the kids difficult and descriptive? Cause if so, that could be why she was frustrated, stressed, and favored the kids who were well-behaved. No teacher likes to deal with difficult kids just like how no customer service worker likes dealing with a Karen.
@@amylee8969 That's not true. No teacher goes into a classroom believing that all kids are going to be college bound sweethearts. Jig a boo justice- only in the USA
Especially when the teachers are doing the bullying. Trust me, I've had two and one of them doubles as a Guidance Counselor.
That's why I don't ask for help. I just deal with it myself. If I have to I 'bully' them back, if you will (I never have had to do something of the sort as forced karma, and I hope I never have too), self defense or tell them off verbally. If that doesn't work. Oh well. I'll work it out 🤷♀️
Bet she votes democrat
As a teacher I absolutely applaud this little girl for doing what she did.
Be careful, your union is probably monitoring your comments. They will put you on detention. ;) That said... * Applause * to you!
Seems you have missed your calling.
Yep I’m with you. We as teachers should always treat our students with the respect we expect from them.
You applaud her for breaking the law?
yeah even a teacher saying this was wrong
How can a teacher use improper English when speaking to kids? That teacher should be fired for speaking Ebonics at school.
That teacher needs to be FIRED and that school owes that child an apology PERIOD😡😡😡😡😡
Yeah no, you don’t get rights to privacy when you’re with our children.
Damn right! That should be the issue pursued here.
Straight up facts.
Your kids go there?
@@brettmastema7056 They're saying that when parents send THEIR children to another place, school, where it's FILLED with other adults that the parents might not even know, the school shouldn't say they have the right to privacy when they have CHILDREN THERE. Underage children. Ya know how many sexual abuse and death and abuse happens in school to children and they get told not to tell because it's "private?" Private my a$$, you're job is to teach and PROTECT the kids, not do whatever the hell you want. You don't get to have privacy in a school when you're in charge of caring for *SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD*
I still say she needs a lawyer. Most states if one person in the room knows its recorded its legal.
she did the right thing.
It is still illegal. Still the right thing though. An if I claim I didn't know murder is illegal does that mean I should be let go
Isabella M Turnbull yes she did
Isabella M Turnbull yeah
Brian McAuley Yeah, if you use it the wrong way.
Brian McAuley the First Amendment overrides the law!
Sooo, instead of blaming guns for school violence blame bullies! Whether it's a teacher or a student, there should be a "no bullying" policy. Thank you for having the guts to stand up against bullying. You should get an award, not suspension!
It's technically NEVER illegal for a child to exercise his or her rights.
They have rights too and schools go WAY too far when restricting kids from them.
there shouldn't ever be an "expectation of privacy" in a PUBLIC school that tax payers pay for... im sorry but that little girl had every right to do what she did
No. She literally didn’t. You legally can’t record a conversation that you aren’t involved in, as well, any conversations between a teacher and another student are protected under FERPA. She was violating the 4th Amendment Rights of everyone in that room. Doesn’t matter if tHe TaXPaYeRs PaY FoR iT. You can’t legally record a conversation without the consent of one of the people directly involved in the conversation regardless of whether you are in public or not.
@@rockerprincessSteph What the hell are you talking about? If you are in public and ask not to be recorded your in public! Have you not learned anything from the riots? As for FERPA a teacher told a child she was going to hurt said child-- what about the right of that child?
@@rockerprincessSteph this instance shouldn’t count considering what the teacher was doing. If a teacher is verbally and/or physically abusing students and the school isn’t doing anything about it, then that protection should be revoked.
Don't say sorry for being right Mizzy
@@rockerprincessSteph There are times when the law doesn't technically work in favor of what is actually the right thing to do.
I hope the week that child was suspended she was rewarded and treated to a week's free holiday from school by her parents because from what I see she was doing the right thing
Agreed.
A week were she misses all her school work and falls behind.
+Malcolm Has Da Kool Aid you are right. worse yet, what will teacher treat her like when that little girl goes back to class?!!
+Carla Bunn Ik
Malcolm Has Da Kool Aid the parents of the students should get together and protest.
That teacher should be punished.
Record them. Never stop. Post it everywhere online.
and then arrest them.
She did do the RIGHT THING. I dare a teacher tell my child “I will drop you”.
Sometimes "the adults" really are the crazy ones..
@@janetmcarthur5257 especially when it comes to our children , we might get a little crazy 😜
Every class room should have cameras in place so parents can see what is being taught to there children , lots of lunatic teachers out there now trying to indoctrinate our kids ,
@@maddog8274 If they want to see what's going on, let them schedule a visit. Perhaps you should read "1984".
I'd be going to that school and playing pick a hand with that teacher (Pick the hand I'm gonna slap you with)
"Do you think that they'd actually believe a student over a teacher?" yikes.
The worst part is that she's right, which gives her a bigger reason to record evidence in the first place
Sad, but true. The only real mistake the girl made was trusting another teacher to "do the right thing". Never trust cops, teachers or school leadership to "do the right thing" because they will always default to covering themselves from any legal exposure. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS take your recordings to the local media and anonymously expose these people for their bad behavior. That's the only way for any real change to happen. Public pressure from media exposure and reporters asking questions will cause the school to "act" and fire the teacher just to show they are "doing something". Otherwise, they will do nothing at all and will punish the student who is providing the information by hiding by a misrepresentation of a terribly vague law that was only meant to protect the privacy of people in bathrooms and dressing rooms. It was not meant to be used to "protect" people behaving badly in a public setting, like those instructing a room full of students.
The mother instinctively knew the school's treatment of her daughter was wrong and did the right thing by going to the media. Try to imagine for a moment how history would have been changed if the young girl who recorded the criminal actions of Derek Chauvin killing George Floyd had instead handed over her recording to a local police station instead of directly to the media.
I would.
When I was in 8th grade my teacher pushed me into the door as she was sending me to the office. I was a problem child and pissed her off daily on purpose. I told the principal EXACTLY what happened and I was called a liar. She’s hurt several more students since and as far as I know still works there.
If you were causing trouble, then you were clearly asking for it. It was your responsibility to follow rules and respect authority or you suffer the consequences.
That's the messed up thing they want to record us all day everyday but once we do....
Teacher - "I demand my right to privacy, while I bully a child for whom I have a duty of care".
Let’s be honest this sound waaay to intelligible to be a sentence that comes out of that teachers mouth
...odd isn't it???
No place should be more public than children’s classrooms. What teachers teach and say to children should be open for all to see and hear, especially the parents
Right its called public school for a reason
I urge parents to check out Freedom Learning and facilitate a healthy educational environment AT HOME!!!
Agreed.
I mean if she did by their logic... if she got the teacher permission to record then she would have no proof... if its a good reason and proof then why not lol also let me guess... bully a kid is okay but record for proof is not wtf
You're 7 years late mate.
It’s actually legal to record the teacher because it is in a public environment.
let me think about this hell no
