it all depends. there are different forms or slangs and accents of Spanish especially if your parents or guardians that raised you are from different regions then your Spanish may sound a bit different. I only speak a little but I've heard different types. some speak really fast, some kind of mumbled, some clearly, some you can tell learned in school, it just all depends
+Ashley Lopez ...Right, I think because English isn't my first language I've explained myself badly: I'm from Latin America (from Argentina, actually). I've spoken with people from different Spanish-speaking countries, and yes it is true that there are TONS of different accents. In fact, in Argentina we have a very particular way of speaking because we don't use "tú" but "vos" instead and we change aaall the verbs accordingly. I'm used to hearing different accents or ways of speaking Spanish, and usually the Spanish shown in american mass media sounds clearly off (and I'm sure you could say the same about English portrayed in other countries). This isn't the case, but it does sound a bit off? It's not entirely wrong, it just sounds unnatural to me.

Centerfold... the song by J. Geils Band? They had another hit off that same album. The title track "Freeze Frame" hit number 4 on the charts.
J Geils actually had a bunch of top 40 hits, not even close to being a one hit wonder.
Todd musical intros > Fantano's bass intros
Had to say it!!
As soon as I see Fantano holding the bass, I immediately skip forward 20 seconds! I often replay Todd's intros.
Todd did lead me to one of my favorite songs ever with Set adrift on memory bliss so ill always be indebted to him lol
Taco..........Grande.
I'm the exact right age to have heard this when it originally came out and yet I somehow avoided it until now.
You gotta cover Mellow Man Ace next! Heck, looking at the obscure ones or artists that even had a Hot 100 hit only once, Nolan Thomas...so many one hit artists to choose from
You should have included Other Joe also in there.
How are you going to mention Joe but not Pun?
Agreed.
I'm sure it was simply an oversight. But it still hurts.
7:57 Legendary George Clinton who is standing right there WAIT A MINUTE WHAT THE F
As someone from Glendale I love that photo you used. Tragically that Outback no longer exists, it got replaced with a home goods store
He looks like the result of a teleporter accident involving The Green Goblin and Menudo.
Oh Todd, I was already singing 'Baby you send me' before you even showed the fragment for the comparison. I can barely speak Spanish.
As a latina... I've never heard of this guy. But his spanish sounds kinda awkward, at least to me.
it all depends. there are different forms or slangs and accents of Spanish especially if your parents or guardians that raised you are from different regions then your Spanish may sound a bit different.
+Entropy Curse i dont know much about rico suave so no clue lol only that he is Ecuadorian and moved to California when he was young.
+Entropy Curse im from the states and ive heard this song so many times i am surprised i cant do the rap lol
If I had to guess it's because he's Ecuadorian. Not to mention Argentinian Spanish is quite divergent from much of Latin America.
2:48 "Living in a Box" playing in the background? Was this foreshadowing or a callback?
i find it funny how todd dissed the city he now LIVES in for this review.
I've heard the Wierd Al Parody dozens of times. But I honestly think this is the first I ever heard the original. And I grew up in the 90s haha
Lolz! Im 40... I do know almost all songs your showing on, from my youth xD but up to today I was sure that Rico slave is alter ego of Roger from American Dad xD
So, when do we get a PM Dawn "One Hit Wonderland"?
They had two hits: Set Adrift on Memory Bliss and their far bigger hit I'd Die Without You.
dagnabit, on so many levels...
three actually. "Set Adrift", "I'd Die Without You" and "Looking Through Patient Eyes"
I totally forgot about that song. Compared to their other two hits, Looking Through Patient Eyes isn't as memorable. Still, #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1993 qualifies as a third hit so kudos for reminding us.
Yeah, I can see why people wouldn't remember that song as much as the others. "Set Adrift" went to #1, "Die Without You" went to #3 while "Patient Eyes" only went to #6. That, and it heavily samples a more famous and much better song ("Father Figure by George Michael)
"Not because I'm sick, but cause I'm well" Did he predict the future of the 90s... in spanish?
Sigh. Damnit, I still sing the chorus of this and I do like the dancing in the video.
They interviewed him years later, he has a family and told of how embaressed he got when his kids saw the video. 😅
As my Mexican friends would say: ni rico, ni suave.
coming back here after todds tweet
coming back here just because it’s Tuesday
@ 7:33: that's it! Speedy Gonzalez + Pepe LePew + motorcycle jacket = Rico Suave
So I'm a native Spanish speaker. and his accent in Spanish sounds kind offf... not Hispanic.
Sounds like something playing on the radio that triggers Michael Douglas’s rampage in Falling Down, complete with car horn sound effects.
Why didn't he use Rico Suave as his stage nam and thank you for uploading this video Todd in the Shadows
FunFact : He was a hardcore gangster in the movie “COLORS”
Really? Havent seen the movie in decades but soundtrack was really popular in my part of Canada. Still, holds up well.
Taco Grande! Weird Al and Cheech Marin make for a great rap.
14:28 🎶 Succeed in the mainstream 🎶 (to the tune of Insane in the Brain)
A one man Menudo that avoided being rich and smooth
You left out the fact that he became a youth pastor and married an actual beauty queen.
I still like this one, and it's follow up "We Want The Funk". Gerardo's success was short-lived but he was all right with me!
Now George Clinton is working with Kendrick Lamar to "get in good with the critics"
.....George clinton doesn't need to get in good with the critics. He's a legend who almost every rapper ever has sampled
I have a request. How about "Rock On" by David Essex?
uuuhhhhh...Spandau Ballet much??? missed it.
"I hate this moron." Todd in the Shadows
I was drinking Pepsi when you said this and the out of nowhere comment made me laugh and spit up some of the Pepsi. Very well done.
Also when you get a chance of course you now owe me a Pepsi.
Story Time: I'm currently my name is Rigo im 27, and ever since the eighth grade I've always gotten the nickname Rico Suave, After getting the nickname for so many years, I finally looked up the music video recently and i'm proud to say that I do not regret 😂
thankz to this guy from my country Ecuador many artist today exist RICO !!! SUAVE!!! so I know rico means rich and suave smooth but in our culture or what he means when he say rico means when u are with that person that u like or u love and u are doing u know what or just kissing or touching each other he goes in that direction with Rico and Suave is smooth but suave means if u are dancing slowly touching the bodies or having sex enjoying the moment in slow motion I think u have in ur mind what I mean so that's SUAVE I know because is from my country and fuck yeah even Madonna want him and he didn't accept he was more like I choose who I want , nobody choose me. Thankz 4 the video bro!!
This is one of the few OHW songs that I actually hate more than Laffy Taffy so it hurts me that Todd actually learned it to play at the beginning
"Chronic shirtlessness" 😂😂😂
Thank you for ending on Taco Granda, I've heard that one far more... I love Al
10:51...Oh Todd...you didn't listen to all five of the other albums, did you? Virtual hug because of the coronavirus.
