WOW!!! Thanks for sharing this suggestion. Because of you and your videos I'm really excited to sit down and PAINT!!! I'm 85 yrs. old and whatever time I have left before I go on vacation with Jesus will be spent painting and being with my family. I appreciate all that you do and look forward every morning to spending time with you. I pray God will richly bless you as you share your gift with the world.
Bless you, dear Marlene. You brought tears to my eyes. Did you read the book by Rebecca Springer about her time in heaven, when she was in a coma in the 1800s? It blessed me and I love your statement that we will be vacationing with Jesus. THANK YOU AND MAY YOU LIVE AS LONG AS YOU WANT TO.
I didn't read that particular book, but I did read 23 minutes in heaven(?) which was incredible. My daughter has a tough time accepting the fact that I will leave this earth so it eased things for her by saying "no Mom, you're going on vacation with Jesus" which helps her accept the fact of my dying. Thank you for your kind words.
I don't know Sandy, I really thought that the bookmarks that had the sunset sky on them, looked very ethereal. It really felt like they were scenes of the softness and comfort we receive from having faith in our Lord. They all really turned out so beautiful and really inspire me. Thank you for sharing your creativity and awesome ideas. Sincerely, Katz
One of the things that holds me back from practicing is that I see mistakes as wasting. This is a GREAT idea for putting your practice experiments to good use!!! Thanks for sharing this simple and extremely practical idea. Your bookmarks turned out beautifully.
Me too. I feel I have to get it right the first time, or forget it, & that puts pressure on me and I end up thinking better of doing the practice at all!
I cannot express strongly enough how much I value you and your creativity. You are in a class of your own... professional without the hard sell, 'human" because you appeal to all abilities and you are just normal. I love all your social media stuff (especially pupdates) but really I just wanted to say thank you for such high quality FREE advice and guidance. You are the Y17 of youtube imho
I've had this idea for using practice painting in paper crafting for awhile. Thank you for the ideas and techniques for ways to actually do it. Bookmarks are one of my favorite things to make.🐱
What a great idea to turn watercolors into something more beautiful. Hope to try this sometime. Like that you framed them up in black which makes it classy and can't see splatters from other side of bookmark. These would make great little gifts and easy to mail.
I really love these. Actually I see so much in these extra paintings. I can not imagine what the ones that you keep look like. I have been for the first time in my life actually sitting down and just practicing. I am 58 years old, disabled and spend most of my time in bed. Even do my practicing in bed. ( I have a lot of pain in my back and pelvis. Plus I have a rare form of Lupus) RUclips is my friend for sure, lol. I love this idea, even with other mediums. Thank you so much. I would love more videos like this if you have the time.
Nearly all the cards I give away now also have a bookmark with them. I have the same stamp sets, plus a ‘book’ theme set. I think my favourite of yours are the tulip fields ones. I love how they still retain the scenes. I hope they bring lots of money to your church fundraiser!
A great idea! There are lots of projects you can use your paintings that didn't turn out like you wanted to.. like tags for presents or backgrounds for cards.. Thank you for the inspiration!!
Great video! I've taken "not so wonderful" watercolor paintings and cut them up for ATC backgrounds. I did one with watercolor on Yupo that I cut up for a series of ATCs. Wouldn't you know I forgot to take a picture of the painting!! And you're so right - these are a great way to use up those pieces without trashing them, and if the attempt doesn't work out you've really lost nothing. Thanks for the inspiration!
I've been doing this for awhile now and my collection of bookmarks is growing. It really has freed me up to practice more, knowing I'm not wasting paper!
First, the original paintings were great by themselves. I especially LOVED the Earth Day painting. That being said, I am absolutely floored with what you did to turn them into bookmarks! What a cool idea. I am involved with a Christian Theatre called Stained Glass Theatre. I think I might make my own version of these to possibly use as gifts for the cast and crew of the play that I will be assistant director for later this year. Bookmarks would be especially great for this particular play. Thanks for the idea!
I'm currently taking your Fresh Floral water color class on your art-classes.com website & given the choice, I chose to watch this video on YT. Your classes are amazing! As always, thanks for sharing your time & creativity!!!
I love this idea! What I did with some of my paintings: I cut them into geometric figures and created a collage. I've also washed the painting under running water and repainted some areas: it turned out great because then the painting had dimension.
Thank you for the information. Your work is wonderful and I enjoy watching your videos and your postings on Instagram. They are so helpful and informative. Thanks again! Oh yes, I love the antics of your pets! They are so cute!!
Oh my goodness, these are gorgeous Sandy. I loved the buildings in those paintings. I was saying NOOoooo...but you did! LOL They are still gorgeous though!
I bought a watercolor notebook, which is watercolor paper spiral bound, maybe 5 x 7. It is my practice book, my art journal. I don't think of it as wasting paper. It's fun to look back at it. I write comments in the margins as to techniques, colors, etc.
Such great ideas and truly beautiful work! Although I admit when you painted over the buildings I literally gasped... "NO!" lol ... I loved that they were there.. but.. to each his own.. and the end result was so gorgeous I had to "forgive you" *chuckle* ... And this does address the issue of not wanting to waste paper by experimentation.. guilty.. SOO guilty! Along with larger watercolor works, I do a lot of greeting cards.. A LOT .. And this idea is perfect.. The gears are turning full speed now.. This is an Awesome demo!! THANKS!! :)
Beautiful 💚💜💛 love the colours with the first set of bookmarks love love bright colours. Never been one for word or verse stamps, I must admit I may be changing my way of thinking. ...lol💜
I'm not a painter like you, but I do have a lot of experimental projects. Most of the time I toss them, but I've saved a few because of the pretty colors. Thanks for the idea! Perfect. :)
Sandy, thanks for this video. I'm always looking for ways to use up pieces that are quite what I wanted. You've given some great examples here. Those sentiment stamps are so inspiring. Going to check them out.
What a fantastic idea!!! I've been playing with backgrounds, as I'm not an artist at all, but could use some of them for bookmarks. Just love this idea! Thanks Sandy!!! 😎
I love your video/tutorial... and "Thank YOU" very much for NOT having annoying background music... and not having the loud noise of your heat gun. GREAT VIDEO...
That is so funny. A few days ago I took scraps and watercolor I didn't like and made bookmarks. Even crazier, I used Bible stamps too. I needed some bookmarks for my Bible study books. I have Hebrew and Greek study books. A lot of books. They look great! I put white card stock on the back so I could write notes on the back.
I love how you use what done that was a blessing images and stamped christian verses. i writer and author of christian poems and i also include verse from Holy bible too.

You made my day too! :)

there needs to be a love button. I love this idea for pictures that didn't quite turn out. repurposing at it's best.
I love this idea! It takes pressure off, worrying about a painting that might not turn out well. All your bookmarks turned out lovely.
One of the things that holds me back from practicing is that I see mistakes as wasting. This is a GREAT idea for putting your practice experiments to good use!!! Thanks for sharing this simple and extremely practical idea. Your bookmarks turned out beautifully.
One of the best things about papercrafting is that there is so little waste. Enjoy!

I LOVED the earth day painting! Made awesome bookmarks, but really liked the whole.
I'm ready to start practicing. I love the idea of using them as bookmarks.
These came out beautiful! I love seeing ideas on how to save things I'm not happy with... because sometimes I have more craft fails than wins!
Thank you so much. I forget that my painted attempts aren't permanent. You inspire me.
This is WONDERFUL! What a great way to save something you thought was ready for file 13. Thank you.

Very clever and loved how they came out!
nice! I do this with greeting cards out of a completely stained blotter from my art table that I cut up & combine different ways.
