Good Monday Morning too you -- from Maine. Enjoyed listening to your review of these books, I had added the Lucinda Riley to my list some time back. I really enjoy her books. I am at the beginning of the Kate Shackleton series - don't hear this one talked about to much - love the covers! I will be keeping an eye out for 'Lust for Life' - thank you!! have a great reading/traveling week! 😊

      Good Morning Jacqueline,
      Thank you for lovely comment.
I enjoyed the Kate Shackleton mystery and will definitely buy the next book I see, in this series. It is an entertaining series. I enjoyed the plot of this one too!
'Lust for Life' is just wonderful. I would be interested to know what you think of it once you read it. It was an interesting view on Vincent's life, remembering that it is fiction but written with facts through Vincent's letters to Theo. I particularly liked the fact that it was written in 1934 when, likely, there were people still alive, who knew him. Do let me know once you have read it.
      Happy reading and safe travels

I loved the Seven Sisters series too,as I do her stand alone novels. I'm so happy the Vincent van Gogh book was so wonderful,it's always so gratifying to read a great book. And yes you pronounced his last name perfectly, with the hard G! 🙌🏻 I truly disliked Wintering so much 🙈 It was recommended to me so I bought it and read it and after I read it I asked the lady why in the world she recommended it. Turned out she hadn't read it herself, just read a lot of good reviews about it 😂 I know it's a popular book but I just didn't like it at all 🙊 I love the new setting, and I'm proud the daisies have moved to the new room as well 🥰 Thank you for a lovely video,it's my Monday morning treat, and have a great week in Winter! 💕

      Good Morning Anne,
I really enjoyed the Seven sisters series also. It was well written. The Murders at Fleat house was ok but as I said, not my favourite.
I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy Wintering'. I am interested to know what you did not like about it. Was it the writing?, the content?the subject? Do let me know, as I did enjoy it' Although simple in its delivery, I thought the idea of 'wintering' and accepting it, is something people need to hear if they struggle with life.
The daisies will likely be a regular feature in the book videos. They brighten my day!🥰
Thank you, as always, for watching. You brighten my day!
      Happy reading and safe travels

Well,it's been a while since I've read Wintering, but I remember I was so very annoyed with the writer. She was so egocentric,it felt like one looooong complaint about how complicated her life was and how misunderstood she was. Wasn't there something about her husband needing emergency surgery? And instead of being supportive she started complaining about how this complicated her life and her time ..I was just baffled. I thought it would be a book about how to deal with life's storms, but it was all about her and I felt it was a book about self indulgence in not a positive way. It to me seemed to promote selfishness and not taking responsibility (didn't she quit her job because she was misunderstood at work or something...). And I remember her child being bullied in school and instead of dealing with it and helping her child deal with bullies so that he/she has a basis to handle tough things in life, she decides to take him/her out of school and 'run away' to do fun things. It was just an irritating book to me. I did finish it because I kept hoping for more but it was shallow, self centered poppycock in my eyes and it went to the thrift shop right away. Sorry if it's a bit disheveled and I don't mean any disrespect but I just really disliked that book so much 🙈💕

Yes, you are correct. I did feel the same when the author appeared to be more annoyed or non-plussed with her husband's illness. I thought that was selfish, but then she went on to talk about taking care of yourself and gave the experience of friends and their way of dealing with issues as examples of how to cope.
I did not get the same impression as you, that she complained about her life or how difficult it was. Overall, I was given the impression that she was simply talking about the need to 'hibernate', to self-care in challenging times.
That is the benefit and fun of reading and sharing with others, because we all see something in a book that others may not. I may re-read it in a few months and see if I feel the same as you or not.
      Love our chats,

Oh yes me too,it's so fun to have these little chats! Well, you are certainly in the majority, because after I read it I went to look at the reviews and most of them are full of praise. I can't give it a second try because I couldn't stand to see that book on my shelves so I immediately gave it away 🙈 But now I'm thinking there is still hope for 'The Salt Path' for you!! I didn't dislike it as much as this one but I thought it was just uninteresting, and who knows, you may love it!! Isn't it funny how people can feel so different about the same book and see completely different things...fascinating!! 💕
