Keep doing these quick reviews. Loving the variety of positive and negative reviews. So helpful in knowing which games to investigate further and which to avoid playing
Yeah, I miss the shorter reviews in general. Dice Tower reviews used to be ~6 minutes but the combined reviews can reach 20+ minutes and I just don't have the time for those.
@@BoardGamesBricksHobbies I enjoy short reviews but I also like combined ones. The combined ones have time stamps for final scores (which usually have a brief statement about why that score) and I can rewind and watch the discussion if I want to. I like the mix because I get to see multiple perspectives on a game and figure out where my opinion might lie.
In Aurum, you forgot to mention the rule where you can spend a gold card to change your bid on the number of tricks you can win. I REALLY enjoy this game. I feel it has just enough added to make it unique and not a bear to teach.
I feel like Aurum deserves a higher score. Just because some people can't wrap their head around the complexity of it doesn't mean it deserves a lesser score. I'd say it's as complex as Cat in the box or even the Crew. My group is in love with playing Aurum, and I'm at least glad Tom likes it.
Dungeon Doors is a great game which we have played with all different types of gamers and everyone has had a great time playing it. The guys who made it put a lot of time into the game and did a lot of playtesting over the years it was in development. There is also an excellent APP to use when playing the game. The game is very fun and it works best with a larger player count. Reviews are opinions and everyone likes and dislikes different games, that is the nature of a review and board gaming. With that said, Dungeon Doors was developed here in the Phoenix area the designers were at all the local gaming events playtesting the game, getting feedback and improving the game. Again, I play it numerous times with numerous different people and it was always a good time.
Out of curiosity, why did Invincible get a 3 if you hate everything about it? What does a game have to do to get a 2 or a 1? Is it generally for broken games & almost unusable components and such?
In this instance, Dungeon Doors is more broken and less enjoyable than Invincible, so 'beats' its 3. And if you want to see how mild Tom's hatred of Invincible is, check out his review of 'Oneupmanship', which well earned its 1. :)
There are dozens and dozens (probably hundreds) of trick-taking games that are all ever-so-slight variations on each other. You can hardly tell the difference. Tom means that current games really need to have a distinguishable "twist" to them to appeal to modern gamers.
@@WilliamRLynch one can argue all those hundreds of game also needed to distinguish themselves to have their own name. However, at one point in time, it made sense to have 'just a slight difference' and not a big one. Anyway, it's potato potato. I know what he meant. But every trick taking game has a difference by definition, otherwise they ate the same game. It used to be a slight one and now it's a far less slight one.
This review format is flawed. How are people supposed to find a review of a specific game when you put several games together like this? None of the games' names are in the title. I though the purpose of reviews was for people to be able to find them.
Well then, I have wonderful news for you! 1. All the titles are in the description. 2. We post them all separately, with their names, on our Dice Tower Encore channel. Huzzah!
dude just doesnt rest. i dont know how he has the energy. i suspect it's the hats.
We could power all of Europe on Hat Power.
Hat-powered reviews
😂 ok

Aurum looks very interesting! Are we in the middle of a trick-taking renaissance?
The Sushi Rush explanation made me think of the game Bed Bugs that I had as a kid.
Really like the format with the short explanation 😊

@@BoardGamesBricksHobbies yup, I'm the same. It's as if creators are trying to appease the algorithm more than the viewer.

@@BoardGamesBricksHobbiesjust skip the gameplay walkthrough part tho and it's more like 10 min
@@JonReid01 but that's the thing, I like seeing how the game works. I can't tell if I'll like a game based on just opinions.
thanks for the reviews-direct, hilarious 🤣
Love these multi reviews bro!
I'd gladly play Aurum with you Tom, I love potato man so it looks like my cup of tea.

Thank you very much for these reviews! I love this style of muliple game reviews of smaller games.
Picked up Archeos at Gen Con and my game group is really digging it
this is punny
I have dungeon doors and I agree with Tom. The art work isnt that great as well. I thought it would be great as a portable D & D card game. Nope.
i didn't quite get if Tom liked Dungeons Doors or not
Aurum is fantastic.

Ive not seen a game where you use chopsticks to pick up things. Is there one that anyone here would reccomend?
Man, Mantic just reusing the same dice and cubes from the Hellboy Board Game is a little sad. Thought they were a better company than that.
The blue die is new, but yes the exact same game play with Invincible characters pasted onto the cards.
Push your aspect 😂
boxes not cute 🫤 tree houses’d be cuter 😊

@@Dragon7398 this i need to see lol. Thank you!
Don't all Trick Taking games need to have something unique? not just recent ones...
I mean, otherwise, they would all be the same...

Dungeon doors is pretty much the boring level 1 combat encounters of D&D, without any of the role playing…
You can tell Tom doesn’t like a game when he says “fine” “whatever” or “i guess?” during his review
the invincible game looks good to me but i'm not a hard core gammer either.. i like light games.
I wouldn’t call Archeos a reprint since half the game is different.
