"This is just the way I do it." Proceeds to play the most beautiful shit you've ever heard.
You’re a real guitarist man. No noodling just pure feel and exploration. The most important thing is you don’t fear silence or space - you harness it and fill it really beautifully so the payoff is well earned. I’ve seriously listened to it like 20 times and it just keeps getting better
Modern day guitar hero, I bet some kid will pick up a guitar because of you.
Thank you for the music.
Im so happy music is finally taking the turn it needed... 😁👊
Yes he’s great. We can’t forget how blessed we are today. Gary Clark Jr., Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales, Derek Trucks. So blessed! Rock on 🤘🏼
I’m 16, I didn’t pick up the guitar because of him, but he changed slide for me. Him and Joey made me reimagine how I could use a slide, and in doing so changing my non-slide playing. I’m eternally greatful to Joey and Ariel for their music.
And some will throw a guitar down because of him as well
The guitar is not dead!
I just got recommended that solo video 6 minutes ago and now you've posted this 41 minutes ago... Welp there's some divine shit.
Yup, something is happening
Me too! This was cool. I miss playing electric with all kinds of pedals.
@@bratislavdragic3059 What is happening is called Sundar Pichai and AI algorithms, for better for worse ;)
@@brisleeadams thanks, (I understood it wasn't some kind of magic but I didn't really know what it's called). It is still unthinkable to me that I got to channel with 15k+ subs by watching a suggested video on 600 subs. I guess people shared it a lot or something... Never mind, I am thankful whatever it was.
Same here
The dude is so humble.
This is one of the realest lessons I've heard in MANY years, there is SO MUCH pressure on younger guitarists to do the crazy shit they saw in the short clip, ignoring all the context around it, the silence that allows the sound to pop out, the mellow parts which allow the peaks to ring through, the evolution, phases, and psychedelic journeys you can take people on when you take a step back and play from your heart.
INCREDIBLE
Man you're this generation's guitar hero!! You should be proud!
I've never seen such a gap between Likes and Dislikes on a video... that's just how good this solo is
I literally just saw this yesterday and followed him. Dude killed it
I did it this moment. Exactly the way he described.
Same here!
Same 😁
Same
Ariel at least for me is a genius. Just impressive artistry.
Michael Palmisano brought me here... not upset about that. What a killer solo.
I found the viral solo you mentioned from Michael Palmisano's reaction video to it in which he changed the title to "The Best Solo I've Heard in 12 Years". Instant fan, fantastic player. Great song to cover as well.
@Shred5 just for sake of accuracy, Palmisano didn't change the title to, "The Best Solo..."; That's the title the original poster gave it. So, Palmisano is just informing us which video he's reacting to.
@@Sloozer45 for the sake of accuracy, if you're going to correct someone you should at least make sure you're not full of shit. He did in fact change the title by dropping the end off the title, as the full title is "Possibly the best guitar solo I’ve heard in 12 years of owning a music venue! Keep Watching!"
Removing the end gives it a completely different context.
I love your humility.
Ariel seems like the nicest guy, humble and a beast of a player! Not to mention smooth smooth vocals 🙌🏻
Canadian 🤷🏻♂️
You would think since this “algorithm” is so great for all of us it would have recognized I listen to your solos like they’re albums and it would have recommended this video....
instant fan, for the playing but also for the words.
I quit playing guitar after 15 years and i'll tell ya I'm picking it back up your an inspiration...thank u I think your amazing
That's how you make music, that's how it should go. Wise words from a real Musician who really knows how to use everything he can do on the instrument..and he proves it in every note he plays.
....beautiful
Low tuned fuzz guitar just sounds so amazing.
Yes, I'm here because I saw the Lil's Club Vid....SWEEET!
I've followed all the great guitarists since the sixties. Jimi Hendrix was one of the most original, but this solo equals anything I've ever heard. Ariel is one of the best and most original of the lot.
I literally listened to this solo (and discovered you and your music) two days ago, and I’ve been coming back to it. And then this video comes along!
It’s certainly a unique and special solo, I love how expressive it gets with the slide and volume dynamics.
Congratulations, I look forward to hearing more.
Dude, you've become one of my favorite musician's in a matter of days. I think the part I'm most insecure about in my band/guitar playing in general is my soloing. You gave me some really good advice that I'll take with me forever.
By the way, you can bet that when this is over that I'll be at the front row at your next show!
I probably listened to this some 10k times, the live version on spotify is just fenomenal! And solo for is one of the best solos ever heard, musical storytelling! Much love and respect from 🇲🇦 🇲🇦 🇲🇦
I watched the solo two days ago and on the spot fell in love with it, and now there's this... I guess gods of guitar are telling me something
Thank You for sharing this with us. Always good to get out of our own heads and think of other ways to tune/play. Best Regards and Best Wishes for 2023!
Love that the highlight of the solo is a melody. The "chops" thing sets if up, put the part that gets people in the feels is melody.
It’s nice to see an electric ensemble playing with dynamics! I had a friend that said about jazz school in the 90’s that dynamics was a graduate-level course! 8-)
The algorithm brought me here and I’m so glad it did. Such a unique and amazing guitarist!
I’ve been listening to your songs everyday for over a 3 weeks now. I just can’t stop.
U r the absolute most original guitarist I have ever seen since jimi hendrix theres sheep n theres shepherd's u r another head fuck I never heard this sound b4 n I know I wont hear it again what n absolute legend!!!
legit changed my life dawg. you are appreciated and you made a difference in my life and so many more. keep kicking ass
Ariel- I've been a fan of yours for several years now. I first heard you with the Landreth bros. Some of my favorite acoustic playing on RUclips is the demos you did for Lowden guitars! As I'm guessing you've seen, Michael Pamisano (guitar teacher reacts) uploaded a reaction to one of your live shows. Joey has been a guest on one of his live react videos. I keep waiting for YOU to be one of the guests!
Sending peace & love from Missouri, USA -Todd
That solo made me pick up the guitar again
That solo made me go out and spend a grand for another one lol
me too
Literally same i saw it 4 days ago
i’ve watched it a dozen times, and it gets better EVERY TIME!
Man.... Ariel is the man.. He's the complete package.
very unique phrasing
this guy is the real deal
Dude, this is such a generous thing to give us. Thanks hey, I'm really touched you'd make this vid.
My 12yr old will have weeks of pausing and rewinding ahead!!
Cheers.
I heard you for the first time last night, watching in awe of your fretwork on this song (apparently blowing the mind of the venue owner) and now here you are talking about it.
How fortuitous.
Same here.
Best guitar player I've heard in years. Awesome man.
Love Ariel's cascading licks, some sick behind-the-slide techniques.
Ariel: i’m going to tune down, capo up, play in the key of E, in the G position.
Me: i played drop D this one time...
😂😂
Now THAT'S funny!!!
That video just popped into my feed. Amazing solo man. Will come to the thekla gig!!
You have the chops and the ear to be the next great guitarist
This was epic live, back in the good old days of normallity
That solo Mesmerized me .. awesome dude ty.
I just watched it 20 minutes ago to find out this was uploaded 20 minutes ago.
To detailedly explain a solo and your place from which you approach it, is such an amazing offer to those who are starting out. I sincerely hope that those watching understand what a gift this is. (Huge fan here from watching Anderton's all those years ago!) Enjoy all your posts, respect, Ariel!
amazing
AWESOME…really great to hear you explain this.
The solo is bad ass. That guitar is bad ass. Cheers!🍻
THIS MAN IS A NATIONAL TREASURE. PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS.
🤩 nicely done , finger pickin good
such a generous guy to share his craft to everyone. classy!
Thank you so much for this video
Ariel, you are hands down one of my new guitar heroes. Keep inspiring us with your art. 👏👏👏
That solo made me cry!!!! It still does.
The runs down, down, down he catches it lovely swelling make me want to play my guitar again. 😂😂
i saw that solo and your voice and now im obsessed with your music, amazing job.
I think i have heard that solo more than 1000 times (not kidding) i have download it and uploded it on spotify. BIG FAN!
"It's sounds pretty nasty. I really like that" Hilarious. Great stuff, man. Really great.
Thanks!!!
Love this. Thanks for the tips!
You were my best guitar discovery in recent years. Killer, killer tone. Unique. Authentic. Unreal note choices. Once this is all over i wanna see you live, hopefully in Toronto.
Yes sir!!
Ariel is the Jim root of blues
That totally made sense to me and I don't even play guitar (or can read music at all)
You are right! That solo clip was why I watched and also subbed a sec ago. I did visit another video of yours and I really enjoyed the blending of your voice with the woman singing backup, and shoutout to her😁. Good stuff, I'll nose around some more
Man the way you accent every single note is a thing of beauty! Really enjoyed this video
I was recommended this yesterday and I've probably watched it 10 times since, absolutely insane !! This changed my view of the instrument really, when you think almost everything has been discovered on the guitar and yet in 2020 someone comes with his own distinctive sound like this.
I need * Trucks, Posen, Dan Toppo, and Landreth * all to have a 4 hour long live set. All slide, trading off slide solos on a super swampy slow blues the entire time.
That’s awesome.
Just a few hours ago I made an Instagram story with the ‘hot’ part of this solo.
Your style and your sound, combined with the resolutions you found and the mix between minor and major feelings made this a piece of art.
the great part of it is that you named it 'that solo' and I instantly knew it was THAT one
Just notice that one of those live clips was performed at the Louisiana in Bristol! I'm so gutted that I missed that!
I am new..and you are ACE. 🙇♂️
I discovered you when 'Joey went on @palmisano's channel mid September. Ive been going through some "real life shit" lately, the way you do what you do, has been helping me keep my head screwed on like none other..for the most part lol.. I owe it to you dude. Thanks for what you do ...Its a blessing to be apart of it! Cheers brother! From a fellow Canadian.
Love this insight thanks
How have I not heard of this guitar god?
First of all, thank you RUclips for this string of awesome recommendations...
We needed some guy like You, who opened the door to a complete new guitar world.
I got really into your music about a year ago (after your most recent TPS episode), and I distinctly remember the first time I heard the Angeline solo on Familiar Ground. I was just agog. Such a clear statement of voice! So it’s really cool to hear you walk through the process and highlight how it’s about ideas/checkpoints/motifs and above all, honesty-not about exact maneuvers.
Killer perspective Ariel. Great playing and smokin tone. Thank you for the inspiration and insight. I'll be back. F
Sensational.
Duane Allman would definitely be impressed by your slide playing
Insights on how to develop musical ideas are always appreciated (much more than only technical stuff). High level musicianship here. You are great Ariel.
thanks for the video, very useful !
Thank you for the breakdown, your philosophical approach, and the encouragement. Big heart, big spirit.
Love the sound you have here. Very unique and interesting. Super tasty licks throughout
Man this is amazing, thanks for doing this
Inspirational solo...
That vi minor to major, to ii minor move just opened up a world of stuff. Thanks!
What!!! Thank you for posting this, can't wait to see you perform live
Yep came from that vid. Amazed. You deserve more recognition!
The algo did something right for a change and put that solo up for me,, to be fair, i do play and use a lot of backing tracks on youtube as well as coaching vids, so I suppose you were bound to come up sooner or later,, Thank you for taking the time to discuss what you feel about playing and improvising and while you have many more tools in your toolbox than I have its good to hear from you the things that I also think about playing and improvising and just finding your own feel and music, I feel like im on the right track,, thank you !!
Seeing that video, that solo, and at least 2 other versions, makes me want to see/hear them all. Those are some incredible jams and the whole band is fantastic. Through the entire jam, the rythm rhythm section keeps the pocket perfectly, no matter what you did rhythmically. I'm truly blown away!
Thanks for this amazing video, Ariel! Love it!
I've always loved your work and your talk about honesty is very appreciated!
Man, just top shelf playing, found it a few days ago and watched it several times already. Love it. Cheers
My face basically melted with that solo 🤯... That's why I hit the subscribe button
Very good, articulate and thoughtful in your approach to this lesson/explanation/pep talk as you are on guitar. I remember the piece you are referring to, probably went viral among guitarists a while back, perhaps a year or less and it was notable. My ears perked up and i felt what you were putting down for sure. You're right, a minimal approach is often best. Less is often more. There are also times when more is more, depends on the vibe one is conveying. I like the indian classical motifs you weave in there and hear that that is an aspect of your style, like Harry Manx perhaps, of that ilk. So yah, as guitarist to guitarist; respect and thanks.
