So I have an epiphone les paul and just got gibson les paul. I was actually responsible and I put my epiphone next to the couch where i play it without an amp. I just know I would be the shit out if my table with that gibson but I've yet to hit it eith the eppy of course😂
But when he plays wrong and keeps playing it over to get it more better? There is no one else who does this, it is as entertaining as someone who has mastered his piece before the performance.

Mind blowing? Guitarrists in the early days of electric guitars used 18 gauge strings...In standard tuning. Guitars are designed to take way heavier gauges than what most people use. 17 gauge in B-standard will feel around the same as 11-12 in standard tuning.
Man I love Ariel! Little info about this, he’s in baritone tuning (B standard), and he’s playing 17-64 strings. I highly, highly recommend you check out the full version of the song, it’s such an incredible take on it. The familiar ground version is incredible. Much love Michael!
This guy Ariel Posen has an innate understanding of a buildup of great sounds hinting and teasing then climaxing. It's such a luxuriant treat for my ears and brain. The grungy guitar sound is reminiscent of one of the tracks in The Wall (PF 1979) Great analysis Mr guitar teacher
After I read your comment sir, I listened to this song again and thought to myself, wtf is this dude talking about? But since I am not one who is cut from common cloth, instead of making some ignorant misinformed comment to you I decided to listen to a couple of The Wall’s more hard hitting tracks, and well... If you were any more right about this, you’d be going left. I have it on factual files, it had been a few years since I listened to The Wall so I couldn’t catch the familiar vibes that Ariel is emanating! Hell yeah! Also, I agree. I’m so glad that YT recommended me Ariel, I do love me a scary talented six string picker. Or in this case, slider. First time hearing Angeline I was taken on a journey of harmonics. Dude is a legit maniac.
I used to go to Ariel Posen shows in Winnipeg back when i was just out of High School. So cool to see him blowing up these days. He has been amazing since i first saw him in mid 2000's, and just got so much better from there!
I've seen Ariel posen playing "bright music" like major blues with Josh Smith and Kirk Fletcher at NAMM... But this "dark music", the minor blues? He absolutely owns that pallette with a fury and passion. It is an Incendiary performance!
I must say for I cannot deny it. This solo is my most favorite of all time. The slow, voodoo, witchcraft vibe is straight nasty! His mix of Jazz chops with blues licks with that dirty slide....holy crap, man. Ariel is driving away everyone's demons with this one!
I’m never here this early but wow, Ariel is SICK! Watching you react to some of those runs is exactly how I felt watching it haha And HIS BAND. LOCKED IN

Ariel came on social media with a post explaining how he constructed this solo. The waypoint cues they've worked out over the course of the tour and how he approached the chord tones. The other benchmark I have for an insane build over a 2 chord vamp is this Matt Schofield live version of Where Do I Have To Stand. ruclips.net/video/TVi9xrNtUr8/видео.html I'm exhausted by the end every time I watch it. I've talked to Matt about this and he said that although he doesn't watch videos of himself, quite a few people have mentioned this particular recording to him as their favorites.
I have seen Ariel live twice and they were the two best gigs in my life. Amazing energy and pure talent. I think he might be an upcoming guitar hero of the new generation.
It’s an absolute conundrum that this dude isn’t bigger. Him and Joey bring such a unique approach to the guitar with the baritone tuning and incredible slide work, not to mention his killer voice! Always entertaining videos mike, thank you!

The first slide I bought is one of his brass bullets and it's kinda become my go-to slide. You also can never go wrong listening to this lad. I also gotta say, it's been a while since I saw you have to think so hard watching someone play!
Just so everybody can have a good laugh for today + I learned slide by playing steel guitar, about 2 years after I started playing acoustic. So, in later life I stole one of my husband's sockets to use as a slide! Hey, works a lot better than the handle of a table knife!

Ariel is a phenomenal player, him and Derek Trucks are the reason I picked up a slide. I'm not usually one to request, but have a look at I'm So Afraid by Fleetwood Mac (the performance from The Dance). Perhaps not the most technical solo you'll ever hear, but probably one of the best from what I'd consider to be a criminally underrated guitarist!
I have just stumbled upon your channel and WOW, I love it. I have watched so many of your videos today and I have found so many songs that I like. My favorite is Tyler Childers, Ive listened to his songs for awhile now and it has inspired me to learn the guitar. I have always wanted to learn. My two favorite songs of his are Feathered Indians and Charleston Girl. Charleston Girl is the song that got me into Tyler and I have loved his songs ever since. Keep up the great work and I will definitely be watching more of your videos!!!
I love watching a musician enjoy another virtuoso musician. When I watch a really great guitarist I am grooving so hard just like Michael is here, and it's so confusing to me sometimes to watch people just standing there watching like it isn't insanely impressive.
Only thing I can say is I'm honored to find he's from Winnipeg, Manitoba.....where I'm from. He is definitely help put our little place on the map. Very proud to have talent of this caliber come from this humble Canadian City. Biiiiig fan of John Martyn btw. 👍🔥
Watch the version of this (Angeline) from the “Familiar Grounds” video. 🤦🏼♂️ At the 8:30 mark he clicks that pedal and soars off into another goddamn dimension....Unbelievable 👍🏻👍🏻
He came to Edmonton last November on his album release tour and finished the show with this song. Everything before it was something I’d heard before and as stellar as it was I was sooooo completely unprepared for the this finale. Genuinely one of the most incredible things I’ve ever had the pleasure to see live!!
I was going to say ,"you might as well just sit back and watch." I watched it on a 36" monitor and you could see that the strat was a custom build, and it is maybe hollow steel, from the missing paint under his arm. and the alternate tuning. It's probably a "Mule" resonator guitar.

I think Ariel Posen's music and playing is great and this is a very interesting solo. I doubt however that Ariel would cite this as his best solo. I stand ready to learn otherwise.

Also, his guitar is made out of steel.
