Oh my goodness you are a Godsend my man!!! I’ve had my 11 Ranger for about 13 years now, and maybe about 3-4 years ago in the middle of Covid, my AC airflow was starting to go down and these 3-4 past summers I’ve just been suffering and didn’t really have the money to take it in to the shop and I’d just ride with the windows down. I’ve looked up so many videos on YT in the past years and all they said was “cabin filter” and I’m like no Ranger before 2011 had one, or videos talking about the blower motor or resistor. But idk how I came across your video yesterday, I wish it popped up years ago! And dude it worked, followed everything step by step and magic!! I knew in my heart it wasn’t a serious AC problem because it’s been blowing out cold but just weak, all the speeds work, and I knew there was just a clog somewhere that’s preventing the airflow from coming through. Thank you so much man!! Saved me a trip/money from going to the AC shop and them probably ripping me off to change the whole AC system or lines whatever when all I really needed was to clear the screen! And mine was way worse than this video, it was almost completely black haha. Thank you thank you a million times 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
My 2007 Ranger has a silver Sirius receiver box in front of the screen so I couldn't even see the screen. I used a10MM socket on the bottom 2 screws holding the receiver in and had to rip the upper metal bracket since I couldn't reach the nut holding the receiver in place. Once I removed the Sirius receiver the screen was in plain sight. I just vacuumed it clean(packed with dust and leaves) and now the ac airflow is like new. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
My ‘07 Ranger was also not blowing ac well here in Florida. Thanks to your video I realized there is NO cabin filter to change. I just tore the screen out altogether!!! Also noticed the motor on that blower got pretty HOT fast and spent $35 to replace ot! Thanks for the video!!!
Thank you for the video! It was a great help. I was able to clean mine out from the glove box with a vacuum and a small stick, which definitely made a big difference. It only took about an hour to get it nice and clean. I had to keep turning the system on to get more debris out.
This video saved me a lot of money, time, and headache. Somehow a rag had gotten stuck in there (Lord knows how) and all I had to do was pull it out with pliers. Now to figure out why the first 3 levels of AC aren't very strong where as the last level works perfectly fine lol.
When I found out the 2011 ranger doesn't have a cabin filter, I've been wondering where the dirt gets trapped. There had to be a filter/screen somewhere getting clogged. Now I know, thanks for the video.
Thank you Brother this exactly the video that fixed my ride. The vacuum line missing off ball brilliant. Thanks now she's throwing snow balls at me ahhh!
PS...I found that my 96 Mazda b23 had no screen. When that recirc door opens, it's a straight shot to the fan. I probably just need a new fan. I'm happy to know that "Max AC" just means "Recirculate". That's useful info.
I have a MOUSE NEST right there in both my '07 Ranger & '99 B3000. Gotta clean it out, then spray Fabreeze in the intake to blow through system ducts. Mouse PEE STANK! ON MY 99 B3000 I heard the fan vibrating so I knew there was a mouse nest ON the squirrel cage.
Hola que buen video no hay otro en youtuve como este muy bien explicado pero me gustaria que subiera un video explicando como limpiar el evaporador del mismo ford ranger
I have a 2009 Ford Ranger and never liked the idea that there isn't a cabin air filter. At least there's a screen but, it is horrifically bad engineering. Ford made absolutely no provision to service the screen. Inexcusable but, at least now I know what to look for and how to get to it.
Create a filter of your own since air is always flowing inward I would place a filter cut off from the motor side on top of the screen that you can clean and or replace every year
Bad engineering? It's dismal. I'm done with American crap, precisely why we've become a consumer society and not producers. Love my german vehicles. Selling my pos Ranger, lovely to drive, but pita.
@@stevethomas45 I do miss my '76 Beetle. Last German car I owned. The '70 Beetle was easier to own and get parts for. The '66 was the nicest looking of the Beetles I had. I've never owned a Mercedes but, I don't think I'd own a German car newer than the W124 Mercedes sedan, though. In any case, the odds of finding a nice clean example is slim. Let alone at a sane price.
This worked awesome! Thanks so much! I have an 08 and air flow was horrible now back to new! Mine doesn’t seem to have the door that opens and closes though unless it is stuck open. If it’s stuck open would this mess anything up?
My passenger side vents blow at 100%, however the driver side vents blow at barely 10%. Is there a similar squirrel cage / grill on the driver side to clean out?

how or when is that trap supposed to move by its own? mine only seem to move when im pushing it. Managed to vacuum the leaves that where behind but I still have no air flow or so coming from the dash vents. Thanks for your help!
so if that door in front of the screen never opens i can be sure i have the vacuum problem? my symptoms are entirely the same as yours at the start, but that door doesn't open when i change modes from defrost to cabin.
Just checked mine.. Ignition on but truck not running.. If the knob selector is on off the door is open.. If I move it to upper vents, lower vents. defrost etc the door closes.. Normal AC it stays closed, Max AC it opens.. Changing fan speed did not cause the door to open/close..
@@tongo117 thanks. i was able to find the vacuum line that broke, so the spring is holding that door closed at all times. unfortunately i'll have to remove the fender liner to reach it. at least that's what looks like my easiest route to it.

I've cleaned my screen a every year. I've done it so often with cleaners and wire brushes I ended up tearing the screen and now there's a huge hole. On the plus side, there's great airflow, in Vegas during the summer this matters. On the downside, I have no idea how long my blower is going to go without protection from the screen. Do you have any idea on how to replace the screen? Or if it's even possible?
i have a 95 Honda Accord with no screen/filter to protect the blower and it's still going strong.. so if/when the screen on my Ranger turns to dust i'll probably just go without and take the blower assembly out every so often to clean it out..

Yup, I once disconnected one of those lines to the ball by accident, and couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to change the air temp.
What if mine don’t have the screen ? Does that matter?
yeah if you don't have the screen but have restricted airflow through your vents you have another issue..
Instead of cutting all that out use an air compressor with a wand on it to blow that stuff out
Will this work for a 93 ford ranger?
Not sure if a 93 has the same screen.. Only one way to find out..
That screen would be 86'd if it was in my rig.
